Respect For Absolute Strangers

a touch of wisdom and wise council
strangers are met with hope trusting

the heart reaches out with compassion

because they never hurt or betrayed us
such lessons faults familiarity reveals

I am sad and hurt

I am sad and hurt,
I wonder why am i always treated like dirt,
I hear screaming,
I see weeping,
I want to be your keeping,
I am sad and hurt,
I pretend like nothings wrong,
I feel like the days have been so long,
I touch your heart,
I worry we might fall apart,
I cry because i feel betrayed,
I am sad and hurt,
I understand why we shouldn't talk,
I say we should take a walk,
I dream of you and me,
I try to just believe
I hope we could be together,
I am sad and hurt.

Rich In Council

if any of us make
an error in judgement
many eyes voices

stand ready

listen interpret
with wisdom

observe discernment wise

Writing Requires Experience

Pen poised between my fingers,
but on the page the ball point lingers.
I am willing the lyrics to flow
on what topic? I still don't know.

I realize then that writing poetry
requires experience not gained easily.
A good poet no doubt very wise is,
consequently, the problem arises:
how to gain this vital experience?
The dilemma, and source of my grievance:
how does a coward like me,
hiding from a world I can't stand,
become wise without learning
life lessons first hand?

Can my poems ooze hatred
when I've never been betrayed?
Can I speak vividly of love
when my heart hasn't yet been inflamed
by the warmth it is said to bring?
Will my lyrics be able to sing
with conviction clear and true
and so invoke any sense of relatedness in you?

I want to write
about any and everything
from now till kingdom come.
Sadly, I lack both the experience,
and the wisdom.

Strangers Of The Heart

Through the mist on the harbor
Dancing lights on the water
Shadows move I see you smiling again
When I reach out to touch you
Like a ghost looking through me
Sending chills deep into me
Shattered dreams falling like
teardrops again
As you make me remember

Strangers of the heart
Always safe with words unspoken
Strangers of the heart
Don't take chances they'll get broken
No matter where you are
Hear me tonight I don't want to be
strangers at heart

Broken glass of my mirror
Makes my eyes see much clearer
You and I only a whisper away
Never telling each other

Strangers of the heart
Always safe with words unspoken
Strangers of the heart
Don't take chances they'll get broken
No matter where you are
Hear me tonight I don't want to be
strangers at heart

Strangers of the heart
Always safe with words unspoken
Strangers of the heart
Don't take chances they'll get broken
No matter where you are
Hear me tonight I don't want to be
strangers at heart

Strangers (Prelude to Valentine’s Day)

There’s something in your heart
that’s keeping us apart.
I guess it’s because we’re strangers.

This coming Valentines day
would be the perfect way
for us to be more, than strangers.

I’ll write enchanting words of romance
in the hope there will be a chance,
that we’ll no longer be, strangers.

We can get to know each other
and who knows, later maybe lovers,
and forget that we were once strangers.

The Need for Touch

To touch and be touched is perhaps the most human thing we do.
It can provoke many emotions.
Those who have been hurt, fear it; and want to run away.
Run away from the terror, the abuse, the roughness.
In running away, we feel safe.
Safe from being hurt again... Safe from feeling... But oh so alone...
We have lost trust... the trust we had as a child.

Each time we are hurt, it becomes harder to trust in another.
Trusting that, in reaching out, we won't be hurt again.
But without trust, there can be no peace..
If there is no peace, there will always be a longing. Something missing...
In peace, we can be alone if we wish or

We can reach out and soak in the goodness of touching
and being touched by another. Both are good.

When we can trust in another:
Their touch calms us... soothes us... quiets our fears.
While being nursed, a baby caresses its mother while she nurtures him.
A father's cuddle is returned with contentment and joy.
That bond of trust, born from gentle touch, allows each to be at peace.
It allows each to gather strength from the other.

Some find that animals fill their need to touch. A dog's trust is unconditional.
It will follow you where ever you go and protect you with it's life.
All it wants in return is your touch, your affection.. Your caress.

A caress is a special kind of touch.. It is born of love and mutual trust.
A trust that allows us to stand on our own, even when the other isn't there.
Trusting that, if we call, the other will respond. Without fear...
Without questioning... Simply because we called.. A friend.

In quietly caressing and being caressed we gain strength.
nothing calms faster...
the child in all of us.
the need in all of us..
The human in all of us.
It is good to trust.

Surface Expressions

If I should greet you with a grin
It hardly expresses all that’s within
If I should extend an open hand
It barely tells you where we stand

The surface expressions we select
Are not good mirrors and don’t reflect
So much which beneath the surface lies
One need scratch below for deeper ties

Yet if we think in hardly meeting eyes
We see the truth as known by other guys
We do injustice from the start
To those who keep things close to heart

Or those who have learned by path of pain
To shy from trusting lest be hurt again
To know a heart requires patience taking
Rare a face reveals a heart that’s breaking

We Might As Well Be Strangers

I don't know your face no more
Or feel your touch that I adore
I don't know your face no more
It's just a place I'm looking for
We might as well be strangers in another town
We might as well be living in a different world
We might as well, we might as well, we might as well
I don't know your thoughts these days
We're strangers in an empty space
I don't understand your heart
It's easier to be apart
We might as well be strangers in another town
We might as well be living in another time
We might as well, we might as well, we might as well
Be strangers
Be strangers
For all I know of you now
For all I know of you now
For all I know of you now
For all I know

Strangers

(bobby braddock)
Two strangers passing on the sidewalk
Barely brush each others hand
He says Im sorry
She says dont worry
And that is how it all began
A few short days and night together
And its like they were meant to be
Lying there with her he softly whispers
Just think what we were so recently
Strangers, strangers
The world greatest lovers
Last week we were strangers
Two strangers passing in the hallway
Barely touch each others heart
Now theyre pretending
Two shadows blending
But theyre a million miles apart
Soon shell be packing up her suitcase
Theyll be dividing all the blame
They know how they started
Now empty hearted
They dont have a clue how they became
Strangers, strangers
The world greatest lovers
And now they are strangers
The worlds greatest lovers
Have turned into strangers
Strangers, strangers

Love & Compassion

I used to think love was a dying art
Compassion couldnt live within a crowded heart
I saw my freedom in a poor mans eyes
Hope like a light, will to survive
A sense of dignity to hold up high
These are the simple things
That keep us all alive
And though the rich buy power for a time
One thing that money cant buy
Chorus
Love and compassion
(only) love and compassion
Give it to you
Give it to me
Love and compassion
(only) love and compassion
Thats what it takes
(give love...youre gonna feel love...
Ooo... feel love... youre gonna give love)
One night when I was feelin all alone
I saw a shadow walking in the danger zone
I knew that I would have to make a choice
Hunger in my heart, hunger in my spirit
We wont be free until we equalize
The price of power to the price of every life
And though I know its gonna take some time
Someday were all gonna find
Love and compassion
(onlv) love and compassion
Give it to you
Give it to me
Love and compassion
(only) love and compassion
Thats what it takes to relate
Love and compassion
(only) love and compassion
Give it to you
Give it to me
(oniy) love und compassion
Thats what it takes
(give love... ooo feel love... youre gonna
Feel love... if you give love)
Love und compassion
Love und compassion
Love und compassion
Love und compassion
Love und compassion
(only) love und compassion
Give it to you
Give it to me
Love and compassion
Someday were gonna find it
Oh when I was alone
And I reached out for more
I just opened my eyes
Love und compassion
I know it will take some time
But you know were gonna make it come true
Love and compassion
All my love and compassion
Love und compassion
Love und compassion
All my love, all my love und compassion
Someday, someday were gonna find it, realize it
Take some time to give
Love und compassion
Hope iike a light, and a will to survive...

Fresh Strangers

Deceivers do not become more wise,
When applying their familiar misdeeds.
However...
Those deceived are the recipients of growth,
Comprehension and wisdom bestowed.
To leave behind deceivers to fine new avenues,
As they hope to uncover fresh strangers...
To employ a display of duping,
Not before by them seen.
Hopefully!

Two Kinds of Wisdom

Words of wisdom can indeed, speak to the heart’s most inner need,
But you must be aware my friend, where words take you in the end.
For earthly wisdom can mislead, the heart seeking an earthly need.
While wisdom sent from up above, guides you in God’s perfect love.

Wisdom comes from many schools, some are wise, some are fools,
Even teachings that sound wise, could be packaged in eternal lies.
Earthly wisdom tells you friend, don’t be concerned about your end,
Just live your life for number one, fill each day with pleasure and fun.

Godly wisdom fills you with love, while keeping your mind up above,
God helps you each day to live, knowing that you have more to give.
Worldly wisdom says fill your life, with things that cause much strife.
It tells you to grab the biggest toy, but in the end you’ll have no joy.

Godly wisdom through sacrifice, prepares you for your Eternal Life.
With this wisdom men shall see, Jesus Christ as they enter Eternity.
In the end all worldly wisdom, to the Truth of God it shall succumb.
When men try embracing The Son, He will say what’s done is done.

All the worldly wisdom down here, has no room for The Lord, I fear,
With the wisdom they think wise, the Lord we love, they just despise.
The same Lord who we hold dear, has let us know His return is near,
And Godly wisdom fixes our eyes, upon Christ without any comprise.

Perfect Strangers

Everytime we meet
My heart skips a beat
Seems were perfect strangers
I cant understand
Whats inside of man
That makes us perfect strangers
Through all this time so lonely
All the people with nobody
With lifes misunderstanding
Feel Ive known you all my life
Theres something quite familiar in your eyes
A soul is calling
Do you ever wonder why?
Everytime we meet
A sympathetic beat
In the heart of strangers
Here the love it calls
But you dont know me at all
Seems were perfect strangers
Just like perfect strangers
Ever looked up to the sky
On a night so melancholy
See the angry world around you
Really need someone to talk to
Doesnt mind you feel so crazy
Wheres the understanding stranger
Or the understanding lover
I know therell come a day
When peace will touch the heart of you
Until then I will say
Open up your eyes
Youre not hypnotised
Were not really strangers
You dont understand
That in the heart of love
Theres no perfect strangers
Everytime we meet
A sympathetic beat
In the heart of strangers
Repeats...

Without A Spark To Ignite The Flame

I hear your voice,
In ever changing whispers...
What it is you feel,
On those days you choose to say...
Words you wish me to believe are real.

But I can not trust,
What it is I can not feel.
Or be made to believe...
A feeling that is not there,
Can be made for me to know is real.

Unspoken is that touch that reaches my heart.
Silent are those embers that warm and linger.
Not stirred by words...
Just to have them heard.
Unspoken is that touch that reaches my heart.

I hear your voice,
In ever changing whispers...
What it is you feel,
On those days you choose to say...
Words you wish me to believe are real.
Unspoken is that touch that reaches my heart.

And a passion within me just will not burn...
Or start,
Without a spark to ignite the flame.

Heart

Man's heart is wicked
And bitter
How can he hurt a child
And smile
The pain he causes never leave you
Even in your golden years

On his hands
He has the blood of the innocents
He rapes women and children
And his heart does not quiver

He retains the wages of his workers
He blames the poor for their plight
What makes your conscience dormant,
Your countenance filled with rage?
Eyes without a flicker

From whence you came?
Who is your originator?
You kick the beggar
And ridicule the homeless mother
Even poison the water

Is there hope for the heart of man?
Man kills man for spices
Man kills man for land
Man kills man for killing man
Just for killing sake
No compassion
No mercy
Just hate! hate! hate!

Where is our refuge
Who is our hope
Will this pain subside?
Will these wounds heal?

Messiah, I need a transfusion
Only you can feel
Only you can heal
Make me a new man
One that reaches out to others
One that does not steal
When it comes to life
Only you are real

Hold on
Help is near
Do not despair
This is the time of renewal
This is the time of transformation
Soon the healers will outnumber
the killers
Just hold on!
