Upon The Sudden Restraint Of The Earl Of Somerset, Then Falling From Favour

Dazled thus with height of place,
Whilst our Hopes our wits Beguile,
No man marks the narrow space
'Twixt a Prison and a Smile.

Then since Fortunes favours fade,
You that in her arms do sleep,
Learn to swim and not to wade;
For the Hearts of Kings are deep.

But if Greatness be so blind,
As to trust in Towers of Air,
Let it be with Goodness lin'd,
That at least the Fall be fair.

Then though darkned you shall say,
When Friends fail and Princes frown,
Vertue is the roughest way,
But proves at night a Bed of Down.

All The Kings Horses

(unknown)
Mmm, my friends keep telling me to pull myself together
They try to cheer my up but its not gettin better
They say that time will pass and Ill love again some day
But time is standing still ever since you went away
Now, all the kings horses and all the kings men
Youll never get me back together again
cause I just fall apart each time I look at you
No, all the kings and all the kings men
Are never gonna make me smile again
How can I smile just knowin youre with somebody new? , ooh
You had my hopes so high I guess they had to tumble
And when you left my dream my world began to crumble
No woman ever found the only missing part
When you left me behind dont you know you took my heart?
Now, all the kings horses and all the kings men
Youll never get me back together again
cause I just fall apart each time I look at you, yes I do, now
All the kings and all the kings men
Youre never gonna make me smile again
How can I smile just knowin youre with somebody new? , ooh, yeah, ooh, ahh, ha
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Youll never get me back together again
cause I just fall apart each time I look at you, yes I do
I said, all the kings and all the kings men
Are never gonna make me smile again
How can I smile just knowing youre with somebody new? , yeah
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Youll never get me back together again
And I just fall apart each time

Sermon in a Churchyard

Let pious Damon take his seat,
With mincing step and languid smile,
And scatter from his 'kerchief sweet,
Sabaean odours o'er the aisle;
And spread his little jewelled hand,
And smile round all the parish beauties,
And pat his curls, and smooth his band,
Meet prelude to his saintly duties.

Let the thronged audience press and stare,
Let stifled maidens ply the fan,
Admire his doctrines, and his hair,
And whisper, "What a good young man!"
While he explains what seems most clear,
So clearly that it seems perplexed,
I'll stay and read my sermon here;
And skulls, and bones, shall be the text.

Art thou the jilted dupe of fame?
Dost thou with jealous anger pine
Whene'er she sounds some other name,
With fonder emphasis than thine?
To thee I preach; draw near; attend!
Look on these bones, thou fool, and see
Where all her scorns and favours end,
What Byron is, and thou must be.

Dost thou revere, or praise, or trust
Some clod like those that here we spurn;
Some thing that sprang like thee from dust,
And shall like thee to dust return?
Dost thou rate statesmen, heroes, wits,
At one sear leaf, or wandering feather?
Behold the black, damp narrow pits,
Where they and thou must lie together.

Dost thou beneath the smile or frown
Of some vain woman bend thy knee?
Here take thy stand, and trample down
Things that were once as fair as she.
Here rave of her ten thousand graces,
Bosom, and lip, and eye, and chin,
While, as in scorn, the fleshless faces
Of Hamiltons and Waldegraves grin.

Whate'er thy losses or thy gains,
Whate'er thy projects or thy fears,
Whate'er the joys, whate'er the pains,
That prompt thy baby smiles and tears;
Come to my school, and thou shalt learn,
In one short hour of placid thought,
A stoicism, more deep, more stern,
Than ever Zeno's porch hath taught.

The plots and feats of those that press
To seize on titles, wealth, or power,
Shall seem to thee a game of chess,
Devised to pass a tedious hour.
What matters it to him who fights
For shows of unsubstantial good,
Whether his Kings, and Queens, and Knights,
Be things of flesh, or things of wood?

We check, and take; exult, and fret;
Our plans extend, our passions rise,
Till in our ardour we forget
How worthless is the victor's prize.
Soon fades the spell, soon comes the night:
Say will it not be then the same,
Whether we played the black or white,
Whether we lost or won the game?

Dost thou among these hillocks stray,
O'er some dear idol's tomb to moan?
Know that thy foot is on the clay
Of hearts once wretched as thy own.
How many a father's anxious schemes,
How many rapturous thoughts of lovers,
How many a mother's cherished dreams,
The swelling turf before thee covers!

Here for the living, and the dead,
The weepers and the friends they weep,
Hath been ordained the same cold bed,
The same dark night, the same long sleep;
Why shouldest thou writhe, and sob, and rave
O'er those with whom thou soon must be?
Death his own sting shall cure--the grave
Shall vanquish its own victory.

Here learn that all the griefs and joys,
Which now torment, which now beguile,
Are children's hurts, and children's toys,
Scarce worthy of one bitter smile.
Here learn that pulpit, throne, and press,
Sword, sceptre, lyre, alike are frail,
That science is a blind man's guess,
And History a nurse's tale.

Here learn that glory and disgrace,
Wisdom and folly, pass away,
That mirth hath its appointed space,
That sorrow is but for a day;
That all we love, and all we hate,
That all we hope, and all we fear,
Each mood of mind, each turn of fate,
Must end in dust and silence here.

Deep Sleep

Ive been walking in a deep sleep
Sleepwalking but I just woke up
From a deep sleep
A very deep sleep
Ive been running on remote control
In a deep sleep
I awoke the moment I was told
That a smile is just a frown turned around
On the face of a clown with a mean streak
It was a deep sleep
A very deep sleep
I cant remember what I used to know
Somebody help me now and let me go
Into a deep sleep
Push me back now let me go
Into a dream again
To a sleep unlike before
So deep it never ends
Ive been caught inside a deep sleep
Sinking deeper after I forgot
Sleepwalking as I watch myself
In a deep sleep
I keep pretending that its someone else

A simple smile

Everytime you look at me you see nothing but a simple smile

My smile hides all the pain i feel deep inside

My smile is a simple cover up to show people its going to be alright

But when there nobody is around me that smile turns into a frown and my pain comes out

With each day that passes that smile you see changed into so much pain and suffering behind a chamber

As i fall farther into this dark cold world of depression all you see is my simple smile

As i pretend that everything is normal with that simple smile that hides pain so very will

As i cry late at night hopeing nobody can hear my cries

As i simply smile and pretend to be joyfulness and happy my smile hides a deep secret of pain

As i walk by i flashing a smile at everybody as my soul disappear into that cold dark place

As my soul disappears into this dark place of depression and sadness

All my friends and family see a simple smile that lasted forever but only if they knew that deep inside me i was hurting.

We Need But Ask

Its sad to see our neighbours fall
To see our families fail
Its sad that they reject God’s call
And spend their lives in jail

This age of car and aeroplane
Of spaceships to the moon
Man’s wanton lust and selfish gain
Though Christ is coming soon

They’ve been to school they’ve grown so wise
But still The Truth they doubt
Their selfish pride has closed their eyes
To what this life’s about

They fail to see the facts at hand
The devil’s robbed their sight
Whilst heads are stuck in shifting sand
They fail to see The Light

No thought of death and coming wrath
No thought of Heaven’s will
Choosing instead the devil’s path
They hope life’s hopes to fill

Whilst Satan yet controls their mind
Whilst evil fills their heart
They’ll wander lost and total blind
And have from life no part

God’s Son alone can save their soul
God’s Son alone can heal
God’s Son alone can make them whole
If when to Him they kneel

It matters not how deep we’ve trod
How shameful yet we live
We need but seek The Son of God
And ask Him to forgive

Twilight

'Twixt a smile and a tear,
'Twixt a song and a sigh,
'Twixt the day and the dark,
When the night draweth nigh.
Ah, sunshine may fade
From the heavens above,
No twilight have we
To the day of our love.

The Smile

There is a Smile of Love
And there is a Smile of Deceit
And there is a Smile of Smiles
In which these two Smiles meet

And there is a Frown of Hate
And there is a Frown of disdain
And there is a Frown of Frowns
Which you strive to forget in vain

For it sticks in the Hearts deep Core
And it sticks in the deep Back bone
And no Smile that ever was smild
But only one Smile alone

That betwixt the Cradle & Grave
It only once Smild can be
But when it once is Smild
Theres an end to all Misery

Smile … Dear Smile

Walk up to smile.
Fondle well to smile; Bring hearts from a mile.
Set heart to smile; Get muscle to smile.
Smile whispers one nest; A million senses to crest.
Smile to shine; bring out yawning spirits from whine.
Troubles' far gone with smile; Pains fade away with smile.
Give joy to heart with smile; Live for forever with smile.
Envy not to smile; Frown not to smile; for you have fond smile.
Win with smile; nothing lost to smile; Share contagious smile.
Winter, spring, summer or fall; be smile season to call.

A River of Orange

A river of the freshest orange makes her way towards my all,
I am the ocean of karma waters within which she may fall.

Here I swim within myself to honour the perfection of my bodies aspirations,
Here I swim within myself as a thousand spirits sour upon the joy of respiration.

A land of emerald grace hath absorbed the seed of faith and grown
Towards such magnificent proportions that I would never have believed
Had I not know that I would never be deceived by such angelic forms.

A bridge across the ocean casts shadow down upon the waters below,
The monsters of the deep stir in bubbling hibernation for the day,
They wait as the monsters of sleep their time to rise, their time to feed.

I am one alone within the waters orange, un-able to see below the surface,
Unable to see beyond my faith I am left as upon a raft of hope for happiness.
No one hath ever seen the land to which the bridge leads us in his direction
Yet in the distance the silhouette of hills are notated by the erection of their heads,
They too cast their shadow upon the waters deep though not a sun is there in the sky.

Am I to remain upon this voyage for eternity’s duration or am I to land upon those
Distant shores of promise that I was offered in the state of dreamtime wandering?
Have I left my love ones behind to no avail or is there reason for my failings in love?
For here, alone and still upon a karma tide I feel as one with the ocean all,
I feel as though I could fall into the sky and swim just as I feel as though
I have the power to move the mountains, arranging circles out of ancient stone.

The sky is an ocean deep and I’ll never swim whilst I sleep again.
The sky is an ocean deep and I’ll never swim whilst I sleep again.

Elderly Women Behind The Counter In A Small Town

i seem to recognize your face
haunting, familiar, yet i can't seem to place it
cannot find the candle of thought to light your name
lifetimes are catching up with me
all these changes taking place, i wish i'd seen the place
but no one's ever taken me
hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...
hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...
i swear i recognize your breath
memories like fingerprints are slowly raising
me, you wouldn't recall, for i'm not my former
it's hard when, you're stuck upon the shelf
i changed by not changing at all, small town predicts my fate
perhaps that's what no one wants to see
i just want to scream...hello...
my god its been so long, never dreamed you'd return
but now here you are, and here i am
hearts and thoughts they fade...away...
hearts and thoughts they fade...away...
hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...
hearts and thoughts they fade...

Betrayal

(wang chung / peter wolf)
We met as friends of friends while still at school
I was all you ever really knew
When we met it was like a dream
For all I knew we could not fail
But now I know of your betrayal
Living in the older part of town
I worked all hours I could to bring us round
Your career was alive for you
But deep inside I watched it fail
And now I know of your betrayal
Your betrayal
If only I could hold you close
But now I know how love grows frail
When I asked if youd leave me
Or bout the boyfriends youd had
You said youd stay with me always
And that youd never be bad
But I would notice a smile
That you would hold within
As if your vanity flirted
With your knowledge of sin
Now youre quiet and cold
Your eyes just stare into space
And if I ask you to talk
You just dissemble your face
And the smile that I hated
Is now a frown of denial
And thats how I know of your unspoken betrayal
Oh, thats how I know of your unspoken betrayal
Now I wish that Id set you free
But I was terrified that I would fail
And now I know of your betrayal
Your betrayal
If only I could hold you close
But now I know how love grows frail
Oh now I know of your betrayal
Now I know of your betrayal

Smile Or Frown

Pairs of opposites
Half of them parasites
In the lives of mortals
Invading their portals!

Smile and frown one such
World of difference so much!

Smile attracts, Frown repels
Smile wins, Frown loses
Smile befriends, Frown alienates
Smile infuses love, Frown injects hatred
Smile encourages, Frown deserts
Smile strengthens, Frown weakens
Smile carries, Frown throws off

Humans alone can control
And conquer to play their role!

Sport the smile
Bid adieu to frown
Make others happy
Feel really merry!

If I'd Been The One

I've been lost inside
Empty space in my heart
And some thing never change
Oh,
How it hurts me and
How it's tearin' me apart
And it just goes on and on
Can you read my mind?
Take a good look at my face
Could you take the time
Just to stand here in my place?
What if I'd been the one to say goodbye?
Goodbye
Could you smile when inside you just want to cry?
Look inside
Can you read my mind?
Oh, Oh
When I hear your name
Feel so cold deep inside
Still it's hard to explain, oh,
What your love meant to me
They say,
"Time will heal the pain"
But it just goes on forever
Can you read my mind?
Have you closed the door on love?
Can you be so blind?
Did you think I'd just give up?
What if I'd been the one to say goodbye?
Goodbye
Could you smile when inside you just want to cry?
Want to cry
What if I'd been the one to say goodbye?
Goodbye
Could you smile when it hurts so deep inside?
And it never fades away
Fade away
Time can erase the reasons why
Count my mistakes,
And the heartaches,
Since you said goodbye
What if I'd been the one to say goodbye?
Goodbye
Could you smile when inside you just want to cry?
Want to cry
What if I'd been the one to say goodbye?
Goodbye
Could you smile when it hurts so deep inside?
And it never fades away
Never fades away
No it don't fade away

Lady Nina

(fish, steve rothery, mark kelly, pete trewavas, ian mosley)
You pick out your credit cards and check into the night
A dozen tequilas and youre feeling all right
So you swim to the disco, out of your depth jaded gigolo
Your lucky charms are tarnished so you leave alone
But theres one place left to go before the taxi home
After all youve made your marks
One night youll play elizabeth taylor
The next night youre marilyn monroe
Forever kissing frogs that think theyre princes
Oh, lady nina, where did all the romance go?
Your little sister babysits, your husband picks you up at six
The make-up hides the bruises and the tears so they never show
cos your beauty is the only thing youve ever owned
Its the only way youve ever known to make your marks
You made your marks, you made your marks
We believe its for real
Ich liebe dich, liebst du mich
Lady nina, Id love to take you home with me
But I love my wife and I love my family
Ive got a good job, responsibilities
And I need to keep respect from society
I know youll never act with me, I know that youre in love with me
So how do I compare to the sailors of the ships of the night?
Was I all right?
Did you come tonight, lady nina?
You made your marks, you made your marks
Ebony flowers pinned to a velvet cushion in a red light
And edith piaf sings a lullaby for the night
Just making marks, just making marks
Just making marks, just making marks
You made your marks
Ebony flowers pinned to a velvet cushion in a red light
And edith piaf sings a lullaby for the night
Just making marks, just making marks
You made your marks
And you made your mark
Just making marks
And you made your mark
Just making marks

Sleep To Dream Her

I know Ill miss her later
Wish I could bend my love to hate her
Wish I could be her creator
To twist her arms now
She stares up at the stars when
The stars fell from her hair then
I bent down to collect them
And then she was gone
Oh I sleep just to dream her
I beg the night just to see her
That my only love should be her
Just to lie in her arms
Oh I came there to find out
Find out she made up her mind ohhhh
My arms are all tied up
To me she was blind
Mmmm this space between us
Where wingless dreams fall earless
Will you not bear me witness
With your back to me now
It seems so unnerving
Yet still somehow deserving
That she could hold my heart so tightly
And still not see me here
Oh I sleep just to dream her
Beg the night just to see her
That my only love should be her
Just to lie in her arms
I know Ill miss her later
I wish I could bend my love to hate her
Wish I could be her creator
To be the light in her eyes

Blind Hearts

How long will it take
Before you see
There is no room for you
Inside of me
Deep in our hearts
We are alone
Deep in out blind hearts
Skin and bone
In many ways
Youve lost your dignity
Hey girl, give up
Your hopeless ecstasy
Deep in our hearts
We are alone
Deep in out blind hearts
Skin and bone
Kiss high heaven
Kiss one other
Kiss the earth
And kiss the sea
Everything instead of me
Everything instead of me
Kiss your precious destiny
Deep in our hearts
We are alone
Deep in out blind hearts
Skin and bone
Deep in out hearts
We only know
Deep in our blind hearts
Skin and bone
Bone of contention
We only know
Bone of convention
We only know

Hidden

Do you really smile
When you smile?
Or like me
Smile for others to see.

The face of a clown
Replaces the frown
Just for a short while
It's a look of style

Are you laughing
Whilst deep inside crying
The smiling
All just lying

Do your eyes water
When you give no quarter
Tears glisten in the sun
When love is all done

DO you really smile
When you smile?

Down In The Deep

Way down, down in the deep
how many a sailor went to sleep?
Some in ships that were wrecked in a storm,
some in vessels that now do form
abodes for fish to swim all around.
Down in the deep at the bottom of its ground.

Way down, down in the deep
how many travelers went to sleep?
Some in planes that crashed in the sea,
strapped in their seats, not floating free.
The sea became their final resting place
down in the deep without a trace.

Way down, down in the deep
How many fishermen went to sleep?
Some in boats loaded with their catch,
Time had come when the sea became their match.
But, fishermen are in love with the big blue deep.
And so it is down in the deep that they sleep.

Psalm 129

Will you trust me in the valley deep?
Will you trust me as you lay down to sleep?
Yes I will trust you despite the pain
Yes I will trust you without any gain

Will you trust me in the depths of the sea?
Will you trust me though we may not agree?
Yes I will trust you in the darkest night
Yes I will trust you when I have no sight

Will you trust me when your lost and alone?
Will you trust me when your far from home?
Yes I will trust you when I have lost my way
Yes I will trust you to bring me back one day

Will you trust me that justice is Mine?
Will you trust me to give you new wine?
Yes I will trust you and turn the cheek
Yes I will trust you, your presence I seek
