The Clouds Will Soon Roll By

The hailstorm brought in blocks and pebbles of ice that around us lay

The rain waters hitting the windows, a scary rhythm it harshly did play.

The dark grey clouds, charioted by the winds of anger as into space I gazed.

Sent shivers down my spine as I tasted the salt, that kissed my lips and I stood dazed.

The memories of those who passed through my life, touched me with good grace.

With strength that never failed, to wade the rocky waters of life's uncertain race.

Hands stretched out from near and far the distance mattered not; the many miles apart.

Those tender special moments, engraved deeply now lies a memory in my heart.

With a bond so sweet to be cherished, a strength that changed the course of life.

To face many slains with the sweetest fragrance, clouding many a worldly strife.

Across the Gulf Waters Audrey Barber Smiles

Smile Away The Confused Heart
(audrey barber online sri lankan friend 2010)

That all important moment and you walked into my door.

God knew I needed genuine friends for my strength to grow,

Oh, they say that true friends in this planet tis to find so rare,

An online friendship a stong bond to blossom one must not dare!

But in my darkest hour you were the brightest shining star.

When deeply confused you gave me courage to travel distance far…

Unending hopes you extended that brought in a brand new life..

And you pushed me to rise high above all life's worldly strife..

A fun filled personality to cheer when things go.. so darn wrong.

To smile away my sorrows and make my life a melodious song

An..amazng person you crossed my path that was so uncertain..

held my hand from across the miles to unveil that black curtain!

Sailboat

As each grass grows and blows, so it is how each soul in life must grow, which goes like a sailboat.
Life is like a sailboat in that you are traveling on trouble waters as you embark on your journey, and throughout your journey as deep and uncertain as the waters are for a sailboat, the same fate lies in the journey of life.
No matter how straight the gate of life is, one will always face troubling waters.
Some days may be sunny and great to sail, while other may be rainy and dark.
But just as a sailor is able to maneuver through troubling waters and is able to dodge rocks and waves; we too possess those entities to be able to be rocked and stay steady like a sailboat.
But at the end of the day we are able to look to the sky and see the clouds and know that the unmoved mover is the reason for any progress through the struggle.
Being able to look from the higher land above, we then can see from where we have come.
As unsuspected as it may seem, sailing through all the struggles, we can now see the beauty of life from the other side looking in

My Mom

My Mom was like a perfect rose at springtime,
Pure and beautiful, and the petals perfectly formed,
And it's fragrance sweet and pleasing to the senses.
For the rose, as my mom, came into this world as a thing of beauty.

As time passed, the winds came into my mother's life,
For as life brings the rose, it also brings the winds.
The wind blows the petals off the rose and it is no longer new
And struggles through the wind to regain its strength and beauty.

Because the rose by God's design is a thing of splendor,
The petals grow back as the winds die down,
As did my mother, for her spirit was strong,
And she lived her life with a love that had no boundaries.

My Mom fought many winds with grace and strength,
Always with a smile and never to bring sadness to anyone,
For she could not bear to see anyone cry,
She was too full of love and life to let the wind touch her spirit.

Mom was my perfect rose; beautiful, warm, loving, and sweet.
She is safe from the winds now and lives in Heaven.
She will live on in my heart always,
And ease the strong wind that weakens me.

Someday the wind will be only a gentle breeze upon my face,
And I will know that she lives on in me forever.
I will know that my Mom is still with me,
Still beautiful and strong and loving.

She is safe now and so much stronger than the winds
The she so courageously endured.
And in that she taught me to believe, have faith, and to know
That I have the strength to endure the winds of my own sorrow.

I love you Mom, you are forever in my heart - you are forever.

A Good-Bye

FAREWELL! How soon unmeasured distance rolls
Its leaden clouds between our parted souls!
How little to each other now are we--
And once how much I dreamed we two might be!
I, who now stand with eyes undimmed and dry
To say good-bye--

To say good-bye to all sweet memories,
Good-bye to tender questions, soft replies;
Good bye to hope, good-bye to dreaming too,
Good-bye to all things dear--good-bye to you,
Without a kiss, a tear, a prayer, a sigh--
Our last good-bye.

I had no chain to bind you with at all;
No grace to charm, no beauty to enthral;
No power to hold your eyes with mine, and make
Your heart on fire with longing for my sake,
Till all the yearning passed into one cry:
'Love, not good-bye!'

Ah, no--I had no strength like that, you know;
Yet my worst weakness was to love you so!
So much too well--so much too well--or ill--
Yet even that might have been pardoned still--
It would have been had I been you--you I!
But now--good-bye!

How soon the bitter follows on the sweet!
Could I not chain your fancy's flying feet?
Could I not hold your soul--to make you play
To-morrow in the key of yesterday--?
Dear--do you dream that I would stoop to try?
Ah, no--Good-bye!

And You Are My Everything

You are my everything---
Night whispers in full bloom...
A fragrance garden radiating...
The brillance of the moon...
You are my endless sea--
No river of regret--
My still waters ever deep with thought...
A most brillant sunset...
You are my time within time--
Each moment an hours embrace...
Your tender touch-a necessity...
Your sweet lips upon my face...
You are the longing breath---
Upon my neck and spine...
The ever longed for-caress of my flesh...
A bliss-filled moment in time---
You are my everything--
My daylight reverie--
A thought of love-turned real my dove...
You are my sweetest memory---

My Dark Face

Don't look at me with scorn
Because from the Black race I was born
But from deep within your heart do look at me and smile
And you'll see King Solomon and St. Peter by my side.
Don't look at my dark face and sigh
Because from life's ladder I do not slide
But please support me when I call
So that from life's ladder I do not fall.
Don't look at his dark face and inwardly cry
Because you know that I am filled with pride
To sail through life's rough tide
And gain the precious prize.
Don't look at my dark face and say
That at this place I should not stay
Remember that as I journey through life's race
I have the strength to regain the pace.
Now look at my dark face
And think about the Savior's base
For he was born within that stable
And like Him, when He lived on earth, I am always labeled.
No longer look at my dark face with scorn
But remember that through Christ we were all born
Then let us strive through Grace
To win the Heavenly race.

Bloved brother

The first born of the family
Brought happiness and prosperity
Even his name represents that
“Aklil” means “crown” in Tigrinya
He paid his life with no doubt
Stood for his people for his home land
Such a good brother and son
So young and a sweet one
Too unfair to be gone

How can I forget his smiley face
So cute and decent our family’s grace
Life has been too mean to you
Beloved brother I miss you

While I’m obsess through sadness
Realize if it weren’t you and the others
Paid life and brought this peace
We wouldn’t live and blithe
Not even be able to breath
Beloved brother, we all are proud of you
Even though we crazily missing you

The short good times we shared
Is what I deeply engraved
And I always miss that
“Aklilu” your memory is in my heart

Never thought life could be that short
You deserve to live and it really hurt
My beloved “Aklil” this poem is for you
I wanted the whole world to know you
I love you and I really miss you! ! ! !

A Voice Unheeded!

Mother earth silently awaits, dumb …with fear
Seeing the speed raging, writhing in anger as it nears
The dark clouds dims the golden blaze so unseen
The echoing howling voice of the hurricane so mean
Dismayed, prepares to meet the wild cruel whirling
As the world braces through the gloomy warning
Sending shivers down the spine battering boldly
Uplifts trees crashing windows lines so coldly
Giants of air swaying the trees with many blows
Oceans restless as it swells and the river overflows
And lo! Behold the shattering winds, the heavy gales,

The insensitive hurricane destruction never ever fails;
Charioted by the wind reaching out for lands and more
Leaving behind memories ugly that none can restore~

The Last Envoy

THIS wind, that through the silent woodland blows,
O'er rippling corn and dreaming pastures goes
Straight to the garden where the heart of spring
Faints in the heart of summer's earliest rose.

Dimpling the meadow's grassy green and grey,
By furze that yellows all the common way,
Gathering the gladness of the flowering broom,
And too persistent fragrance of the may--

Gathering whatever is of sweet and dear,
The wandering wind has passed away from here,
Has passed to where within your garden waits
The concentrated sweetness of the year.

And in your leafed enclosure as you stood,
Training your flowers to new beatitude--
Ah! did you guess the wind that kissed your hair
Had kissed my forehead in this solitude--

Had kissed my lips, and gathered there the heat
It breathed upon your mouth, my only sweet--
Had gathered from my eyes the tender thought
That drooped your eyes, and stirred your pulses' beat?

You only thought the sun's caress too warm
That lay upon your bosom and your arm;
You did not guess the wind had brought from me
The unacknowledged fancy's fire and charm--

You only said, 'Too strong these sunlit skies,
More dear the moments when the daylight dies!'
And then you dreamed of meetings by your gate
In sanctity of sunset and moonrise.

To-night, when he shall come and meet you there,
To kiss your lips and hands and eyes and hair,
To light with love and hope youth's waiting shrine--
Think of my love, and my assured despair!

To-night the wind will rob the languid flowers
Of secret scents kept close through daylit hours;
It will blow coolly over dewy lawns,
Where the laburnums fall in silent showers.

I, too, shall learn a secret then--shall wrest
Life's hidden things from out her languorous breast,
Shall learn the way that leads away from life
Into the land where nothing lives but rest.

You will not know that the cold air you prize,
After the stormy sweetness of his sighs,
Is cold from blowing through a moonlit wood
Over the hollow where a dead man lies!

The Strength Within

The dark clouds are filling the skies.
The rain will soon settle in.
My sorrow then begins to rise.
Find strength within, find strength within.
All of the mountains are steeper ahead,
And I've struggled thust far I've been.
I calmly lower my head.
Find strength within, find strength within.
The world around me is dying.
Surrender is conquering a thousand men.
The life within me is crying.
Find strength within, find strength within.
I use to wonder when I'd walk my last mile,
Until I found Jesus, my friend.
Now there's a reason to smile!
I've found strength within, I've found strength within.

You Changed My Life

You changed my life
Came along in a time of strife
In hunger and need
You made my heart bleed
You changed my life
You changed my life
Now the nature of man
Is to beg and to steal
Id do it myself
Its not so unreal
The call of the wilds
Forever at my door
Want me to fly like an eagle
Being chained to the floor, but
You changed my life
Came along in a time of strife
In hunger and need
You made my heart bleed
You changed my life
You changed my life
Eating with the pigs
Off a fancy tray
I was bold, I was looking good
And to have a nice day
It all seemed so proper
And so elite
Eating absolute garbage
While being so discreet.
You changed my life
Came along in a time of strife
In hunger and need
You made my heart bleed
You changed my life
You changed my life
You were glowing in the light
Being peaceably calm
Well, how often does a man dance
To the beat of the balm?
Your eyes were on fire
Your feet were of brass
In a world that you made
You were an outcast
You changed my life
Came along in a time of strife
In hunger and need
You made my heart bleed
You changed my life
You changed my life
Truce makers and partakers
Of every selfish whim
Her running to meet me running to her
And you running back to him
Their destruction of my confidence
Was like a sharpness of the tongue
I said: make my faith greater
But I was a little high strung
You changed my life
Came along in a time of strife
In hunger and need
You made my heart bleed
You changed my life
You changed my life

Philippians 4: 13

The strength to resist the night
The strength to endure the day
The strength to keep righteous paths in sight
The strength to take them without delay

The strength to find a purpose in life
The strength to find the truths it brings
The strength to kick away from strife
The strength to stabalize the rock it clings

The strength to light a friend’s day up
The strength to resist wrathful foes
The strength to fill a stranger’s dry cup
The strength to shun sin when it opposed

The strength to feel a injured man’s pain
The strength to hold a reject’s hand
The strength to act against any gain
The strength to love without demand

The strength to understand that our King
Has blessed us with more than we can contain
Therefore regardless what time may bring
The strength will continue to reign

The Journey..From great grandparents to grandchildren

Numerous are such blessing don't know exactly where to start
They have left their heart prints deeply embedded in my heart
As I look back into my childhood many a tender moments do replay
They are so unique and precious, much more than spoken words can say
Their concern kindness understanding, a blessing from God above,
A strength indeed, in life's journey the sweetest fragrance of love
Through good times and the bad times that can never ever be measured
They do appear in the form of angels, and that is the best to be treasured
When the going was tough and into depressive moods I almost did drown
Many a teardropp they did wipe away to smile away that many a frown
Now my kids grandkids traveled the world over they loved them, the same
Their gentle hands help them as useful citizens to step into the hall of fame
Children and Grandchildren they are riches, blessings from above and more
Hearts did not fail them courage did not desert them to their goal they did go
Stumbling thro collectively, individually, braving the calamity every sunrise
Tired and weary awaiting their return hopefully to see their sparkling eyes
Melina Nadi Firasa Marie and Abdullah the wonders of the Amazing you
God Almighty shower his blessings today and all through life's journey too

For My Boys - Dedicated to Brendan & Christopher

My life changed the day,
You came into this world.
The life that I knew,
Became unfurled.

In held you so close.
I looked in your eyes.
The joy that I felt.
And the tears filled my eyes.

My finger you took.
You grasped with your hand.
For your life I would fight.
For your dreams I would stand.

I then took you home.
My sweet little boy.
You were God's special gift.
My bundle of joy.

Time it passed on.
You started to talk.
Then within a few weeks.
Your first steps you did walk.

The first day of school.
It was then I did know.
One day I would have to,
Let my special gift go.

You scored your first goal.
Mom and I were so proud.
We cheered for you son.
We praised you so loud.

Time it marched on,
You had your first date.
You were growing so fast.
Time does not wait.

Then you drove the car.
You drove it away.
I remembered the little ones.
In which you used to play.

Now off to college.
My boys now a man.
I can't help to remember.
The day it began.

Then you fell in love.
You walked down the aisle.
The future you'd have.
Made mom and me smile.

Your first child was born
Now you and your wife.
Had your special gift.
And your reason for life.

I remember the Christmas.
That we had that year.
New memories to cherish.
The old ones still dear.

But I just want to tell you.
The days that I miss.
Toys in the rec room.
That sweet good night kiss.

Prayers before bedtime.
Watching my angels sleep.
These are the moments.
In my heart I do keep.

I Have A Rendezvous With Life

I have a rendezvous with Life,
In days I hope will come,
Ere youth has sped, and strength of mind,
Ere voices sweet grow dumb.
I have a rendezvous with Life,
When Spring's first heralds hum.
Sure some would cry it's better far
To crown their days with sleep
Than face the road, the wind and rain,
To heed the calling deep.
Though wet nor blow nor space I fear,
Yet fear I deeply, too,
Lest Death should meet and claim me ere
I keep Life's rendezvous.

Memories and Silver Tears

Soon... Golden Memories and Silver Souvenirs

Alone seated, dwelling in sweet silence with memories and thought,
Of a true and a beautiuf journey which could have been sought.
A fragrance now creeps into a heart, with happiness, free of dent,
A Masterely voice, with dignity and loving, warmth words, kindly lent.
Unmeasured wishes, hopes, dreams, sadly many years too late.
But a strength, to brave wasted days, wasted nights, is such a fate.
Magical, velvety lyrics, will be treasured deep, to meet worldy fears,
A walk into memory lane, those lost precious feelings of yester year.
A special richness of sweet fragrance of faith, trust, love, with dignity.
Awaiting for 'the expiration time' as the clock ticks on insensitively.
Closing the doors on a fractured journey, the result of many a strife.
Diving courageously, journey ends, a quality with love, values of life.....
Hopefully in '30 years' it will be the land with no more parting and pain
Till then 'The brown aging eyes' will be left sadly crying in the rain.

The never-ending road

I saw the landscape passing by,
while the car swept
on with a never-ending road.

Buildings rose up into the air
and everywhere people were
packed square by square
in offices, flats and apartments.

White yellow mine dumps
and huge cranes glided by
and I felt small as a fly,
against the immensity of it all

Acres of corn surrounded me
and all the way to the horizon,
I saw no tree.

The green was all around me
and a mechanical spray point,
where showering water in an arc.

The land flattened
while I drove South
and grey thorn bushes flashed by.

Here and there
some rocky outcrops
stood red brown against the flat plain,
but everything begged for a dropp of rain.

In the far distance up in the sky
a lightning bolt twisted to the ground
and when the rain came gushing down,
life sprouted from the sand.

The road stretched on
and in the distance
the black of the tar
met with the sky
and except for the windmills I passed by,
that road could have been
anywhere on this good great earth.
