Who has said that there is a life after ending love
Who has said that i ever could live after the day that you've gone
Your love has took with it every thing that one day was only mine
You laugh, your smile, those alluring eyes
All those were my life, took away my life
Everything that i had disappeared at once

The Day I Died
You were there when I died,
As I remembered seeing your face
You looked at me, in such disbelief
Uttering oh death, why such a waste.
When you said goodbye, I was there
Your eyes were full of tears
How sad I felt, for you and not myself
Wishing your sorrow would just disappear.
I cried, but you never saw it
The tears came down my cheeks
How I wished that I, was at your side,
As without you, I am so very weak.
And I was there when you walked away
Even though you knew that I was gone
I then saw the sorrow, in your tomorrow
Only if again we both were as one.
I was there when you walked out the door
I tried to comfort you, but you never heard me speak
So sadly you walked away, till our judgment day
And then once again, your soul I will seek.
I wonder now what will become of you
And also what will become of me
Will you live in our past, pretending it still did last
Or will you set my life and our memory free.

Harder Cards
Well, a hammer fell down on a .44 primer
And that was one less problem in South Carolina tonight
Wrong or right.
She just looked to me as she finished her tale
The blank expression went another pale shade of gray
There was nothing to say.
In the shadows of her face I saw the scars
That you get when you live where love is hard
And she said,
"Don't you sit and judge me from some high and mighty seat."
"Don't you shrug it off until you've walked a mile in my bare feet."

With harder cards than yours in life to play."
Well, I put the cuffs on her and sat her in the car
Walked inside, he was layin' on the floor stone dead
Been shot in the head.
There were whiskey bottles and dope by the chair
A starving baby with nothing to wear but tears
So the picture was clear.
He had finally pushed her way across the line
And the badge I wore was losing all its shine

How Can I Be?
How can I be something I'm not?
How can I be what I thought you forgot?
The years have taken their toll on me.
How can I be how you remember me?
How can I be completely yours?
The years have closed some of those doors
that were open wide and slowly did close.
But it never sealed completely for love always goes
and frees itself from ending too soon.
For you look at the stars. You look at the moon
and you feel that love inside.
Then you realize that it never died.
