Morning Sky

The morning sky
was one of those

cold January mornings
with redness

up there
amongst

the off white clouds
and she said

I dreamt of you last night
And you came into my room

and into my warm bed
and even my sister

didn't know
you were there

and you said
I dreamt

of Marilyn Monroe
and entered

into her room
and tried to get

into her bed
but I didn’t want

to disturb her sleep
so just sat

and watched her
like studying some

fine work of art
then I woke up

to a cold morning
and she said

you were better off
in my dream

where we kissed
and cuddled

but then
my sister woke me

and you disappeared
into the cold morning air

and you said
yes I remember

I dreamt
of being there.

Last Night I Dreamt Your Perfume

Last night I dreamt your perfume
While I held you in my hand
Last night I dreamt your perfume
You will never understand
The way you make me feel
The promise that you give
Last night I dreamt your perfume
Lost in those dreams I live

Last night I dreamt your perfume
Arched fingers cupped your breast
Last night I dreamt your perfume
Felt your warm breath brush my chest
With gel coat slide I gripped you
Sensation through my veins
Last night I dreamt your perfume
She who bears no name

Last night I dreamt your perfume
Your body meshed with mine
Last night I dreamt your perfume
A guilty pleasure, sweet, sublime
Quiet by my pillow
Your touch I never feel
Last night I dreamt your perfume
This morning, wished you real

I Dreamt Of Her

I dreamt of her and she was in my room,
You dreamt of him and he was in your room,
I dreamt of you and you were in my room,
You dreamt of me and i was in your room,
And like the chemical chain of life!
But, this muse of love is all about us.

The Mix-Up

One winter morning
Upon awakening from a long night sleep
All characters got mixed up with their authors
Including Pinocchio
Who could not decide what was real:
Had he dreamt of being Carlo Collodi
Or was it that Carlo Collodi was dreaming
Of being Pinocchio?

This occurred long after
Upon awakening from a long night sleep
Zhuang Zi woke up from his dream
And was at a loss to figure out
How real was real and asked:
Had he dreamt of being a butterfly
Or was it rather that a butterfly
Was dreaming of being Zhuang Zi?

The next day
As she woke up from a long night sleep
An elephant got mixed up with a crocodile
And she could not decide what was real:
Had she dreamt of being a crocodile
Or was it rather that a crocodile
Was dreaming of being an elephant?

Two years later
Upon awakening from a long night sleep
The moon became confused with the sun
And it could not decide what was real:
Had it dreamt of being the sun
Or was it that the sun was dreaming
Of being the moon?

And in a rare unguarded state of mind
Upon awakening from a long night sleep
God got embarrassed for the muddle
But she could not decide what was real:
Had she dreamt of being Man
Or was it rather that Man
Was dreaming of being God?

Misty Morning, Albert Bridge

I dreamt we were standing
By the banks of the thames
Where the cold grey waters ripple
In the misty morning light
Held a match to your cigarette
Watched the smoke curl in the mist
Your eyes, blue as the ocean between us
Smiling at me
I awoke alone and lonely
In a faraway place
The sun fell cold upon my face
The cracks in the ceiling spelt hell
Turned to the wall
Pulled the sheets around my head
Tried to sleep, and dream my way
Back to you again
Count the days
Slowly passing by
Step on a plane
And fly away
Ill see you then
As the dawnbirds sing
On a cold and misty morning
By the albert bridge

I Dreamt You

I dreamt you
last night
After years that I thought
that my dreams were dry
as I remember
all those days
before I lost my I

Your face clear in the crowd
your hallow curly hair
the innocence of childhood still
no stains beyond repair

I dreamt you
in a middle
of another dream.
Just standing
looking forward
with that look upon your face,
without a smile
without a tear
in golden shining innocence

Your face was like the moon
in full glow but of cold
as if the preview of your life
when your dreams will grow old

I dreamt you
in a riddle
of an unknown golden mean.
Teasing me
with your eyes wide
your gaze so true
in holy hue
a lie could not avail
no passenger in this old ride
but captain of the sail

I dreamt you
last night.
I awoke in comfort and at ease
a master of my life and
in my hands I hold the keys.
I woke refreshed and energised
with certainty I knew
that all is well and there is hope
for I am still just you.

World of White

When I woke up this morning
My world was layered in white
So cold it was and very still
Snow had fallen through the night

No birds chirped a good morning
The bugs were hidden away
Instead was this harsh cold
I felt as though it would stay

I could barely see my lawn chair
For white had settled so thick
I wished I had seen it fall
This snow as it began to stick

The trees and bushes were
A fresh and lovely sight
Snow decorated the branches
Making winter look just right

We must enjoy the changes
So lovely and cold and bright
It will not last for long
This wonderful world of white!

Lucky santa! ! (A funny story)

Santa goes into his son`s room to wish him goodnight. His son is having a nightmare - Santa wakes him and asks his son if he is OK? The son replies he is scared because he dreamt that his aunt had died. Santa assures the son that Auntie is fine and sends him to bed.
The next day, Auntie dies. One week later, Santa again goes into his son`s room to wish him goodnight. His son is having another nightmare - Santa again wakes his son. The son this time says that he had dreamt that his grandmother had died. The father assures the son that she is fine and sends him to bed.
The next day, grandmother dies. One week later, Santa again goes into his son`s room to wish him goodnight. His son is having another nightmare, he again wakes his son. The son this time says that he had dreamt that his daddy had died. The father assures the son that he is OK and sends the boy to bed.
Santa goes to bed but cannot sleep because he is so terrified. The next day, Santa is scared for his life- he is sure is going to die. After dressing he drives very cautiously to work fearful of a collision. He doesn`t eat lunch because he is scared of food poisoning. He avoids everyone for he is sure he will somehow be killed. He jumps at every noise, starts at every movement and hides under his desk.
After days work, upon walking in his front door, he finds his wife, Jeeto, 'Good God, Dear, ' he proclaims, 'I`ve just had the worst day of my entire life! '
Jeeto responds, 'You think your day was bad, this morning my ex-boyfriend dropped dead on the front steps! '

Everything Was White

Woke up this morning,
outside I beheld
a wonderful sight.
Jack Frost had been around
and everything was white.
It might have been cold,
but I didn’t care.
You could see your breath
freezing in the morning air.
Out came the scraper
to get the frost of the car,
still it was a wonderful sight
seeing Jack Frost’s handy work
and everything white.

Early Morning Cold Taxi

3:36, its cold, I know Im growing old,
With lifes best side on the downward slope,
Its in my own hands, I know Ill cope,
My girls with me and all my friends can see.
Here I am again,
Early morning cold taxi.
Early morning cold taxi.
Done it before, do it again,
Know from experience its not in vain,
Shes the best Ive had, I cannot see, what someone else can do to me.
Its a long way home but loves so warm, youll see.
Here I am again,
Early morning cold taxi.
Early morning cold taxi.
Early morning cold taxi,
Each time I do it, I feel so down and out,
Early morning cold taxi,
though my mind thinks strange Ill keep on, no doubt.
3:36, its cold, I know Im growing old,
One day well be wed,
This I know for its what she said,
Then no more will my mind be uneasy.

One Sunny Day I Dreamt

One sunny day I dreamt
I saw a world of pure light-
the purest light that danced inside
my heart and poured upon
the city streets with joy...
One sunny day I dreamt
I saw my love, her smile
upon me like a gentle wind,
somewhere beyond the lonely
shopping malls, beyond
the hungry beggars stooping
dazed and staring at the vulgar
wealth that burns the eyes...
One sunny day I dreamt a paradise!
And then I laughed a very silly
laugh that burst inside me
like a flock of birds that
seemed like people arguing inside
about vacuum cleaners, underwear,
cars, recession, pimples, prices,
and old wars...
One sunny day I dreamt my tears
were like precious gems inside
each living room and bedroom on
display, available to all at no cost!
One sunny day I was a poet lost,
directing all the traffic on
the streets with nothing but
my eyes...
One day-one lonely sunny day-
I dreamt I saw you, darling,
in this sea of lies
where everything is safe
and guaranteed, where
everything is sold to
satisfy your every wish
and need-whether you
need it or you need it not,
it doesn't matter much...
One sunny day I dreamt
I felt your touch that woke
me up to write this childish song...
I looked for you, my love, but you were gone.

Morning Night And Day

One time didn't do it
Two times didn't feel quite right
I didn't know where i was going
I just knew that i would be alright
I woke up in a druken haze
The sun shone to my window?
I said that i'd never do it again
What kind of fool do you think i am?
It happens
It always seems to happen
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Give me satisfaction
Send me to my?
Morning night and day
I had a good time late last night
I didn't think it would ever end
I walked home in a broad day light
Couldn't get a cab at half past five
One drink wouldn't do it
Two drinks are far too much
I didn't know what i was doing
I ate the floor and a pile of dust
It happens
It always seems to happen
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Give me satisfaction
Send me to my?
Morning night and day
So if you think that it won't get you
Well think again friend 'cause it's not true
In my case, it was not my fault
Other people made that call
One time didn't do it
Two times didn't feel quite right
It happens
It always seems to happen
No matter what i say
Morning night and day
I just want some action
Need some satisfaction
Before it gets too late
Send me to my?
Morning night and day

Sidewalk Haibun

The story goes that when the ragged man came into
Papa's bakery and asked for a crust of day-old bread,
my sister cursed him and ran him out into the cold.
'For Christ's sake, get out and stay out! Homeless
bum! ' Before gray morning light and the last snowflake,
I lost a sister to owl-eyed despair and a father to
a final sleep in his room over the bakery.

owl-eyed sister
thorn in my heart-
drifting

skintight jeans
see-through blouse-
in lieu of hairshirt

a wilted spring flower
rue anemone-
rue for you and me
dearest sister

On a dream about you

On a dream about you
~
I dreamt about you last night
Where you lay in my arms sleeping
I kissed your brow goodnight
And held you as close as I dare
I closed my eyes and fell asleep
We lay together so peaceful
Upon waking still within the dream
I brushed back your hair
Saw you smiling back at me
Tightly we held each other
While we said our good mornings
You placed your head upon my chest
As I wished this moment to last
That we may never leave nor change
I told you I loved you
That I would make you my wife
I held you close in my arms
Kissed your fair lips
And awoke alone to write
On a dream about you
I dreamt last night

(Recorded live at the spectrum, Philadelphia 1-5-1970)
People get ready there's a train coming
You don't need a ticket
Clime on board
woooooooooo !!!
Train arrive
Sixteen cortege long
Train arrive
Sixteen cortege long
Will there be no train
Took my baby, it's gone
Train, train
Comin' round the bend
Train, train
Comin' round the bend
Yeah, there will be no evil train
Took my one and only friend
Train, train
Comin' down the line
Train, train
Comin' down the line
Well there will be no rock train
Took me on and a friend of mine
Train, train
Comin' down the track
Train, train
Comin' down the track
Yeah it took my baby
And it never bring her back
Alright
Away, away, away of India
Away of India
Away, away, away, away of India

That's right
Away, away, away of India
Away, away, away of India
That's right, that's right
Away, away, away of India
That's right
Well, i woke up this morning got the crossroad on my mind
Well, i woke up this morning got the crossroad on my mind
Take a walk with me everything will work out fine
Well, i woke up this morning got the joit train on my mind

Dreamscape

You woke me, crying out in your sleep
That a part of you had died,
I could hear the birds by the window seat
As they woke and chattered outside,
So I turned and shook you gently
Thinking to ease your troubled mind,
‘I dreamt I'd been to my wake, ' you said,
‘And the folk were so unkind! '

‘It was only a dream, ' I thought to say
But my tongue was swiftly curbed,
You'd slipped so quietly out of the room
And the bed was undisturbed,
I followed, down to the kitchen but
You must have gone outside,
Out by the dear old mulberry bush
I could hear you, as you cried.

Your sister came and she made the tea
You were talking on the phone,
I could hear you in the solarium
So I took my tea alone,
Then I wandered down to the port, to watch
Them load the ships with grain,
And looked for you on the jetty there
But all I could feel was pain.

We've been together for forty years
But something's rearranged,
I think you must be avoiding me
But I love you just the same,
You wave to me from the flower beds
As I sit in the old deckchair,
And read my book in a cosy nook
Then I look, and you're just not there.

You talk to me in my dreams at night
And you say that you love me too,
And we wander hand in hand again
As we always used to do,
But I think that your mind is fading fast
You forget so much today,
But we'll stick together through thick and thin
I'm there for you, come what may.

Your sister summoned the doctor, I
Was out by the kitchen door,
‘I think he's looking for you, my dear,
But we'll fool them, like before.'
She said, ‘He doesn't accept the fact
That my sister fell asleep,
He'll have to be put in a Nursing Home! '
I sit on the step, and weep!

Empty Sky

I woke up this morning
I could barely breathe
Just an empty impression
In the bed there you used to be
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Blood on the streets
Blood flowin down
I hear the blood of my blood
Cryin from the ground
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
Empty sky, empty sky
I woke up this morning to an empty sky
On the plains of jordan
I cut my bow from the wood
Of this tree of evil
Of this tree of good
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to the empty sky

I Dreamt, I Dreamt Of Poppies

I dreamt, I dreamt of poppies
Growing wild in yonder field
They were blooming red and wonderful
Like a dancer, laced and frilled

Fluttering in the sunshine
Like waves of autumn grain
Or a rolling sea…majestic
As a queen in summer reign

I dreamt, I dreamt of poppies
What a glorious display
In a blaze that flamed the skyline
Of a desert far away

I couldn't see the reason
Yet, they flourished in the sand
When all around was barren
In this brutal foreign land

I dreamt, I dreamt of poppies
Like a ribbon drawn in blood
A slash on the horizon
In a soulless evil flood

The sky was dark and eerie
And smoke had filled the air
The atmosphere, chaotic
With shouting everywhere

I dreamt, I dreamt of poppies
In a garden by a stream
The blooms were bold, were beautiful
More vibrant than a dream

Aside a marble stone
Where hand to heart I wept
For the soul that lay in slumber
Beneath the sod he slept

In The Morning

In the morning when the moon is at its rest,
You will see me at the time I love the best
Watching rainbows play on sunlight;
Pools of water iced from cold night,in the morning.
tis the morning of my life.
In the daytime I will meet you as before.
You will find me waiting by the ocean floor,
Building castles in the shifting sands
In a world that no one understands,
In the morning.
tis the morning of my life,
In the morning of my life the
Minutes take so long to drift away
Please be patient with your life
Its only morning and youre still to live your day
In the evning I will fly you to the moon
To the top right hand corner of
The ceiling in my room
Where wll stay until the sun shines
Another day to swing on clothes lines
May I be yawning
It is the morning of my life
It is the morning of my life
In the morning
In the morning
In the morning
