Reductio Ad Absurdum
SOMETIMES I feel like,
I f e e l
LIKE
I,
I I
I I
I
I I I
I I I
I
I M LUSINNG
MAI; mnd.
I'll be sitting in something like the half-lotus
Position, and I'll be staring at my computer screen,
Which is tilted downward just slightly, so I can
See… if I play a game—which I won't (I have a TV for that) ,
But whatever—and I'll just be half-way into some
Deep focus meditation, wondering about Mu
Or something else, or something yogic,
Or something… OM NAMA SHIYAVA…
I'm just mindless right now,
Reeling in that emptiness,
Wishing I could pull myself
Out of Satan's Cradle,
Not thirsty for the milk
That flows from the mother
Of my inaction,
My absolute lethargy.
It doesn't have to be this way—
I tell myself.
I tell myself as I sit there,
White screen greeting me,
Telling me what a good day it is
To not think at all
And maybe write a poem
When I get fed up from reading
My Facebook newsfeed—
Doesn't happen as often as you'd think,
Though I'm terminally disgruntled
About the perpetual bondage
I have toward the social networking
Behemoth;
Leviathan that gnarls through the seas
Of boredom, sinking the steady ship
Consciousness in its green, amaranthine
Jaws, which glow in the twilit,
Star-crossed window sill
That beams in the plasma
Box and back to where it came.
Help me out.
Help me.
I AM HERE!
And I can't stop doing nothing
To do something
Because something might happen
While I'm out doing something
And I know it won't happen
But it might happen
But I don't know how to make things happen
Can someone tell me how to make things happen
So I can stop doing nothing
And do something
And people will be like
You did something
So I'm glad I was watching
While I was doing nothing
Just waiting
Wishing
H O P I NG
Y
O
U
WOuld—
Do
Som ething.
I'm glad you did something.
I wanted to do it,
But I was too busy waiting for you to do it.
Oh, God, if there is a GOD,
Can't you release me from these chains—
I mean, according to Milton,
You released Satan,
And he said,
'Here, at last, we shall be free.'
Of course, he was in Hell,
But he was his master
And if this is heaven,
Then salvation sucks
And I don't want any part of it.
Release me,
Release me,
I don't want to be the anthroparion
Of the technological age,
Blood pouring out of my eyeballs,
My teeth clenched into a single pane
To reflect the visions that gloss
Across the panel I stare at—
I don't want to be the ouroborus,
The mobius snake that loops for a while
Before eating himself.
I wonder if I am the result
Of the Chinese Room Experiment—
AM I RESPONDING TO MY CONSCIOUSNESS
OR AM I SIMULATING MY RESPONSE
BY IMAGINING A THEORETICAL CONSCIOUSNESS
WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT EXIST—
whatever.
I just want to sit up,
And erase the homunculus
That hangs over my head
As if it were barbed wire
On life's fence,
Gateless, though it may be.
I could be doing something I tell myself
I tell myself
I tell myself
Do I lie to compensate for what I want?
What do I want?
I don't know, but can I have it.

Things Happen For Their Reasons
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Things happen for their reasons.
And,
What is there to say...
That can excuse mistakes away.
Stop that need to medicate.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why waste time in prolonged debates.
Thing happen for their reasons.
What is the purpose for seeking escapes.
Things happen for their reasons.
Acceptance eases,
The facing of one's fate.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Stop that need to feed on grief.
Things happen for their reasons.
Why squeeze a healing wound to bleed.
Things happen for their reasons
They happen for their reasons.
And aging doesn't make one safe.
Or offer escapades as a gateway to charade.
Things happen for their reasons.
They happen for their reasons.
Things happen for their reasons.
And there is no need to make excuses,
For the obviousness...
Of those mistakes made.
Even while one ages,
With a life reminisced played on many stages...
Try their best to gracefully accept,
Things happen for their reasons.
And those experienced,
Eventually see this.
Things happen for their reasons.
And in the living of one's life...
A discovery reveals,
Those reasons with insight.

It Can Happen
Now that it has been approved...
You have been declared the keeper,
With power to independently think.
You have shown you can.
And allowed to express an opinion...
Without feeling you should shrink.
Into a corner and sink!
Your own mind will you now command!
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
You 'assume' you and I,
Have something in common now?
Perhaps from your limited point of view...
That 'common-ness' you believe is true.
And shared between me and you.
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
Remember you had asked,
Why there is a breeze when you hear me speak?
And why I seemed to be near,
Whenever you dared to peek?
You are still blossoming...
And yet to fly,
Like I have flown!
Many times have I watched you from afar...
To explore adventures I have known.
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
You will develop your wings as well.
Your consciousness will expand...
To broaden thoughts and excell.
And 'your' breeze will release,
Into winds to expel debris!
You will learn to clear your path of obstacles.
Like I had to learn!
This you will see.
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
I had doubts and hid in years now past.
You have just to keep faith...
Those fears you embrace will pass.
You are not destined for them to last!
With each flight you attempt and challenge...
Stretch your wings and struggle to soar.
Witness your blessings being revealed...
And your insight will enlighten,
With a strength exciting and inviting,
You with such appeal!
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
Even if you should stumble to a fall...
You now have the power,
To stand and walk tall!
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it!
And then you will wish to fly above this!
It can happen! If you want it!
It can happen! And it will!
If you let it...
You will soar,
To heights that will thrill!
If you let it...
It will happen!
If you want it,
You will!

WHY DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME?
I was watching my TV one night when they broke in with a special report
About some devastating earthquake in Peru
There were thirty thousand crushed to death, even more were buried alive
On the Richter scale it measured 8.2
And I said, "God, please answer me one question...
Why'd they have to interrupt The Simpsons just for this?"
What a drag, 'cause I was taping it and everything
And now I'll have to wait for the rerun to see the part of the show I missed
Why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
Why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
I was driving down the highway when all the traffic slowed to a crawl
There was a 12-car pile-up, everybody dead
And I saw brains and guts and vital organs splattered everywhere
As well as my friend Robert's disembodied head
And I thought - Poor Rob, I just had lunch with him
Hey, wait a minute, he still owes me money . what a jerk
Well, there's five bucks that I'm never gonna see again
Plus now, on top of everything else, it looks like I'm gonna be late to work
Oh, why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
Why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
Oh, the other day my boss said we were running low on toner
And he told me I should buy another case
Well, I told him I was busy, but he still just kept on asking
So I turned around and stabbed him in the face
Oh, and wouldn't you know it?
My knife got stuck
I guess that's probably bound to happen now and then
But I'm afraid I may have bent the tip a little
And I know the blade will never ever be quite as sharp again
Oh tell me, why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
Why does this always happen...
Why does this always happen to me?
Why does this always happen to me?
Why does this always happen to me?

Night People
(alan toussaint)
Night people, hanging out
Looking at each other waiting for something to happen
Night people, hanging out
Looking at each other
Waiting for soemthing to happen
While the day world is sleeping
Night people are creeping, hanging out
Looking at each other
When the day world stops moving
Night people start grooving, hanging out
Looking at each other
When the day bees stop buzzing
Night people start coming, hanging out
Waiting for something to happen
Night people , hanging out
Looking at each other
Waiting for something to happen
You dont get one thing
Without the other
We got to keep the world alive
If everybody went to sleep
At the same time,
Howd we keep the world alive
In a word we got the night people,
Night people, hanging out
Looking at each other
Waiting for something to happen
Got to see who is with you
Who is with me, who is with who, were hanging out
Looking at each other
Got to see whatcha wearing, whatcha got
Whatcha sharing , hanging out
Waiting for something to happen
As the day world goes by
Night people doing fine, hanging out
Looking at each other
When the day world starts humping
Night people start pumping, hanging out
Waiting for something to happen
Night people hanging out
Looking at each other
Waiting for soemthing to happen
Night people, hanging out
Looking at each other
Waiting for something to happen
Night people grooving , hanging out
Night people grooving
Night people grooving

It Can Happen
You can fool yourself
You can cheat until youre blind
You can cut your heart
It can happen
You can mend the wires
You can feed the soul apart
You reach
It can happen to you
It can happen to me
It can happen to everyone eventually
Its a constant fight
A constant fight
Youre pushing the needle to the red
Black and white
Who knows whos right
No substitute youre born youre dead
Fly by night
Created out of fantasy
Our destinations call
Look up - look down
Look out - look around
Look up - look down
Theres a crazy world outside
Were not about to lose our pride
It can happen to you
It can happen to me
It can happen to everyone eventually
As you happen to say
It can happen today
As it happens
It happens in every way
This world I like
We architects of life
A song a sigh
Developing words that linger
Through fields of green through open eyes
This for us to see
Look up - look down
Look out - look around
So look up - look down
Theres a crazy world outside
Were not about to lose our pride
It can happen to you
It can happen to me
It can happen to everyone eventually
As you happen to say
It can happen today
As it happens
It happens in every way
As you happen to see
It will happen to be
Nothing happens to nowhere and nowhere
Solo
Look up - look down
Theres a crazy world outside
Were not about to lose our pride
It can happen to you
It can happen to me
It can happen to everyone eventually
As you happen to see
It will happen to be
Nothing happens to nowhere and nowhere

It's not going to happen again
It's not going to happen again
I have known the most dear that is granted us here,
More supreme than the gods know above,
Like a star I was hurled through the sweet of the world,
And the height and the light of it, Love.
I have risen to the uttermost Heaven of Joy,
I have sunk to the sheer Hell of Pain -
But - it's not going to happen again, my boy,
It's not going to happen again.
It's the very first word that poor Juliet heard
From her Romeo over the Styx;
And the Roman will tell Cleopatra in hell
When she starts her immortal old tricks;
What Paris was tellin' for good-bye to Helen
When he bundled her into the train -
Oh, it's not going to happen again, old girl,
It's not going to happen again.

In A Breath
Life is only one breath after another,
We are the ones who control our breaths, not oneanother.
A breath is all it takes,
To make a breath.
In a breath you could stop,
In a breath you could drop,
In a breath anything could happen,
In a breath anything could happen.
Life is the journey down a pathway,
Of which stones are breaths that show you the way.
A path to eternity, to forever.
Where you shall stay forever and ever.
In a breath you could die,
In a breath you could fly,
In a breath anything could happen,
In a breath anything could happen.
Tomorrow is yet a turn,
A turn you may not reach, but only a breath can determine,
You don't know when your final turn comes.
You do not know what you will become.
In a breath you could win,
In a breath you could sin.
In a breath anything could happen,
anything could happen.
Life is but a breath,
Air is but a breath,
In life you will find the truth,
And find air is the proof.
In a breath you could find nothing,
In a breath you could find everything,
In a breath anything could happen,
In a breath anything could happen.
You travel down a river,
Where bubbles are breaths and you are the giver.
The giver of ripples, of currents,
Of which for endurence.
In a breath you could loose,
In a breath you could choose.
In a breath anything could happen
In a breath anything could happen.
Follow the river of dreams to the sea.
This is eternity you will see.
Breath avery breath,
As if it were your last breath.
In a breath you could sail.
In a breath you could fail.
In a breath anything could happen,
anything could happen.

There There
In pitch dark I go walking in your landscape
Broken branches trip me as I speak
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there
There's always a siren singing you to shipwreck (don't reach out, don't reach out x2)
Stay away from these rocks we'd be a walking disaster (don't reach out, don't reach out x2)
Just cos you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder x2)
Just coz you feel it doesn't mean it's there (there's someone on your shoulder x2)
There there
Why so green
And lonely x3
Heaven sent you
To me x3

Accidents Can Happen
Theres a side of you, could bring on homicide
But livin in a cell changes my view
Maybe your automobile could lose its right front wheel
It happens every day, it could be you
Look back over your shoulder, when you think youre alone, youre not
Each noise, every shadow, look out!
Chorus:
Accidents can happen, its always in the news
Accidents can happen to you
You read it in the paper, you see it on the tube
Accidents can happen
To you
A little haitian doll, that looks a lot like you do
A little powdered poison in your tea
Electricity, invisible to see, Id like to introduce you to mr. e
A malfunction, who would notice, machines and things get hot
A permanent vacation can be bought
Chorus - look out!
(solo)
Accidents can happen, accidents can happen, accidents can happen to you
Chorus - accidents can happen, accidents can happen - look out!

Sonnet-All Happen as God Wants
All things of Nature happen in God's ways;
Each seed and frond; each flower and tree-He grows;
All things must happen in His time and days;
Each life is kindled by the Lord, of course.
Man has a part in everything we see;
Yet, Nature takes the upper hand always;
Unexpected things happen too, may be;
God gives His grace to face well if man prays.
And grief and death must also come some day;
Each tumor grows as per the will of God;
All earthlings are destined to die some way;
We come from dust and must go back to clod.
Yet, prayer can make miracles happen;
Just like how fruits enlarge in size, ripen.

Get On Your Feet
You say I know its a waste of time
Theres no use trying
So scared that lifes gonna pass you by
Your spirit dying
Not long ago
I could feel your strength and your devotion
What was so clear, is now overcast
With mixed emotions
Deep in your heart is the answer
Find it, I know it will pull you through
Get on your feet
Get up and make it happen
Get on your feet
Stand up and take some action
I think its true that weve all been through
Some nasty weather
Lets understand that were here
To handle things together
You gotta keep looking onto tomorrow
Theres so much in life
Thats meant for you
Get on your feet
Get up and make it happen
Get on your feet
Stand up and take some action
Get on your feet
Dont stop before its over
Get on your feet
The weight is off your shoulder
Get up and make it happen
Stand up, stand up, stand up and take some action
Gotta get on your feet, yeah, yeah
Dont stop before its over
Get on your feet
The weight is off your shoulder
Get on your feet
Get up, get up, get up and make it happen
Get on your feet
Stand up , stand up and take some action
Get on your feet

Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. Nothin More To Lose
Get out of that house,
Stop watching t.v.
Have you heard the news,
Well theres a new world here,
And its staring straight at you,
Dont want no politics,
Religion too.
Theyve got nothing left to prove,
Well my hearts beatin rhythm,
And my soul keeps singin the blues,
I know we can make it happen,
Anytime we want it to,
I know we can make it happen,
Now its all up to you.
Chorus
We got nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose.
Were so proud of our intellect,
Arrogant selfish fools
Who can look no further than,
A bunch of separative rules.
Well if were all so clever and technology
Rules,
Why is it were so scared.
I got a rockin psychosis,
And my juke box blown a fuse.
Dont look theres someone watching,
Though theyre many light years away.
Dont stop,
They may be listening to every single word
You say.
Chorus
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose.
Can you feel something strange in your
Heart,
In your brain,
But its not what you think.
Youre just waking out of sleep.
Chorus
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose.
I know we can make it happen,
Anytime we want it to,
I know we can make it happen,
Now its all up to you.
Chorus
You got nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose,
Nothing more to lose.
Can you feel something strange in your
Heart,
In your brain,
Nothing more to lose.

Long Ago, Far Away
by Bob Dylan
To preach of peace and brotherhood,
Oh, what might be the cost!
A man he did it long ago
And they hung him on a cross.
Long ago, far away;
These things don't happen
No more, nowadays.
The chains of slaves
They dragged the ground
With heads and hearts hung low.
But it was during Lincoln's time
And it was long ago.
Long ago, far away;
Things like that don't happen
No more, nowadays.
The war guns they went off wild,
The whole world bled its blood.
Men's bodies floated on the edge
Of oceans made of mud.
Long ago, far away;
Those kind of things don't happen
No more, nowadays.
One man had much money,
One man had not enough to eat,
One man lived just like a king,
The other man begged on the street.
Long ago, far away;
These things don't happen
No more, nowadays.
One man died of a knife so sharp,
One man died from the bullet of a gun,
One man died of a broken heart
To see the lynchin' of his son.
Long ago, far away;
Things like that don't happen
No more, nowadays.
Gladiators killed themselves,
It was during the Roman times.
People cheered with bloodshot grins
As eye and minds went blind.
Long ago, far away;
Things like that don't happen
No more, nowadays.
And to talk of peace and brotherhood,
Oh, what might be the cost!
A man he did it long ago
And they hung him on a cross.
Long ago, far away;
Things like that don't happen
No more, nowadays, do they?
