Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. John (Chapter 20)

It was the day one of the week;
When dawn broke, Mary Magdalene
Came early to the tomb, though dark
And saw the stone large, set aside!

She hurried to Simon Peter,
And other one, whom Jesus loved,
And said, ‘The Lord has been taken.
We don’t know where they have put Him.’

So, Peter with the other one,
Both ran towards the tomb at once;
The other disciple reached first,
But did not go into the tomb.

He bent down, saw the burial clothes!
Then Peter went into the tomb and saw
And saw the burial clothes lie there;
The cloth that covered Jesus’ head
Lay rolled up in a separate place.

The other disciple went in
And saw, believed the state of things;
For, they didn’t know the scripture say:
‘He had to rise from dead, third day! ’

The two disciples returned home.
But Mary stayed outside the tomb;
Bending over the tomb, she wept;
She saw two angels in white there:
One at the head, one at the feet,
Where Jesus’ body had been laid.

They asked, ‘Woman, why do you weep?
She said, ‘They’ve taken the Lord away!
I don’t know where they have laid Him.’
At as she said, she turned around,
Saw Jesus but didn’t recognize.

Jesus asked her, ‘Woman, why weep?
Whom are you searching for right here? ’
She thought it was the gardener.
She asked him, ’Sir, please tell me where
You’ve laid Jesus and I’ll take Him! ’

Then Jesus called to her, ‘Mary!
She said in Hebrew, ‘Rabbouni! ’
Then Jesus said, ‘Stop holding to me;
I’ve not ascended to Father.
But go and tell my brothers all,
I’m going to my Father, God! ’
Then Mary Magdalene went back,
Told all disciples, all she saw.

While disciples stayed with doors locked,
For fear of Jews and evening came:
Then, Jesus stood in their ’midst, said,
‘Peace be with you, peace be with you!
As Father sent me, I send you.’

He breathed on them and said to them,
‘Receive the Holy Spirit now!
Whose sins you forgive, are forgiv’n,
Whose sins you retain, are retained.’

Thomas wasn’t there when Jesus came;
The others told, ‘We’ve seen the Lord.’
He said, ‘Unless I see the mark
Of nails in hands and side, and put
My finger into them, I’ll not
Believe in whatever you say.’

When Thomas was with disciples,
A week later, again inside,
Then Jesus came, though doors were locked,
And said to them, ‘Peace be with you! ’

He told Thomas, ‘Put your finger
Into my hands, into my side;
Don’t be unbelieving, Believe! ’
Then Thomas said, ‘My Lord, My God! ’

Then Jesus asked, ‘Do you believe
Because you have all seen me now?
Bless’d are those who haven’t, yet, believe! ’
Then Jesus did many more signs,
In presence of his disciples.

From Saul To Paul

Saul was a very zealous Pharisee, committed to The God of Eternity,
A circumcised Hebrew of Hebrews, opposed to Christ’s Good News,
Saul threatened to murder anyone, who avowed belief in God’s Son,
Fomenting great hatred and strife, against That Way of Jesus Christ.

Those believing in that time and day, were called people of The Way,
Saul then journeyed to Damascus, to arrest believers in Christ Jesus,
On his journey to destroy the Way, the Lord Jesus had words to say,
“Saul, Saul why do you persecute me”, said The Lord of the Pharisee.

This after Saul fell down in fright, all surrounded, by a Heavenly Light,
The men with Saul heard God’s Son, however, those men saw no one,
Telling Saul simply to continue into, Damascus, to be told what to do,
When Saul got up he could not see, and was led by hand into the city.

In the city Saul’s sight was restored, by Ananias a disciple of the Lord,
With hands scales fell from his eyes, through Christ, who he despised;
Yet some disciples were still afraid, because of havoc Saul had made,
But Barnabas a disciple of Christ, encourages Saul about his New Life.

God can save and change anyone, who comes to Christ, His Only Son,
Just as He changed Saul of Tarsus, to become an instrument of Jesus,
Christ’s Light, to the gentile world, as The Good News, he would herald,
No longer would he be called Saul, but now for Christ, the Apostle Paul.

Martyr Stephen Was By An Angry Mob Killed

Saul actively present when first Christian

martyr Stephen was by an angry mob killed;
assumed responsibility of guarding clothes
of all who zealously to death stoned Stephen.

For is it not written?
'At this they covered their ears
and, yelling at the top of their voices,

they all rushed at him, (Stephen)
dragged him out of the city and began
to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses

laid their clothes at the feet
of a young man named Saul.
While they were stoning him, Stephen

prayed, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.'
Then he fell on his knees
and cried out, 'Lord, do not hold this sin

against them.' When he had said this,
he fell asleep. (To death Stephen
was by the mob executed.) Acts 7: 57-60.

Jesus took bread blessed broke it
gave it to his disciples and said
'Take, eat; this is My body.'

Jesus took the cup gave thanks

For this is My blood

which is shed for many

God’s Family

Speaking to His disciples one day, The Lord said He could not stay,
But upon earth they would remain, with God’s message to proclaim.
Knowing He would soon depart, Christ placed a peace in their heart,
For they’d know where Christ was, with The Father in Heaven above.

As disciples living our life on this earth, it is Christ that we truly serve,
Jesus Himself paid the initial price, as He became for God a sacrifice.
God sent to the earth Jesus Christ, to give to all men a brand new life,
Christ sent The Spirit down to those, who in their hearts knew He rose.

If you believe Jesus is The Christ, you will be born of God in this life,
The Christ is God’s Anointed One, Messiah friend, is God’s own Son.
When Christ returned to His Throne, He didn’t leave men here alone,
He sent The Holy Spirit to live within, every man who believes in Him.

The Holy Spirit is our Counselor, sent from Christ to be our Comforter,
The Spirit guides and lights our way, as we live for our Lord each day.
He who loves The Father and Son, loves God’s Family, yes everyone,
To love God is to obey His commands, to love every women and man.

The commandments of Christ our Lord, in our lives cannot be ignored,
His commands are not burdensome, if His Family’s where you’re from.
When Born Again into God’s Family, you are a member for all eternity,
A family where we serve each other, with care and love for our brother.

As believers live in Christ’s Love, sharing with men God’s Hope above,
God the Father gives men the power, in each and every day and hour,
Power we have today to overcome, through our faith in God’s own Son.
Being born of God gives men the victory, to be in Christ all they can be.

Saul turns Paul: The Road to Damascus

Blinded by a brilliant light,
On the road to Damascus,
Saul of Tarsus, on horse-back
Heard the voice of Jesus Christ:
‘Saul Saul, why persecute me? ’
‘Who are you? ’ Asked Saul at once.
‘I am Jesus Christ and Lord! ’
Saul saw Christ in apparition!
Others saw the light as well,
But couldn’t hear the divine voice!

Hit by the bolt of light from sky,
Saul fell from his horse-back to ground;
The voice bade him enter city,
Where he would be told what to do;
For three days, Saul remained just blind
And did not eat and drink ever!

Ten years’ younger than Jesus Christ,
Saul annihilated Christians
Whenever, wherever, he could;
He never had seen Jesus Christ.

A disciple, Ananias
Had a vision in Damascus;
To go to the house of Judas
And to restore the sight of Saul.

Ananias did as he was bade;
Something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes;
His sight was restored by God’s will
Ananias then baptized him;
He regained strength after eating;
God chose him as His instrument
To spread His name among Gentiles!

Cured by Ananias, he was
Baptized into Christianity;
From Saul of Tarsus, Pharisee,
Was born an Apostle of Christ;
Paul took his newer Latin name,
An ardent Christian, Apostle.
From youth, he knew how to make tents!

His New Testament Epistles
Became a founding voice of faith
And proved that sins can be absolved
Through faith and grace of Jesus Christ!
God forgives any sin of man,
No matter how grave it could be;
Except against Holy Spirit!

Orthodox Hebrew of Tarsus,
Saul journeyed to Damascus,
To seek and arrest Christians there!
Having witnessed Stephen stoned –
The first Christian martyr Saint!

Saul repressed disciples of Christ
At Jerusalem and elsewhere
Arresting and chaining them all,
Forcing them into blasphemy!
He laid siege to the Church!

Paul learnt the Gospel from no man;
It was revealed to him by Christ;
The grace of God had chosen him
To preach the Gospel to Gentiles;

To Paul in trance-like state, God spoke
And sent him on a mission far
To preach the Word to Gentiles all;
To open their eyes from darkness to light
To turn them away from satan;
Receive forgiveness for their sins.

St. Paul wrote epistles in Greek;
He was martyred (beheaded) in Rome.
June’08 – Jun’09 is ‘Year of St.Paul!

The Tomb Is Empty

Face it friend, the tomb is empty; death couldn’t hold Christ, you see,
Although He died for you and me, He’s now on the Throne of Eternity.
The stone, covering where Christ lay, by God’s hand, was rolled away.
In that tomb where Christ was laid, only Christ’s grave clothes stayed,
There He stood, in a body Glorified, Jesus Christ, who bled and died.

Mary was the first one to that tomb, bearing a heart filled with gloom,
She assumed the body was taken, but she would be gladly mistaken,
For, with her heavy heart that day, she would soon hear an angel say,
You will not find Christ Jesus dead, for He rose just like He had said.
She left to tell others not to grieve, for The Lord, they too would see.

Now Mary filled with a joyful heart, from an empty tomb would depart,
Filled with wonder she ran to those, other disciples, to say Christ rose.
Peter began running fast ahead; as they had thought Christ was dead,
Now he ran with much anticipation, enthused by a brand new situation,
Looking inside he just saw clothes, for from the grave Christ had rose.

But all hearts stayed, like the tomb, until Christ entered into that room,
Showing them His hands and side, proving He was The One who died.
Christ would stay for forty days, filling their hearts with joy and praise,
Filing them with His Hope and victory, that will last through all eternity,
Where they shall remain forevermore, with their Savior, Christ our Lord.

The Passing Of A Heart

O touch me with your hands--
For pity's sake!
My brow throbs ever on with such an ache
As only your cool touch may take away;
And so, I pray
You, touch me with your hands!

Touch--touch me with your hands.--
Smooth back the hair
You once caressed, and kissed, and called so fair
That I did dream its gold would wear alway,
And lo, to-day--
O touch me with your hands!

Just touch me with your hands,
And let them press
My weary eyelids with the old caress,
And lull me till I sleep. Then go your way,
That Death may say:
He touched her with his hands.

Transformed Lives

To this world be not conformed, but, by God have your life transformed,
Transformed by Hope and Holiness, in Christ’s very own Righteousness.
Christ, the Living Word became flesh, to make new believers lives afresh,
Through the renewing of your mind, to leave old worldly thoughts behind.

Christ fills you first with His Love, which comes through His Spirit above,
God’s Love to share with all men, as His disciples, as we are Born Again,
Through God’s Love a joy will come, to all who willing submit to His Son,
Joy not from mere temporal things, but, joy right from The King of kings.

Then patience, know as longsuffering, becomes a real part of everything,
As new disciples for Christ our Lord, impatience we simply cannot afford.
Now, when faced with a load of care, we can lift to God a heart of prayer,
This while we speak to God all day, while we walk along life’s narrow way.

A walk leading to fellowship with those, who also follow Christ, who rose,
Creating here on earth God’s Family, all those bound together for eternity,
Family of a Kingdom that won’t cease, bound together in love and peace,
The Love and Peace of Jesus Christ, the Author and Sustainer of our life.

So today become a living sacrifice, by giving all your life to Jesus Christ,
A very reasonable request from Him, who died to save you from your sin.
Why not let Him transform your heart, and from this world you will depart,
But while you’re here on earth my friend, be the light for Him until the end.

Silver Tears Yet Golden Years

Our babies' tears are commonplace,
They cry at anything...
Yet when I looked at Christ's sad face,
Those tears were from a king...
Not just a king, not just a lord,
But total royalty...
And from His death, I stood assured,
Because He died for me...

Disciples know sins have a price,
An innocent must die...
With Christ, a willing sacrifice,
The cost to Him was high...
With no way out, He shed His Blood,
To mingle with His tears...
Forgiveness through the Son of God
That trickles through the years...

A billion prayers are prayed each day
By saints across the world,
Declaring Jesus is The Way,
Triumphant, arms unfurled...
With miracles for young and old,
With prophecies so true,
To be fulfilled as good as gold
And visions meant for you...

Behold, the challenge! Save the lost!
Declare Good News to all,
Lord Jesus Christ has paid the cost!
Explained by Brother Paul...
Like John and James and Peter taught,
In Bible books preserved,
Our precious souls by Christ were bought,
By God's grace, through His Word...

No man can boast he saved his soul
With sins against his name,
For sins when he lost self-control
That cause his conscience shame,
Yet Jesus takes those sins away!
As far from East to West,
His Royal Pardon saves the day!
Through Him, this world is blessed...

But who believes God's great Good News?
Salvation! Saved by faith!
Made plain to Gentiles and to Jews,
So that they might be brave...
Enough to kneel, to pray, to yield,
To trust in Christ the King...
Obedient to God's grace revealed...
To me, that's everything!

When Christ returns, who will He find
Who's faithful to the end?
Who wants to leave this world behind
And join Him as their friend,
To leave their house, their street, their town,
The planet Earth below...
Past silver tears still falling down
For golden years to know?

No More Than Craftsmen

We are no more than craftsmen,
Our materials exist before us,
The word, the thought, the dream
We are those who sew up at the seems
All that lay before them in an aspiration
Towards a harmony that may touch the souls of all.
The words exist, all we may do is re arrange them
And through our ends we may help one another
Though never knowing by offering the soul uneasy
A chance to reflect upon the pains and joys of others,
This life, this life so strange hath changed my soul
Yet within the circle I remain, casting shadows towards
The elemental poles. What a fool I must seem,
Yet within the dream I remain growing uneasy at the thought
Of confronting the reality I so long ago left behind.
Here I am surrounded by joy; here I am surrounded by the beauty of all
Yet to fall and to call upon the demons of my insecurity is to easy
And for this reason I rest my pen upon the page, I flit my fingers across the board
Yet through sharing and never hording the emotion I feel
I have created an ocean within which my soul may drown.
Don’t leave me here, shifting upon he waves and never rising
To ride the crest till it hits the shoreline.
Open up the door for me, I shall not be scared when
Offered the keys to the kingdom of shades
For the Lord of the Dead hath gone before us all
He who has died to know the cry of the soul eternal,
Yet within the one we remain and just as he is lord of death
So is he lord of the freshest breathe a man may breathe within the valley green.
Just as he is lord of the dead so is he lord of the highest sphere
Just as he is the lord of fear so he is the lord of joyful tears,
Yet not only this for he is she who allows us life upon her surface,
Just as he is she who kisses us with moonlight radiance.
Kiss the soul of unawareness; make him shiver by your touch
And know that all that it is you should call upon lies within yourself,
Your hand controls the land of your undressing, just as you may make the day
Just as you may bless the day in your caress. Ride the wave,
Savour all that is good in life just as you savour and appreciate that
All must be in balance within itself. Equilibrium, Harmony, Balance,
This is the way of the highest dance, have faith within yourself if nothing more
Have faith that you alone may open up the doors of unknowing,
Accept nature as your God if nothing more for is not nature all in all,
Is not nature what we are as well as what surrounds us, thus is the secret of unity,
That we each live upon the life of another, as one we are, throughout eternity.

Start Acting Like Him!

Till Jesus Christ returns once more
To rule this Earth we love,
Consider who the Lord died for,
Our Lamb of God above...
Consider why He left us here,
Disciples saved by grace,
In whom God's Spirit can appear,
God's Gospel to embrace...

God doesn't let us soon depart,
While there's so much to do,
To preach Good News to every heart,
To Gentile and to Jew...
Amazing grace bestowed on Man,
Forgiveness without end,
With prophecies that share God's plan,
So we, God's Truths defend...

When healings stir the doubtful minds,
To prove that God still cares,
What precious love each sinner finds,
Anointed by our prayers...
Start acting like the Lord of Lords,
Take charge, as God ordains
And then you'll see how God rewards
With oh so many gains...

The broken-hearted lose their tears,
Restored with so much peace,
To read the Bible through the years,
To seek the Lord to please...
Christ's teachings help express the needs
Of spirit, body, soul,
But without Jesus none succeeds...
Who else can make us whole?

Saint Paul told folks to imitate
The actions that he'd done,
As if their faith to celebrate,
Bring honour to God's Son...
Christ's Kingdom waits! Let faith take hold!
Be faith-filled to the brim!
Receive new hearts as good as gold,
Then start acting like Him...

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Matthew (Chapter 28)

When Sabbath day was over then,
And week’s first day was still in dawn,
Mary and Mary Magdalene,
Both came to see the tomb again.

Behold, there came an earthquake great,
An angel came from heaven’s gate,
And having rolled away the stone,
The angel sat upon it lone.

He appeared bright akin lightning,
And dressed in white, snowy clothing;
The guards with fear lay shaken then,
And turned at once almost dead men!

The angel told the two women:
‘You fear not for, I’m from heaven!
You search for Him, Jesus, I know,
The one who was crucified, Oh! ’

‘He is not here, right now today;
He has been raised from dead, I say;
Come see the place wherein He lay.
Go tell His disciples this, Aye! ’

‘Raised from the dead, He goes ahead
To Galilee ’fore you, He said;
You can all see Him there, behold,
And certainly, as I have told! ’

The women left the tomb in haste;
Their visit had not been a waste;
Afilled with fear and joy, they ran
To tell His disciples, Oh, man! ’

But Jesus met them on their way;
And greeted them like a great Fay;
They fell and paid Him homage then,
Embracing feet of His divine!

And Jesus said to them, ‘Don’t fear.
Go tell my brothers all you hear;
Ask them to go to Galilee,
And there, they can all well see me.’

When they were hurrying to see them,
Some guards had reached city’s gates,
And told chief priests, the happenings.

They counseled with the elders there;
They gave the soldiers money fair;
And warned them to tell everyone:
His disciples stole Jesus when
They slept at night, as wearied men!

‘They promised them that they would save
From governor, if they behave;
And satisfy his questions well,
And keep them out of great trouble.’

The soldiers took the bribe-money;
They did as they were instructed;
Among the Jews, this false story,
Was wantonly circulated.

The disciples all eleven went
To Galilee’s mountain, as sent,
As ordered by Jesus and saw
Him, worshipped but doubted, in awe!

Then Jesus came and said to them,
‘All pow’r in earth and in heaven,
Has been to me, accorded then.
You go therefore to all nations,
And make more disciples of men.’

‘And baptize them in Father’s name,
Spread Son and Holy Spirit’s fame;
And teach them follow my commands,
And carry out heaven’s errands.’

‘Behold, I am with you always,
Until the end of age, all days! ’

Waiting On The Rapture

True Christians encouraging one another
keep on praying encouraging one another
praying in fellowship to God for global peace
praying for kingdom to come in sin release
a day for God is like a thousand years for us
therefore but two days ago when Jesus left us
therefore second coming any minute any second now
therefore faithful friends sow ministry fine seeds now

our faith is Jesus died then resurrected rose went to heaven
faith is souls fallen asleep in death be resurrected to heaven
the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a mighty shout
Jesus with his voice of an archangel will call with God’s trumpet
then the dead in union with Jesus Christ will rise up to heaven first
then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together next

Gatherings By God

Soon God shall gather His Bride, all Believers, for who Christ died,
Greeting His Church in the clouds, gathered with Heavenly Crowds,
When Jesus Christ returns again, to receive all who are Born Again,
When gathered to begin Eternal Life, with their Savior, Jesus Christ.

Then God will gather all, not some, of the nations, up to Jerusalem,
Where all nations we see His Hand, against all who parted His Land.
When final judgment shall be poured, upon all nations, by The Lord,
And so all nations will understand, to Israel, belongs The Holy Land.

God shall then regather tiny Israel, as His prophesies He does fulfill,
Gathering His elect out of every nation, with Christ as their salvation,
For in God’s Palm they are engraved, so all of Israel shall be saved.
Gathered and placed by God’s Hand, back into The Promised Land.

Then God will gather all nations as one, under Jesus Christ, His Son,
The Reign of Christ will never cease, as He brings everlasting peace,
Not just to some, but to all the world, as God’s Kingdom is unfurled,
To every tribe, tongue and nation, that accepts, Messiah’s Salvation.

Today the choice belongs to you, whether you’re a Gentile or a Jew,
For all will be gathered by The Lord, God’s Word cannot be ignored;
Be gathered for judgment to death, before or after your final breath,
Or be gathered unto Jesus Christ, to enter with Him into Eternal Life.

Forgiveness From Calvary

When by God a soul is forgiven, the Spirit of Christ you are given,
The Holy Spirit marks a life, forgiven by God through Jesus Christ,
Friend when we come to Calvary, Christ changes both you and me,
Making a soul into a New Creation, through His Power of Salvation.

That soul with God, in one accord, as they come to Christ as Lord,
Now forgiven of their sinful past, they receive new life that will last,
A new life beginning at the cross, when cleansed of all sin's dross,
Then looking to the Resurrection, Christ gives us His new direction.

A new direction while on the earth, when we experience a new birth,
When born through The Spirit above, born of God, in Christ's love,
His love, that forgives all our sin, changing each heart deep within,
Creating forgiveness in each heart, that God, to others, can impart.

When by The Lord we are forgiven, by Christ's Spirit we are driven,
To forgive others, just like Christ, this for us, is not a big sacrifice,
Considering all that God has done, for men, through His Only Son,
His love can flow from each of us, as we forgive, like Christ Jesus.

Any forgiveness that from us is shown, is not from us, on our own,
But, through the Spirit of Christ, who, manifests for God a new life,
A new life for the Glory of God, to touch hearts on this earthly sod,
With the forgiving spirit of Calvary, that leads souls to life eternally.
