A Fact, And An Imagination, Or, Canute And Alfred, On The Seashore

THE Danish Conqueror, on his royal chair,
Mustering a face of haughty sovereignty,
To aid a covert purpose, cried--'O ye
Approaching Waters of the deep, that share
With this green isle my fortunes, come not where
Your Master's throne is set.'--Deaf was the Sea;
Her waves rolled on, respecting his decree
Less than they heed a breath of wanton air.
--Then Canute, rising from the invaded throne,
Said to his servile Courtiers,--'Poor the reach,
The undisguised extent, of mortal sway!
He only is a King, and he alone
Deserves the name (this truth the billows preach)
Whose everlasting laws, sea, earth, and heaven, obey.'
This just reproof the prosperous Dane
Drew, from the influx of the main,
For some whose rugged northern mouths would strain
At oriental flattery;
And Canute (fact more worthy to be known)
From that time forth did for his brows disown
The ostentatious symbol of a crown;
Esteeming earthly royalty
Contemptible as vain.
Now hear what one of elder days,
Rich theme of England's fondest praise,
Her darling Alfred, 'might' have spoken;
To cheer the remnant of his host
When he was driven from coast to coast,
Distressed and harassed, but with mind unbroken:
'My faithful followers, lo! the tide is spent
That rose, and steadily advanced to fill
The shores and channels, working Nature's will
Among the mazy streams that backward went,
And in the sluggish pools where ships are pent:
And now, his task performed, the flood stands still,
At the green base of many an inland hill,
In placid beauty and sublime content!
Such the repose that sage and hero find;
Such measured rest the sedulous and good
Of humbler name; whose souls do, like the flood
Of Ocean, press right on; or gently wind,
Neither to be diverted nor withstood,
Until they reach the bounds by Heaven assigned.'

The Big Green Chair

Look over there. See the big green chair. Its my favorite place, the chair over there.
I sit there quite often thinking of this and sometimes that. Sometimes when I sit there I wear a hat. Pink of course, nothing else would do. I even have pink shoe, the other one blue.
When I'm sleeply sometimes I crawl up in the big green chair. It smells of dad, his name is brad. But only mom call him brad, to me he's dad.
But my favorite thing about the big green chair is when dad calls my name,
Lainey, my dear, come and sit with me here in my chair, my big green chair.

The Conqueror

He climbs inside the looking glass
And points at anything he hates
He calls to you, hey look out son
Theres a gun theyre pointing at your pretty face
And the heads they are a rolling
Cos the conqueror is on his way
And the justice day is coming
For the conqueror is on his way
Five hundred little women
Are calling at their heros door
Yes, their hero is working overtime
Hes squirming on an empty floor
And the heads they are a rolling
Cos the conqueror is on his way
And the justice day is coming
For the conqueror is on his way
Hes bought the castle on the hill
Hes bought it just to knock it down
The local power shout him down
They say hes just an empty-headed clown
And the heads they are a rolling
Cos the conqueror is on his way
And the justice day is coming
For the conqueror is on his way
Hes busy building monuments
To hide inside his empty grave
You there, can you find some souls
Hes looking for some people to save
And the heads they are a rolling
Cos the conqueror is on his way
And the justice day is coming
For the conqueror is on his way
And the words of love are killing him
The conqueror is on his way
And the words of love were lying on an empty floor
Just in the place where the conqueror lay...

Celtic Aggression

Somebody cried the death of culture
Somebody spit in a little boy's face
Somebody said you robbed my homeland
Somebody got the wrong impression

So we came across the water
From the shores of the isle of green
Speaking separate tongues
In the death of culture

Somebody said you stole my language
Some people will say anything
Somebody said you robbed my heritage
Some people will believe anything
Somebody said you always spoke English
Somebody got the wrong impression

So we came across the water
From the shores of the isle of green
Speaking separate tongues
In the death of culture
It was the death of culture
It was the death of culture

Bhi machree
Ohin trasna na farraige
Bhi machree
Ohin trasna na farraige

So we came across the water
From the shores of the isle of green
So we came across the water
Speaking seperate tongues
In the death of culture

Wolf

That was a time for falling,
I knew you well.
There was no time for calling,
Me when you fell.
This is a time to take cover ,
In a wishing well.
Summer was blowing all over me when you fell,
Sailors can take all the breathing
Out of the sail,
I took a trip when you needed me.
When you fell,
Waters were driving me
To a deep place
I close my eyes to see,
Your sweet face,
A coke inside me,
I slept in hell.
Angels can be so deceiving
When they love you well,
Did you think you would be leaving me?
These are some lavender flowers
In a broken shell
They comfort me ever since the day when you fell.
When you fell,
Waters were dancing me
In a dark place,
I close my eyes to see
Your determined face,
My secret inside me
I slept in hell.
This is a time for believing
In fairy tales,
One in which you are brought back to me.
Wolf, I cried wolf.
Wolf, I cried wolf.
Wolf, I cried wolf.

The Night I Cried

The night i cried
You weren't anymore there
Tears were heavy
No one asked me to share.

The night i cried
I cried whole night
Thinking of u my love
tears didn't stop a while.

The night i cried
I didn't want to cry
But i cried all night
still didn't know why.

The night i cried
I didn't wipe out my tears
I let them flow away
With the pain i preserved for years.

The night i cried
I silently sang something
That made me miss you more
Even more than i ever did.

The night i cried
My eyes couldn't sleep
My mind was going on asking me
Why i went so deep....

I Left Apart

Over that fresh green grass
A sweet face did say to me with hush
O me handsome lad, will ye go apart
From the dear green land of Ireland
Though I promised not to
But fortune decided to
For me to break the vow
And from the dear ol' isle I did part

And on that ship I went over
For fortune to dig with me shovel
Leaving all that sweet green
And dreaming of money's stream
Behind the ocean so wide
Putting a shamrock by me side
To somewhere I don't have to hide
And the ship from the dear isle did part

Limerick, Corcaigh and Donegal
Connemara, Tara and the all
Oh how I miss Belfast and Derry
And don't forget the shores of Kerry
Dreams come and go
With a memories' flow
Until appeared the first glow
Of the land after I left the dear isle apart

Money and fame I did have
And for lassies didn't give a laugh
For me heart never chose
But the lass in the blues
Now years passed me by
And I'm getting even so high
No one can deny
After I left the dear Ol' isle apart

After all this and that to the dear I did come
So blissing the air I did breathe with no gloom
But then into a cemetery I did get
And on an engraved stone I did read
'O ye passer by,
sit a little and cry
say your pray, then a goodbye
to the dear ol' isle that ye left apart'

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Past

The debt is paid,
The verdict said,
The Furies laid,
The plague is stayed,
All fortunes made;
Turn the key and bolt the door,
Sweet is death forevermore.
Nor haughty hope, nor swart chagrin,
Nor murdering hate, can enter in.
All is now secure and fast;
Not the gods can shake the Past;
Flies-to the adamantine door
Bolted down forevermore.
None can reenter there, -
No thief so politic,
No Satan with a royal trick
Steal in by window, chink or hole,
To bind or unbind, add what lacked
Insert a leaf, or forge a name,
New-face or finish what is packed,
Alter or mend eternal Fact.

A National Song For Australia Felix

Dark over the face of Nature sublime!
Reign'd tyranny, warfare, and every crime;
The world a desert—no oasis green
A man-loving soul on its surface had seen;
Then mercy above a mandate sent forth
An Eden to form—a refuge for worth.
From the ocean it came, with halo so bright,
Want, strife, and oppression were lost in its sight.

Chorus
First isle of the sea—brightest gem of the earth
In thee every virtue and joy shall have birth.
A land of the just, the brave, and the free,
Australia the happy, thou ever shalt be.

So earth in the flood no place for rest gave,
At length a green isle arose from the wave;
The dove o'er the waters the olive branch bore,
To show that one spot was cover'd no more;

Australia thus shall be sounded by fame,
And Europe shall echo the glorious name;
The brave, wise, and good, wherever oppress'd,
Shall fly to thy shores as a haven of rest.

Chorus: First isle of the sea, &c.

Land of the orange, fig, olive, and vine;
'Midst earth's fairest daughters the chaplet is thine;
No sick'ning vapours are borne on thy air,
But fragrance and melody twine sweetly there;
Thy ever-green fields proclaim plenty and peace,
If man doth his part, heaven sends the increase;
No customs to fetter, no enemy near,
Independence thy sons for ever must cheer.

Deep Green Eyes

Deep green eyes
Haunt me so
Deep green eyes
Torture my soul
Everywhere I go
Every time I sleep
See them in my thoughts
Burning through my soul
Deep green eyes
Why do you follow me so
Deep green eyes
Soul of my soul
Deep green eyes
Thought of my thoughts
Burrow through my core
Deep green eyes
Tell me so
Deep green eyes
Who do you own

Maya

You love is like ne wineskins,
And down to the river side with a view;
For the sweet water of Maya is what you share with me.
I met you with my own eyes and i saw your love,
And you were in a trance with the muse of your love!
As the flowers sang to your beauty with the care of love,
And like the complexity of the things seen around you.
My root of love is so spread out to the waters deep,
And you are Maya from these waters deep;
For your love is like the new wineskins sold in this town.

Cogitation

if this chair does not exist
will i, this, chair, me, who asks,
if this chair, exists at all,
can i, exist, too? will i be dependent
on the thought of a chair
a thought of me that i think i
can touch, that i think thoughts
touching this thought of a chair
does the chair think about me,
i ask, looking for that therefore
beside the chair that i thought
is a chair, that i thought is I,
am, therefore, a chair, thinking
chair, on four feet?

Empathies At a Minimal

I keep my empathies at a minimal.
And my sympathies are rarely shared.
I know my upbringing has taught me that.
And those emotions I feel are based on fact.
I don't wish to express something that is not there.
And my caring for others is extremely deep.
When I give it is from my heart.
Nothing inside of me just lays there without purpose.
When I share I share.
Not because I've received an overflow.
And invested abundance of it it what I share.
God has seen fit...
There is much more meaning for my existence.

To give is to receive.
Sometimes.
Sometimes it is best to just give.
Since some folks have no clue,
To know what it is they are receiving.
And if that is known...
It is to one's advantage to dispense with it well.
At least have a consciousness about it.

Isle Of Enchantment

Isle of enchantment (Puerto Rico) (3/15/12)

It was the isle of enchantment where I fell in love
The isle where dreams flourish and grow
And your heart is with the one you know.
Where two hearts will become as one
Underneath the Caribbean sun.

Love is in the air and on the beach too
That is where I fell in love with you.
The isle of enchantment called PUERTO RICO
The island that you must get to know.

The beaches with their crystal clear waters
And beautiful white sands
Will make you feel as if you're in the promised land.

How can I not be in love with you?
When you make me feel whole
How can I not be in love with you?
When you touch my inner soul.

In you hope I found- and you turned my life around
You have shown me what it is to live
And to you my love I give.
I never knew what love was before
Till you opened up that door.

The moment I held you in my arms
And kissed you passionately
Right then I knew- another one there can never be.

The isle of enchantment captured my heart and soul
And with you is where I belong.
