Out-There

morning
camel-herders
money-changers
things from outer-space

hullabaloo and shindig
jostling at the gates

sense I've raised one eyelid
snapped shut
but it's too late

somehow reach the bathroom
reflect on my disguise

I'm shower-head and toothpaste
and soap gets in their eyes

Utter Space

I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need a change of pace thats why I walk with you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
Ive had a change of heart Im tired of being the best
I need another part to make an educated guess
And help me pass the test
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space
I come from outer space at least I think I do
I need another face I need one just like you
Its a change up-left-one-two
In outer space
In outer space
In outer space

Slime Creatures From Outer Space

Things just havent been the same
Since the flying saucer came
Now the aliens are on the loose
Well, we tried to hold em back
Tried to ward off their attack
But our atom bombs were just no use
They were ugly, they were mean
Biggest heads I ever seen
They made everybody scream and shout
First they leveled tokyo
Then new york was next to go
Boy I really wish theyd cut it out
They wasted everybody on my block
There goes the neighborhood
Theyll zap you with their death ray eyes
And blow you up real good
Run for your lives
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theyre not very nice to the human race
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theres more comin every day
And they just wont go away
Now theyre reproducing in the sewers
They got slimy lizard skin
And an evil lookin grin
And they sure could use some manicures
They got hands all covered with fungus
They got eyes like some kinda bug
I sure hope they dont come in here
I just shampooed the rug
Run for your lives
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theyre really makin a mess of this place.
(slime creatures)
(slime creatures)
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theyll rip your head off just for fun
Theyll paralyze your mind
Theyre wearin out their welcome
I dont think I like their kind
Theyll suck your brain out through a straw
You just cant trust those guys
So hide the children, lock the doors
And always watch the skies
Look out, here come the
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theyre an intergalactic disgrace
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
I wish theyd just get outta my face
(slime creatures from outer space)
(slime creatures from outer space)
Theyre makin a big fat mess of this place
(slime creatures)
(slime creatures)
Oh, where did they come from?
What do they want from us?
Who do they think they are?
(slime creatures, slime creatures)
Why dont they leave me alone?
(slime creatures, slime creatures.)
Theyre really getting on my nerves

I’ll leave the breathings below the horizon (Nafaka)

Let them be a border of life
The sky is an encircled space
Ocasionally opening the cages of existence
For a hungry restlessness
To run away

I’ll leave the words cut
within the circles of waiting
To be a heritage of life
Like a thunder made of silence
I’ll be burned by passion
Shut the gates of sense
Open the gates of love

My Silent Witness

His car keys are missing. The spare
was lost some years ago,

He clears counters, opens drawers,
slams them shut, checks all pockets,
the hamper too,

Looks accusingly at me,
as if I were the one who drove home
last night.
Leaning on his horn, he rode the shoulder
like a maniac, had me frantic with distress.

I go for my Saturday morning walk, taking the dog,
avoiding his fury,

Some kind of order has been restored,
the shower is going, his place of refuge,
his regular golf game cancelled, I guess.

I slather the key chain with peanut butter,
take Fetch into the bathroom, tell Fetch to sit
and stay, and I join my husband in the shower.

Give Me Some Truth

I'm sick & tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
I've had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied son-of-tricky-dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me with just a bundle of hope
It's money for dope
Money for rope
No short-haired, yellow-bellied son-of-tricky-dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me with just a bucket of soap
It's money for dope
Money for rope
I'm sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mother's little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
I've had enough of watching scenes
With schizophrenic, egocentric, paranoiac prima donnas
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
No short-haired, yellow-bellied son-of-tricky-dicky's
Gonna mother hubbard soft soap me with just a bucket of soap
It's money for dope
Money for rope

Bathroom Barber

I'm not a bathroom barber I've learned
gave myself a hair cut with my own two hands.
When all of a sudden I heard a loud noise
which took my mind off what hair to cut I had.

Then SNIP, it went off my head!
a large patch bald of hair is missing.
The dog looked at me puzzled and barked
and the cat raised her back and was hissing!

I must admit I looked a fright
with that large patch of missing hair.
When I got up nerve to look in the mirror
I even gave myself a scare!

I was only trying to save a buck
and give myself what looked to be so easy.
But with this patch of hair now missing
my head feels a bit more breezy.

I guess I'll have to spend the money
go to someone, where to them it isn't harder.
And never again will I pretend, to be a Bathroom Barber!

Sometime In The Morning

Words and music by
Gerry goffin and carole king
Sometime in the morning
A simple thought may occur to you,
And you hold her,
And tell her all the things you never told her.
Your love has shown me things
I never thought I could see;
I didnt know
It could be done so easily.
Now I know
Youre where it is for me.
Sometime in the evening
Youre sitting there by the fireside
And shell touch you
And youll realize how much you never knew before,
How much you couldnt see.
You didnt know
It could be done so easily
Now you know
Shes all a girl could be.
Now in her childlike eyes
You see the beauty there
You know it was always there
And you need no longer wear a disguise.
Sometime in the morning
Youll just reach out and she will be there,
Close as the summer air.
Sometime in the morning she will be there.

The Man Who Climbs The Highest Pole Of The Bridge...

at the highest bridge on the city of
Cebu a man in his twenties
climbs the pole and sits there overlooking
the city
the City is in panic
for he must be saved
his name is taken: Juan
Molina,32 years old,
a thief, jobless, and without
any known relatives
and he is so hungry
and it is so hot at the top
and he is coming down
if there is something to
eat

they thought he is going to jump
and kill himself

which is not the fact of the case
he simply wants to see
the whole damned city
of leaders who cannot understand
that he too needs work
to have money to buy something to
eat to pay for the rent of his boarding space,
his bills, and his toothpaste
and soap

all the while the city is angry
this man must be sent to prison
we are so disturbed
and he creates the massive
confusion

sad, sad city.
suicidal masses
luxurious lifestyles of the rich and
the famous elite

most of the poor and the
lost do not ask anymore where is God?

'Why do my eyes prop? '
'Probably going to give money to someone,

why your eyes so sore. but he is mistaken,
'I want to check the money,

I pretended not to know,

The Good Things

Demo version, from mayor of simpleton single.
Released in 1989.
Four-track recording.
Though your heart desires the things that money can buy
Emptiness lies through the glass, I shield your eyes
Theres nothing out there for you, my dear
Theres nothing out there for you
Let me tell you about the good things
The good things
I know your head is full of big ideas
You aint missing anything, have no fear
I have touched the grass so green on the other side
It will grieve you and deceive you with disguise
Theres nothing out there for you, my dear
Theres nothing out there for you
Let me tell you about the good things
The good things
I know you pine for things you see in magazines
That world brings heartache, now its not real, believe me
Remember all of those good things
You know you cant buy all those good things

Showing The True Color

when i wake up this early morning
she was not already beside me.

i do not want to rise and fold the blanket
and go somewhere else.

or read the papers, or sip coffee, there is
this laziness that infects my bones, a disease

of meaning, another slow day, the routine is
eating me, and i behave

in a manner that i am like a lame duck being
aimed at by all the bystanders

i am opening my eyes, and the ceiling is off
white, it has been that way ever since i got married,

why did i leave it that way? i have the money to have
it painted pure white, like a very clean slate where

i can write what i must mean, but i didn't, i let things
that way they are from the beginning, and perhaps

they will still be at the end. This is what i do next,
always always i do this: i rise from my bed, go to my

circular mirror and look at my face, they also do it,
and then i touch my cheeks and chin, feeling the roughness

of the beard, how they have grown long and so untidy,
the razor is ready, and the soap and water, but this time

i will do what i cannot do the other days of my life,
i will not trim the unruly ones, i will not wash my face,

i may slap myself, and then i give the mirror the grin
of the man that is used to all these doubts and shame.

i will tell it, i am now myself. And then i will the bathroom
another tune for my whistle, nobody, nobody but me.

They've Put A Brassiere On A Camel

They've put a brassiere on a camel,
She wasn't dressed proper, you know.
They've put a brassiere on a camel,
So that her humps wouldn't show.
And they're making other respectable plans,
They're even even insisting the pigs should wear pants,
They'll dress up the ducks if we give them the chance
Since they've put a brassiere on a camel.
They've put a brassiere on a camel,
They claim she's more decent that way.
They've put a brassiere on a camel,
The camel had nothing to say.
They squeezed her into it, i'll never know how,
They say that she looks more respectable now,
Lord knows what they've got in mind for the cow,
Since they've put a brassiere on a camel.

New Day

What we gon' do right now is go back, way back
Bring in the groove
I wanna dedicate this to those who never made it
>From kindergarten to the 12th I never graduated
Yo but college wasn't for some of us
So we joined the service
I seen a kid get murdered in Nam listening to Elvis
But on the out looking in
Things stay the same
But at the same vein
Looking out the whole world's changed
So keep your head up
Don't get caught up in the fast bucks
And find your mom crying while your lying in a black tux
Trust me
We don't need no education says a young man
Sitting in class (sitting in class)
School is out 3 o'clock on the dot
He had beef with some kids and he got shot, oh Lord
Turn on the television
I'm watching Martin Luther King who had a dream, oh
So take this dream and apply it to your life
Even though we know the ghetto's rough
But we got to
1 - Keep your head up
(Uh keep your head up)
Cause a new day will come
(Uh-huh, uh-huh)
And look towards the sun
(Look towards the sun)
Even when the darkness shall come
(Ooh) It's real son
(Ooh) To my people living Life it's real son
I turn the page
What's the news today
People getting fired, walking on a wire
Looting on the streets cause the kid's gotta eat
Oh, oh turn around and look at the hour glass
I gotta get it straight
Before it's too late
Cause I don't wanna be behind that gates
Keep your head up
(Uh keep your head up)
Cause a new day will come
(Uh-huh, uh-huh)
And look towards the sun
Even when the darkness shall come
2 - All my people in the back
Mama, mama
You know you raised me with no father figure
(Didn't ya)
I wanna take this time to thank you
For giving me life, oh yeah
Mama, mama
You know you raised me with no father figure
(Didn't ya)
I wanna take this time to thank you
Even though I'm doing Life
Alright
(Ooh) It's real son, alright
(Ooh) Can't flee
(Ooh)All my people doing time
(Ooh)People in the back playing cards
(Ooh)Don't lose your money yeah
Yeah tell them don't lose your money, c'mon, c'mon
Repeat 1
Repeat 2
(Ooh) For my people doing time (alright)
(Ooh) For my people doing time (alright)

Upon Your Stunned And Too Late Face

It is too late to reverse,
A dispersing adversity.
It's too late to apologize,
For those conscious mistakes made.

Those opportunities to do this were given.
Now from the heavens,
Spiritual warriors descend.
And nothing on Earth can defend against them.

It is too late to reverse,
A dispersing adversity.
Or come to perceive...
The Almighty is nothing more,
Than a myth to be deceived.

You will know it's too late...
When the look of awe and shock is felt,
Upon your stunned and too late face!
Coming soon from outer space near you.

The Fierceness Of Memories...

the fierceness of a a memory is carried by the colored flags of
this island

it should have been a celebration but it is not

the wind is strong in this low season
and the waves are eating too much of the white sands

i can sense your anger, but i am walking away like a man without thoughts

i have accepted all these anger like the way i am walking away from
everything

i sit upon a chair i take a number on that early morning
when chairs are all empty when stores are closed

the money changers have not opened yet
and i wait and i go through these process of surfing without something

definite, there are no questions in my mind
there is only my presence to myself

i am bound, i know, i am helpless
ly still bound to you, and when love comes i close my eyes thinking

about your face and body, and when i burst into a scream
i take the composure of decency by not mentioning even the syllable of your name

it is still respect for love despite its cruelty to me.

Who In This World Truly Knows?

Pushing the moth right into the flame.
Watching it die.
Should that make me cry?
Becoming of the poetically insane.
Something gone wrong with this man's brain.
A nut that just won't shut up.
Hey is that a bad thing?
Or is it a plus?
Question straight from the just because.
Ask many and maybe a few will be answered.
It's still not enough.
I got a million more where they came from.
Why because I still feel the need to learn.
It's like a urning of another books page turning.
Have I reach the end yet?
If so it's on to next.
Another crumbled paper.
Maybe I should attack this one with lazers.
Turning up the phasers.
The mental game changers.
I seek passage.
Will you let me through?
God damn you
Drinking my mid evil tonic with my eyes closed.
Hey now I'm hallucinating
Look over there that womens wearing no cloths.
Eh maybe that's the way it suppose to be.
Who in this world truly knows?

Morning mirror

came squeezed out of the toothpaste tube
and the shower-head unblinking
said
as though this was the norm
suppose
with an accent
of a much more superior hose
you'll expect
everything to be like any other day
and tears came
a solitary drip
then two
and a coagulation of old shampoo
leaned across in vain
and in the mirror
hints that life was
maybe just a game
