Chikungunya
People in hundreds falling sick,
With a strange malady so belligerent,
Never before had they suffered so much,
From any ailment known to them.
It has spread its virulent hooks,
On everyone both young and old,
Hospitals remain flooded with patients,
Scarce in space to accommodate all.
The sickness starts its sudden onslaught,
With fever followed by symptoms many,
Ruddy face and itching skin,
With swollen body and aching limbs,
People move limping lame,
With ankles strained with darting pain.
A terrible fatigue sways over,
And a few develop loss of taste,
Constant nausea strikes a few,
And bowel control - loses some.
Many are plagued by recurring fever,
And bulging sores are found in some.
No body knows what it is,
The cause for it is yet to be traced.
Experts remain greatly confused,
And its remedy still is never devised.
Some call it Chikungunya,
Others name it viral attack,
When Ades mosquitoes stay the culprit,
Pavro Virus is blamed by some.
Dissensions thus hang very loose,
But the truth remains grievously plain.
Blighted it has the lives of thousands,
And left many to die in pain.
Shame that so far nothing is done,
To arrest its outbreak or slacken its pace,
What use it is to slander others
Or put the blame on people in power?
Alas! The suffering is our own make!
And the price to be paid is our dear life!
The falling hygiene and foul habits,
Have laid us in this sorry plight.
(Written in the month of July 2007 in the wake of the outbreak of Chikungunya, raging mad in the state)

Kill the virus, not us
Kill the virus, not us
Recently this fever is frequently reported
Some even die
People infected by this virus
Range from slum dwellers to farm owners
Even doctors are not spared
Why a very successful film producer
And director too succumbed to this
The blame come on to us, the carriers
We, the Aedes mosquitoes
Thrive on juicy leave saps
And our female members have to have a
Human blood meal
If not for anything else,
For the continuation of our generation
The blood meal is taken early in the morning
Or in the evening with sunlight still being there
We have no clue as to
Whether the person on whom we feed
Suffers an infection of dengue or not
You may not know that
We too get infected by the virus
But we manage well without suffering any symptoms
By the time when all our body fluids
Are enriched with virus it will be
A week or ten days passed
After the blood meal from the infected person
This is when we become real carriers
We have the potential to infect a healthy person
With dengue virus if we happen to bite that person
We are just carriers, not knowing what we carry
Blaming us only is unfair
You hurriedly take measures to eliminate our species
It is not at all possible
We brave all your biological weapons
And you may not be aware that some of us
Have already developed resistance to
Most of your branded repellants and pesticides
We have some of these suggestions
For your staying uninfected by this virus
We admit, we only spread the infection
Remove and clear all such spots
Where we may establish a habitat
We suggest that you use a good mosquito net
And keep us away from you
We repeat, your repellants and pesticides
Are no longer effective against us
Or your genetic stalwarts can engineer
A mutation in us
So that our system itself produces an antigen
Against this virus
And the virus is made non-infective further
Or immunize your people against the virus
Do something with your great scientific effort
To relieve us of this burden around a viral infection
Your mission must be to ensure
That we, the Aedes mosquitoes and you
Have a harmonious co-existence
Kill the cause, not the carriers
Kill the virus, not us

Strange Sickness.
You are the reason for my illness,
You are the remedy for my sickness,
The strange sickness attacks me,
By increasing my heart's rhythm,
Giddiness in the head,
Palpitation at the chest,
Loss of appetite and
Scores of other symptoms,
Feeling quite hot when you are far,
Feeling strange when you are near,
All people seem to be happy and smile,
When you hold my hands,
Everyone seem to be sad and cry,
When you go away from me,
What sickness is this so strange,
That is induced by you?
What sickness is this so unique,
That is cleared by you?
You are the reason for me to be awkward,
Giggle at my mother when she scolds,
You are the reason for me to be childish,
When my father checks my progress,
You are the reason for me to flunk,
Two three subjects all of a sudden,
I am not ashamed of that failure, my love,
As long as you are the cause,
And the remedy for my sickness..
Something in you causes this!
Something in you clears this!

Did You See What Jesus Did?
'Unclean, unclean' the leper had to say
and sadly watch the people run away.
But then to Jesus at the mountainside he came
to be healed of all his sickness and his shame.
Look, did you see what Jesus did?
He touched the leper from whom they hid.
The Holy One touched this unclean soul
and took away his shame making him whole.
Jesus can do the same for you and me
for stricken and smitten of God was He.
All our sins on Him have been laid
when on the cross sins price was paid.
At Calvary His blood He shed
and for our healing suffered and bled.
'Father, forgive' out loud He cried
and the law of God was satisfied.
The leprosy of our sin upon Him was laid
as the price upon that cross He paid.
Deep healing of body, soul and mind
there at the cross of Jesus we can find.
Written after reading Matthew 8: 1-4
With loud bang
With loud bang
I was loosing my sense with loud bang
Sudden burst of cracker’s sound and rang
Big explosion near by and I found senseless
As if no body parts attached and wound on face
I wanted to shout but could not
I tried to move little forward and fought
But of no use and cries all over
How to run for shield or cover?
In seconds it was all over
The dark clouds were seen however
The rain started to pour
I felt so sad with pain and soar
I saw the bodies scattered
My all dreams shattered
It was just bang and loud explosion
Humanity y was on shame with many questions
I want to speak but can’t
I wish to see and want
But I fail as my body doesn’t cooperate
I want to show something and narrate
Please come someone here and pick
People rush from here with panic
Many lay on ground motionless
Awkward and ghastly scene to see and face
O god, hear my prayers and rescue
I am unable raise my voice and review
Who are all fallen victims to attack?
Why so many lives at risk and stake?
May be scores of people lying dead
Many concerns are possibly seen or read
They had all come with high hopes
Their life was merely hinged on ropes
Can I speak for a while?
I can’t do it for while
My body wishes but unable to do
Only life is left there to feel true
Oh God, give them some lesson
To pick innocent lives can be no reason
They are dear and near to someone
Few losses here and there may help no one
Thousands more may die in such fashion
Bereaved families may loudly cry and get mention
But how long we may bear such losses?
What are we doing to protect when silent are the bosses?

Eating Dirt
To say I'm sorry never feels enough.
Accepting a gift from those I hurt.
How can I, why would I.
Do I walk away in shame.
Of face it and who I am.
I feel like a man whose leg has went lame.
No longer do I walk in a strut.
But a limp because of what I know.
People who give with past dues never being paid.
Never speaking of the pain from what has been past said.
Fearful of those who will not accept criticism.
I'm falling down the same path of antisocial behaviour.
Stay away from me because all I will do is hurt you.
A feeling I'll never forget and always regret.
But the damages done I won't make plea at a loss of dignity.
I will not eat dirt for what you feel.

Tribalism is now not just one force in American politics, it’s the overwhelming one, and tribalism abhors reality if it impugns the tribe. But you can’t have both tribalism and public health. When you turn wearing a simple face mask into a political and cultural symbol of leftism, when you view social distancing as a concession to your enemies, you deeply undermine the power of millions of small impediments to viral outbreak. What we are seeing is whether this tribalism can be sustained even when it costs tens of thousands of lives, even when it means exposing yourself to a deadly virus, even when it is literally more important than your own life.

Girls & Boys
Lying in bed, touching my skin
Oh God I wish you weren't sleeping
I long for your lips, to kiss me again
Don't you know my body's aching?
(Breathe)
Seems we always have a little price to pay,
Price to pay, I'm Falling in love
It all starts, starts to fade
Bad girls, and bad little boys
Won't last forever
But Good girls, and good little boys
Will make love together
I look at your face, As I lie awake
My body's slowly moving closer
My hand on your leg
My mouth on its way
Oh baby, I'll just turn you over
Seems we always have a little price to pay,
Price to pay, (uh) I'm Falling in love
It all starts, starts to ache
Bad girls, and bad little boys
Won't last forever
But Good girls, and good little boys (boys)
Will make love together...
Love together, love together,
Love together, love together,
Love together...
Do you like this? I like this
I want you alright
Do you wanna touch me?
I like this
Can you handle this?
I like this
We're gonna slow it down,
Just a little bit
I'm lying in bed, touching my skin
I just can't take it baby
Open your eyes, whisper to me..
Do it again, do it again
Bad girls, and bad little boys
Won't last forever
But Good girls, and good little boys (boys)
Will make love together
Bad girls, and bad little boys
Won't last forever
But Good girls, and good little boys (boys)
Will make love together
Love together, love together,
Love together...
That's good, do you like this?
Yeah, gonna slow it down
We'll make love together

The Retired Commander In Chief
For one who profess a strong belief in God
To say the least I found it rather odd
That he sent his Country's troops to fight in his uncalled for war
From their home shore to a Nation afar.
A war where hundreds of thousands of people have died
Their right to life by him has been denied
Yet for his crimes against Humanity he will never pay
An honourable life in retirement is his lot today.
For most of his war dead terrorists he does blame
Terrorists his war created for to commit acts of shame
He should have known that's what happens when other Countries you invade
For conflict the price in human blood is paid.
A hero to many but a major criminal to me
He gave rise to crimes against Humanity
As well as causing thousands of deaths he destroyed the archictecture of another Land
Many in positions of power history does not understand.
The mothers of his war dead grieving today
Leave him to Karma is all one can say
His life achievements hundreds of thousands of war dead
Perhaps the power at his disposal did go to his head.

The Southern Scourge
The yellow fever was raging,
Down in the sunny south;
And in many of the cities,
There was a death at every house.
This plague a war was raging,
With the lives of people there;
The young and old were stricken down,
And lay in sad despair.
No comfort, all was misery
In many a southern home.
Where once was peace and quietness,
Now in distress are thrown;
For death the house has visited,
And caused the inmates to mourn
The loss of some dear loving friend,
That on earth no more shall roam.
Some people in delirium,
Have wandered from their home;
Have wandered to a vacant house,
And there have died alone,
With no kind friend to care for them,
Or close their dying eyes.
Oh God! in horrid misery
Hundreds of people died.
There were many whole families
Taken down sick in a day;
With no one to care for them,
In death they passed away.
Their spirits arose to God above,
Where sickness is no more;
Where peace and comfort ever reign,
On Heaven's blissful shore.
There is many a southern city
To-day is filled with woe,
And many of the inhabitants
Have wandered to and fro
To nurse the sick and dying --
The dead for the grave prepare.
They tried to do their duty,
With hearts filled with despair.
The Howard Association
Have been doing all they can,
To keep the "plague" from raging
Throughout the southern land;
They nursed the sick, they fed the poor,
They work both night and day,
This brave band in the southern scourge
Heroic courage display.
This noble band of charity
Have went from house to house,
To ease the sad misery of
The sufferers at the south;
Sad scenes of death and suffering
Each day they must endure,
As in the daily rounds they went
Among the afflicted poor.
The noble northern people
Have helped them all they can,
In money, food and clothing
Which they had at their command;
There is many a southern person
That will bless this Howard band,
For their noble deeds of charity
To the sufferers of their land.

I'm sick
I’m sick of always waiting for the breaks I never get,
I’m sick of being left behind and sleeping in my sweat,
I’m sick of making money when the ends are never met,
I’m sick of being sick of life I’m trapped inside a net,
I’m sick of having to be strong when I’m a nervous wreck,
I’m sick of working dead-end jobs that lack any respect,
I’m sick of waiting in a line where I am never next,
I’m sick of knowing that I’ll never truly be the best,
I’m sick of acting normal when I know that I’m a mess,
I’m sick of other people saying that I’m really blessed,
I’m sick of having all this pain I feel inside my chest,
I’m sick of being stressed, I’m feeling so depressed,
I’m reaching for a goal that very few are to obtain,
And no more strength is left in me because of all the pain,
I know that I have said that there is God inside the rain,
But where is God in moments when my bodies feeling drained,
And where is God in moments when a prayer won’t explain,
The fact that I was born a baby lacking half a brain,
The fact my hands and feet are tied together by these chains,
I can’t break free I need some help but all I get is blame,
I’m blamed for the mistakes I’ve made and it is such a shame,
I know that I’m a winner yet I’m losing to life’s game,
I’m losing my religion and all I do is entertain,
The other mindless people I swear this life is so mundane,
I’m always asking why,
I always say I try,
I’m looking to the sky,
Accept the pain and fly.

A Subconscious Vision
I dreamt I was an orphan boy
who lived in a far off land.
I had no shoes or socks to wear
and my pillow was a bag of sand.
My breakfast was a dug up root
my lunch was just the same.
Water was over two miles away,
and I lived with stomach pain.
Sometimes through constipation,
sometimes from nothing to eat,
sometimes from dirty water,
and sometimes from the heat.
I endured flies and mosquitoes,
and suffered from their disease.
Often I became sick with fever,
which brought me to my knees.
When stomach cramps visited my body,
and the pain wouldn't let me be,
I thought about the other children
far less fortunate than me.

Words Cause Pain
Rain drops are falling on my head
rain rain rain
it's just hiding the tears on my face
rain rain rain
why can't it hide the pain?
rain rain rain
for God sake go away and come back another day
every dropp that falls on my body hurts
what hurts more are does words that people say
sometime i just wish they just take it all away
words hurts! its causes pain! !
but people don't care
they don't care about the pain that you're feeling
having you feeling down on yourself, makes you said and cry
what they don't know is those words could make someone wants to die
next thing you know, have some one commiting suicide
this all could happen over words that people say
makes you build up this pain that you cant control
that pain that will never make you whole
it will tear you apart
rip your heart apart
those are words that'll bring tears
words that cause fears
rain rain rain
please stop!
let the sun come out
so that the world could see my pain.

The Priests Plunge into Hell
When the mentally deranged
run here and there, or from floor to floor,
look at people around with doubt,
envy over brothers and sisters,
resign jobs in series being unsatisfied,
take ruinous steps to kill themselves,
find fault with the education
their parents were afforded to give them,
pester their parents for money
to give as bribe for a well-paid job,
drive the two wheelers in a furious speed,
the fake priests of religions
rush to cure them
with oil called the blood of some God
to be smeared over the head and body,
or with some black paste.
The mentally sick are chained
and splashed with holy water,
saying it drove the evil spirit out of them.
Those who fall under the spell of devils
display symptoms different
with accompanying fever and shouts.
The poor and ignorant people
fail to take their mind afflicted kin
to a psychiatric clinic
and let the insanity growing.
These priests and touts of asylums
roam in the premises of hospitals,
to lure the people out before the doctors,
advise them against costly treatment.
The gullible people abandon their kin
at asylums believing miracle cures.
The disordered are fettered,
and shut into darker corridors
and tortured by those with cruel mind.
The public hospitals lack medicines
to treat these people ill at brains.
The rulers are to be counseled
for equipping the primary health centers
with blocks for mental care centers.
Patients who need tablets at the start
are left uncared to be treated costly later.
When we fail to take the retarded
to a psychiatrist early,
God will laugh at our folly.
People pipe funds to the terrorists
but do not donate to the care of the batty.

Who Am I?
who am i?
i'm not the girl who is fine,
when i'm in pain,
it's a whole another,
who am i?
i'm not who you think i am,
if i was,
would i think suicide is the way to go?
who am i?
i'm a girl who make wrong desidions,
but, does that make me human?
who am i?
i'm a girl who looking for a way out,
of this hell people call life,
haven't found my reason to stay,
am i giving up way to easy?
cuz i'm sick of being in pain,
and people seem to tell me,
i might have to deal with this the rest of my life,
if that the case, can i just end it?
end the misery i'm in day after day,
tried it once,
people don't see my cry for help,
if you don't have insurance,
it like you don't matter,
they don't want to help you,
they see it as you wanting attention,
maybe that is the case,
i just want to be pain free,
is that so much to freakin ask for?

Hit With Shame
hit with shame like losing my game
swollen lips are singing my name
tears are hot and drumming like rain
i’ve had it enough
had it enough
hit with shame like writhing with pain
every word’s proclaiming my blame
every effort turns out lame
i’m sick of that stuff
sick of that stuff
ask for nothing else you say
it’s your fault
you have to pay
for every day
for every day
for every bloody single day
hit with shame and hit with disdain
every move’s increasing the strain
every flower adds to the chain
i cannot go on
cannot go on
hit with shame like hit on my brain
feel as if I’m watching a play
think I’m gonna give it away
i’m sick of it all
sick of it all
this is what you get you say
it’s your guilt
and don’t complain
you must pay
you must pay
for every bloody single day

The Virus Of Life
I can see you but you can't see me
I could touch you and you wouldn't even feel me
Wait a second and you'll settle down
I'm just waiting 'til you really let your guard down
You're relaxed, you're sublime, you're amazing
You don't even know the danger you're facing
If I'm quiet, I'll slide up behind you
And if you hear me, I'll enjoy trying to find you
I've been with you all day
I'm trying to stay calm
I'm impatient and it's really hard to breathe
I'm going to empty you and fill you in with me
Just keep the violence down
Not yet-Don't make a sound
Oh, God I'm feeling it
It's reaching fever pitch
My skin is caving in
My heart is driving out
No mercy, no remorse
Let nature take its course
Watching-Bring me to my knees
Waiting-I am your disease
Lover-Set my symptom free
Covered-You won't feel a thing
(wait, no, wait, wait, no, wait, wait, not yet, no wait, wait)
I'm sweating through my veins
I'm trying to hold on
It's unbearable, It's almost worse for me
I'm gonna to tear you apart and make you see-Make you see
Watching-Bring me to my knees
Waiting-I am your disease
Lover-Set my symptom free
Covered-You won't feel a thing
This is the virus, the virus of life
This is inside us, The crisis, The knife
It's almost time to play/It's time to be afraid
I can't control the pain/I can't control in vain
Oh God, I'm ready now/You're almost ready now
I'm gonna love you now/I'm gonna put you down
I see you in the dark/I see you all the way
I see you in the light/I see you plain as day
I wanna touch your face/I wanna touch your soul
I wanna wear your face/I wanna burn your soul
Watching-Bring me to my knees
Waiting-I am your disease
Lover-Set my symptom free
Covered-You won't feel a thing
You can't stop me

Scarlet Fever
I stood outside the Lucky Star
Staring at the flashing sign
It read: come on in and watch young
Scarlet's body come alive
Let her dance for you and catch your spell
You'll swear you can believe her
Be careful not to catch the scarlet fever.
So I paid my fare and walked down front
And found an empty chair
As I settled in young scarlet took the ribbons from her hair
The moves her body made while the music played
Were the likes I've never seen
And she became the envy of my dreams.
One by one her teasing movements
Brought the crowd out of their seats
And all at once young scarlet
Danced straight up in front of me
From the moment that her eyes found mine
I've never been the same
Scarlet locked another heart upon her chain.
Now I get scarlet fever every time I see her
But she's a night club teaser
Not paid to notice me
Yes, I get scarlet fever
If she knew how much I need her
She'd place her hand in my hand
And dance away with me.
She looked 25 but I was told
That she was just 16
She had a way of making a man believe
She danced for only him
As she tantalized I fantasized
And felt the sound of my heart beat
And every night I'd dream
She'd fall in love with me.
Then one night while driving in
My eyes begun to tear
'Cause the sign outside the Lucky Star
Said: scarlet isn't here
She'd left that day to find a life
Of bigger and better things
And she left behind my chain of broken dreams.
But still get scarlet fever
In my mind I still see her
Out there dancing somewhere
To another fool like me.
Yes, I get scarlet fever every time I see her
But she's a night club teaser
Not paid to notice me
Yes, I get scarlet fever
If she knew how much I need her
She'd place her hand in my hand
And dance away with me...

Freedom
Though I cannot see the sun, I know that it’s still there.
The circumstances of this life, sometimes they are not fair.
People love and people hurt, and I have done the same.
The sadness of this paradox, there is always another to blame.
Another has shortcomings, no different than my own.
I can pinpoint exactly where another’s are, while mine remain unknown.
I hold a mirror to myself, the only thing I see.
The strengths that I bring to this world, my weaknesses cannot be.
My cycle continues, faster it spins, no longer in control.
My mind, my body, take my lead, they bury deep my soul.
I feel it in there, and it wants out, but it causes so much pain.
I ignore the part that will set me free, for I’m a slave to heart and brain.
My life gets worse, I can’t go on, and I live in my own hell.
And there I know I will remain, ‘til my soul can break its shell.
The shell with layers so deep and thick my body and mind have built.
In order to break this shell of mine, I must embrace my guilt.
The guilt of all my failures and the people I let down.
The character defects I embraced, when no one was around.
My reputation was my concern, my character I’d forsake.
But I’d have to switch this right around if my shell I was going to break.
So then began my journey, my journey deep within.
My guide became my savior; he freed me from my sin.
He told me I wasn’t who I became, but who our father made me to be.
This path of pain He led me down, it truly set me free.
I found this path not easy, but knew this path was right.
For the blind fool that I had become, became a wise man with great sight.
I know the one I’m grateful to, His love for me is great.
He turned me to the path of love, from the path of pain and hate.
I thank you Jesus, for your gift, for my spirit I did find.
You waited for me ‘til I was ready. You did not leave me behind.
For I was broken. I broke others too, but by my side you stayed.
For every debt that I incurred, you had already paid.
You made me understand it all. I now have sight to see.
I’m no longer a slave to body and mind. My soul is truly free!
