How Can We See That Far

We said our promises by candlelight
You hold my hands, I was dressed in white
We were young
How can we see that far?
How can we see that far?
I knew I wanted you like no one else
I told my momma that Id found myself
In your eyes
How can we see that far?
How can we see that far?
But like your daddy said
The same sun that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind that knocks us down
If we lean into it
Will drive our fears away.
And when I woke in the dead of night
To hold my hands, push away the fright
Life had come--a son
How can we see that far?
Yeah, we were nervous and a little scared
Until the music of our babys cry
Filled the air
How can we see that far?
But like your daddy said
The same sun that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind that knocks us down
If we lean into it
Will drive our fears away.
We might die
We might live
We could hurt each other badly
Do things, things so hard to forgive
Ooooh, and if time is not our friend
Your mind might forget me before the end
And oh, I cannot
I cannot look that far.
But like your daddy said
How can we see that far?
The same sun that melts the wax can harden clay
And the same rain that drowns the rat will grow the hay
And the mighty wind that knocks us down
If we lean into it
How can we see that far?
Got to lean into it
Will drive our fears away
Its the same sun, yeah
And the same rain
Its the same sun
And the same rain.

Old Man Rain

Old Man Rain at the windowpane
Knocks and fumbles and knocks again:
His long-nailed fingers slip and strain:
Old Man Rain at the windowpane
Knocks all night but knocks in vain.
Old Man Rain.

Old Man Rain at the windowpane
Reels and shambles along the lane:
His old gray whiskers drip and drain:
Old Man Rain with fuddled brain
Reels and staggers like one insane.
Old Man Rain.

Old Man Rain is back again,
With old Mis' Wind at the windowpane,
Dancing there with her tattered train:
Her old shawl flaps as she whirls again
In the wildman dance and is torn in twain.
Old Mis' Wind and Old Man Rain.

A Lyric From The Heart! ! !

a lad in the falling rain
with his mighty umbrella
moves through the flooded road
he feels the water cold

through the way,
in the rain,
by blowing wind
a 'DUPATTA' touched his face
with the wet touch the cloth
she moves with the drip-drip music of the rain

she turns to him,
her smile touches his heart
soon the wind blowed the rain
even in that wet look
she is just like an angel
an angel from heaven in the rain

like the wind moved the rain
she moved him
her eyes carried him
through the unknown way
something he had to say
he dont know, how to say
some words raised in his mind

he singed the unknown words
in the drip-drip music of rain
she heard his
she looked him with a smile

the rain went off
calm & cold wind blowed
Ecstasy of the evening
with a rejuvenated feel
he walked back
with the drip-drip music of rain
and with the lyrics from his heart! !

In the year of fourteen ninety-two
When columbus sailed the ocean blue
Had he landed on indias shore
You might never have come to knock on my door.
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
Some dreams were made to find
So I know that I must follow
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, Im galileo
Even on the darkest night oh
I will find the shining light of our love.
Through the rain clouds thundering nights
Mr. franklin stood there holding his kite
He was crazy always pressing his luck
But he got what he wanted when lightning struck, yeah.
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
Some dreams were made to find
So I know that I must follow
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, Im galileo
Even on the darkest night oh
I will find the shining light.
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, Im galileo
Even on the darkest night oh
I will find the shining light of our love.
I believe in you and the special love we could share
And maybe one day darling youll turn around
And all I really know is I will be there.
Who needs a rhyme or a reason
This dream was made to find
So I know that I will follow
Ask me just how much I love you
You are starlight, Im galileo
Even on the darkest night oh
I will find the shining light
I will find the shining light of our love.
Ask me just how much I love you

Whiskey In The Jar

(has also been recorded by thin lizzy)
As i was going over the cork and kerry mountains
I saw captain farrell and his money he was counting
I first produced my pistol and then produced my rapier
I said "stand and deliver or the devil he may take you"
Yeah
I took all of his money and it was a pretty penny
I took all of his money, yeah, and i brought it home to molly
She swore that she loved me, no, never would she leave me
But the devil take that woman, yeah, for you know she tricked me easy
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Being drunk and weary i went to molly's chamber
Taking molly with me, but i never knew the danger
For about six or maybe seven, yeah, in walked captain farrell
I jumped up, fired my pistols, and i shot him with both barrels, yeah
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da, yeah-yeah
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o
Yeah, whiskey
Yo-ooh, whiskey
Yo-ooh, yeah-ee-yeah, ooh
Yo-oo-oo-ooh, yeah
Now some men like the fishing and some men like the fowling
And some men like to hear, to hear the cannonball a-roaring
Me i like sleeping, especially in my molly's chamber
But here i am in prison, here i am with a ball and chain, yeah
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da, yeah-yeah
Whack for my daddy-o
Whack for my daddy-o
There's whiskey in the jar-o, yeah
Whiskey in the jar-o, yeah
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da, hey
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da
Musha rain dum-a-do-dum-a-da, yeah

When That I Was & A Little Tiny Boy

When that I was and a little tiny boy
With a hey-ho
The wind and the rain
A foolish thing was but a toy
For the rain it raineth
Every day
But when I came to mans estate
With a hey-ho
The wind and the rain
gainst knaves and thieves men shut their gate
For the rain it raineth
Every day
But when I came alas to wife
With a hey-ho
The wind and the rain
By swaggering I could never fright
For the rain it raineth
Every day
But when I came unto my bed
With a hey-ho
The wind and the rain
With tosspots still a drunken head
For the rain it raineth
Every day
A great while ago the world began
With a hey-ho
The wind and the rain
But thats all one our play is done
And well strive to please you
Every day

Possum Holler

Duet by Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner
Writer Dallas Frazier
Copyright 1967
As time goes by the tales grow taller about possum in Possum Holler
As a young man I'd go a courtin' with my sweetheart so young and fair
Down the mountain to Possum Holler that's where he'd always find me waitin'
there
Now I tell my mama that I's goin' out walkin' neath the moonlight so bright and
fair
And I'd tell daddy I was huntin' possum
And take off a grinnin' and a slickin' down my hair
As time goes by the tales grow taller about possum in Possum Holler
Then one evening in Possum Holler my sweetheart's daddy stopped all our fun
Yeah we got married in Possum Holler just you and me my daddy and daddy's gun
As time goes by the tales grow taller about possum in Possum Holler
Now when they see a possum hunter young and handsome and a smellin' fair
We just lean back and bust our laughin' cause we know there ain't no possum
there
As time goes by the tales grow taller about possum in Possum Holler
About possum in Possum Holler

Rain Tears

Rain, tears, rain, tears,
Melding in torrential fears:
Chill of cloud; saddened eye-
In either way, a latent cry.

Rain, tears, rain, tears,
Married under sceptic jeers:
‘They'll never last.' Methinks not true, for
Either way, forever blue.

Rain, tears, rain, tears,
Simple love with lacy cares,
Their intercourse will ne'er refrain
From rain and tears and tears and rain.

Music Man

Recently Ive been thinkin about what I am and where my priorities lie
Gettin it together on some future plan, decidin what I need to get by
I tried workin and schoolin but there just not my plan, oh no
Cant ya see Ill always be a music man
Well I could be pickin bluegrass or singin the blues,
It doesnt really matter to me
As long as Im playin the music I just cant lose,
And noones gonna tell me differently
Cause all I really care about is sittin right here in my hands,
Oh yeah
Cant ya see Ill always be a music man
Well my momma sits and worries about me for days
Even though she really likes the way the boy plays
My daddy tells her Im just goin through a phase
But thats just what he always says
I hear what theyre sayin but I take it with a grain of sand, oh yeah
Cant ya see Ill always be a music man
(repeat) yeah
(solo)
Well my momma sits and worries about me for days
Even though she really likes the way the boy plays
My daddy tells her that Im goin through a phase
But thats just what he always says
I hear what theyre sayin but I take it with a grain of sand, oh yeah
Cant ya see Ill always be a music man
Well Ive told you my story now heres what Ive found
To be happy you need only be real
So dont let anyone try to turn your head around
Just remember you are what you feel
You see all of my life people been tryin to tell me what I am, oh yeah
Cant ya see Ill always be a music man, oh yeah

Ask Me

Amy grant/tom hemby
Copyright 1991 age to age music, inc./edward grant, inc./puxico music (ascap), adm. by reunion music group, inc.
This song is about a girlfriend of mine. if you or someone you love has been a victim of sexual abuse, please dont be afraid to seek help. the sexual abuse helpline is open 24 hours a day, and
Ne who cares is waiting for your call...(800)4a-child
I see her as a little girl hiding in her room
She takes another bath and she sprays her mommas perfume
To try to wipe away the scent he left behind
But it haunts her mind.
You see shes his little rag, nothing more than just a waif
And hes mopping up his need, she is tired and afraid
Maybe shell find a way through these awful years to disappear.
Ask me if I think theres a God up in the heaven
Where did he go in the middle of her shame?
Ask me if I think theres a God up in the heavens
I see no mercy and no one down heres naming names
Nobodys naming names.
Now shes looking in the mirror at a lovely woman face
No more frightened little girl, like shes gone without a trace
Still she leaves the light burning in the hall
Its hard to sleep at all.
Still she crawls up in her bed acting quiet as a mouse
Deep inside shes listening for a creaking in the house
But noones left to harm her, shes finally safe and sound
Theres a peace shes found.
Ask her how she knows theres a God up in the heaven
Where did he go in the middle of her shame?
Ask her how she knows theres a God up in the heavens
She said his mercy is bringing her life again.
Ask me how I know theres a God up in the heaven
(how do you know? )
Where did he go in the middle of her shame
(where did he go? )
Ask me how I know theres a God up in the heavens
(how do you know? )
She said his mercy is bringing her life again
Shes coming to life again.
Hes in the middle of her pain
In the middle of her shame
Mercy brings life
Hes in the middle
Mercy in the middle.
So ask me how I know
Ask me how I know, yeah
Ask me how I know theres a God up in the heaven
(how do you know? )
Ask me how I know theres a God up in the heavens
(how do you know? )
Yeah, ask me how I know
(how do you know? )
Ask me
Ask me
Ask me how I know
(how do you know? )
Theres a God up in the heavens
Ask me how I know theres a God up in the heavens.

Latter Rain

In a world of trouble and pain
I find I'm blessed by latter rain;
That rain which God bestows in time
When going is hard and things aren't fine.
For, all living things need rain to grow
Plants, animals and man also,
Now I must grow, not live in vain -
But only through God's latter rain.

Ball And Chain

Yeah! alright!
Sittin' down by my window,
Honey, lookin' out at the rain.
Lord, lord, lord, sittin' down by my window,
Baby, lookin' out at the rain.
Somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
And it felt just like a ball and chain.
Honey, that's exactly what it felt like,
Honey, just dragging me down.
And i say, oh, whoa, whoa, now hon', tell me why,
Why does every single little tiny thing i hold on goes wrong ?
Yeah it all goes wrong, yeah.
And i say, oh, whoa, whoa, now babe, tell me why,
Why does every thing, every thing.
Hey, here you gone today, i wanted to love you,
Honey, i just wanted to hold you, i said, for so long,
Yeah! alright! hey!
Love's got a hold on me, baby,
Feels just like a ball and chain.
Now, love's just draggin' me down, baby, yeah,
Feels like a ball and chain.
I hope there's someone out there who could tell me
Why the man i love wanna leave me in so much pain.
Yeah, maybe, maybe you could help me, come on, help me!
And i say, oh, whoa, whoa, now hon', tell me why,
Now tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me why, yeah.
And i say, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, when i ask you,
When i need to know why, c'mon tell me why, hey hey hey,
Here you've gone today,
I wanted to love you and hold you
Till the day i die.
I said whoa, whoa, whoa!!
And i say oh, whoa, whoa, no honey
It ain't fair, daddy it ain't fair what you do,
I see what you're doin' to me and you know it ain't fair.
And i say oh, whoa whoa now baby
It ain't fair, now, now, now, what you do
I said hon' it ain't fair what, hon' it ain't fair what you do.
Oh, here you gone today and all i ever wanted to do
Was to love you
Honey an' i think there can be nothing wrong with that,
Only it ain't wrong, no, no, no, no, no.
Sittin' down by my window,
Lookin' at the rain.
Lord, lord, lord, sittin' down by my window,
Lookin' at the rain, see the rain.
Somethin' came along, grabbed a hold of me,
And it felt like a ball and chain.
Oh this can't be in vain
And i'm gonna tell you one just more time, yeah, yeah!
And i say oh, whoa whoa, now baby
This can't be, no this can't be in vain,
And i say no no no no no no no no, whoa!
And i say whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Now now now now now now now now now no no not in vain
Hey, hope there is someone that could tell me
Hon', tell me why,
Hon', tell me why love is like
Just like a ball
Just like a ball
Baaaaaaalllll
Oh daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy
And a chain.
Yeah!
Goodnight and thank you for coming and have a happy happy easter sunday.

To Daddy

Momma never seemed to miss the finer things in life
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
She never wanted to be more than mother and a wife
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
The only things that seemed to be important in her life
Was to make our house a home and make us happy
Momma never wanted anymore than what she had
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
He often left her all alone
She didnt mind the stayin home
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
And she never missed the flowers
And the gifts he never gave her
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
Being took for granted was a thing that she accepted
And she didnt need those things to make her happy
She didnt even seem to notice
That he didnt kiss and hold her
If she did, she never did say so to daddy
Chorus:
One morning we awoke
Just to find the note
That momma carefully wrote
And left to daddy
And as he began to read it
Our ears could not believe it
The words that she had written there to daddy
She said our kids are old enough
And they dont need me very much
So Ive gone in search for love I need so badly
I have needed you so long
But I just cant keep holdin on
She never meant to come back home
If she did, she never did say so to daddy

Rain CAN

rain cant tell a lie,
rain can be louder then a fly,

rain cant make shoes
rain can hit the roof

rain cant be nice (person wise)
rain can make ice

rain cant bleed
rain can grow a seed

rain cant draw a toon
rain can make a tune

rain cant be a loon
rain can make a monsoon

so rain can and cant do alot of things.
here comes the rain!
oh look! it's spring!

daddy Would Come To Rock Your Cradle..

Mother said, 'Sleep baby sleep, daddy would come to rock your cradle..'
But Daddy you never came...
I waited for you in the lonely nights but you never came...

Mother said, 'Sleep baby sleep, daddy would come to rock your cradle..'

It was a moonlit night I found myself talking to the stars..'when would daddy come to tell me a story..' Now that I don't sleep in the cradle..
The wind whispered in my ear, 'Sleep baby sleep, Daddy would come when you'd blow your b'day candle..'

I remember what my Mother said..'Sleep baby sleep.....

It was my B'day..I din't blow a candle but I closed my eyes to make a wish..and I found myself saying 'Daddy you never came, please come & make me blow a candle.'
But Daddy you never came & things are not the same....

They don't love me anymore & I am waiting for you...one day you will knock the door...

Its been so many years & I'm learning how to survive..I'm lonely, my fears don't let me trust anyone..
The light of love never shines on me...

The baby inside me is so scared to open up...It still yearns for love & protection, which never rained on me...

Wish all my tears become a wish & then I then I won't cry because of the fear of loosing a wish which time could never erase...

I wish to become a baby once again, I won't sleep b'cos I want to see mommy & daddy together...

I want to relive all those moments which I spent without you...
I want to ask so many questions daddy...

Why din't you wipe my tears when I was surrounded by unknown fears..?
Did you sleep at night when I was fighting with my demons..?
Would you love me, would you hug me one day..?

I promise I'll try to forgive you.....

But I know you will never come, b'cos..you never cared for us..you are happy in your world...

I know we've come a long way & it doesn't hurt anymore...
Things will change for good..I am sure..

Oh...but it still hurts when I hear some mother singing this song once again..
''Sleep baby sleep, daddy would come to rock your cradle....'

Rain On Me O' Rain Rain Rain

o' rain rain rain
come rain on me o' rain
rain on every plant that grow o' dear rain
rain on every resource o' dear rain
rain to green the plants
the plants that of nature's decor
rain on us and never let go
quench my thirst; to get so
rain on me o' rain rain rain

rain for happiness and leisure
rain for our children to play
rain on the soil for us this day
so, we plant more food to feed us this way
go to the fields and gardens; same way
rain o' beautiful rain

The House Of Dust: Part 01: 01: The sun goes down in a cold pale flare of light

The sun goes down in a cold pale flare of light.
The trees grow dark: the shadows lean to the east:
And lights wink out through the windows, one by one.
A clamor of frosty sirens mourns at the night.
Pale slate-grey clouds whirl up from the sunken sun.

And the wandering one, the inquisitive dreamer of dreams,
The eternal asker of answers, stands in the street,
And lifts his palms for the first cold ghost of rain.
The purple lights leap down the hill before him.
The gorgeous night has begun again.

'I will ask them all, I will ask them all their dreams,
I will hold my light above them and seek their faces.
I will hear them whisper, invisible in their veins . . .'
The eternal asker of answers becomes as the darkness,
Or as a wind blown over a myriad forest,
Or as the numberless voices of long-drawn rains.

We hear him and take him among us, like a wind of music,
Like the ghost of a music we have somewhere heard;
We crowd through the streets in a dazzle of pallid lamplight,
We pour in a sinister wave, ascend a stair,
With laughter and cry, and word upon murmured word;
We flow, we descend, we turn . . . and the eternal dreamer
Moves among us like light, like evening air . . .

Good-night! Good-night! Good-night! We go our ways,
The rain runs over the pavement before our feet,
The cold rain falls, the rain sings.
We walk, we run, we ride. We turn our faces
To what the eternal evening brings.

Our hands are hot and raw with the stones we have laid,
We have built a tower of stone high into the sky,
We have built a city of towers.

Our hands are light, they are singing with emptiness.
Our souls are light; they have shaken a burden of hours . . .
What did we build it for? Was it all a dream? . . .
Ghostly above us in lamplight the towers gleam . . .
And after a while they will fall to dust and rain;
Or else we will tear them down with impatient hands;
And hew rock out of the earth, and build them again.

Hold Back The Rain

Were miles away from nowhere
And the wind doesnt have a name
So call it what you want to call it
Still blows down the lane
People tell me, I havent changed at all
But I dont feel the same
And I bet youve had that feeling too
You just cant laugh all the time
And if the fires burn out theres only fire to blame
(hold back the rain)
No time for worry cause were on the roam again.
(hold back the rain)
The clouds all scatter and we ride the outside lane
(hold back the rain)
Not on your own so help me please.. hold back the rain
-
So what if the words aint rhyming
Did you think that its just a game
I probably didnt even say that right
And I really dont give a damn
Okay go off and wander
Im guilty just the same
Sometimes youre needed badly
So please come back again
(chorus)
-
And if the stars burn out, theirs only fire to blame
(hold back the rain)
No time for worry cause were on the roam again.
(hold back the rain)
The clouds all scatter and we ride the outside lane
(hold back the rain)
Not on your own so help me please.. hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
Hold back the rain
(repeated..)

See me cruisin' in my caddy
Ho's they like to call me "Daddy Cool"
When I'm stylin'
Just rollin on the island

Keep a case of brew in my back seat
Got a pocket full of cash hey

Verse 2 - Kid Rock
Mackin' to this phat beat
Bass pushin' through my back seat
You know I got that gangsta lean
Ho's they all adore me
I stop and they all swarm me
To check out all my fly gold rings
The treat my like the mayor
Cause I'm the biggest player
(Joe C) Mackin' all honeys up here in the "D" baby (Kid Rock) You know I do
Grubbin' on some pork rinds
Kickin' out them sex rhymes
Everybody wants to be my friend
But I can't be your friend no
Unless you got some endo to smoke
(Joe C.) I ain't no joke
(Joe C.)
Call Me Cool (Daddy Cool)
I'm Cool (Daddy Cool)

A forty and fat-tay
Daddy, so I'm down with you
Verse 3 - Kid Rock
Now some people say my mind's blown
I'm coolin' like a snow cone
On my cell phone
I'm paid, G
Can't call me
Just page me
Young ladies, young ladies
I like 'em underage see
Some say that's statutory
(Joe C.) But I say it's MANDATORY!
My story ain't that complex
Two forties and a Rolex
I rip, I rock, I roll G
I trim my hair with the Flowbee
Got soul G
Like Al Green
Co-coolin' like the A-Team
From Maine to San Francisco
I'm shootin like a pistol
I'm so slick, I'm Crisco
