A Rising Star
A rising star’s light has been distinguished in the heavens today. Twenty-seven years the light shined on the world. Two months you knew yet it could not be helped. A swift wind blew the light from your candle. No more its beauty will gleam amongst the heavenly bodies. So short-lived this soul gone but never will be forgotten. Taken from us this day on your journey to the ever after. You have gone to be with our ancestors. May they embrace you in their loving arms and welcome you.
Such a strange time to leave us but no one knows when they will be beckoned home. We have no choice but to answer the call. We wish her well and we shall meet again one day for energy cannot be destroyed.
We will remember your laughter and joy when we reminisce about the good times. We will miss you dearly. Our thoughts, our hearts, and prayers will be your parents. God bless you Enia Douglas Mellers. Farewell and peaceful journey to you. Rest in peace for you at God’s side now.

this is dedicated to leslies nephew- our prayers are with him
we saw the smile upon your face when
you felt the LORDS tender embrace.
when he told you it was time for you to depart
but that you'd always be in our hearts.
you went with our LORD, for you knew

Tears For The Dying (d0 You Remember)
“Do you remember? ”
I have come to realize that you don’t have a clue
You have not a clue to why I’ve stopped talking to you
It is simply for I have no choice
The pain is too great when I hear your voice
Inside the hunger and the pain is killing me
Knowing you and I will never more be
The mails you write brings me grief
For the hurt there is just no relief
Without you life is too unfulfilling
Distancing now myself I am now willing
Please to these words do not deserve responding
For I cannot stand the thought of us never belonging
This morning I awoke in tears
For me now no one cares
Me lying with arms open wide
Dreaming you were by my side
Reaching out to give you an embrace
But you vanished without even a trace
No longer now can I kiss your face
Between us now such distance and too much space
Sadden eyes dies lacking an opinion
Chances gone now of any chanced reunion

A Mother's Choice
My dear, every journey
Begins with one single step,
then another, they alternate
with each other, and the body
follows close behind.
Setting out on my journey in
joyous life, I came to a fork
in the gravel road.
Looking down one
then the other, choosing the
one with less footprints-
Unconsciously- keeping the
other for another point in time.

God Is The Light
God is the Light
How great the wonders of the heavens
And the timeless beauty of the night
How great then how great the Creator?
And its stars like priceless jewels
Far beyond the reach of kings
Bow down for the shepherd guiding him home.
But how many eyes are closed
To the wonder of this night?
Like pearls, hidden, deep beneath a dark
Stream of desires.
But like dreams vanish with the call to prayer
And the dawn extinguishes night here too are signs.

Loving Mother
i remember
loving mother on her
last hours on her
deathbed
spider webs
embroidered in her eyes
blurring from the
morning light
unable to read us
simply imagining
the images
flashing like neon
lights one evening
on that last day
she called my name
and she asked me
something
but i did not answer
anymore
i told her
it is time for her to go
that she must go in peace
that an angel shall meet her
like the light at the end of her tunnel
i held her hand gently
and she closed her eyes
i said a prayer
to send her there.

Death Angel in my eyes
In this hat of the ancestors sacrifice,
In this hurt of the spirit of my conscience,
I go because I must leave to feast with the legends,
I am leaving the shining African valleys, agents
I must leave, do not lament, you will rune my journey,
May I put down my soul’s tools?
I am famous in keens and tours of the African land,
Near and far they breathe my prominence,
I was acknowledged by all; traditional herbalist, scientist,
Clowns, technicians, artists, rascals, workers
Lazybones of noble African land but out of the rest;
I need no company from any of them,

This journey is my specific unaccompanied,

What Matters To Me
what matters to me
definitely is not the family
for i do not have any, and i
like to think that what should have mattered to me
is a good education
but i have it anyway and all those years
that good education has not really turned me
into a perfect person
and so i think of something else that must matter
could be money but it has turned me into a slave
could be honor, but it amassed in me more arrogance
could be class and rank and societal functions, but they are but
parts of my day to day existence
and then i go into other matters that most people think really matter:
God, divine light,
prostrate, bending and begging,
humility, prayer
and i tried all these things, inside and outside, the holy grounds,
my sandals left outside the door,
kissing the soil, and raising my arms all for the embrace of God,
nothing happens, i am still in the chains of my flesh, in the sinning
of every hour, in the darkness of my soul,
in the middle of my sorrow,
and i think some more, and more and more,
what matters most is that i must only be patient and i must wait
things are here, things are there, whatever is here, whatever is there
and they are always unfolding, revealing and always telling
what matters most of all, at the end, is always the beginning
watching the days go by,
vigilant when they come and go
and as they once said, what matters most is the journey
just the journey
just this journey
just my own journey
to where? who knows?
what matters most is the question not really the answer
to where? and why? who knows?

Some roads we take,
are long and dusty,
