Mother and Daughter
Not so cunning as a fox
My curious daughter went uninvited into my jewellery box
She left a trail of clues so clear
That said she had explored my gear
But a memory was unfolded
I didn't question, I left her unscoulded
I remember having the same obsession
With my own mothers precious possessions
It made a smile wash over, with pounding heart beats.
Mother and daughter, for ever and ever and history repeats!

Re-Dedicated
Simmering stew of love
Left unattended
She left in such a rush
That she forgot to tell:
When to straighten my skirt
And when done away with
-Put my smiles away in attic
[Originally inspired after a brief conversation with a very precious friend about her mother who died when she was 5; didn't know that in just six months it had to be re-dedicated to her when she died and left her 5 years daughter-forever; this is from her daughter]

She Died
She died,
And I saw the loved ones cried
Right on her mother's arms she slept,
And not a word she said when she left,
Or if at all to return.
I missed the way she walked;
How she talked.
And the mother, she's getting no younger,
Can she bring forth another daughter?
A daughter to soothe the pain
This daughter left behind her.

My Daughter’s New Daughter
My daughter’s new daughter
How precious and sweet
Beautifully perfect
From her head to her feet
Ten tiny fingers
And ten tiny toes
All dressed up in lace
With a cute button nose
I look at her face
And I see her bright smile
I have to admit
Takes me back quite awhile
I remember the day
Brought my own daughter home
More precious than anything
I’d ever known
My daughter’s new daughter
How precious and sweet
Beautifully perfect
From her head to her feet

My Name Is Mom
It was brought to my attention after I became a Mom
That I was no longer me, but someone I’d become
I am still the same person that I was before the kids
But the reference to my identity was different before this.
Now I’m someone’s Mom, I don’t even have a name
And I was slow to notice it, so who was I to blame?
Someone I barely know quizzically looks at me and says
I think I know your daughter, she’s in my daughter’s class.
My name is D. I tell her and she looks at me confused
She’s waiting for my last name so it will give her clues
And here I must confess that her name as well eludes me
But her daughter’s name is Nancy, that’s ironic don’t you agree?
So for those of you awaiting the blessed event of your first child
Remember the words I’ve written here for one day you will smile
When that little boy or girl grows up and steals your identity
You’ll have to stop and remember just who you used to be.

Mother To Mother
Mother to daughter, mother to mother
A greater love, there is no other.
You looked towards me for your guidance and my love
But this was given to both of us
From the lord up above.
I protected and sheltered you the best that I could.
And you followed the same road that we all take
We did not stop or hesitate.
A mother is not one who just gives birth
But one who shows her worth.
I was her mother, she was my daughter
Everything according to GODS order.
I raised mine, she raised her own.
But the love we had was always shown.
She was like the sun bringing light into this world
For she was my little girl.
She was like the sun radiating beauty from
The inside out, of that I have no doubt.
As the sun brings a smile to your face
And leaves you with a glow inside.
She could do this, and that’s no lie.
She created life, and loved them with such tender care
And the joys and sorrows, with them she’d share.
She loved and honored her children in every way she could
And raised them the way a mother should.
She was closer to me, more than anyone could ever know
And put in me a strength that would grow.
When it was the time for the LORD to take her away
And I’m sure that she wanted to stay.
She gave her soul to our lord above
But left us with an enduring love.
So to my daughter I say to you, I loved you at your birth
And I loved you till the end, for you was
not only my daughter, but my friend.
mother to mother, I thank you with all my heart and soul
For you left me with beautiful children for me to hold.

Im The Girl
Ive got a memory
A thousand years old
And I know secrets
Ive never been told
And Ive got jewels
I havent found
And theyll return me
To the ground
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
And Im a siren
Ill wreck you on my shores
And Im godiva
Ill call you back for more
And Im medusa
And Im your favourite doll
And Im a georgia okeefe
Hanging on your wall
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter before
And I remember being born just sound and light
And sound and light and light
And I remember the first time, skin on skin in the arms
In the arms of the night
Well how many times have we looked up into the starry skies
And how many times have we felt the passion rise
Every ruby-lipped girl baby, old lady, squaw junkie, girl after girl after girl
Every muse, whore, good witch, princess, back arching, year after year after year
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
Before.

You Think I Don' t Remember
You think I don' t remember, the night it started
Well I do
I ran away, because my heart was breaking
I left a note you never found
Of course you wouldn' t
You were never there
You left it up to your oldest daughter
To be the mother
Ya that turned out great
Look at us now
I haven' t changed much my heart is still breaking
And I am still without a mother
You think I don' t remember the first time it happened
The first lesson you gave me (as you would always call them)
We weren' t all alone
He was there, that person you married, just for money
Another smart move
He' s the one that showed you and taught you how to leave no marks
For that first time went all so wrong and you left too many marks
But I said no words
Because you' re my mother
Now all these years latter
You are the one that doesn' t understand why
I don' t say I Love You
When I am now raising your kids
When I am only a kid my self
I know how I have doing it for a while
But its time for me to retire
For you to start being my mother
And me a young adult
You think I don' t remember
The first
The second
The fifth
The day to day
You think I don' t remember
The ones I have taken for my brother
The one that happen this morning
Because you think I am a whore
For getting taken advantage of
You dont know half of what he did to me
no one does or ever will
You don' t see what I see in my dreams
And you arent drowning in the tears I cant cry
You think I don' t remember mom
But I do, I remember

I Rememer, .
I Remember, ..
I Remember, seeing cops take you away.
I Remember, it was just the 3 of us.
I Remember, going to see you.
I Remember, talking to you ALL the time.
I Remember, telling you ' I love you.'
I Remember saying, ' Daddy, i miss you.'
I Remember, when you packed your bags.
I Remember you, holding your new born child.
I Remember, when you left me.
I Remember when, i told you i hated you.
I Remember, when i met HIM.
I Remember, when HE called me HIS daughter.
I Remember, HE took your place.
I Remember when, I told HIM ' Dad, i love you.'
I Remember now, im not YOUR daughter, ..
IM HIS.

When A Mother Cries
When a mother cries,
Her tears stab at her daughter’s heart
As they plummet to the floor
When a mother cries
Her daughter cries too
She cries because she does not know what is wrong
She cries because she can’t get rid of her mother’s pain
She cries most of all because she loves her mother
When a daughter cries because her mother cries
Her mother cries more
She cries because her pain has hurt her daughter
She cries because she does not want to see her daughter cry because of her
She cries most of all,
Because she loves her daughter
Once the tears have ceased however,
What remains is love
The love forever shared between a mother and a daughter

Mother and Daughter Love
Mother and daughter love can be so fun...
A mother should love her daughter at all time
A mother have connection with her daughter
A daughter should love there mother with in and with out
A daughter should talk to her about anything with each other
A mother and daughter should love each other
That what some people call mother and daughter love.....

Daughter's Gone, Daughter's Gone
Daughter's gone, daughter's gone,
Still my memories linger on;
All those moments through the years
Fraught with anguish, doubts and fears.
Yes, she left before her time,
Changing patterns with life's rhyme;
Left our nest, in love, unschooled
And I judged her sadly fooled.
Seventeen's a fright-filled age,
With emotions on rampage;
There she left, forevermore,
Left the welcome of our door.
Now, she's gone and wedded, schooled,
Leaving me completely fooled.
Though she left before her time,
She's in cadence with life's rhyme.
Now, there's glitter in my tears
And I laugh right through my fears;
Still my memories linger on-
Daughter's gone-Daughter's gone.

she cries because she cannot rid her mother of the pain

Mother And Daughter...
Mother and daughter,
Are very close,
They are best friends,
And can be enemy's sometimes,
They laugh and cry,
Call each other names,
And mess around,
And there still as close as ever,
Nothing will ruin their mother and daughter relationship,
Not even boys,
They may keep secrets,
From one another, but there still there,
to care and help,
their still mother and daughter.

Father Daughter Moments
My daughter said something the other day
We were sitting on the front steps, talking
Someone wanted to enter the building, she stood up and said 'we're just having a father daughter moment'
My daughter is still young, only 27
And hearing her say that, my heart swelled with pride
She still wants to have moments with her father
My adult daughter still needed me
So much is said about the mother-daughter bond
But there's an even stronger bond between a father and a daughter
No matter how old she is, she's still daddy's little girl
And he always wants to be there for her
Father daughter moments last a lifetime
From playground accidents to a broken heart
You do your best to help her pain go away
Because when she's in pain, you are too

The Daughter Yet Met
sits he a pondering
the years fate has dealt
knowing in his heart there be
a daughter
yet met
mother’s have their plans
bound in unvoiced intentions
reasons in her eyes
he did not see,
needs,
till a future was to be conceived
sits he a pondering
the few words she had spoken,
a puzzle solved after
their last kiss
still, it was her test
the answer be
a daughter
yet met
long red hair has she
like mother’s no doubt,
a wicked smile
a haunting laugh
holding, she the gate keeper,
her mother’s future cast
sits he pondering
does she know of him
a father’s love does she feel,
but even more,
will one day they move
this precious stone
weighing on his heart,
it be the daughter
yet met

Rupa
I had heard her name whispered,
Among ladies of good 'culture',
In hushed tones it was said....
She was of easy morale! ! !
Often at social do's, She would be spite upon.
Away from all these, I wondered what she longed for?
Leaving alone a family of three, Husband, daughter and son of eight,
How could a mother set herself free?
At daybreak, didnt her heart ache, to see her baby's face?
Men may be from Mars, And a wife may get tired,
But a mother? Didnt her heart bleed,
At evenings, whenever she missed her daughter?
Oblivious to my musings, I heard she lives
In solitary confinement.
Away from prying eyes,
Nestled in her mothers care, with the love-child she had, by her lover!
Her lover, a man younger in years, had finally left her
.Its said, inspite of her husbands entreaties,
She had left, her home and children,
Privileges of a blessed life, she had forsaken............
But why? Why does a woman choose to defy?
Known to be a gentile woman, And yet today she is despised!
Does it ever cross her mind,
At what cost and why, did she buy this ignominy?
Happiness, future, power, positionShe left it all behind! ! ! !
I fail to gather, how and why Did she decide,
To throw it all awayFor a whimsical fanciful fly?
Unbeknown to her, I try to findThe frailities of a human-life,
That often tends to put us on our worst side.
But is it worth a try?
Is she happy, at peace with her love-child?
And the son-daughter she left behind?
They say for them she has all but died!
Will they ever understand, forgive her intrigue?
What she wanted and what she has, I know not,
Having never met her, i can hardly justify.
But Rupa, I do think of you, And of your travails too.
At times when I am at the end of my patience,
I close my eyes and remember you.
I have chosen silence, so have you.
And remain ignoramus, no matter whats said by who.

Daughter of Africa
Daughter of Africa
You are walking now
And tread the path
Away from me
Daughter of Africa
You are touching now
While my body is
Away from you
Daughter of Africa
You are moist now
Not knowing the stranger
Who enters you
Daughter of Africa
You sleep now
While my heart
Yearns for you
Daughter of Africa
You are dieing now
And you finally remember
Me
Who cried for you.

Daughter of my womb
Daughter of my womb
You've stabbed my heart so bad
You've killed the bearer of your life
Daughter of my womb am dying
My smile is but a frown
I have no idea whom I will crown
As the daughter of your womb
For you've sent them all to the tomb
My wrinkled hands needed a tender one
My closing eye libs needed to see before they are gone
The seed of the seed of my womb are no more
Daughter of my womb, you've killed the daughters of your womb
The medicine man in his robes
Administered the wrong root for a drug
Your womb is empty I have nothing to wait for
Why didn't you tell me of your planned atrocities before?
Daughter of my womb
Daughter of my womb
You've stabbed my heart so bad
You've killed the bearer of your womb
You've sent your seed to the tomb
You've dragged the generation of your womb
Daughter of my womb, you've killed us.

Daughter
9 months i carried you
An 9 months i waited for you
9 months later
With 6 hours of labor
Here you are
So cute an so small
My little girl you are
3 years i held you
In my arms you were
In fear and tears
Were you wrapped safely in my arms
Now nearly 4 years later i lose you
My little girl taken away
You were tortured an beaten
left alone to die
You came of a crime
An i didnt love you any less
You changed my life so much
An as fast as you came
You left me so soon
I spend my days down
Crying every minute without you
When i should be holding you
Showing that i love you
That i will always be there
But instead i cry an cry
Placing flowers on a grave for you
My daughter you were made
My daughter you became
My daughter you are
Whether here or far away
My daughter you will always be
