A Sonnet for Filipino Teachers

There’s no sun this summer,
Yet mercury’s rising;
Sweats and dry weeds teasing,
The minds of a dumber;

Whose education blends,
From ‘ranking to wrongking; '
Gift-giving, and sucking,
Some puffed-up childish trends;

Rooted, encrypted, cut,
Deep down into the pearl;
Found in the orient butt,
Ripe by organic hurl;

With social figurines,
Sleeping like margarines.

Summer Lament

The temperature keeps soaring
I feel wet from sweat that's pouring
and I'm physically sick from all this sun
If I keep up this perspiring
I'll be ready for expiring
I've had quite enough of summer
'cause its too darn hot

All this heat has got me weeping
Interfered with nightly sleeping
and I've gotten kinda crabby, so they say
If this heatwave doesn't break
I'll go mad for goodness sake
I've just had it with the summer
'cause its too darn hot

The mercury keeps rising
so it shouldn't be surprising
that I'm not a happy camper, no I'm not
But I had to have my say
'fore I melt and slip away
You can take and shove the summer
'cause its too darn hot

You Are Just a Small Part of All of It

You wish to live life,
On your terms?
As if you have earned that right.
As if you command Summer breezes,
To caress your flesh both day and night.
Devoid of any obstacles on your path,
You might view in your sight!

Advice spoken may be for you traumatic.
And leave you feeling...
Your performance has not been that melodramatic.
However...
Keep your dreams alive and well.
But get up off your butt.
Don't give those dreams up!
See life for what it is.
Whether negative or positive!

And those you found time to listen to moan and whine?
Leave them behind to do that!
That is a trap!

Once you view your life as a gift given...
Realize it was a 'loan'.
Giving you a chance to invest.
Doing it at your best!

You may have expectations!
Like some who live with preferences?
Look around you.
Up and down!
You are just a small part of all of it!
And God did not gift you with life...
Based upon your demands!

You have been given a right to think.
And this I am sure leaves God amused!
You may make requests.
But God ultimately decides...
And He alone does the choosing!
Unless you have found another way,
To live on your terms without His knowing.

Phrases Phrom the Phray

Katie says that I am great at explaining things,
You have to know things to explain them,
... and that takes some real education,
unless your audience is stupid too,
or at least dumber than you!

Higher education is a good thing , if you can,
the more knowledgeable, the better for you,
there is nothing wrong with knowing,
what to understand

Don't try to take away the bears fruit,
even deep in hibernation,
he may growl at you,
... you don't want to wake him up - - -
because he does not give a damn
about your double - breasted pinstripe suit!

Real education happens in the years,
and months and days,
through the ladies,
through the music,
through the haze!

Through the smile of a stranger,
or a simple turn of phrase,
But, mostly through the feelings felt,
from a million yesterdays!

There Is A Garden In Her Face

There is a garden in her face
Where roses and white lilies grow;
A heav'nly paradise is that place
Wherein all pleasant fruits do flow.
There cherries grow which none may buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Those cherries fairly do enclose
Of orient pearl a double row,
Which when her lovely laughter shows,
They look like rose-buds fill'd with snow;
Yet them nor peer nor prince can buy,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Her eyes like angels watch them still,
Her brows like bended bows do stand,
Threat'ning with piercing frowns to kill
All that attempt with eye or hand
Those sacred cherries to come nigh,
Till 'Cherry ripe' themselves do cry.

Those of Childish Minds

Those of childish minds,
I had to sever and leave behind.
They no longer fed my views of life.
I had been hatched from adolescence,
Many years ago...
With an expanding insight.
Rehashing redundant deeds done I did...
I could no longer validate,
Those actions of adults that reminded me of kids!
I began to feel imprisoned,
By this useless activity for me I could not envision.
That began to smother my mental growth...
And its clarity,
Beginning to feel remote and provoked.
I had to sever and leave behind,
Those of childish minds.
They found routine attractive to them.
And within me routine was not meant to be.
I am an adult!
And others who are...
Is a rare find today by far.
Leaving me to wonder,
As my aging process flows...
How gracefully can those grow old?
And where do those of childish minds go,
When an age upon them obviously shows!

Sound Sleep

Some are laughing, some are weeping;
She is sleeping, only sleeping.
Round her rest wild flowers are creeping;
There the wind is heaping, heaping
Sweetest sweets of Summer's keeping.
By the corn-fields ripe for reaping.

There are lilies, and there blushes
The deep rose, and there the thrushes
Sing till latest sunlight flushes
In the west; a fresh wind brushes
Through the leaves while evening hushes.

There by day the lark is singing
And the grass and weeds are springing;
There by night the bat is winging;
There for ever winds are bringing
Far-off chimes of church-bells ringing.

Night and morning, noon and even,
Their sound fills her dreams with Heaven:
The long strife at lent is striven:
Till her grave-bands shall be riven
Such is the good portion given
To her soul at rest and shriven.

Older Than dirt, Dumb As A Rock

Older than dirt
Dumb as a rock

That’s what I’ve been called
And it comes as no shock

Cause I have gotten older
And I have gotten dumber

And I possibly could have seen
My very last summer

But I don’t regret getting’ dumber
And I know getting’ older is tough

What I do regret tho’…
is not getting’ enough

Summer Turns To High

Mercury is rising still
Turn the fan on high
I wont step on my own shadow
No one wants to cry.
Someone put a pox on me
I spit in their eyes
Summer turns to high.
Lift my bed sheet keep in sandles
Circle search and there are candles
Summers here but night is raising hopes and dragonflies
If those hopes are overshadowed
Cotton-candy, caramel-wafer.
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer high
After wine and nectarines the fireflies in turn
Move like syrup through the evening with the sweet resign
I wont fight for cant happen
Im preoccupied
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer turns to high
Summer high.

Searching For Pittsburgh

The fox pushes softly, blindly through me at night,
between the liver and the stomach. Comes to the heart
and hesitates. Considers and then goes around it.
Trying to escape the mildness of our violent world.
Goes deeper, searching for what remains of Pittsburgh
in me. The rusting mills sprawled gigantically
along three rivers. The authority of them.
The gritty alleys where we played every evening were
stained pink by the inferno always surging in the sky,
as though Christ and the Father were still fashioning the Earth.
Locomotives driving through the cold rain,
lordly and bestial in their strength. Massive water
flowing morning and night throughout a city
girded with ninety bridges. Sumptuous-shouldered,
sleek-thighed, obstinate and majestic, unquenchable.
All grip and flood, mighty sucking and deep-rooted grace.
A city of brick and tired wood. Ox and sovereign spirit.
Primitive Pittsburgh. Winter month after month telling
of death. The beauty forcing us as much as harshness.
Our spirits forged in that wilderness, our minds forged
by the heart. Making together a consequence of America.
The fox watched me build my Pittsburgh again and again.
In Paris afternoons on Buttes-Chaumont. On Greek islands
with their fields of stone. In beds with women, sometimes,
amid their gentleness. Now the fox will live in our ruined
house. My tomatoes grow ripe among weeds and the sound
of water. In this happy place my serious heart has made.

Mercury

I want to be Mercury
To be close to the Sun
To feel the Sun's warmth
More than anyone

I want to be mercury
Rising with more Sun's heat
To peak at the top
That none could defeat

Don't want to be Pluto
Icy and cold
Far from the Sun
Not a real planet I'm told

I want to be Pluto
To be very last
'The last will be first'
Sun said in the past

I want to be Mercury
Not just being in front
It's the warmth from the Sun;
That's what I want

I want his great warmth
You really can't see?
The Sun's great warmth
Is His love for me

Well if I had money
Tell you what Id do
Id go downtown and buy a mercury or two
Crazy bout a mercury
Lord Im crazy bout a mercury
Im gonna buy me a mercury
And cruise it up and down the road
Well the girl I love

With A Lesser Chance To Be Evil

Giving 'in' wasn't enough.
I had to give up and walk away,
From all that 'stuff'.
All that teasing 'bling',
I just had to touch...
With a belief I needed,
To sit on a throne as if I were king.

Giving 'in' wasn't enough.
Giving foolishness up I thought would be tough.
But...
When I did my heart felt free.
Renewed I then became everything...
I was meant all along to be.
With less chance to feel evil.
Or romanced wishes I had turf that would never be taxed.
So glad I gave up thoughts like that!

Oh,
Those delusions I did have packed and stacked on my back.
With chips on my shoulder to create my own Central Park.
Paved and tree lined with unforgiveable misery.

I removed a greed from me.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I felt victory released to free.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
Darkness chased away from my side.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
Not within me will it reside.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I rid myself of fantasies.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I learned to take deep breaths to breathe.
With a lesser chance to be evil.

Giving 'in' wasn't enough.
I had to give up and walk away,
From all that 'stuff'.
All that teasing 'bling'.
Blinging me too much.

I rid myself of fantasies.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I learned to take deep breaths to breathe.
With a lesser chance to be evil.

I learned to take deep breaths to breathe.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I learned to take deep breaths to breathe.
With a lesser chance to be evil.
I learned to take deep breaths to breathe.
With a lesser chance to be evil.

24-oceans are flowing in poetry of concepts
simply written 'self-egg'
obessive sweats, injuried sweats &possessive sweats
going through after years
towards light, humans grasp the world of their findings

Butt Town

The cops are well-groomed, with
Muscled physiques in butt town
Their tan uniforms are tailored in chic
In butt town
Any young black male who walks down the street
Is gonna get stopped by a car full of meat
But the girl with the hair
Flies by in her underwear-
Shes done nothing so far to deserve that car
When you live in butt town
You gotta get down
But in butt town Im learnin
In butt town Im earnin
In butt town Im turnin
Into my worst nightmare
Im tellin you, its a motley crew in butt town
Monday youre new, and friday youre through
In butt town
The producer is wily, and owns what he sells
The talent is eager to go straight to hell
Th tits are amazing, and everyones gazing
At some body part-
Thats the nature of art in butt town
All over butt town dreams have a show down
All over butt town values are thrown down
But in butt town Im learnin
In butt town Im earnin
In butt town Im turnin
Into my worst nightmare
In butt town baby
Im gonna be a star
Im gonna shake my butt far
Now here we go
Im gonna shake my butt
Shake my butt shake my butt
In butt town

Summer Fever

Winds may come and the winds may flow
But theres no wind can cool me of my fever, summer fever
Summer fever
Time of love, time of year
Temperatures rising, our bodies near in fever, summer fever
Summer fever
A heat-wave run, a dog-day night
Were making love, things are right, its fever, summer fever
Summer fever
You burn so deep with your love so sweet
And you satisfy and mystify my fever, summer fever
Summer fever
Body to body, arms entwined
Locked in your love, feeling fine with fever, summer fever
Summer fever
Time of love, time of year
Temperatures rising, our bodies near in fever, summer fever
Summer fever
Winds may come and the winds may blow
But theres no wind can cool me of my fever, summer fever
Summer fever
You burn so deep with your love so sweet
And you satisfy and mystify my fever, summer fever
