First Light
First light is not seen
By many these days
Either they're still asleep
Covers over thier head or
On the train or
In cars with all their lights on
Or already
In imporant meetings
Then there are buildings
In the way with other lights on
So it is hard to tell
When dawn first breaks
For those out walking or
Sitting on a bench overlooking the lake
It is a sight that restores
The wonder you had as a child
Makes you believe that you can help
Make it right in this world
For some it's only at this time
With dawn just coming up
Before it gets too bright
And the rest of the town
Is awake going
Their separate ways
In daylight there are winners and losers
People keep score
The light gets brighter
People more intense
And then it is dark again

Dark Becomes Dawn
Dark as pitch - Dawn spreads light
Dark as dead - Dawn expires graves
Dark withers - Dawn freshness wears
Dark un-paths - Dawn re-strides.
Dark dapples gray - Dawn paints days
Dark specters doubt - Dawn assuredness' gate
Dark limitless plain - Dawn corrals night
Dark swifts shadows - Dawn hastens un-obscures.
Dark dissolves pace - Dawn zeniths one's range
Dark devours - Dawn sun rises
Dark bends down relief - Dawn uplifts sight
Dark dismantles - Dawn scatters golden arrows.
Dark de-flames - Dawn matches day
Dark invisibles - Dawn globes light
Dark unfolds dark dreams - Dawn un-sanctions screams
Dark submissively retires - Dawn crimson splendor.

The Winners Are Always The Heroes
The winners are always the heroes in life it is always this way
The losers are quickly forgotten though a fine and sporting
game they did play
'Tis only a sport it may well seem where people chase after a ball
But many take football quite seriously though 'tis only a game after all,
The winners are always the heroes and that's how it always will be
The fans of the winners are singing rejoicing in their victory
Life and sports are akin in many ways though some may say 'tis only a game
The winners get all of the applause and the winners can bask in their fame,
The winners are always the heroes and the winners get all of the praise
And always only to the winners the toasters their toasting glasses raise
The losers are quickly forgotten though some must lose for some to win
Yet some look on losing as shameful to them there is no greater sin,
In life as in sport the poor losers are the people the masses ignore
And in football the really big hero is the one who kicks the winning score.

Darkness Falls
A blackbird utters its warning call,
As, slowly, darkness begins to fall.
The temperature grows steadily colder,
As the day grows steadily older.
In the houses, lights are being put on,
Now that daylight has almost gone.
Shift workers head out into the night,
While most of us are snuggled up tight.
People head to town for an evening out:
Laughter is heard, as is the odd distant shout.
Cats come out to search and stalk their prey:
Woe betide the creature who steps in their way.
Ducks settle down: Head under their wing.
Small birds have roosted and no longer sing.
Moths flit to and fro around a light.
Bats whizz by silently in their flight.
Small children are being put to bed,
Laying down their sleepy heads.
People settle down to watch the TV,
Hoping that there's something good to see.
The moon shines way up high.
The stars twinkle away in the velvet sky.
Owls come out for their nightly feed,
Hoping to satisfy their hunger needs.
Livestock is rounded up and locked away,
In an attempt to keep the sly foxes at bay.
Spiders come out and crawl about,
Freaking the arachnophobics out.
For hours on end, our world is dark,
Till, by the dawn chorus, first light is marked.
Dawn slowly gives way to daybreak,
And those, who have been sleeping, awake.
While those who have been put to task,
Can head home to their beds at last.
The routine of a brand new day calls,
Until, once again, darkness falls.

Night was coming
Night was coming
with a piercing huge orange sun
breaking through
white and black clouds
in the west.
It found a gap
and the sun was hanging
like a orange ball
above the street
and it was blinding.
Cars passed barely visible
above the orange glare
and some had already
turned their lights on.
The sun dipped down
below some trees
and for a time
it glowed behind them
and soon it would be dark
and the first stars
were already appearing
and a full yellow moon
was rising,
but below bright lights
was already burning
right across the city
in colours of amber
streetlights
green, yellow and red
traffic lights,
blue lights flashing
on police cars
and almost every bright colour
caught on neon signs
while people came and went
to different destinations
some smiling and relaxed,
others in a hurry
and some others
locked in a world of their own.

That One Far Shining Light Of Lights
That One far shining light of lights
Which lights the eyes of everyone.
That One far shining light of lights
Which lights the mind of man
That One far shining light of lights
Which warms all that can be found
That One far shining light of lights
Which is the love of all for all
That One far shining light of lights
Which shines so very bright
That One far shining light of lights
Which shines equally in every place
That One far shining light of lights
Which has no time to rise or fall
May that light shine through all of us
May it shine through you and me
That One far shining light of lights
Which shines, and shines for all.

Green Light
Searching for a green light
Looking for it all night
Using all my keen sight
Searching for a green light
From just this side of midnight
til dawn breaks into daylight
Keepin myself out of sight
Searching for a green light
Well Ive heard this story before
But that doesnt stop me searching
Its been so long since you gave me a sign
A sign to stop my head turning
But all I have are just your old memories
But you know baby, baby thats fine
Cos Im spending all of my time
Searching for a green light
Looking for it all night
Using all my keen sight
Searching for a green light
From just this side of midnight
til dawn breaks into daylight
Keepin myself out of sight
Searching for green light
Lookin around
But all I have are your old memories
But you know baby baby thats fine
Cos Im spending all of my time
Searching for a green light
Looking for it all night
Using all my keen sight
Searching for a green light
Searching for a green light
From just this of midnight etc....

When The Lights Go Out
Well you say you have a friend
You trust him with your life
You trust him with your car, you trust him with your kids
You even trust him with your wife
You better watch whats going down when the lights go out
When the night is dark, when there aint nobody looking around
When the lights go out
Down in this dirty little town
Well now the world is dark and funny
You better listen to what I say
You aint gonna know whats going on
By what you see in the light of day
You better watch whats going on when the lights go out
When the night is dark, when there aint nobody looking around
When the lights go out
Down in this dirty little town
Well now baby she trusted billy
With reason you understand
But billy he kept coming home late at night
And in the morning he had that smell on his hand
Well now the world is turning
Rome is burning
Me Im watching
And Im learning
They say it sure is gods hand in the ticking of the clock
The lords light shining under every dirty rock
Well now last night I slept right here
And I heard gods voice whisper in my ear
You better watch whats going on when the lights go out
When the night is dark, when there aint nobody looking around
When the lights go out
Down in this dirty little town
Down in this dirty little town
Down in this dirty little town

Confession
My love for you burns brighter and warmer then the sun
And I think of you all night long, from dusk to dawn
You softly light the way for me like the moon
When I feel it’s all gone
Your light makes me alive as if it were noon
You are brighter then all the rest, brighter then every star, brighter then anything put to the test
Let me stand by your side and I won’t leave ever
Allow me to come close, don’t hide and we can make our own world here,
here in the crook of my arm
Please be mine, and mine alone
So next time you go out you won’t be alone
In our world you’ll never be alone
I Love you more then You’ve ever Known

There is a light
There is a light
That lights the night
When it’s too dark to see
It’s by my bed
For me and my Ted
My teddy bear and me
We like the light
That lights the night
On that we both agree
It feels soft and safe
Warm and nice
A lovely thing to see
When we awake
The light no longer do we need
Because it’s too light for the light
That lights the night
But the light,
is still needed indeed.

Single In A State Of Mind
You've got your nights,
Doubled up with meetings.
And you say your days,
Are booked from dawn 'til noon.
But what about me and my time?
You've got me in a single state of mind.
And that's not right...
For the need I have for you.
You turn off lights,
When your neighbor comes to visit.
My jaws are tight!
But there's nothing I can do.
You've got your nights,
Doubled up with meetings.
And you say your days,
Are booked from dawn 'til noon.
You think I will hesitate in waiting?
To offer someone else a dried up prune!
You turn off lights,
When your neighbor comes to visit.
My jaws are tight!
But there's nothing I can do.
Except...
Bam on your door,
Until the lights turn on.
As I watch that creeper sneak,
Back across the street.
Bam on your door,
Until the lights turn on.
As I watch that creeper sneak,
Back across the street.
'Uh...hi.
You busy?
If it's not too late,
Would you like some company? '

Every Light In The House
(kent robbins)
I told you Id leave a light on
In case you ever wanted to come back home
You smiled and said you appreciate the gesture
I took your every word to heart
cause I cant stand us being apart
And just to show how much I really miss ya
Every light in the house is on
The backyards bright as the crack of dawn
Thr front walk looks like runway lights
Its kinda like noon in the dead of night
Every light in the house is on
Just in case you ever do get tired of being gone
Every light in the house is on
If I should ever start forgetting
Ill turn the lights off one by one
So you can see that I agree its over
But until then I want you to know
If you look south, youll see a glow
Thats me waiting at home each night to hold ya
Every light in the house is on
The backyards bright as the crack of dawn
Thr front walk looks like runway lights
Its kinda like noon in the dead of night
Every light in the house is on
Just in case you ever do get tired of being gone
Every light in the house is on

God’s Lights
Morning’s painting on the sky above, covers this earth like a glove,
Clouds covered by the sun’s rays, filling earth with abundant praise.
With yet another day to unfold, of God’s wonderful Glory to behold,
The beauty fills hearts and minds, with awe for God’s grand design.
Before the sun is overhead, God paints the clouds a gorgeous red,
This as He moves earth out of night, into the brightness of daylight.
At times the sunlight He shrouds, hiding the sun behind the clouds,
Clouds God paints upon the sky, as wide and vast as they are high.
Although the sun is hid from sight, God keeps it there till fall of night,
Then it’s truly veiled from all eyes, by the ever darker evening skies.
When God shows us another side, as He allows the daylight to hide,
As night’s ushered in by Heaven, God’s lesser light starts to descend.
Now under an ever darker canopy, with lights far as the eye can see,
And the moon above phase by phase, to count both nights and days,
God starts with a new moon friend, with the full moon at month’s end.
This is how God lights the skies, above a world that is filled with eyes.
Lights placed above for all to see, by the hand of The God of Eternity.
The Greatest Light we cannot see; The One who died for you and me.
The Light of Christ soon will shine, from the Eternal City for all of time,
No more need of the moon or sun, for the only Light will be God’s Son.
Down the seafront tonight - Pinewood Royal
Tall ships in the harbour
Waiting for a sailing far away
Stones across the water
Herring gulls drifting across the bay
Painted lady in the garden
The Blackcap sings from early dawn
The warm air slumbers
Soothing the Trevello Lawn
On the red cliffs of The Berry
The lighthouse shines till early dawn
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down to where the lights, the lights are shining bright
On the sea front you can see the rows of coloured lights
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
Just you and I
The bright lights sparkle
On the sea front walking by
The ice cream parlour
Fairground rides and coconut shy
Ocean going liners
Cabin lights blazing wave goodbye
White horses in the moonlight
Constellations across the sky
Red glow from leaded windows
A summer's evening in July
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down to where the lights, the lights are shining bright
On the sea front you can see the rows of coloured lights
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
We're going down
Down to the sea front tonight
Just you and I

There’s Always a Dawn
There were spears
There were swords
Made for hunting
Not war
Yet with it, from the blood of the innocent will create a new dawn
But war came
Great battles and fights
Many dead
Few still alive
To face the never ending dawn
A new world made
By the people who were left
Conquerors and Defeated
United in one land
A new dawn created with the help of man
The one land changed
More wars began
Famine and disease
Grew a part of that
But the dawn still remained
It was after these wars that history began
Written by the victors about
The defeated
The damned
The dawn was never mentioned- forgotten
These people
The defeated left the land
In search for a new home
Away from the wars
Searching forever for a new dawn
Perhaps they were wise
To leave with such haste
For the empire they once knew
Began to break
The dawn now remembered- the people prayed
The empire broke
The great kingdom now gone
In its place a new world just like the dawn
Still life in the world went on and on
Yet the dawn was still worshiped- never forgotten
The years past
More wars began
Countries discovered
New weapons for man
The promise man made- left to die
Centuries turned
Discoveries made
Technology found
Diseases dead
Still on and on the dawn survives
But for every technology there’s always a weapon
For every discovery there’s always a second
With one disease dead more still arrive
And with every new day a new world is created
Though the dawn still remained
So the world keeps turning
In the dark and light
For every bad thing
There’s always a light
In the dawn
In war it is Peace
In death it is Life
In disease it is the Cures
In the world it is Hope
Disguised as the dawn
Hope keeps us going
Through the bad it is strength
To do what is right, To help the world
In the light it shines, shines for the future, a brighter day
A new dawn
The earth might be in darkness
With a shadow on its edge
Waiting to consume
Till the universe is dead
The dawn still remains
But still the world keeps turning
Like the never ending dawn
Time is forever
And the universe survives
Because of the dawn
It might seem the end
Of the world that we know
But at the end of a day
There’s always mans hope
There’s always a dawn

Separate Ways
I wont apologize
The light shone from in your eyes
It isnt gone,
It will soon come back again.
Though we go our separate ways
Lookin for better days
Sharin our little boy,
Who grew from joy back then.
And its all because of that love we knew
That makes the world go round.
Separate ways, separate ways.
Separate ways, separate ways.
Me for me, you for you
Happiness is never through
Its only a change of plan
And that is nothing new.
As we go our separate ways.
Lookin for better days
Sharin our little boy,
Who grew from joy back then.
And its all because of that love we knew
That makes the world go round.
And its all because of the love we knew
It makes the world go round.
Separate ways, separate ways.
Separate ways, separate ways.

The City Lights
In front of me the city lies stretched out
with pulsating cyber lights
and I wonder how many people
will see the last of life’s light tonight?
I hear smack of a car crash,
in the distant a shot resounds
and somewhere the lights flicker
one after another
even before the dawn
of old comes.

Lighting a Memorial Candle for One of the Six Million
Even if I could light six million lights
I could not rekindle your light
And your’s was only one
Not one in a million
But one of six million
Snuffed out, blown out, crushed out
Lights
“Let there be light” and the world was full of light
And your light brought light to your world
Your home
Your family
Your street
Your town
Each year
Until the darkness came
And put out all the lights.
So now I stand
Match in hand
To light a light
Not your light for you
But your light for me
To brighten my world
My home
My family
My street
My town
Each year
Until the darkness is no more
And the world is full of light.

Winners & Losers
Pop/Jones
Winners and losers which one am I,
is it the same under the sky?
black motorcycles and the will to survive
losers and winners low and high
in this glass and wire world
surely leeches gain the right
to send their message screaming
one that has no meaning
to people who feel
questions and questions plain as your nose
but who would believe a little rose?
winners and losers in love with themselves
no santa claus no happy elves
in this smoking gun existence
it gets harder to unwind
i'll just eat my breakfast
try to keep my questions
starving all night
out in the suburbs i met
my true fine love
down in the suburbs i met
my true fine love
she gave me money
she gave me head
she gave my everything
and then she went dead
stick out your thumb
and hit the open road
cat in a mercedes
goes by, he's old
he's got some, you got none
together maybe you can have
some fun-winners and losers
gentlemen boozers
winners and losers
roll roll roll roll
roll your money down
rock rock rock rock
takln' over this town
