Thomas Hardy

The Curtains Now Are Drawn

I

The curtains now are drawn,
And the spindrift strikes the glass,
Blown up the jagged pass
By the surly salt sou'-west,
And the sneering glare is gone
Behind the yonder crest,
While she sings to me:
'O the dream that thou art my Love, be it thine,
And the dream that I am thy Love, be it mine,
And death may come, but loving is divine.'

II

I stand here in the rain,
With its smite upon her stone,
And the grasses that have grown
Over women, children, men,
And their texts that 'Life is vain';
But I hear the notes as when
Once she sang to me:
'O the dream that thou art my Love, be it thine,
And the dream that I am thy Love, be it mine,
And death may come, but loving is divine.'

The Chamois Hunter's Love

Thy heart is in the upper world, where fleet the chamois bounds;
Thy heart is where the mountain-fir shakes to the torrent-sounds;
And where the snow-peaks gleam like stars, through the stillness of the air,
And where the Lauwine's peal is heart - Hunter! thy heart is there!

I know thou lovest me well, dear friend! but better, better far,
Thou lovest that high and haughty life, with rocks and storms at war;
In the green sunny vales with me, thy spirit would but pine,
And yet I will be thine, my love! and yet I will be thine!

And I will not seek to woo thee down from those thy native heights,
With the sweet song, our land's own song, of pastoral delights;
For thou must live as eagles live, thy path is not as mine,
And yet I will be thine, my love! and yet I will be thine!

And I will leave my blessed home, my father's joyous hearth,
With all the voices meeting there in tenderness and mirth,
With all the kind and laughing eyes that in its firelight shine,
To sit forsaken in thy hut, yet know that thou art mine!

It is my youth, it is my bloom, it is my glad free heart,
That I cast away for thee - for thee, all reckless as thou art!
With tremblings and with vigils lone, I bind myself to dwell,
Yet, yet I would not change that lot, oh no! I love too well!

A mournful thing is love which grows to one so wild as thou,
With that bright restlessness of eye, that tameless fire of brow.
Mournful! - but dearer far I call its mingled fear and pride,
And the trouble of its happiness, than aught on earth beside.

To listen for thy step in vain, to start at every breath,
To watch through long long nights of storm, to sleep and dream of death,
To wake in doubt and loneliness - this doom I know is mine
And yet I will be thine, my love! and yet I will be thine!

That I may greet thee from thine Alps, when thence thou comest at last,
That I may hear thy thrilling voice tell o'er each danger past,
That I may kneel and pray for thee, and win thee aid divine -
For this I will be thine, my love! for this I will be thine!

To Mine Heart's Captor

To mine heart's captor: thou knowest who for art thou!
With its absquatulation complete, what art thine plans now?
Art thine intentions altruistic and pure-
May thine jollity, these intentions, ensure?
Might thine heart be exalted in consort with mine?
If thee were to seek its consult, how would it opine?
Love knows not impediments, it lasts and grows forever;
Come with me, my beloved, we shall live this truth, together!

Have not thee thought of me, fondly, in mine absence?
The gift of our love is proof of His Divine Benevolence!
Walk this journey called life with me by thine side;
Mine unceasing love shall always, and e'er, be supplied-
For so long as thou art enamored by this offer;
First though, you need remove thine heart from its coffer!

William Shakespeare

Sonnet 142: Love is my sin, and thy dear virtue hate

Love is my sin, and thy dear virtue hate,
Hate of my sin, grounded on sinful loving,
O, but with mine, compare thou thine own state,
And thou shalt find it merits not reproving,
Or if it do, not from those lips of thine
That have profaned their scarlet ornaments
And sealed false bonds of love as oft as mine,
Robbed others' beds' revenues of their rents.
Be it lawful I love thee as thou lov'st those
Whom thine eyes woo as mine importune thee.
Root pity in thy heart, that when it grows
Thy pity may deserve to pitied be.
If thou dost seek to have what thou dost hide,
By self-example mayst thou be denied!

A Dream, a Dream

A dream, A dream,
another dream.
A dream of you,
A dream of love,
A dream of you and me,
we had such chemistry,
If only you could see.
A dream we danced in the moonlight,
A dream we made love til the mornings bright light,
A dream, A dream,
Where my true feeling burst,
A dream, A dream
Makes me feel more hurt.
A dream, A dream,
of true love,
over and over,
over and over,
A dream, A dream
where we are together,
A dream, A dream,
why can't it be real,
A dream, A dream,
where really connect,
A dream, A dream
that I can't reject,
A dream, A dream,
and another dream,
Why can't it be real?
Why can't you love me?

My Juliet, My Love My Dragon-fly

When I dream the dream of paradise
I see a picture of you
And when I dream the dream of love and care
I see a picture of us two

And when I dream a dream of loneliness
I see a shadow on the wall
Looking back at me like
I'm nothing at all

But those dreams a quickly chased away
When I wake up to a sunny day
And I see your pretty face right by my side

When I dream a dream of smiling
The room is full of you
And if I dream a dream of candy land
The sweetest thing is you

And if the nightmare comes along
To say its fond goodbyes
The thought of you will stop it
before those dreams arise

Because with you sharing my bed at night
My dream will always come out right
And tomorrow will always be another day

If I dream a dream while I'm awake
That dream will be of you
If I dream a dream of wedding cakes
I'll dream a dream of you

And when I dream a dream of a loving wife
That dream will be of you
And if I dream a dream of growing old
I'll be growing old with you

And if my dream were ever to come true
I know it will be because of you
And that's the reason that I love you so.

You

Won't see your face in the mirror
Won't stand it at all
I'm seeing, i've been clearer
When i figured it out
In my life i dream about you
You're everything everything i wanted too
And now i'm waiting for lover to come along
Don't want to talk with another
Won't that be long
In my life i dream about you
You're everything everything i wanted you
I met someone but i want you
And now i only stand and fall for you love
Love
Love
Say give love
When might i look so clearly
I need a "known"
When darkness comes to me i would live alone
In my life i dream about you
You're everything i wanted wanted you
In my life i dream about you
Well in my dream i need only you
You're everything everything i wanted too
I met my love and it was you you you
My love
In my life i dream about you
Well if i'd sleep i'd see only you
You're everything everything i wanted you
I need my loving falling from you
You're love

On our ship of dreams

I dream
And feel
Your heart's gaze
And smile amazed

I dream
And see
Our tentative fingers
Interlace

I dream
With my eyes
Locked in yours
And in a daze

I dream
And touch
The contours of your
Loving face

I dream
And find
Lips that grace
Mine in a tender
Longed for embrace

I dream
And breathe
This love's sweet
Heady haze

I dream
This dreamy place
And its slow pace

I dream
This love's
Real daydream
On our ship of dreams

Long Ago & Far Away

Long ago a young man sits
And plays his waiting game
But things are not the same it seems
As in such tender dreams
Slowly passing sailing ships
On sunday afternoon
Like the people on the moon Ive seen
Are things not meant to be
Where do those golden rainbows end
(where do the rainbows end)
Why is this song so sad
(why is this song so sad)
Dreaming the dreams I dream my friend
(dreaming the dreams I dream)
Loving the love I love
To love is just a word Ive heard
When things are being said
Stories my poor head has told me
Can not stand the cold
And in between what might have been
And what has come to pass
Are misbegotten guests alas
And bits of broken glass
Where do your golden rainbows end
(where do the rainbows end)
Why is the song I sing so sad
(why is this song so sad)
Dreaming the dreams I dream my friend
(dreaming the dreams I dream)
Loving the love I love
To love to love to love
Where do your golden rainbows end
(where do the rainbows end)
Why is the song I sing so sad

If Thou'lt Be Mine

If thou'lt be mine, the treasures of air,
Of earth, and sea, shall lie at thy feet;
Whatever in Fancy's eye looks fair,
Or in Hope's sweet music sounds most sweet,
Shall be ours -- if thou wilt be mine, love!

Bright flowers shall bloom wherever we rove,
A voice divine shall talk in each stream;
The stars shall look like world of love,
And this earth be all one beautiful dream
In our eyes -- if thou wilt be mine, love!

And thoughts, whose source is hidden and high,
Like streams that come from heaven-ward hills,
Shall keep our hearts, like meads, that lie
To be bathed by those eternal rills,
Ever green, if thou wilt be mine, love!

All this and more the Spirit of Love
Can breathe o'er them who feel his spells;
That heaven, which forms his home above,
He can make on earth, wherever he dwells,
As thou'lt own, -- if thou wilt be mine, love!

Clasping of Hands

LORD, Thou art mine, and I am Thine,
If mine I am; and Thine much more
Then I or ought or can be mine.
Yet to be Thine doth me restore,
So that again I now am mine,
And with advantage mine the more,
Since this being mine brings with it Thine,
And Thou with me dost Thee restore:
If I without Thee would be mine,
I neither should be mine nor Thine.

Lord, I am Thine, and Thou art mine;
So mine Thou art, that something more
I may presume Thee mine then Thine,
For Thou didst suffer to restore
Not Thee, but me, and to be mine:
And with advantage mine the more,
Since Thou in death wast none of Thine,
Yet then as mine didst me restore:
O, be mine still; still make me Thine;
Or rather make no Thine and Mine.

This Dream of Mine

MY family...
Will they ever understand...
This dream of mine...
How great... and glorious...love complete...
They'll find...
Redemption...forgiveness...
It's through love's grand design

For when and where
Justice and love... and mercy meet
It's a harmony...True love..so de-vine
And love is...
The only dream of mine

Love will mark.... Your paths...
And will led your ways...
For pains.... and tears... and every point
Love...Re-Defines
Love is only... this dream of mine

So to light and life
And love...
Like those endless summer day's
Love... My family...
Love is...only this dream on mine...

I dream my own dream

When I dream of love,
I dream about you..

When I dream about happiness,
I dream about my families..

When I dream of pain,
I dream about all the sadness inside me..

When I dream of horror,
I dream about the nightmare that would
wake me up in the middle of night..

When I dream about the death,
I dream myself crying in sleep..

When I dream a dream,
I dream all those thing
that are real and not real..

I dream about all the thing
that are in my mind,
I dream about all the thing
that I desire for..

I dream my own dream..

All I Have To Do Is Dream

Dream, dream dream dream, dream, dream dream dream
When I want you in my arms,
When I want you and all your charms
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is
Dream, dream dream dream
When I feel blue in the night,
And I need you to hold me tight
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is
Dream, dream dream dream
I can make you mine, taste your lips of wine,
Any time, night or day
Only trouble is, gee wiz,
Im dreamin my life away
I need you so that I could die,
I love you so, and that is why
Whenever I want you, all I have to do, is

Thine Eyes I Wear

Hidden beneath your immense stare
Is thine soul exquisite, refined and rare
Fluid and chilly as a streaming river
Your look, your soul, makes mine shiver
Under thine eyes, thy raiment I wear
The look of love, thine ardent glare
Attractive to thee like the embers of fire
What is that thou sincerely admire?
Is it thine own eyes I wear?
Is it thine eyes that attract thy own stare?
When thou look I change into you
For in thine look, thy love I accrue
Always look at me with that beautiful glare
And thine look, thine eyes, I will proudly wear.

I dream..

I dream of floating away on a cloud
I dream of catching a falling star
I dream of my prince charming
I dream of how I'll save him from the dragon
I dream of cows on the moon
And pink grass

I dream of old ladies knitting socks
I dream the twelve Olympians are real
I dream I'll meet them someday
I dream of vast sugar cane fields
I dream of a bed of roses
And how prickly that must be

I dream of firefly friends
I dream of a lighting bug show
I dream of riding a striped horse down the aisle
I dream of hot air balloons
I dream of polar bears
And penguins

I dream of snow
I dream of rain
I dream of summer
I dream of fall
I dream of day
And night

I dream of the moon
I dream of stars
I dream of going to Mars
I dream of how I'll be queen of the Martians
I dream of how I'll love my subjects
And people always said I belonged on another planet

I dream of love
I dream of faith
I dream of hope
I dream of culture
I dream of life
And I dream sweet dreams

The dream boy

The dream boy shall be nice,
the dream boy shall be sweet,
the dream boy shall be cute,
the dream boy must be funny.
Of course he must be tough,
of course he must be cute,
of course he must be smart,
and most definitly handsome.
The dream boy should pass me notes,
the dream boy should be clean,
the dream boy should be cool.
The dream boy can't be mean.
The dream boy can't be conceited.
The dream boy cannot lie.
The dream boy shall not gossip.
The dream boy shall not brag.
The dream boy shall not stalk.
The dream boy will be made.

But does such a dream boy exist?
