The Ascetic
The Narrow, thorny path he trod.
“Enter into My joy,” said God.
The sad ascetic shook his head;
“I’ve lost all taste for joy,” he said.

The Gardener XLIII: No, My Friends
No, my friends, I shall never be an
ascetic, whatever you may say.
I shall never be and ascetic if she
does not take the vow with me.
It is my firm resolve that if I
cannot find a shady shelter and a
companion for my penance, I shall
never turn ascetic.
No, my friends, I shall never leave
my hearth and home, and retire into
the forest solitude, if rings no merry
laughter in its echoing shade and if
the end of no saffron mantle flutters
in the wind; if its silence is not
deepened by soft whispers.
I shall never be an ascetic.

The Ruler and the Ruled {4}
A fresh graduate after his service
For job he roamed the province
There were vacancies in the ministry
He applied for one immediately
The director looked at him and inquired
'Your certificate is exactly what is required
But are you a relative to the president? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you an in law to the vice? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you a family friend to a senator? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are a cousin to the speaker? '
He shook his head and said no
'Are you a neighbour to a minister? '
He shook his head and said no
'Sorry, young man you cannot get a job in this tower
You did not pass the nomination of any big man in power
Although your certificate speaks good of your prowess
Try your luck somewhere else'

Taking The Narrow Path
this is the narrow path
of disbelief
one gets elbow to elbow
with uncertainties
in a party of masks
one talks to someone
without a name
with no place to stay
this is the narrow path
it only you that fits in
and all they say when they pass
are excuses
this is the narrow path of silence
questions hang like stars in the skies
you are a grain of sand
below a full moon
you look for light and comfort
there is so much
but you have none

Path of thorns
Walking through the future branches
I know not about the sharp excrescence on its plants
Not knowing about the various thorny shrubs
Makes me wonder how painful the thorny future buzz
But lying ahead is a shining morning on a thorny curb
Legs on the spiny protuberances blemishes
Just to get to the shining morning of my future premises
Where thorn of mercy, hapiness, and joy lays
Thorny future filled with opportunity and grace
But the thorn on the future path
causes sharp pain, irritation, discomfort bath
Causing irritation, annoyance, and burns
Letting out its anger, hatred and love
On the future path filled with thorns
Who knows if the shining morning ahead
have his own beaming thorns?
May be even sharper than the ones on its path and curb.

Novo Capitulo
As I walk upon the Narrow path
No coming back was set
As I step on a shallow wrath
One foot was unto death
I hear voices from the dark
and of fading strong drum beats
The voice that tells the back of my head
that lately I'll be dead.
But the honey, the gold, the diamonds
The knowledge & the love was Ahead
To taste unending sweet new bonds
All your longing will be fed.

Though it is tough
Though it is tough Few tell lies, honesty is found Majority are liars It is much more honorable to be honest Honesty is the best legacy The narrow path leads through narrow path of honesty and so trouble gets far away from our domain We see and acknowledge it is true

Paths
Where we have traveled
Many pathes we unraveled.
Woe the tangled thorny path
Which leaves tears and heartache
In its aftermath.
Sublime is the straight and narrow way
which keeps us in tow from day to day.
Some biways take us askew
We struggle and seek the sublime way anew.
But 'The Road Not Taken' as Mr Frost has descibed
Is deep in our hearts and about to arrive.
6-25-2001 John Francis Shea
I Like You And I Love You
I LIKE YOU Met I LOVE You, face to face;
The path was narrow, and they could not pass.
I LIKE YOU smiled; I LOVE YOU cried, Alas!
And so they halted for a little space.
'Turn thou and go before,' I LOVE YOU said,
'Down the green pathway, bright with many a flower;
Deep in the valley, lo! my bridal bower
Awaits thee.' But I LIKE YOU shook his head.
Then while they lingered on the span-wide shelf
That shaped a pathway round the rocky ledge,
I LIKE You bared his icy dagger's edge,
And first he slew I LOVE You,--then himself.

Reality Scales
Consciousness is the narrow path,
beside the road of our senses.
Our senses are the narrow path,
beside the road of actuality.
Actuality is the narrow path,
beside the road of possibility.
Possibility is the narrow path,
beside the road of our consciousness.

Separate Paths
there are so many paths
and there is only me
this path of mud and holes
and with you
there is this path that i do
not really know
surprises kill me at times
but i keep the pain
please do not take mine
it is too narrow
please do not go with me
go away, please go away
i am simply
not comfortable with you
take the widest path you have.
there are many of you
and the noise is everyday.
i love myself, this loneliness.

Waliking Along The Narrow Path
Something big,
Something short,
Something wide,
Something soft,
Something hard,
Something narrow,
Something wet,
Something dry,
Something sweet!
And like the broad way in the land of your muse;
But, i am walking along the narrow path.

Virtue refuses facility for her companion ... the easy, gentle, and sloping path that guides the footsteps of a good natural disposition is not the path of true virtue. It demands a rough and thorny road.

Enter In
'Enter in, through te narrow gate;
For, wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction! !
And, many are those who go that way'.
However, if you want life, then, the narrow way is what you need;
Because, straight is the gate, and few are hose who have found it!

Oh where is heavens door?
Where do we mortals find that narrow heavenly Door?
Through which millions of people have entered before?
It is found at the cross of Jesus The Crucified
where He paid for our sins and laid down His life and died.
With His arms outstretched so wide and saying, 'Come to me'
there we find forgiveness by His death at Calvary.
Then we see the Door before us swing open so wide
allowing us to pass through the veil to heavens side.
Calvary's cross is the Door through which we can go through.
There is no other entrance only this door will do.
For He is the Way by which we must enter heaven
It is at the cross we must come to be forgiven.
Then as we look behind us on the lintel we see
'Chosen before the foundation of the world in Me.'
Though millions have come yet there is still room for more
God by His Grace has allowed us to go through the Door.
So come to that Door for it is opened wide for you
and taste the glories of heaven as you enter through.
The cry goes out 'whosoever will may enter in'
it is at the Cross where your journey has to begin.
All who enter the door shall be safely kept inside
and there forever with the Lord Jesus they shall abide.
Each one was chosen by God before the world began
Included by His grace as part of salvations plan.

The Path Through The Snow
BARE and sunshiny, bright and bleak,
Rounded cold as a dead maid's cheek,
Folded white as a sinner's shroud,
Or wandering angel's robes of cloud.--
Well I know, well I know
Over the fields the path through the snow.
Narrow and rough it lies between
Wastes where the wind sweeps, biting keen:
Every step of the slippery road
Marks where some weary foot has trod;
Who'll go, who'll go
After the rest on the path through the snow?
They who would tread it must walk alone,
Silent and steadfast--one by one:
Dearest to dearest can only say,
'My heart! I'll follow thee all the way,
As we go, as we go
Each after each on this path through the snow.'
It may be under that western haze
Lurks the omen of brighter days;
That each sentinel tree is quivering
Deep at its core with the sap of spring,
And while we go, while we go,
Green grass-blades pierce thro' the glittering snow.
It may be the unknown path will tend
Never to any earthly end,
Die with the dying day obscure,
And never lead to a human door:
That none know who did go
Patiently once on this path through the snow.
No matter, no matter! the path shines plain;
These pure snow-crystals will deaden pain;
Above, like stars in the deep blue dark,
Eyes that love us look down and mark.
Let us go, let us go,
Whither heaven leads in the path thro' the snow.

God's Grandeur
The world is charged with the grandeur of God.
It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;
It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil
Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?
Generations have trod, have trod, have trod;
And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;
And wears man's smudge |&| shares man's smell: the soil
Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod.
And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs --
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent
World broods with warm breast |&| with ah! bright wings.
