Life and Cancer

Life and Cancer
Do you have an answer?
Strange how life passes you faster
With the presence of unwanted cancer

A mild tumour, a brain tumour, a breast tumour
None of that bestows on to life any best humour
With this forbidden disease called cancer
Tissues divide and grow like crazy dancers

Doctors abruptly said he had five months to live
Like a wild fire, cancer has spread barbarically actively
O! Life, why have you trapped him as a depressed captive
His psychological state of mind bears sadness pensively

He marvels with words flowing
Was it not better not knowing
Than knowing when one is going
Without knowing where one is going

Life and Cancer
Do you have an answer?
He spends each irretrievable day, one day at a time
O! Life, Cancer has done him an unbelievable crime

The pain is immoderately insane
Worse than lighting, thunder and rain
And his hope stands very often in vain
Waiting for a cure, composite or plain

The simple facts in life which are true
Is he pictures life with much more value
Someone, someone out there will survive
And the victory for cancer will be deprived

A Tribute to Terry Fox (in iambic dimeter)

While just a teen,
And Cancer struck,
They took a leg
To save his life!
He liked to run
And loved to win;
But Cancer came
To play a game!
Now Earth was hell!
Yet, Fox would run
A marathon
For Cancer’s sake!
His aim was high-
To raise a fund
For Cancer’s fight,
Despite his plight!
But half-way through,
His Cancer spread
To both his lungs,
Despite the drugs!
He covered miles,
Before Life’s end;
Undaunted till
The last, he stayed!
Posthumously,
He turned so great;
His one-legged walk
For Cancer’s sake
Earned him a name
Indelible!
He is ‘alive’!
His run goes on
All o’er the world
In Cancer’s name!
The world had lost
A lad so young
Courageous
Exemplary!

It's Not Fun

Friend, having cancer is not fun, but, praise God the victory's won,
While my earthly life I may lose, but from God, I have Good News,
If I should die, I will live forever, so what my friend could be better,
Receiving my new body, glorified, I shall live as if I had never died.

With this cancer I occasionally pause, but, my life still has a cause,
This life is for The Lord to use, as a witness, of God's Good News,
Though I sometimes deal with pain, for me, there is an eternal gain,
That life cancer cannot take away, as God comforts me day to day.

As this cancer changes my world, God's Truth, I continue to herald,
For one day soon I will be changed, in a way God has prearranged,
When I die or that trumpet sounds, with Christ I will be in the clouds.
Right in the place prepared for me, with my Lord through all eternity.

Friend, it's knowing Jesus Christ, that helps me in this temporal life,
Knowing all pain will one day cease, and I'll enter into eternal peace,
Remembering Christ is omniscient, that His grace shall be sufficient,
As Christ knows my darkest days, He strengthens me, to His praise.

Cancer brings on pain and strife, and so my true hope is eternal life,
Anticipation of The Blessed Hope, is that source that helps to cope,
Since my earthly frame is but dust, in my Savior, I place all my trust,
For when I reach that Eternal Shore, I shall recall my cancer no more.

so unforgiving
mercilessly taking the lives

destined to die

cancer is cancer

What Cancer Can't Do

Cancer is a real menace friend, which brings on an ominous end,
A time when suffering can be rife, with an early exit from this life,
This as life takes a major change, as many things stay the same,
Bringing much anguish to a family, in ways, they have yet to see.

Though cancer affects me and you, its menace has its limits too,
Limits on the devastating effect, upon those lives it has wrecked;
Regarding the victims, I speak of; cancer cannot cripple the love,
One's love, that remains intact, despite cancer's relentless attack.

Cancer cannot shatter our hope, as through it God helps us cope,
With The Lord's sustaining grace, cancer cannot corrode our faith;
Though its ailing effects increase, cancer can't destroy our peace,
A peace, that God instills in us, through the Spirit of Christ Jesus.

Though death may be cancer's will, friendships cancer cannot kill,
Also, it cannot suppress memories, of loving friends and families,
As the ill effects continue to rage, cancer cannot silence courage,
For we know that this entire life, is truly sustained by Jesus Christ.

By this courage we don't fear it, as cancer can't conquer our spirit,
Though in a body it will take its toll, cancer cannot invade our soul,
Or lessen God's Resurrection Power, even during the darkest hour,
As a member of the Body of Christ, cancer can't steal Eternal Life.

Pink (cancer)

send out this poem to all that you know
Stop the cancer before it grows.

PINK

She was dressed all in pink to show her support
Of how she was one of the cancer victims
And how she had fought.

The cancer now in remission and she
Was leading a normal life
But no one knew of her struggles and strife.

It's hard to imagine when you're given that kind of news
We can treat the cancer, but a breast you will lose.
You feel violated and raped by that word
This was something that other people heard. (not me)

Breast cancer has no preference to whether
your yellow, Black or white - male or female
We all have to fight.

You hear about it every day- and it affects
us all in a different way.
You may think that it's just muscle and tissue taken away
But ask a victim and see what they say.

A MAMMOGRAM AND ULTRA SOUND IS THE KEY
TO HELP YOU LIVE CANCER FREE.

Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Everything
Everything gives you cancer
Theres no cure, theres no answer
Everything gives you cancer
Dont touch that dial
Dont try to smile
Just take this pill
Its in your file
Dont work hard
Dont play hard
Dont plan for the graveyard
Remember -
Everything

Theres no cure, theres no answer
Everything gives you cancer
Dont work by night
Dont play by day
Youll feel all right
But you will pay
No caffeine

Where they put their deadbeat mom

Cancer

We don't know
How strong we are
Til being strong
Is the only choice
We have.

Why is it
That we have to be
Strong for others
When we have to be
Strong for ourselves?

Someone once said
'Wining isn't everything'
Well, he obviously
Never had
Cancer.

To lose your fight
Against cancer
Is to give in
To cancer
And die.

Though many are scared
Of this dreaded cell
Cancer is only a word
Not a whole
Sentence.

Just remember
You are not
Dying from cancer
You are living
With it.

Stand Up To Cancer

The human body's all we are
Till we explore this life,
It doesn't matter, near or far,
We find both joy and strife,
Such that we learn from history
How life was lived before
And from statistics we can see
Something we can't ignore...

The world is changed each time we smile
And also when we cry,
But no-one wants to face the trial
When Cancer comes close by...
Though Doctors treat and Nurses soothe
And families make a fuss,
The whole world needs to know the truth...
The future's up to us...

How precious life has always been,
Donations prove that's true,
Research helps Man to intervene,
So credit where it's due...
Prevention is the target still,
Till then, one thing's unsure,
When Cancer comes to make us ill,
Are we part of the cure?

What if we give before instead?
What if we donate now?
What if we give in time ahead
By simply asking how?
What if together money's raised
So Cancer's on the run?
Perhaps that's how we'll be amazed,
The day we think as one...

That's why support for charities
Is thought to be sublime,
Such that we share some hope, some peace,
Perhaps some extra time...
Since Cancer harms both young and old,
Beyond each smoker's brand,
It's up to us, be brave, be bold
And thus to take a stand...

Stronger Than Cancer, Bob

I felt different, a little tired
worn out, ill here and there
visit the Doctor, did some test
took some picture, waited for the results
A spot in me started small, got bigger
Time will tell, not a good sign
here came the shock
the bad word no one wants
but I take it stride cause i can beat it.
I am strong, I have will, the power to go on
my new slogan Stronger Than Cancer
no one will beat me down
I will grow old, see my boys grow
see them wed, see their kids
I will not give, , no matter when
Stronger Than Cancer
hope will rally, cures to be found
Meds to take, no fakes
I will survive, fight for life
pain will never go, mind so strong
prayers needed, prayers answered
the fight never ends, I will not bend
till the end. I am Stronger Than Cancer
Thanks Brothers, Sisters, Friends and Mother
for the love of me.I will survive
Strong Than Cancer, Bob

Sonnet: Cancer Today

The fight against disease called cancer is
On-going for so many years but still,
Not much relief is wrought from its death-kiss:
The diagnosis made when one is ill!

Research is done with big money inputs;
New drugs are patented without headway;
The developments come out with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’!
Most cancers strike in relentless a way.

No cancer can be cured if found quite late;
Prevention is the only way to deal;
Despite progress in science, unchanged is fate
Of cancer-stricken men – what scientists feel!

Doing unwanted things, man/ woman lives;
‘Keep body pure’ – advice God’s Nature gives!

Cancellation

The innocence is like cancer,
A cancellation of heaven
Wherever the world.
Cancer is a camera, a post
To be held in the hand.
The cameraman is gifted,
My warming of the shape is plenty.
Boiling and melting,
Snapping and curling,
My cancer spreads
And conceals itself
Until medicine looks at it,
The doctor connects.
Innocence is a way of cancer.

My Cancer

A little more has died
A life so disguised
A million masks
One for each day
So happy
I got all the answers
One of them is my cancer

A world full of blood
All for what we call love
So we can fake it
So we can take it
It's all ours

A little more has died
But at least I can say I tried
A million tasks
One for each day
So busy
No time for answers
I already got one, Its called cancer

A world for the innocent
A road to the oblivion
A mouth full of razor blades
So cut up
Mangled by the verbal
Some words are best left unsaid
Better for the undead

A little more has died
A child wonder why
A million people have asked
One for each day
So much agony
Looking for all the right answers
But I got is this cancer

Another tragedy
An accident that can't be undone
A noose hanging off the wall
A phone rings
But nobody's there to answer the call

A little more has died
Another lost soul has been denied
A million that will never last
One for each day
So angry
No more answers
All I got left is my cancer

Absurd Breast Cancer Prevention

“Surgical removal of the breasts before any sign
of cancer is one way to significantly lower the risk.”
Journal of Clinical Oncology, March 15,2005

'Changing Your Lifestyle Can Change Your Genes...
genes are not your destiny', Dean Ornish, M.D.,
Newsweek, June 17,2008

She is scared to death, so what is the answer?
Tell me doctor, please, advise her while she is healthy,
For she is statistically at a high risk of becoming ill
And afraid to contract the dreadful breast cancer.

Cut her healthy breasts, remove all hale tissue,
The good surgeon tells her, with assurance insists
That the operation solves the problem, reduces the risk
To zero, and so cancer is no longer the issue.

But the injudicious medical counsel fails to inform her
That as a life style scourge cancer can be prevented better,
And anyway, removing the breasts does not really matter
Because the disease may strike the body elsewhere.

This brutal cure is absurd, like the act of one afraid of steps,
A person at a high risk of fractures who avoids walking
And in a Kafkaesque way opts to amputate the limbs
In order to prevent the breaking of the legs.

My Mother and My Cancer

My mother always told me that without health, you have naught.
Now I find myself in a place I’m truly caught.
Cancer ate one of my kidneys and my bladder’s a sorry sight.
Expert doctors are working hard, but disagreeing what is right.

The one who sliced me open did a great job cutting out the cancer.
But as for the matter of my inflamed bladder, she really has no answer.
She suspected an infection and a urine specimen proved it was so;
Confusing since a specimen to the other doctor had resulted in a “no.”

All I know for sure is that the sewed up incision is not what hurts.
I’m suffering from what has attacked my bladder with the pressure it exerts.
As I sit down my lower body screams for help with what’s the matter.
My prostate cancer has been usurped by first kidney and now bladder.

Dear mother I have spared you the knowledge of my trauma.
You’ve had enough; you’ve had it tough in your 91 years of being mama.
Just know that your first born is enjoying a life in the style you taught.
Love is the way and each day is a gift; life’s jewels that can never be bought.

If I Had The Cure For Cancer

I can sense the tinge of annoyance
You have for the work of my pen,
I regret to cause a disturbance
In your spirit, it's about God again.

But Friend, will it not be better-
There's no time to be wasted today,
And if I had the cure for cancer,
Would you like me to hide it away?

It's for you I have been praying,
That you take His Gift and be free
Your cancer of soul is advancing,
And the cure is His Love and Mercy.

Your discouragement and deep anger,
All regrets and past bitterness,
Toss the soul to malignant cancer
That leaves you victim to distress.

He is a better cure for cancer,
For eternity your soul will be well.
That is why I endure your anger,
I won't like you confined into hell.

'Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed;
save me and I will be saved, for You are the One I praise, '

Quite A Different Battle

By the Trumpet or veil of death, I’ll be breathing Heaven’s breath,
Life has taken a turn for the worse, a consequence of sin’s curse,
No one likes the dreaded c-word; we grieve when cancer is heard,
Still God above is big and I am small, and He is still Lord over all.

Though the time ahead looks bleak, and in my flesh, I’m so weak,
I must lean upon The Lord I know, Who leads me in the way to go,
In times that I have no strength at all, He will help me stand up tall,
On the Rock, my solid foundation; Jesus Christ, God of Salvation.

Christ The Savior of my very soul, will see me through a dark haul,
And when there’s no light to see, He’ll guide me through to eternity,
Although the cancer may take its toll, Jesus Christ is still in control,
And knowing all that I’ll have to do, His Grace shall see me through.

Christ Himself, will light for me, the paths ahead that I may not see,
Receiving strength, under His wings, as I deal with unknown things,
This cancer may present a fight, but, Christ Himself will be my light,
Through a temporal gloomy world, until my eternal home’s unfurled.

Cancer will not defeat me friend, for I know Christ, my ultimate end,
My time will surely end down here, but in light of this I have no fear,
For my battles were already won, on the cross, by God’s Own Son,
And when I’ve finish my earthly race, I will behold my Savior’s Face.

Mom Chose Me

Mom was four months pregnant with me,
When she got the very bad news.
She had cancer malignancy.
To treat there was no time to lose.
Mom needed chemo right away,
If there was to be hope at all,
To keep the cancer spread at bay.
An abortion was a must call.
But, Mom said it would have to wait
Till I was safe and sound outside.
I came at the earliest date.
Mom held me close before she died.

My Mom gave all that she could give,
So that I could be born and live.
