Fear of Death
In death we die alone
to dust and bone
we return to take our
rightful place on earths throne
Dying of an endless cancer
Whispers on the cold clay earth
A stillness in the air
Filled by sudden fear
When the shadows of darkness
are knowingly very near
A stillness in the air
Filled by sudden fear
Whats next, When and where
Curiosity of thoughts
above or beyond
A heart beats endlessly
pondering on what is out there
which remains a mystery

Home--Coming
From the howl of the wind
As I opened the door
And entered, the firelight
Was soft on the floor.
Mute each in their places
Were table and chair,
The white wall, the shadows,
Awaiting me there.
All was strange on a sudden!
From the stillness a spell,
A fear or a fancy,
Across my heart fell.
Were they waiting another
To sit by the hearth?
Was it I saw them newly,
A stranger on earth?

Fear Not the Unknown Face of Fear
You cant predict what you'll be afraid of next,
just hope with time the fear will fade.
I look back at all
that frightened me
as child and laugh.
Before cancer, organ failure,
global takeover or sudden car crash,
there were ufos, bolts of lightning,
Spielberg's E.T. and
thoughts of my parents divorcing,
peewee herman made me cry
as did the thought of my father
being deployed to fight in a foreign war.
There were the unknowns waiting in my closet,
the shadows lurking outside my window.
Thought of scorpions and blackwidows,
stinging and biting,
as I went to put on my shoes.
Then came the fear
of not being accepted as cool;
what brand is my shirt,
what brand are your shoes?
Fear to speak
afraid of judgment
afraid of asking for help
afraid of my own scary self
the fear of mirror reflection
afraid of peer rejection
fear of the snickers
afraid of the whispers
afraid of opinion
fear of the truth
fear of goodbyes
afraid of hellos
fear of the dark
afraid of the bed
fear of my own frightful head
wosrt of all the fears
the fear surrounding the dead
No fear now in the comforting voice,
assuring the fear is all inside my head.

Unremourseful Death
The sin of murder
Death by blade
Crimson River flowing
The emotion of remorse
Absent by power
Blood smothering metal
The eyes of fear
Looks by last
Heartless evil sneering
The heart of decease
Beats by stillness
Oblivious into darkness

Into the Stillness
Stillness,
fades from an
awakening memory,
sounds return
wheels humming
waving quietly
into the nights air
into the cool September air
amidst the darkness
tears began to fall
like rain
Looking into the
fading stillness
the border quickly
fades,
into the darkness,
into the stillness,
into September's chill
Before drifting off
to sleep
at the September crossing
I said, 'good-bye'
stillness now gone
as the memory returns

I Pray For Darkness...
i pray for darkness...
wrapping splintered lights
in perfected stillness...
stillness that heals
without questioning
why or who!
stillness that sings,
with every pulse of blood
through bodies worn...
stillness that redeems,
bringing the searcher
to his final destination...
stillness that removes,
the cross, , the crown of thorns,
lays down the shield of honor...
stillness that fills,
the empty cup, the box forgotten,
bringing the lover
to the lips of longing...
spilling his passion
on the fertile earth!
i pray for darkness,
removing all graven images,
the power of the formless
to form again and again...
i pray for darkness,
the moonlit touch forbidden,
the lover's cry, the wolfen howl,
the mystic taste of that which
cannot be seen... but felt!

Stillness Of The Night
Midnight on the hill I heard the thunder fill
The stillness of the night
It hit me like a slap, youre never comin back
From the stillness of the night
It was never black or white, neither wrong or right
Like the shadow of a full moons light
I knew wed lost the track, when I heard the lightning crack
The stillness of the night
Chorus
In the stillness of the night
Thats when well make it right
We can stop the thunder till the light
In the stillness of the night
I know you think you hear, those voices in your ear
In the stillness of the night
But Ive tried to make it clear theres nothing left to fear
Just the stillness of the night
And if you listen hard you might find the reason for your fright
Just the wind is high tonight
And the danger we must face is the anger of this race
In the stillness of the night
Chorus

The One Certainty
Vanity of vanities, the Preacher saith,
All things are vanity. The eye and ear
Cannot be filled with what they see and hear.
Like early dew, or like the sudden breath
Of wind, or like the grass that withereth,
Is man, tossed to and fro by hope and fear:
So little joy hath he, so little cheer,
Till all things end in the long dust of death.
To-day is still the same as yesterday,
To-morrow also even as one of them;
And there is nothing new under the sun:
Until the ancient race of Time be run,
The old thorns shall grow out of the old stem,
And morning shall be cold and twilight grey.

Death Is Fear
Death is fear
Fear to me
Once I heard is Fear nothing but Fear itself
& the thought of endless darkness is Fear
So fear nothing but fear itself
Death is fear
& I'm terrified

Fears of a teenage mafioso
Fear of love,
Fear of pain,
Fear of the unforgiving cane,
Fear of lies,
Fear of sighs,
Fear of those distraught eyes,
Fear for the unknown,
Fear for the known,
Fear of everything combined,
Fear is what makes me blind,
Fear is what makes me think,
and act in blind accordance,
Hindering the world around me,
Hence, My Fear of myself
Fear is when you run away,
Fear is when you’re scared to love someone,
Fear is when the sky turns grey,
Fear of confusion,
Fear is like a dark blue ocean,
Fear won’t let me escape
Fear mocks me, watching
Fear taunts me, waiting
Fear of losing,
Fear you cannot see,
Fear dealt upon thee.
Fear of darkness and death,
Fear of a dead comrade,
Fear of a gun being cocked,
Fear of being endlessly stalked,
Fear of time,
Fear of all the crime,
Fear of the undesirable truth,
Fear for the good.
Fear for the sake of life,
Fear of the neighbors next door,
Fear of the secretive man in the subway,
Fear of the revolutionary uproar,
Fear is to not rejoice your living,
Fear for the sake of your life,
But to fear is to forsake it.
Fear is to have no hope in life,
Fear of the fear of fear,
We need no reason to fear,
For fear has no reason for itself.
I guess life is just like that,
To fear for no reason,
For to fear is not to reason,
But to reason is to fear.
To fear for the sake of fear,
Is fear for fear,
So let me think,
What else do I fear?
What else do I fear?
What else do I fear?

In The Darkness
Why am I here now
What have I done
Running on empty - I got nowhere to run
Cant get an answer
Cant get it right
Just try to make it
till the end of the night
Is there a way to avoid doing wrong
Lead me away from the darkness
Light up my day show me where I belong
Please dont leave me all alone in the darkness
Far in the distance
There is night, there is day
Sounds are waving nets of dismay
Sometimes Im stuck in a shocking delay
Like in a slow motion movie
Im reaching out for something to hold
Life slips away in the cold - in the cold
My heart is so cold - my heart is so cold
Why was I turned down
Whats going on
I wish there was something that could have been done
How can I get there
Where is the light
How can I make it
till the end of the night
How can I turn darkness to light
Leaving my fear in the darkness
Is there a way how can I overcome
My restless nights and my fear - and my fear
In the darkness - in the darkness - in the darkness

Psalm
Stillness; as if blind people sank down by autumnal wall,
Listening with rotten temples to the flight of the ravens;
Golden stillness of autumn, the countenance of the father in the flickering sun
At evening the old village decays in the peace of brown oaks,
The red hammering of the smithy, a pounding heart.
Stillness; in slow hands the maid hides the hyacinthine forehead
Under fluttering sunflowers. Fear and silence
Of extinguishing eyes fulfills the dusking room, the halting steps
Of old women, the escape of the purple mouth which slowly expires in the darkness.
Taciturn evening in vine. From the low rafters
A nocturnal moth fell, nymph buried into bluish sleep.
In the courtyard the farm boy slaughters a lamb, the sweet smell of the blood
Clouds our foreheads, the dark coolness of the fountain.
The gloom of dying asters regrets, golden voices in the wind.
When it becomes night you look at me from moldered eyes,
In blue stillness your cheeks decayed to dust.
So quietly a weed's fire expires, the black hamlet in the ground falls silent
As if the cross climbed down the blue hill of Calvary,
The silent earth ejected its dead.

Long Journey Ridden In Death Paced Spaces
dust darkened brown mustard
pale black rider ridge shadowed
a resolute stillness awakened
haunts solemn purpose onward
motion death bidden fist shadowed
finality mortal clay loom claimed
do you ride resolved
soul determination filled
to certain death scorned
are you already dead
freedom liberty sacrifice pledged
bullets rained rim fired

I fear for myself
Wipe away my tears
but you'll never dispel my fears,
Read well my thoughts
but you'll never delet my doubts;
I fear not that a fig might run dry,
I fear not that I'll one day die,
I fear not that I might again cry,
I fear not that I might tear again my eye,
but, I fear for myself - for me:
that tommorrow you might love no longer...
And then leave me...
I fear for what I may be
if you, my love, sudden may cease to love me.

Don't Fear the Dream
Don't fear the dream, children, as I once did
Don't fear the dream in the stillness of night
Follow that call, given in the darkness
For it will lead you into that bright light
Don't fear the emotions that well within
Don't fear the emotions as the tears fall
Follow your conscience, speaking deep inside
For life with no heart, is no life at all
Don't fear the power that you've been given
Don't fear the power when your moment comes
Follow the Giver who gives you your strength
For there's reason you are who you've become
Don't fear the dream, so bold, as I once did
Don't fear the dream or the visions by night
Follow that call, as given by your King
For reward awaits those who fear, yet fight
And, even when your struggle seems hopeless
And, even when your heart begins to fail
Don't fear the impending evil ahead
For if He is with you, you will prevail

The Fear Of Death
Death,
Death comes to us all
It comes so sudden
There is no way to stop it.
Death,
Its cold clamy hands
Sends chills down our spines
Its hidden around every corner
Death,
It surrounds us
Even in ur dreams
You feel it follow you everywhere you go
Death,
We all fear it
But once it comes for us
We no longer feel the fear of Death

It Is Not Just Death I Fear
IT IS NOT JUST DEATH I FEAR
It is not just Death I fear
But the breakdown before it-
The loss of powers-
The tormented half- sleepless nights-
The wandering in mind
With ability to concentrate and work – lost -
The pain I give to others I love-
The dependency despite myself-
The weakness and the confusion-
It is not just Death I fear
But dying -
And the inevitable increased selfishness
That comes with it-
Focusing on what I once took for granted
Minor physical functions not working right
The endless small humiliations
And the increasing helplessness-
It is not just Death I fear
But dying
And the pains and humiliations that come with it.

Opens Both Ways
walking into death...
hands that grasped for so long,
learning to let go!
we spend our lives
in front of the easel...
and now the paint begins to dry.
at best, our dying
is the culmination of,
the fulfillment of destiny,
perhaps...
it finalizes the giving,
leaving the perfume of identity
hanging in the air.
we make love on a bed of pine needles,
small impressions on the ground.
the earth turns, the tides return,
the fires gone dim with stillness.
nothing to fear that we can change,
we've already laid the plank.
the door opens both ways...
the key on the windowsill!

Ash-Wednesday
Glitt’ring balls and thoughtless revels
Fill up now each misspent night—
’Tis the reign of pride and folly,
The Carnival is at its height.
Every thought for siren pleasure,
And its sinful, feverish mirth;
Who can find one moment’s leisure
For aught else save things of earth?
But, see, sudden stillness falling
O’er those revels, late so loud,
And a hush comes quickly over
All the maddened giddy crowd,
For a voice from out our churches
Has proclaimed in words that burn:
“Only dust art thou, proud mortal,
And to dust shall thou return!”
And, behold, Religion scatters
Dust and ashes on each brow;
Thus replacing gem and flower
With that lowly symbol now:
On the forehead fair of beauty,
And on manhood’s front of pride,
Rich and poor and spirit weary—
All receive it, side by side.
And the hearts that throbbed so wildly
For vain pleasure’s dreams alone,
For its gilded gauds and follies,
Now at length have calmer grown.
Oh! that voice with heavenly power
Through each restless breast hath thrilled,
And our churches, late so lonely,
Now with contrite hearts are filled.
Fair and lovely are our altars
With their starry tapers bright,
With dim clouds of fragrant incense,
Fair young choristers in white,
And the dying gleam of day-light,
With its blushing crimson glow,
Streaming through the lofty casement
On the kneeling crowd below.
Tis an hour of golden promise
For the hearts that secret burn
With contrite and anxious wishes
To the Father to return;
For a Saviour, full of mercy,
On His altar-throne is there,
Waiting but that they should ask Him,
For response to whispered prayer.

You Must Make Me
You must make me remember our younger days
when love had filled our desire.
You must not allow me to forget these times,
never let them expire.
For though we aged my heart beats wildly
and is filled with thoughts of you.
And I do not want them to quiet down
or disappear from my view.
You must find a way to keep at bay
the ever present fear
that surfaces in the ageing process
with each approaching year.
For though we cannot bring youth back,
we cannot let it die.
You must make me remember how we were.
You must content me with a sigh.
