On Discovering My Own 'Importance

Somehow I am more important than I thought
But my shoes are dirty
So I cannot walk on the red carpet!

Put Yourself In My Shoes

Your mind is made up you wont even try
You didnt even cry this time
You say that we could never see eye to eye
And one of us just must be blind
We have our differences
Were still the same
See what we want to see
But you take a second look
And maybe things wouldnt seem the same
If you could see what you mean to me
Put yourself in my shoes
Walk a mile for me
Ill put myself in your shoes
Maybe then wed see
That if you put yourself in my shoes
Youd have some sympathy
And if I could only put myself in your shoes
Id walk right back to me
Youre gonna keep walkin and youre gonna pass me by
You say you dont even care
But I could always recognize a real good-bye
And I know your hearts not there
Weve had our differences
Were still the same
Hear what we want to hear
Now Im head over heels in the lost and found
Its a cryin shame
I thought we made the perfect pair
Put yourself in my shoes
Walk a while walk that mile for me
Ill put myself in your shoes
Maybe then wed see
That if you put yourself in my shoes
Youd have some sympathy
And if I could only put myself in your shoes
Id walk right back to me
Id walk right back to me
Id walk right back to me

Like dawn & new shoes

Every thing is new
Just waking up
For everything new

Like new shoes
Hesitate to walk
And get dirty

Evade mud and
Keep away from stepping friends

They’re jealous
And you are new like the shoes

Doubt is your trait.
Dawn doubts incoming mornings too.

White Shoes

(jack tempchin)
I want em, I need em
And Im gonna go out and get em
White shoes
I know Ill feel better
When I slide down into the leather
White shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
I woke up from a dream
When I saw em in a magazine
White shoes
I said lou you gotta start new
And the first thing you gotta do
Is get some white shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
You know he left me with the lonesome blues
Been hangin round too long with nothin to do
Yeah, he really made me pay those dues
But Im goin out on the town tonight in
White shoes
Well, I wanted em, I needed em
Yeah, and I went out and got em
White shoes
That new boy when I see him
Im gonna walk right up and meet him in
White shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
White shoes
Im goin out on the town tonight
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes
White shoes ... woah, oh, oh... white shoes

Down And Dirty

She's a dancing girl who brings up the heat
Hits on all the men
She knows how to move and make you feel
Like you want to get into sin
A chocolate bar was going really far
Really made me catch my breath
So she had an unordinary glance
I got down tools in the chest
Down and dirty
You're down and dirty, alright
She's down and dirty
You're down and dirty
She twisted her ass around drinks
While the dirty works the girl's booty
Whispered in my ear what I want to hear
Says, "Come with me baby, let's play." (Okay!)
She went to the back to get her traps
My sixth sense was bothering me
She came to work and something I heard
Makes me want to get comfy
Down and dirty
She's down and dirty, alright
Get down and dirty
Get down (Listen)
Down and dirty
Woo!
Alright
Ooh yeah
Well there's something going on
Something I've never known before
Leather and lace is all that I can see
I lost my power of will
You know she should be still
Never thought I'd get hit by some teen, no
I start to bleed, have mercy on me
I'm feelin' a bit distressed
What you're doing to me is so obscene
Got myself into a mess
She started to dance, I grabbed my pants
Found my way to the door
Hot on my trail, a thousand females
Saying, "Baby, more more more!"
Down and dirty
(Hurt me)
Down and dirty
(Well, well, well)
Down and dirty
(Oh yeah)
Get down and dirty
(She is)
Get down (Down)
Get dirty (Dirty)
Take me down (Alright)
One more
Get down (Oh yeah)
Get dirty (Turn around)
Get down (Come over here)-

Someone Else's Shoes

As I look through my closet of
poetry I realized that many of my
poems are someone else's shoes.
I was never a woman who had one breast
removed. For that’s someone else's shoes.
Nor did I know a man who hung himself
by the laces of his old brown shoes.
Once again that's someone else's shoes.
Neither was I on crack or a little
homeless girl named Suzy Brown.
Those too are someone else's shoes.
Now as I close my closet of poetry
I realize that in order for me to be true
to my art of poetry. I must sometimes
be willing to walk in someone else's shoes.

Poor Boy's Easter Day

I don't have flowers of sun
The destiny took them away and gone
Even i don't have colored eggs
At this blissful Easter days
I don't have golden combs
To comb this dirty hair of mine
And my shoes are jugged and old
And it's already Easter day to hold
My little brother's hand
And go to our old church
but how I'll go?
People will make fun of me i know
And i can hear them when they say
'Oh how a dirty grimy his hair is'
'Oh God look to his old nasty shoes'
'What is doing this poor boy here'
'Oh Tom my son don't go near
then you become infected if you go near
that beggar boy so stay here'
And at the end ill return home
To tear at my bed alone

Sand On My Shoes

As I sit by the sea
Drink tequila by the shade of a tree
Theres a seniorita sat on my knee
Sprinkling sand all over me
Ive got sand on my shoes
Ive lost everything that Im gonna lose
Ive got nothing but the sun and the moon
And the sand thats on the beach
I am happy though my shoes are tattered and torn
Because the sea is so shiney
Ba ba-um-ba
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba-um-ba
Ive got sand on my shoes
Thought I was civilized
Till I saw the sea and I realized
That the city life was just not for me
Left my troubles behind me
Ba ba-um-ba
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba-um-ba
Ive got sand on my shoes
Ive got nothing else that Im gonna lose
Ive got nothing but the sun and the moon
And thats plenty for me
Ive got sand on my shoes
Ive got sand on my shoes
Ive got sand on my shoes
Sand on my shoes
Ba ba ba ba-um-ba
Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba-um-ba

Nobody Saw The Roses

Walking down the subway
Narrow as a rat hole.
Rain water flooding.
Knee depth water.
Socks soaked.
See men complain.
despair on their faces mirrored in the water.
See dirty dogs walk alongside,
See the fateful flood,
See the garbage over stairs,
But nobody saw the roses stuck under their shoes as they walk out in despair

(Growing Pains) Red Shoes Blues

This is a song which should be chanted! (Based on a childhood memory)
............................................. ................................................. ..............

Red shoes,
she wanted...
red shoes...

they had to be red she said,
they had to be red...

no way she could explain
when she was only three...
no way that she could dance
through her three-year-old day
without

red shoes...
red shoes...
she got the red shoes blues.

She wanted
stiletto heels...
stiletto heels...
stilet-tos...
stilet-tos...
she was fifteen
and there wasn’t any way
that she was going to dance
through her teenage day
without stilet...tos...
with those...
pointy toes...
she got the winkle-picker blues.

She wanted... high boots...
she wanted... ankle boots...
she wanted stamp-your-face
Bob Marten bovver boots...
she wanted... slippers
as wide as... kippers...
she wanted sandals
with wedge heels,
flip-flops and pumps...
she walks into a shoe-shop and everybody jumps...
And now she’s forty
it isn’t naughty...
to try ‘em, to buy ‘em,
not to walk on by ‘em...

But nothing ever beat those
red shoes...
red shoes...
the red shoes...
dancing through the day until you’re dead shoes...

red shoes...
red shoes....
she got the red shoes blues.

I too, have got shoes

Have you seen shoes on children here
No shoes for other children
No shoes for your children
My uncle said to my dad

I lost my shoes—small shoes
from then on
My feet crushed the thorns
from then on

The city was taken from me
But not me from the city
from then on

Many years later my shoe remover died
And I got back my shoes
Bigger shoes—for crushing thorns
from then on

I cat walked in them
And went to bed in them
from then on

I got the city back
Even when I stayed there
from then on

Believe me I too have got shoes
And I slip my feet in them
But not for sleep anymore
Yes I too have got shoes

Other children wear shoes
My children wear shoes
Wear shoes why not
Why not why not why not why not

Shoes in the cot
Shoes to school
Shoes to the market
Shoes to the office
Why not wear shoes

It's Easy To Walk In Someone Else's Shoes

It's easy to walk in someone else's shoes.
And to feel what it takes to place their footsteps...
With mistakes made.
To never look back with a moving forward unafraid.

Just ask anyone who has done that!
There are so many...
Standing on the sidelines with a giving of their opinion.

Ask anyone one of them to confront their own fears,
As others near watch...
Dissecting everything that someone else exposes,
While listening to those who oppose and show it.

It's easy to walk in someone else's shoes.
And yet...
As easy as it is,
Those heard passing their judgements...
Are not so quick to prove those shoes on them will fit.

Shoes Without Heels

This love of mine is packed with stepping stone
These shoes are made for walking in reverse
In the dead of night, you tiptoe out and leave me all alone
Putting on your satin slip-ons and your sultry french cologne.
Shes wearing shoes without heels.
Shes walking over the floor.
Shes walking all over me
Weirder therein, you know how it feels
When she walks right out of the door.
Well, I thought that I was bigger than this town
I thought Id spend a pace and go the distance
But she picked me out, she used me up, and then she put me down
Now Im driven til Im crying, or Im dreaming til I drown.
Shes wearing shoes without heels.
Shes walking over the floor.
Shes walking all over me
Weirder therein, you know how it feels
When she walks right out of the door.
While youre busy packing underwear and other worthless trinkets,
Spare a thought for worthless men who drag on women like theyre
Cigarettes, cause you watch him walk away from you
While he gets down and deals
Oh, hell watch you walk away without heels
Oh, you think that hes a fool to tolerate
All the liberty you cherish and you roughly take
But to watch your love turn slowly from indifference to hate
Would hurt him more than any heart that you might care to break.
Shes wearing shoes without heels.
Shes walking over the floor.
Shes walking all over you
But when shes finished, I know (? )
When she walks right back through the door.

Dirty Eyes

You hypnotize
Honey
Yeah honey
You do it
Woooo, do it good
Do it all right
Every night
When you turn off the light
Its outta sight
(alright)
You hypnotize
Mezmorize
With your dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Your dirty eyes
Breathin
Breathin heavy
Heavy
Heavy breathin
Send shivers down my spine
[make me | and [im|youre]] so glad that youre mine
[when youre so bad and youre
Mine]
Thats what turns me on
All night long
You hypnotize
Mezmorize
With your dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
You got dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
I love your dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Right through me
Your dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes
Dirty eyes

Mud

The rains had come and gone.
The sunshine did appear.
I went for a walk,
but there was mud everywhere,
with every step I that I took,
I sank in some boggy mess.
My shoes that were nicely polished
now look a right old mess.
The next time the sun shines
after some summer shower,
I am going to stay indoors,
and I won’t get dirty there.

Throw a Punch at Me, If You Must

These hours seem to dilate into geologic ages
As I sit among some relatives, who struggle
To determine which of them has suffered most.
A north wind claws the land outside. I cannot
Find the courage to excuse myself and take a
Walk. My carpet's not so dirty as it often is,
Which means that, when I hang my head,
As I do often, there is naught for me to see.
You can do your dishes later. Hasten over.
Rescue me. Come in and say I stole some
Money. Tell them that I killed your dog.
Create the sort of cataclysm that would
Bring a brighter age. I'm begging, darling.
Please.

Walk To The Water

She said it wasnt cold
She left her coat at home that day
She wore canvas shoes
White canvas shoes
Around her neck
She wore a silver necklace
It was given to me by my father, she said
It was given to me
She took the back way home
Passed the lights and the summerhill
Turned left onto the north strand
And on, and towards the sea
He said he was an artist
But he really painted billboards
In large capital letters
Large capital letters
He was telling jokes
Nobody else would listen to him
I saw you that day
Your lips were cherry red
Your legs were crossed
Your arms wide open
Your hair was coloured gold
Like a field of corn
You were blown by the wind
You were blown by the wind
Walk, walk, walk...to the water
Walk with me a while
Walk, walk, walk...to the roadside
Walk me in the light
A room in the royal hotel
Sea facing views
A man with a suitcase
Full of things he doesnt need
Im looking through your window
Im walking through your doorway
Im on the outside
Let me in
Let me love you
Let me love you
Let me...
Walk, walk, walk...to the water
Walk with me...yeah
Walk, walk, walk...to the roadside
Walk with me again

The Scholars

BALD heads forgetful of their sins,
Old, learned, respectable bald heads
Edit and annotate the lines
That young men, tossing on their beds,
Rhymed out in love's despair
To flatter beauty's ignorant ear.
All shuffle there; all cough in ink;
All wear the carpet with their shoes;
All think what other people think;
All know the man their neighbour knows.
Lord, what would they say
Did their Catullus walk that way?

Dancin Shoes

I know youre so sad
So sad you cant cry
But I know you let go
Although you cant remember why
Your lipstick dont fit
Your straps coming loose
Youre out in the hall
Waltzing the blues
Now you hurt somewhere
They wont find a bruise
Youve been learning to walk
In those dancin shoes
I had a mama
She told me bout you
She said true love dont lie
You touch that woman
And the smoke wont leave your eyes
Youre talking, you walk
cause you cant refuse
Learning to walk
In those dancin shoes
Now you hurt somewhere
They wont find a bruise
Learning to walk
In those dancin shoes
