Greatest sin
Poverty is not a sin,
Dostoevsky had written.
But, if you turn your face away
That's the largest sin

21st Century Cries.
21st century cries.
World has advanced in many ways, yet poverty still cries.
Looking at this old man with tears in his eyes.
Desperately searching for food love and clothes.
We all know what it clearly indicates and shows.
I see poverty in a rich man trying to break the law.
I see poverty in a well-educated man who thinks the subject is a bore.
I see poverty in a literate man who lacks respect for poor.
I see poverty in you yes you who wants more and more.

Sonnet: The Magic of Poverty
A birth in poverty is luck supreme!
A death in poverty, a great blessing;
A life of poverty is rare a dream;
Achievements great, stark poverty can bring.
’Tis poverty that goads nations do feats;
’Tis poverty that stimulates scientists;
In everything, poverty, wealth just beats;
The greatest men were in poverty’s lists.
And poverty lessens our worries much;
Account to God will be much easier;
Poverty gives the saint a divine touch;
In poverty, poets can fly higher!
Poverty helps to shun worldly pleasures;
A soul in poverty, Heaven allures.

All Over Your Face
When I see you, you smile as if everything is alright,
but I know your smile is just a mask for your hurt and sadness,
for the truth is written all over your face.
Behind your dark brown gleaming eyes I can see the tears you have cried.
It’s written all over your face.
I can even see behind your blush the anger wrinkles in your cheeks from you clinching your teeth. It’s written all over your face.
I can even see the hurt and disappointment you now carry in your soul.
It’s written all over your face.
I just want you to know my friend I’m there for you whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, an ear to vent in, and of course arms to hug you. I love and care for you and hope you can see that because it’s written all over my face.

For largest Woman's Hearth I knew

For largest Woman's Hearth I knew—
'Tis little I can do—
And yet the largest Woman's Heart
Could hold an Arrow—too—
And so, instructed by my own,
I tenderer, turn Me to.

The Shadow Inside My Shadow
poverty is not my cousin,
is not my lover,
is not my preacher,
poverty is not my brother.
poverty is not my prayer,
or the song that i sing
is not my answer
poverty is not my dream.
poverty is not my teacher,
not the hand that i hold.
poverty is not my anger,
not my spirit, not my soul.
ah! but this poverty is real
it races thru my mind
crashes into my heart,
& leaves me deaf and blind.
poverty is my companion.
the aching cold inside my hollow.
the blow behind my eyes,
poverty is the shadow
inside my shadow.

Poverty In The 21st Century
It’s the 21st century
The media displays it day and night,
Poverty.
Poverty across the globe lies
Poverty cries out from the belly of little boys
Little girls, parents too
Desperately searching for food,
Shelter, clothing, for love,
Companion, for attention
Those with plenty, refuse
To amend, a world haunted by
Poverty.
Is poverty affecting the rich?
Are their poverty the same
As the poor in financial constrains?
For they, too, poverty of love
I see poverty in the learned
I see poverty in those whose
Selfish acts are destroying society.
I see poverty in all level of humanity
The world is still an imperfect place
Yet life is still beautiful, the wind
Blows, we see it not, give thanks
For what you possess, now go,
Help if you can along the way,
Help to eradicate poverty
In your surrounding, widen
Your boundary across your
Country, to nations of the world.
Help to fight poverty, now!

Next Great War
the next great war
this country will face
will be a war within
it's own boundaries...
the stench of poverty and
injustice has become too foul...
the old, the homeless, the
forgotten ones have been pushed
too far, left with too little...
and the sound of righteous anger
rips through the air...
now the largest minority
is the common man and woman...
the faceless ones bought and sold,
and left to die on black and white tv's...
and the time has come
when there's no more taking
to be done.... unless, it's the
taking back, of our lives,
our country, and our freedom!

On Poverty Street
On Poverty Street and Refugee camps far away
The struggles of life it goes on every day
The struggles to live in the face of despair
The have nots of the World have never been rare
The homeless and hungry obliged to sleep rough
And many far too many are doing it tough
And thousands are growing poorer for each new millionaire
No such a thing as equality in the big World out there
On the people of Poverty Street the drug dealers prey
For their own gain they treat their fellow human beings in a disrespectful way
For money to feed their addictions the poor sinned against turn to crime
And they end up in jail for a considerable time
On Poverty Street there is no cause for cheer
And of success stories from there one seldom does hear.

You Turn Me On
I wake up in a different daylight
Guess i haven't been around
See me follow the shadow haunting your body
Naked like water - shining like honey
Move me - you turn me on - the thrill of it all
You turn me on - the thrill of it all
You turn me on - the thrill of it all
I read in the paper how everything's changed
But it's all the same - it's out of the game
I reach out and touch an endless temptation live in a dream - the strangest sensation
Move me - you turn me on...
The lines i have written are the lines on your face
They merge out of nowhere - and leave with no trace
And i've had the feeling we're turnin' to one
When everything's said - when everything's done
Move me - you turn me on...
You move me - oh, baby, turn me on

We are each other's seventh largest trading partner, we are the fifth largest investor there and likewise, we have a lot of exchanges between political leaders, businessmen, tourists and school children too.

We think sometimes that poverty is only being hungry, naked and homeless. The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty. We must start in our own homes to remedy this kind of poverty.

Poverty-I
Lot of hunger and having no food is poverty,
Not having spare cloth to take bath is poverty,
Needing a shelter but not having one is poverty,
Child's sick but can not buy treatment, is poverty,
Fainting child dreaming a mouthful of rice is poverty
Searching warmth in cold flesh in winter nights, is poverty,
Sitting with umbrella on wetting bed in showering night, is poverty,
Thoughtful mother, two mouthful of rice and three children, is poverty,
An ill, deserted mother selling her child wishing it will survive, is poverty.
A defeated and desponded mother poisoning and killing her child is poverty,

War on poverty
War is a common solution for a lot of things,
countries go to war and so do gangs and teams
Its kind of crazy and kind of a shame,
because i always see wars on the streets fighting drugs like cocaine
Pick and choose your battles because the drugs will never stop, instead you need to control poverty and why people dont have a lot
Money, food, theres a lack of it all,
this is why they turn to drugs and manage to fall
No poverty, no drugs and thats the honest truth,
so have a war on poverty and not a war on youth

Poverty is not a Calling
Poverty is not a calling,
Even if the priests think it is.
Poverty is a distraction,
The intellectual must think it so.
Think of the books you could have bought
Had you had money,
Or the food you may have eaten
In a posh hotel.
You soak garri in water
And wipe your mouth,
Then put on a fine shirt
So no one will know.
You are a lie - you know you want more;
Chicken dipped in sauce
And maybe some wine too,
But you cannot afford it.
You are ill
And so run to the chemist;
No doctor for you,
A card is three hundred naira.
Pain killers, multivitamins and blood capsules,
You will still have change;
Why then bother with the syringe
Or the bespectacled grave face?
You see?
Poverty denies you the good life;
You cannot do what
Your seeming betters do.
You discover it is a sad state,
Poverty is not a calling;
We both know that,
Even if we pretend not to.

Face Up
Words by neil peart, music by geddy lee and alex lifeson
You turn my head
I spin my wheels
Running on empty --
You know how that feels
Im on a roll now --
Or is it a slide?
Cant be too careful
With that dangerous pride
If I could only reach that dial inside
And turn it up
Face up -- or you can only back down
Face up -- hit the target, or you better hit the ground
Face up -- theres still time to turn the game around
Face up -- turn it up -- or turn that wild card down
Turn it up
Dont complain
Dont explain
I dont think my new resolve
Can stand the strain
Im in a groove now --
Or is it a rut?
I need some feedback
But all the lines are cut
I get so angry, but I keep my mouth shut
And turn it up
You get all squeezed up inside
Like the days were carved in stone
You get all wired up inside
And its bad to be alone
You can go out, you can take a ride
And when you get out on your own
You get all smoothed out inside
And its good to be alone
Turn it up

Written In The Stars
All around everybody shouts
Their insides out, hear the laughing crowd
The wind blows cold, summers gone by
Wander on the boulevards
Up and down
Its written in the stars
Its written on the walls
You will defy my heart
Take my soul
This frame of my mind brings me here
Goes up in flames and fades away
Like the mirror sucked my face
From all its grace
Lost my faith, lost my sight
Eyes like ice
Ow!
Shes deeper than the sky
Shes made of gold
Shes like the rising sun
Its written in the stars
Its written on the walls
You will defy my heart
Take my soul
Faith, written in the stars
Faith, written on the stars
Face the change of life
Face the chains of love

Poverty-II
Satiated, desiring but not having enough food to offer some, is also poverty,
Sheltered, wishing, but failing to accommodate a guest, is also poverty,
Treated, prescribed, but unable to effort better treatment is also poverty,
Clothed, requiring but can't afford sufficient to meet the need is also poverty,
Educating, meritorious, but failing to provide better education is also poverty,
Social, invited but avoiding a ceremony to avoid buying a gift is also poverty,
Celebration, aspiring but fearing expenses not celebrating is also poverty,
Friend in distress, desiring but incompetent to help a friend is also poverty,
oppressed, rights denied, deciding but failing to buy justice is also poverty,
Time elapsed but not repaying debts for not having money is also poverty.

Peace or Poverty
Their skin soaks up the heat
Leaving it as black as the midnight sky,
Their eyes wide, white, pleading
Begging to the passersby.
They litter the street
Half naked bodies,
Red and colouring their feet
Searching for a entrance
A door out of the circle of poverty.
Poverty means destruction
Destruction means fear
Behind locked doors we sit in early evening
Too scared to see a black face
Terrified of black feet crossing the threshold.
But why be fearful of your slaves,
Those you whip and beat
Treating like the dirt from the doormat
Where you wipe your feet.
Role diversity causes poverty
Poverty destroys peace
But peace minus poverty
Means Equality should increase.

Poem Of Our Souls
Our seeking went beyond
sheding of tears,
out of enough we lost
jugdment, pain of the past
has thoroughly touch
me in an unpeaceful
place...
Penury and poverty has
turn me into mischief,
richies yet penury disagree
my wealth
our jubilation don't last
long yet tribulation
cometh
in notime,
poverty can jubilate without
fear of jugdment.
Penury.....
Penury has eatup
our plenty, poverty
now call us poor
poverty creeps into our
life and eat, drink
what we had left
in our store yet
he still pronounce us
penury.
Our souls walks alone
kings seeks shelter in
th darkcold wintet
calling on motherearth
to favour our pocket
puting penny into
penury still nothing can
change by chance
poem of our
souls'.
