Epitaph I
On A Portrait Presented To J. Y. Simpson, M.D. (Afterwards Sir James Simpson)
Unto myself my better self you gave.
I give yourself yourself: but ah, my friend,
In how inverse a ratio! To amend
The unjust return these thanks are all I have,
Except a sigh, when that poor 'all' is o'er,
To feel, alas, no less your debtor than before.

The Early Years
For on it might be,
To be so free.
But for me
Only God holds the key.
I look ahead
To see what life holds.
No heart is made out of lead,
So mine has to be bold.
So all I must say, before I cry.
Please, I don't want to say goodbye.

Super Samson Simpson
I am Super Samson Simpson,
I'm superlatively strong,
I like to carry elephants,
I do it all day long,
I pick up half a dozen
and hoist them in the air,
it's really somewhat simple,
for I have strength to spare.
My muscles are enormous,
they bulge from top to toe,
and when I carry elephants,
they ripple to and fro,
but I am not the strongest
in the Simpson family,
for when I carry elephants,
my grandma carries me.

I Feel
You hold me here.
I feel the pain.
I feel the torture.
You anchor me down.
I want to get away.
I feel the need.
I feel the deprived.
I long for freedome.
I look for the way out.
I feel so sad.
I feel like a mistake.
I search for the escape.
I call for help.
I feel rage inside.
I feel nothing at all.
I weep silently

Can I Go On?
Written & composed: quincy jones, nickolas ashford & valerie simpson
Music: quincy jones, nickolas ashford & valerie simpson
Lose it? lose it?
I dont even know the first thing about what theyre feeling;
What am I afraid of?
Dont know what Im made of,
Can I go on, not knowing?
Feeling? feeling?
Something tells me that its more than I can deal with;
Tho I never knew the song,
Some words still catch on like caring,
And sharing being together, no matter,
Can I go on not knowing?
Dont know what Im made of,
Why am I afraid of
Feel-ing? feel-ing? if I dare to take a chance,
Would someone lead me?

What You Gave Me
(nickolas ashford/valerie simpson)
Youve given me so much warmth
I dont see how I could ever grow cold
In my mind theres a picture of you and i
That nobody has the price to buy
I dont know what made you change your mind
But youll be back
Its just a matter of time
cause what you gave me is more than enough to last
Ooh, baby
What you gave me is more than enough to last
Yeah, into my life you came
Like a breath of spring
Giving me a song to sing
Though I know youre leaving
But I wont be grieving
cause time has a way of showing us
The things that we really need
And no matter where you go
I know youll find your way back home
cause though I know its not reality
Youll always be a part of me
cause what you gave me is more than enough to last
What you gave me is more than enough to last
What you gave me
What you gave me is more than enough to last
Yes, yes its more
Its more than enough to last
Yes, yes its more
Its more than enough to last
What you gave me is more than enough to last
What you gave me is more than enough to last
What you gave me is more than enough to last
What you gave me is more than enough to last

The Desire
Your touch, Your voice
Is what I need
I feel so down
You bring me up.
You touch
Brings the fire inside of me
Been dead so long
You gave it life.
Your voice
Gets me inspired
To continue on
With all my work.
You in general
Make me star struck
To see you with me
Here and now.
Am I dreaming?
I hope it never ends
You are my desire
You're what I need.

Because Your Voice Was at My Side
Because your voice was at my side
I gave him pain,
Because within my hand I held
Your hand again.
There is no word nor any sign
Can make amend -- -
He is a stranger to me now
Who was my friend.

I'm an artist, and I go in the studio and make my music. And then I'll give it to my dad and he does what he does. And he does, you know, the press, and figuring out shows and whatnot. When it comes to my artistic freedom, he doesn't, like, step on my toes or anything.
