Ireland

In the wild and lurid desert, in the thunder-travelled ways,
'Neath the night that ever hurries to the dawn that still delays,
There she clutches at illusions, and she seeks a phantom goal
With the unattaining passion that consumes the unsleeping soul:
And calamity enfolds her, like the shadow of a ban,
And the niggardness of Nature makes the misery of man:
And in vain the hand is stretched to lift her, stumbling in the gloom,
While she follows the mad fen-fire that conducts her to her doom.

The Train

A green eye-and a red-in the dark.
Thunder-smoke-and a spark.

It is there-it is here-flashed by.
Whither will the wild thing fly?

It is rushing, tearing thro’ the night,
Rending her gloom in its flight/

It shatters her silence with shrieks,
Where is it the wild thing seeks?

Alas! For it hurries away
Them that are fain to stay.

Hurrah! For it carries home
Lovers and friends that roam.

Where are you, Time and Space?
The world is a little place.

Your reign is over and done,
You are one.

Desert Rose

Words and music by sting
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
I dream of fire
Those dreams that tie two hearts that will never die
And near the flames
The shadows play in the shape of the mans desire
This desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this
And now she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothings as it seems
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
The rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of love
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
Sweet desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this
Sweet desert rose
This memory of hidden hearts and souls
This desert flower
This rare perfurme is the sweet intoxication of love

John Ford: VI

HEW hard the marble from the mountain’s heart
Where hardest night holds fast in iron gloom
Gems brighter than an April dawn in bloom,
That his Memnoniah likeness thence may start
Revealed, whose hand with high funereal art
Carved night, and chiselled shadow: be the tomb
That speaks him famous graven with signs of doom
Intrenched inevitably in lines athwart,
As on some thunder-blasted Titan’s brow
His record of rebellion. Not the day
Shall strike forth music from so stern a chord,
Touching this marble: darkness, none knows how,
And stars impenetrable of midnight, may.
So locms the likeness of thy soul, John Ford.

A Prayer

'Mid the discordant noises of the day I hear thee calling;
I stumble as I fare along Earth's way; keep me from falling.

Mine eyes are open but they cannot see for gloom of night:
I can no more than lift my heart to thee for inward light.

The wild and fiery passion of my youth consumes my soul;
In agony I turn to thee for truth and self-control.

For Passion and all the pleasures it can give will die the death;
But this of me eternally must live, thy borrowed breath.

'Mid the discordant noises of the day I hear thee calling;
I stumble as I fare along Earth's way; keep me from falling.

The Critic

with an impotent hand
and a limp pen
he scratches at the scabs
pf the exposed soul...

having no soul
of his own...
to draw from.

no fire in the night
he sits 'neath a neon light
and vomits commands
to the frigid and lifeless...

without shadow, slowly
eaten from within...
ego, and dust!

Vain Death

ALL the first night she might not weep
But watched till morning came,
And when she slept at dawn, she heard
The dead man call her name.

The second night she watched and wept
And called on death for grace,
And when she slept before the dawn
She saw the dead man’s face.

The third night through she laughed as one
That knows her way to bliss,
And in the instant ere she slept
She felt the dead man’s kiss.

She rose and faced the flickering fire
(And oh, but she was fair!),
Like a wild witch behind her danced
The shadow of her hair.

She took her penknife from its sheath,
The tender blade she kissed,
And by the firelight’s dying leap
She bared her little wrist.

And where the vein ran large and blue
She cut, once and again,
Yet ere she swooned from life, she knew
Her death had been in vain.

For while life thundered in her ears,
Ere yet her pulse might fail,
Far off across the kindless night
She heard the dead man’s wail,

And knew her doom was one with theirs
That kill the life God gave,
And that she might not leave this earth
Her soul alive to save,
But ay must dwell within that house
As in a living grave,

While he for whom she died might ne’er
Win to her in that place,
But must for ever make his moan
Ranging in agony alone
The trackless void of space

Soul on Fire

Soul on Fire
I know what I'm doing
this is my passion
What's worth doing

Soul of Fire
My heart just skipped a beat
I can feel the feeling
from my head
down to my feet

Soul of Fire
yearning to succeed
what I've always wanted
what I really need

Soul on Fire
look inside my burning soul
to be a poet
is my goal

Refuge

Fog hangs in bright tents
contagion enfolds
blighted white mist
like driven, lost souls.

But curtains enclose
our dim, soft room,
and lanterns guard
against fog’s ashen gloom.

So build high the fire
to warm us this night;
we'll silently wait for
dawn’s thin, brittle light.

Long Promised Road

So hard to answer futures riddle
When ahead is seeming so far behind
So hard to laugh a child-like giggle
When the tears start to torture my mind
So hard to shed the life of before
To let my soul automatically soar
But I hit hard at the battle thats confronting me, yeah
Knock down all the roaddblocks a-stumbling me
Throw off all the shackles that are binding me down
Sew up the wounds of evolution
And the now starts to get in my way
So what if lifes a revelation
If the mind speaks of only today
So real, the pain growing in my soul
Of climbing up to realitys goal
But I hit hard at the battle thats confronting me, yeah
Knock down all the roaddblocks a-stumbling me
Throw off all the shackles that are binding me down
Long promised road
Trail starts at dawn
Carries on to the seasons ending
Long promised road
Flows to the source, gentle force, never ending, never ending
So hard to lift the jeweled sceptre
When the weight turns a smile to a frown
So hard to drink of passion nectar
When the taste of lifes holding me down
So hard to plant the seed of reform
To set my sights on defeating the storm
So I hit hard at the battle thats confronting me, yeah
Knock down all the roaddblocks a-stumbling me
Throw off all the shackles that are binding me down
Oh, yeah-eah-eah-eah
Hit hard at the battle thats confronting me, yeah
Knock down all the roaddblocks a-stumbling me
Throw off all the shackles that are binding me down
Oh, yeah-eah-eah-eah
Hit hard at the battle thats confronting me, yeah
Knock down all the roaddblocks a-stumbling me
Throw off all the shackles that are binding me down

Desert Plains

Full moon is rising
The sky is black
I need your call Im coming back
The road is straight cast
Winds in my eyes
The engine roars between my thighs
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love
Wild mountain thunder
Echoes my quest
My body aches but Ill not rest
Quartz light to guide me
Till sunrise leads
My passion screams, my heart it bleeds
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love
Then in the distance
I see you stand
On the horizon you raise your hand
In burning rubber
I end my quest
You fall into my arms at last
From desert plains I bring you love
From desert plains I bring you love

The Magic Goal

The magic moment,
The magic goal,
And like the black antelope! !
But, this poem is twisted to teach you.
The wind blows up everything,
The heat dries up everything,
The rain wets up everything,
But this poet of this poem is beside you;
And like an ordinary man in iniform and,
A hunter with a gun in the hand!
The magic moment,
The magic goal,
But everything came out! !
And, there is hope for the future;
Yes, a light of hope on this feelings,
But, how is this thing calculated? !
I want to know.
For, form, formed, formally, forward, forced;
And like the shadow girl and the shadow boy!
Forbearance, forbade, forcibly, forearm, forest;
And like the shadow man and the shadow woman!
Oder, disorder, older, folder, founder, lender, sender;
But, stumbling across the sands of Adfrica.

Mirage

How is it that, being gone, you fill my days,
And all the long nights are made glad by thee?
No loneliness is this, nor misery,
But great content that these should be the ways
Whereby the Fancy, dreaming as she strays,
Makes bright and present what she would would be.
And who shall say if the reality
Is not with dreams so pregnant. For delays
And hindrances may bar the wished-for end;
A thousand misconceptions may prevent
Our souls from coming near enough to blend;
Let me but think we have the same intent,
That each one needs to call the other, "friend!"
It may be vain illusion. I'm content.

Psalm 62

My soul waits silently for God
He alone is my defence
In a cruel and wicked world
He alone makes sense

Trust in Him all ye people
Find your strength in Him alone
All else is lies and vain imagination
It's Calvary's work that does atone

This life is but a vapor
And riches cannot save your soul
Lift up your eyes and see the power
Christ alone must be your goal

Thunder

Thunder - all thru the night
Promise to see jesus in the morning light
Take my hand, itll be alright
Cmon save your soul tonight
Oooo - thunder
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Love - nobody know just how it was born
Love - first came to me with the radio on
Jumped up in my body with an attitude
Kissed me on the mouth and said your leader take me to
twas like thunder all thru the night
And a promise to see jesus in the morning light
Love say take my hand, itll be alright
Cmon save your soul tonight
Loves kiss was running all thru my veins
The bed started shakin, I dont know who to blame
Me or this flower right in front of my eyes
Is this my sweet savior or the devil in disguise
twas like thunder (oh) all thru the night (all through)
Promise to see jesus in the morning light
Love say take my hand, itll be alright
Cmon save your soul tonight
Thunder - hey hey
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
(it was truly truly)
Like rain falling on a window pane
Tears came to my eyes when I asked her name
Made me holler when it finally came
Said only the children born of me will remain
twas like thunder all thru the night
And a promise to see jesus in the morning light (mornin light)
Love say take my hand, itll be alright
Cmon save your soul tonight
Thunder
It will be all right (all right)
(it was truly like thunder)
Dont do it like that, do it like this
Oh oh (thunder) oh oh (thunder) oh ohhhhhh
Thunder (thunder)
(thunder)
(it was truley truly like)
Like thunder (thunder) all thru the night (thunder yeah)
Promise to see jesus in the morning light (it will be all right)
Love say take my hand, itll be alright (its gonna be alright)

Wild flowers

A speck of Kalahari desert
sun baked and stretching
as far as the eye could see
where winds had blown
red-brown sand before
the air was sweet with the odour
of thousands of wild flowers.

Everywhere were different colours,
shapes and sizes
and nature had set its garden
right there in the desert of Namakwaland
and the miracle that a few showers
of rain brought
stretched out all around me.

A Vision Of Doom

I stood upon a hill. The setting sun
Was crimson with a curse and a portent,
And scarce his angry ray lit up the land
That lay below, whose lurid gloom appeared
Freaked with a moving mist, which, reeking up
From dim tarns hateful with some horrid ban,
Took shapes forbidden and without a name.
Gigantic night-birds, rising from the reeds
With cries discordant, startled all the air,
And bodiless voices babbled in the gloom-
The ghosts of blasphemies long ages stilled,
And shrieks of women, and men's curses. All
These visible shapes, and sounds no mortal ear
Had ever heard, some spiritual sense
Interpreted, though brokenly; for I
Was haunted by a consciousness of crime,
Some giant guilt, but whose I knew not. All
These things malign, by sight and sound revealed,
Were sin-begotten; that I knew-no more
And that but dimly, as in dreadful dreams
The sleepy senses babble to the brain
Imperfect witness. As I stood a voice,
But whence it came I knew not, cried aloud
Some words to me in a forgotten tongue,
Yet straight I knew me for a ghost forlorn,
Returned from the illimited inane.
Again, but in a language that I knew,
As in reply to something which in me
Had shaped itself a thought, but found no words,
It spake from the dread mystery about:
'Immortal shadow of a mortal soul
That perished with eternity, attend.
What thou beholdest is as void as thou:
The shadow of a poet's dream-himself
As thou, his soul as thine, long dead,
But not like thine outlasted by its shade.
His dreams alone survive eternity
As pictures in the unsubstantial void.
Excepting thee and me (and we because
The poet wove us in his thought) remains
Of nature and the universe no part
Or vestige but the poet's dreams. This dread,
Unspeakable land about thy feet, with all
Its desolation and its terrors-lo!
'T is but a phantom world. So long ago
That God and all the angels since have died
That poet lived-yourself long dead-his mind
Filled with the light of a prophetic fire,
And standing by the Western sea, above
The youngest, fairest city in the world,
Named in another tongue than his for one
Ensainted, saw its populous domain
Plague-smitten with a nameless shame. For there
Red-handed murder rioted; and there
The people gathered gold, nor cared to loose
The assassin's fingers from the victim's throat,
But said, each in his vile pursuit engrossed:
'Am I my brother's keeper? Let the Law
Look to the matter.' But the Law did not.
And there, O pitiful! the babe was slain
Within its mother's breast and the same grave
Held babe and mother; and the people smiled,
Still gathering gold, and said: 'The Law, the Law,'
Then the great poet, touched upon the lips
With a live coal from Truth's high altar, raised
His arms to heaven and sang a song of doom
Sang of the time to be, when God should lean
Indignant from the Throne and lift his hand,
And that foul city be no more!-a tale,
A dream, a desolation and a curse!
No vestige of its glory should survive
In fact or memory: its people dead,
Its site forgotten, and its very name
Disputed.'

'Was the prophecy fulfilled?'
The sullen disc of the declining sun
Was crimson with a curse and a portent,
And scarce his angry ray lit up the land
That lay below, whose lurid gloom appeared
Freaked with a moving mist, which, reeking up
From dim tarns hateful with a horrid ban,
Took shapes forbidden and without a name.
Gigantic night-birds, rising from the reeds
With cries discordant, startled all the air,
And bodiless voices babbled in the gloom.
But not to me came any voice again;
And, covering my face with thin, dead hands,
I wept, and woke, and cried aloud to God!

No Taking My Fire and Passion

There's a fire in my eyes
a passion in my soul
that no one can quench.
This fire that leads my life
takes no pauses
this passion has ne doing
anything and everything
to do what my passion commands
the desires of my passion
are unquenchable and
uncontainable. you want some
of this girls free tough
you can't get none. you want to
take her passion away
goodluck. hahaha your
feeble attempts make me
laugh. There is no taking
my fire or passion too.
so not sorry and I hope you'll
one day find a fire and passion
of your own rather than trying to take mine

Night Watch

Written by bob welch.
Go on, you know youre only one
Set me free
You take me up and turn around
But let me in
Take this shadow from my eyes
And tell me everything
Take the desert from my soul
And lift me up from down below
Let me take some pride in your creation
Cause I have lived alone in castles that were lonely
And I have cursed the dawn and wondered why I do
Well I have wondered why I live
Now I know you must forgive
Let me stand inside your magic shadow
The night is coming faster
And youre feeling all unchained
In the north there is a jungle
Where rockets are aflame
And I hope that in the desert
There are ships and there is noise
And above the greatest city
There will shine a magic shadow
And a voice
Its taking long but Im getting strong as I grow old
Please believe me let the magic reach me and I will unfold
Ill step aboard with you onday
And see my dust just melt away
And then Ill step inside your magic shadow
Dreamers...
Ooooh...ooooooh...ooooooohhhhhhh
Magic shadows
Ooooh...ooooooh...ooooooohhhhhhhh
Have you seen, have you seen
Have you seen, have you seen
Have you seen, have you seen
Have you seen, have you seen magic shadows
Have you seen, have you seen magic shadows
Have you seen, have you seen magic shadows
Have you seen, have you seen magic shadows...
Ooooh...ooooooh...ooooooohhhhhhhh

If from the hand of calamity an ill-natured man escapes into the sky
The evil disposition of his own nature retains him in calamity.

Renunciation

ROSE of the desert of my heart,
Moon of the night that is my soul,
Thou can'st not know how sweet thou art,
Nor what wild tides thy beams control.

For all thy heart a garden is,
Thy soul is like a dawn of May.
And garden and dawn might both be his,
Who from them both must turn away.

Oh, garden of the Spring's delight!
Oh, dewy dawn of perfect noon!
I will not pluck thy roses white
Or warm thy May-time into June.

I can but bless thee, moon and rose,
And journey far and very far
To where the night no moonbeam shows,
To where no happy roses are!
