It's A Lonesome Desert At Night

I stood in a phone booth
In the middle of the desert
And listened to it ring,
It sounded like some sad old song
I think I used to know how to sing -
I heard Spanish horns
Wailing in the distant air,
A longing upon the Western wind
Rolling in from somewhere, far beyond here, or there -
Rain started down
As hypnotically I picked up the phone,
I heard lightning crackle through the line
And thunder seductively groan -
A voice in the wind
Blew hot and low
Throwing desperate dust into the fading sky,
While shadows in the flashes and trembles through the ground
Gave clouds cause to cry and cry -

I wanted so to call Someone...
But, I didn't know how; and
It really wouldn't have mattered anyway,
For I had no quarters...
Nor any good words left to say -
Upon the desert floor the next morn
I awoke, cold and alone
Covered in both dust and dew,
The phone booth and storm were gone...
But the sky remains forever, the deepest shade of pure blue.

CP- To Mader

So one night it was dark and I couldn’t see,
I picked up my phone no one to disagree.
I was in possession of a beautiful phone,
Even though the phone was of a girlie tone.
I started checking my message to find out,
That maybe this isn’t my phone – hmm doubt.
But could this be the phone of my eye candy,
Maybe she could be unmarried and change her name to Sandy.
Hmm the possibilities of the owner of the stolen phone,
Oh goodness maybe I should watch my tone.
I return the untouchable phone back to her,
“I thought it was my phone” I said in transfer.
Oh the purple phone that was like mine,
Oh purple phone oh purple phone I let out a sigh….

Dust In The Wind

Music : Kerry Livgren
Lyrics: Kerry Livgren
I close my eyes
Only for a moment and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now, Don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind

The Storm

The clouds turned to gray
The air turned to cold
And I knew by that day
Some evil would unfold.
It arrived without a warning
Along with the pounding rain
And it was gone by the morning
As violently as it came.
But for that night I lived in terror
That night I lived in fright
With every sound I heard
With every flash of light.
Violently came the wind
Terrorizing with no form
Then came the thunder and lightning,
Arriving, was the storm.
Many trees I saw bent
Then God clapped his mighty hand
While many trees were refusing to fall,
But then, a tree didn't stand.
Rushing came the wind
Pounding came the rain
Crashing came the thunder
Quickly, came my pain.
Underneath my bed I hid
From the terror of the storm
And in pain and terror I cried
In horror and pain I moaned.
That night I lived in terror
That night I lived in fright
With every sound I heard
With every flash of light.
And the rain just kept falling
More tears I began to weep
For the wind just kept calling,
Then that night; I fell asleep.
Then morning she finally came
I awoke to the sound of peace and birds
The sound of thunder and rain was gone
Which had awoke my sleeping world.
Then outside towards the sky I stared,
To the clouds God he did call
I saw Gods hand moving the wind
Commanding the rain not to fall.
Then the sun began to shine
So on my knees I fell to pray
Then again, I began to cry
Thanking God; the storm had went away.

If The Phone Doesnt Ring Its Me

If the phone doesnt ring its me
1985
The time spent writing about the intensity involved in trying to
Keep love together is short; but the endless research can kill you.
There are oceans of feelings between us
Currents that take us and sweep us away
Thats why we seldom have seen us
In the light of a cold hard day
Lots of new friends with the same old answers
Open your eyes
You might see
If our lives were that simple
Wed live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
If the phone doesnt ring
Youll know that its me
Ill be out in the eye of the storm
If the phone doesnt ring
You know that Ill be
Where someone can make me feel warm
Its too bad we cant turn
And live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
Ive had good days and bad days
And goin half mad days
I try to let go but youre still on my mind
Ive lost all the old ways
Im searchin for new plays
Puttin it all on the line
Lots of new friends with the same old problems
Open your eyes you might see
If our lives were that simple
Wed live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
If the phone doesnt ring
Youll know that its me
Ill be out in the eye of the storm
If the phone doesnt ring
You know that Ill be
Where someone can make me feel warm
Its too bad we cant turn
And live in the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
Its me, its me
If it takes all the future
Well live through the past
If the phone doesnt ring
Its me

Mr. Midnight

Rain on the roof and time on my hands
It sure seemed quit out there in radio land
They call me at the all-night station
Make their special dedications
And i do my best to play their request
When it's a desperate situation
This was a desperate situation
[chorus:]
I'm mr. midnight alone and blue
The brokenhearted call me up
When they don't know what else to do
Every song is a reminder of the love that they once knew
I'm mr. midnight can i play a song for you
"caller on the line could you please hold on?"
I recognized her voice the minute i picked up the phone
Should i tell her that it's me or leave it at a memory
Haven't been myself since the day she left
And i'm never gonna be
I'm forever gonna be
[repeat chorus]
Imagine my surprise when she spoke my name
She said, "could you tell him that i love him and i wish things could be the same."
Then a voice i never knew
Said, "honey, who you talking to?"
[repeat chorus]

I Just Didn't Love You

For some Strange reason
I thought you loved me
I guess i was wrong
I thought i loved you
But i loved The song
The song that played when we were together
The song that i wish could last forever
That song was my little secret
I loved that song, i wish could keep it
I promised myself that i wouldn't fall
and i didn't
I just thought i had it all
All i really had was the song
I did have you,
but it turned out you didn't belong
There really isn't any happy endings
I thought it was possible, but who was i kidding
Me and you, we were just pretending
We use to talk on the phone all night
We use to say i love you, but it never felt right
I did love it when we were together
but like they say, nothing lasts forever
I loved how we could talk about everything that's anything
I love how i use to feel when i heard the phone ring
I loved how when i was upset, you always knew exactly what to do
But for some strange reason, i just didn't love you
Our false love is dead
and i realized that song was all in my head

A Rain To Remember!

Rain lashed out with lightning and thunder!
For every lightning phone also rang without fail!
It continued till I switched off light and went to bed!

Next day morning some death news due to lightning came!
Storm has dissipated but rain lashed now and then;
It's raining time nothing can stop it from falling!

Today there is complete silence prevailing!
Night is cold and wind has stopped after evening
Yet rain warning is given and is expected for 24 hours!

The summer drought without rain is causing so heavy rain now!
Farming fields without rain crops are waiting for rain
A week's rain at least will make it okay now!

When there is no rain we cry for it and when it is there we don't want
Whether we say this or that rain will do the best it can when it comes!

Winter Of Discontent

The phone rang a day before Christmas a message I knew would come
but would not like to hear. Mother had died and there was a great haste
now before the festive season. Yet in my despair I picked up the phone
and rang her number in the hope it had all been a dreadful mistake…any
minute now she will answer be glad to hear my voice; and she would tell
me I’m susceptible to cold and remember to wear a scarf.
Fully awake I rushed to the airport, sorry fully booked till after Christmas.
“Please if there is a cancellation ring me.” The phone didn’t ring.
When I finally got there snow had covered flowers and her name was not
yet carved on a stone. This emptiness, this hole in my heart, I knew it had
to happen one day, but not now not ever. At her home they were busy
dividing her things. No I didn’t want anything only her reading glasses,
she had thought me how to read. A life had ended and for the first time in
my life I knew how it felt like to be alone under a cold Nordic sky.

The Phone Call

Sitting alone at home one day, I decided to
call a loved one who lived far away.
As I picked up the phone
I heard a voice on the other side say.
I missed you son, for it seems
that you have strayed.
Who is this? Who are you?
Why do you call me son? I don’t know you?
How can you not know me? You pray to me every day.
And in your prayers you always say:
My father I am not worthy to receive you.
But! I believe in you.
So I ask of you from my heart
To protect all my family members
Both near and far.
This is one phone call that I do not often make
But I do it now, while you are awake.
I need you to spread my word
So that in this era my voice can be heard.
I need their attention, for there is so much
Yet to do, for this world is to be saved
And that’s why I come to you.
Mankind is destroying all that I have done
And if they continue they’ll never see the sun.
How many signs must I give
in order for them to begin to live.
I have shown them tsunamis, earthquakes
Hurricanes and such.
How much more? isn’t this enough!
The voices of the people drowning out
All the other sounds, letting the politicians
Know That peace can be found.

My words will always prevail
Seek and you will not fail.

Renda Writer - The Other Line

I saw a man
Fishing
Off the side of the pier

Fishing for a fish
And then...
His cell phone rang

He picked it up
And began talking

Cell phone in one hand
Fishing pole in the other

And then...
The tip of his pole
Started bending

He got a bite

And then...

He said
To the person on the phone

'Let me call you back,
I've got someone on the other line'

I Hate My Phone

Have you ever had a phone?
That you couldn’t stand?
If you have, you are not alone.
My phone doesn’t like to follow my command!

My phone hates me!
I hate it!
I would love to throw it in the sea,
But, my life would be gone I have to admit!

I hate my phone!
What can I do?
If only another one I could own.
Another phone I need, but it should be new.

If I get a new phone it will need,
A camera that pictures and video it takes,
Unlimited texting is what we agreed.
I have no time for mistakes!

Also, I would need free long distance,
In case there is someone I want to call that is not where I am,
No, I don’t need any assistance.
For my new phone, all I have to say is DANG!

My new phone will be the envy of everyone,
Everyone will want mine,
To bad that they don’t get it, I’m the only one,
There is no need to whine!

Go Ocean, Go Ocean, Go Ocean!
That’s what they’ll be saying!
I and my phone will be all the rage and commotion!
Everyone will be around me and no, nobody will be playing!

I hate my phone,
I need a new one,
I know I’m not alone,
To have the greatest and newest phone would be fun!

Go Ocean, Go Ocean, Go Ocean! ! ! !
I still hate my phone!
Ha, this poem is long because of a motion!
Ha, I got many problems, luckily I’m not alone!

I Hate My Phone! ! !

Georgie And Her Rival

Georgie grew to hate her name
It sounded like a tiny man
And the one she had said "I can't see you, but I'll call you
whenever I can"
Sometimes the phone would ring, when she was half-asleep
A voice would drag her down with its suggestions
Though she often felt cheated, she never felt cheap
CHORUS
Well heaven knows what fills the heart and makes you feel so
alive
It's impossible to tear apart
Georgie and her rival
It was half-past February
And he hadn't called since New Year's Day
Maybe he'd found another woman to say those words no chapel girl
should say
Her mother would phone and always keep talking
She'd try to be polite, making faces
But somewhere in the back of her mind, her rival was stalking
CHORUS
Her rival would always wait till the eighth or ninth bell
He'd be desperate anyway and drunk as well
She always liked to hurt him to prove he was prepared
To love her anyway that she wanted
So she could tell which she preferred
He sat up with his address book trying to think what mood he's in
His finger traced past Georgie's name to someone who needed less
persuading
He didn't hear through her disguise he didn't leave her in a rush
Just like the promise that he left on her machine
That almost made her blush
The radio plays a lover's symphony
"The number you have dialed has been re-directed"
Now she puts him on the speaker-phone
Whenever she has company
CHORUS

Phone Booth

The far end of this wire
Will hopefully be
Right where you put your head
To sleep

My end of this wire
Will hopefully ring
And turn this cold desert night
Into a moment of spring

I claim this phone booth
In the name of love
I’ll fight anyone
Who steps anywhere near
My baby’s throne

Just hanging around
This quiet temple
Without a single coin
Without a single coin
But I’m waiting
because

She’s gonna call me now
She’s gonna call me now
She’s gonna make me the happiest
Man alive

I trust those impulses
Breakdancing electric notes
More than I trust myself
More than I trust my friends
More than I trust anyone

That silver serpent
That disappears into the ground
Is gonna bring a voice
That’s gonna break the night
Cuz it’s brighter than sunshine

This magic trick
Better work once more
And though frostbites blossom
I’m waiting
because....

Pain Of Existence Without.....

It was pain of existence without your phone calls.....
This pain was not related to time, as time moved on.....
but the pain remained, pain and more pain....
without a phone call from you........
Time started moving, but there was no phone call, , , , , ,
I was lost with the acute awareness of this great pain.....
pain and more pain......
I wish I could tell you how much your phone calls mean to me, , , , ,
what if we have not met, what if we have not seen each other
but dear your phone call is what makes me pull through my day....
your voice is a magic to me, it is music to my ears....
but dear you never called.... and the pain remains...
The pain reminds me of the wonderful times we had....
the long phone calls.... your voice, your silence, , your moans
all this was so wonderful, which meant so much to me....
but dear you never called........
come back and call me dear...... and tell me how much I mean to you
call me once my love........
I wait for your magic voice, for all wonderful things you tell me....
for all the beautiful moments over phone we had.......
I wait with great pain, pain and pain.....
Just to hear you..... or get a message from you
Your messages are my breakfast, my dinner, , , ,
I sleep thinking of you hearing you, reading you...
I wake up to read your message..........
But dear you never called you never messaged....
come back just once my love come back
I just want to tell how much I miss your voice.............

Long-distance Operator

Long-distance operator,
Place this call, its not for fun.
Long-distance operator,
Please, place this call, you know its not for fun.
I gotta get a message to my baby,
You know, shes not just anyone.
There are thousands in the phone booth,
Thousands at the gate.
There are thousands in the phone booth,
Thousands at the gate.
Evrybody wants to make a long-distance call
But you know theyre just gonna have to wait.
If a call comes from louisiana,
Please, let it ride.
If a call comes from louisiana,
Please, let it ride.
This phone booths on fire,
Its getting hot inside.
Evrybody wants to be my friend,
But nobody wants to get higher.
Evrybody wants to be my friend,
But nobody wants to get higher.

Had to phone ya
Had to phone ya just to talk to you
Had to phone ya just to tell ya I was missing you
It lifts my spirits every single time

But when you get through
It makes me smile
A-when I phone ya

Youre not alone ya know Im only just a dial away
I visualize that youre looking fine
Feels so good when you come on the line

Scared

I was fine, happy and enjoying
Till from ur number my phone started ringing
My heart then beat fast, cold felling came
Found myself in darkness, hands and leg shake
I was in dilemma, scared, dark, pale I became
I had always loved you wanted to pick da phone
As it had really been long since we talked or you called last
I was scared to pick phone, cause I remembered pain u gave me in past..

Another Rainy Night

Don't slam the door on your way out
Don't leave without saying goodbye
Another long distance night alone
You leave me wanting, always leave me wanting more
Last word today, coming home to stay?
Wouldn't that be nice, for awhile?
But now my take-out food is growing cold
And the candle's burned a hole in the floor
And I'm still waiting for the ring of the phone
CHORUS
I'm all alone
And it's another rainy night, without you
Guess I'll leave the light on for you
It's just another rainy night without you
Listen, there's a foghorn blowing from the coast tornight
Remember making love in the rain?
Strange how laughter looks like crying with no sound
Raindrops taste like tears, without the pain
I'm not much without you, can't leave if I wanted to
Maybe that's why you stay around
But tonight I'll sit here tending the fire
and pace the floor one hundred times in an hour
And check the voice-mail for a message you've called
CHORUS
Waiting by the phone, alone
And it's another rainy night without you
I know I said before
Hate the sound of the closing door
And your footseps walking away
But now my takeout food is growing cold
and the candle's burned a hole in the floor
and I'm still waiting for the ring of the phone

Wind Child

The Wind has a voice,
A sad, sweet voice
I've heard it sing
Long and beautiful
Like Wind should be,
Carrying forever

The singing Wind is rarely heard
It's quiet and soft and
Unnoticeable

I am a Wind Child
I hear the Wind as
She sings her sad, sweet song
I am a Wind Child
And I sing with the Wind
Wind Children are rare as
True Hope
Special as Love
Wind Child
Is me
