Burning Desire
Will you love me now as you did before
in your youthful days?
Can you will yourself back to them
and show me all the ways
you would shower me with your love
and never let me go?
Or are they forgotten now, my love?
Is there just the afterglow?
Youthful days and youthful ways
are intoxicating fire.
All you have inside of you
is uncontrollable desire.
You know nothing else.
You'd rather not.
You think to yourself
'My blood runs hot.'

or is that just a dream?

From A Day To A Few
after a day of heartbreak
proving her love regardless
she knows her heart weak
and all only for him
but it happens again
and instead of shedding a tear
she draws strength from the pain
and hides her fear
as times passes
stronger she grows
closing her heart
not letting her emotions show
days turn into nights
Artemis guiding her dreams
nights fades into days
Apollo hiding her screams
then out of the blue
he calls her name
as if nothing has changed

Of the Common Era
Play Nero, play upon the lyre
While Rome Is fed into the fire
At the Circus near the Palatine
in some shops began the fire
You looked on impassively
And played upon your lyre
You sang about” The Sack of Troy”
The Trojans funeral pyre
While portions of your palace
Were themselves consumed by fire
Three Quarters of the city gone
The fire raged for days
Casualties kept mounting
as the Romans fought the flames.
You blamed the Christians for the deed
The lions lunched for days

Nights And Days
My night is long, the goal is full,
It concerns me to act in absolute security.
I must care and something is like your body,
The way of a race so sudden.
The upper storey of my house is most high
In the sky, that I can never understand.
So suddenly the night is overcome by day,
Daylight reassures me of politeness,
Heights of such greatness on this storey
Are fairly strong compared to some towers,
But the day is shorter than we can tell.
The telling sky will shine so brightly.
The days and nights revolve around my head,
And the mustard in my food rejects me,
As the allergy is strong,
As the days are strong with fever
Of suffering and pain of pangs I am swept by;
The days and nights know nothing of my life.
Surely the night hands over to the day,
And then the day hands over to the night
For our brain and heart to recognise,
For our religion to congratulate us.

Dont remember much about my baby days,
But I been told
We used to live on willow near the garden district
Next to the sugar bowl
Momma used to wheel me past an ice cream wagon
One side for white and one side for colored
I remember trash cans floatin down canal street
It rained every day one summer
Momma used to take me to audubon park
Show me the ways of the world
She said, here comes a white boy, there goes a black one,
That ones an octoroon
This little cookie heres a macaroon, that big round things
A red balloon
And the paper down heres called the picayune
And heres a new orleans tune
In 1948 my daddy came to the city
Told the people that theyd won the war
Maybe theyd heard it, maybe not
Probably theyd heard it and just forgot
cause they built him a platform there in jackson square
And the people came to hear him from everywhere
They started to party and they partied some more
cause new orleans had won the war
