To Buddha

Awake again in Asia, Lord of Peace,
Awake and preach, for her far swordsmen rise.
And would they sheathe the sword before you, friend,
Or scorn your way, while looking in your eyes?

Good comrade and philosopher and prince,
Thoughtful and thoroughbred and strong and kind,
Dare they to move against your pride benign,
Lord of the Law, high chieftain of the mind?

But what can Europe say, when in your name
The throats are cut, the lotus-ponds turn red?
And what can Europe say, when with a laugh
Old Asia heaps her hecatombs of dead?

At The Cenotaph

I saw the Prince of Darkness, with his Staff,
Standing bare-headed by the Cenotaph:
Unostentatious and respectful, there
He stood, and offered up the following prayer.
'Make them forget, O Lord, what this Memorial
Means; their discredited ideas revive;
Breed new belief that War is purgatorial
Proof of the pride and power of being alive;
Men's biologic urge to readjust
The Map of Europe, Lord of Hosts, increase;
Lift up their hearts in large destructive lust;
And crown their heads with blind vindictive Peace.'
The Prince of Darkness to the Cenotaph
Bowed. As he walked away I heard him laugh.

There aren't many people who say that Europe is a territory, or Asia is a territory - it'd be suicide. And there are even more people in America than in Europe. I think it's strange, really. I basically see it as loads of different places.

I Travel

Cities, buildings falling down
Ideal homes falling down
These pictures I see on the wall
Timeless leaders stand so tall
Assassin in a hit and run
Asia steals a new born son
Evacuees and refugees
Presidents and monarchies
Travel round
I travel round
Decadence and pleasure towns
Tragedies,luxuries,statues,parks and galleries
Europe has a language problem
Talk, talk, talk, talk, talking on
In central europe
Men are marching
Marching on and marching on
Love songs playing in the restaurants
Airport playing bi some lo
Travel round
I travel round
Decadence and pleasure towns
Tragedies,luxuries,statues,parks and galleries
Europe has a language problem

America has a language problem
I travel

Making love to the criminals

I travel
And on and on and on and on and on and on and on

Psalm 7

God's care of his people.

My trust is in my heav'nly Friend,
My hope in thee, my God;
Rise, and my helpless life defend
From those that seek my blood.

With insolence and fury they
My soul in pieces tear,
As hungry lions rend the prey,
When no deliverer's near.

If I had e'er provoked them first,
Or once abused my foe,
Then let him tread my life to dust,
And lay mine honor low.

If there be malice found in me,
I know thy piercing eyes;
I should not dare appeal to thee,
Nor ask my God to rise.

Arise, my God, lift up thy hand,
Their pride and power control;
Awake to judgment, and command
Deliverance for my soul.

PAUSE.

[Let sinners, and their wicked rage,
Be humbled to the dust;
Shall not the God of truth engage
To vindicate the just?

He knows the heart, he tries the reins,
He will defend th' upright
His sharpest arrows he ordains
Against the sons of spite.

For me their malice digged a pit,
But there themselves are cast;
My God makes all their mischief light
On their own heads at last.]

That cruel, persecuting race
Must feel his dreadful sword:
Awake, my soul, and praise the grace
And justice of the Lord.

Daddy, Daddy, Daddy

Oh, its daddy, daddy, daddy, its daddy, daddy, all the time.
Lord, thats daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, all the time.
If Im awake or if Im dreamin lord, my daddy daddys on my mind.
Well, I brag bout my daddy to all the women that I see
Yeah, I brag bout my daddy to all the women that I see
Never say those damn women lord, theyre tryin to steal my daddy away from me.
Thats my daddy, daddy, daddy, lord, its daddy, daddy, all the time.
Thats my daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, all the time
If Im awake or just dreamin lord, daddy daddys on my mind.
Well, if your daddy likes walkin, honey, walks five miles a day.
Yeah, if your daddy likes walkin, walks five miles a day
No matter what he wants, child, he walks off far way.
Oh, its daddy, daddy, daddy, lord, its daddy, daddy, all the time.
Its my daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, all the time.
If Im awake or if Im dreamin lord, daddy daddys on my mind.
Well, I got a lovin daddy, treats me like a daddy should.
Yeah, I got a lovin daddy, treats me like a daddy should.
You know he kisses me at bed time, gives me candy when Im good.
Oh, its daddy, daddy, daddy, lord, its daddy, daddy, all the time.
Lord, its daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, all the time.
If Im awake or if Im dreamin lord, my daddy daddys on my mind.

You Gotta Move

You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
Oh... when my God gets ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You may be high
You may be low
You may be rich... yeah
You may be poor
But when the Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
Huh Huh... ooww...
Yes...
You may be old
You may be young
You may be weak
Maybe high-strung
But when the good Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You see dat woman
Who walks the street
You see dat cowboy
Who walks his beat
But when the Lord gets ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You got to... ooww
Yeah I was hangin\' with the Devil when we made a pact
I\'m drinkin\' welfare whiskey smokin\' food stamp crack
It was one part sour... two parts sweet
Three parts strong... and four parts weak
I would rather sit on a pumpkin
And have it all to myself
Then to be crowded on a velvet cushion
You may be bad
You can not see
You may be deaf
It\'s all meant to be
Now when the Lord get ready
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You gotta move
You got to know
When the good get ready
You gotta move
Huh huh... you gotta
You gotta move...
You gotta move
You gotta move...

Seven Continents

There are seven continents
Right here on the planet Earth
Each gorgeous in it's own way
Africa
Antarctica
Asia
Australia
Europe
North America
South America
Each precious land has its own culture, customs and traditions
Each continent has different weather conditions
Most beautiful of all, it has people
People, just like you and me
Some are good, some not so good
Let's pray for faith, peace, justice,
good health, food, shelter, unity,
A decent job and prosperous opportunity

Europe's Problem

The Problem of Europe

There is an echo that rumbles in my liberal mind regarding
the Moslem population in Europe. Yes, we must accept them
they are citizens, but they do live in Europe now which has
different culture than the Moslem world. But it appears to me
they want to change a Europe to become like them.
The first generations of Moslems who came here were happy
to escape poverty and repressing regimes, however it is
the new generation who feel they are not being accepted…
but they are. Europe needs the energy and thrift the Moslem
youth brings as long as they don’t try to fit Europe into
an unreal sharia state that never existed other than in the mind
zealots. So my liberal mind is confused, I will bend for their
religious needs, but I will not live their repressed life, to be
straitjacket into religious rules I find objectionable.

Christ's Nativity

1 Awake, glad heart! get up and sing!
2 It is the birth-day of thy King.
3 Awake! awake!
4 The Sun doth shake
5 Light from his locks, and all the way
6 Breathing perfumes, doth spice the day.

7 Awake, awake! hark how th' wood rings;
8 Winds whisper, and the busy springs
9 A concert make;
10 Awake! awake!
11 Man is their high-priest, and should rise
12 To offer up the sacrifice.

13 I would I were some bird, or star,
14 Flutt'ring in woods, or lifted far
15 Above this inn
16 And road of sin!
17 Then either star or bird should be
18 Shining or singing still to thee.

19 I would I had in my best part
20 Fit rooms for thee! or that my heart
21 Were so clean as
22 Thy manger was!
23 But I am all filth, and obscene;
24 Yet, if thou wilt, thou canst make clean.

25 Sweet Jesu! will then. Let no more
26 This leper haunt and soil thy door!
27 Cure him, ease him,
28 O release him!
29 And let once more, by mystic birth,
30 The Lord of life be born in earth.

America, America

We raised our hats to you, Mr Lincoln.
We believed every word that you said.
And when life spilled into darkness
in a night of theatre,
we believed, even though you were dead.

From the decay that was Europe, we sent you our sons
to escape from a thousand-year prison called home;
from money and serfdom and warfare and guns;
from Ireland and Germany, Russia and Rome.

We believed, Mr Lincoln. We knew. We could wait.

From the slave-fields of Africa, we heard all men are equal
and America, like God, would apply it that way.
And having applied it, would insist on the sequel;
that all men were free in this African day.

From Asia, the bent backs of our human machines
learned of machines that would give them their rest;
learned they could stand straight and what freedom means;
and, holding heads high, put it all to the test.

And what did we get from all the bright promise?
And what did we learn when we gave you our vote?
From a heap of dead redskins to a pile of dead commies,
you could write the Lord’s Prayer on a used five-buck note.

100 I Dream

They brang us up with horns and hollywooden songs
Dead snakes and poisoned wisdoms between our teeth
The evil thats been done still is carrying on
And on this night therell be no peace
The old leaders bones still beat on our homes
They built our life before us, we had no choice
The evil thats been done still is carrying on
And when theyre gone well be the voice
Blue bird on a rock, slow wind blowing soft
Across the bare face of the sleeping lake
Rise up and be free, voice whispered to me
And in this way you will awake
Go climb up on a hill, stand perfectly still
And silently soak up the day
Dont rush and dont you roam, dont feel so alone
And in this way you will awake
And in this way you will awake
And this way you will awake
Pick up the pieces you see before you
Dont let your weaknesses destroy you
You know wherever you go the world will follow
So let your reasons be true to you
Stay close to your friends up until the end
And when they know that you feel the same way
Rise up and be free and die happily
And in this way you will awake
And in this way you will awake
And this way you will awake

Lie Awake

Let’s lie awake together
I’m not sleepy yet
Let’s play a few games
And give each other pet names.

Let’s lie awake together
It’s just us in this empty park
Hand me that sandwich
I’m getting hungry.

Let’s lie awake together
The grass is getting a little itchy
Hand me your jacket
I’ll keep you warm instead.

Let’s lie awake together
No, I saw that plane first
Oh wait it’s not a plane
Was that a shooting star?

Let’s lie awake together
Think of as many rhymes
Poetry is beautiful
But so are you.

Let’s lie awake together
What’s that light I see?
Oh no it’s the police
We need to run!

I know what I want to do
Let’s lie awake together
I’m sure tomorrow will be great
Seeing the sun rise next to you.

Awake O! Prince Of Braj

Awake, Krishna,
awake the lotus-petals
open the water-lilies droop
the bumblebees have left
the creepers cocks crow,
and birds chirp on the trees.
The cows are in the byre lowing;
they run after their calves;
the moon fades before the sun.
Men and women arise
and joyfully sing their songs;
Krishna, of hands lotus-like awake,
for the day is about to dawn.
