Journal of a Travellers Mind n Heart Jan 2011
A Diary of a Travellers Mind
The world is a stage... where we perform an act.
and then to situations we blindly hastily react.
When our share is done, we have played our part.
Either by breaking or mending a tattered heart.
Our childhood playmates with time all drifted away.
With the shrinkng world, back they came some way.
Childhood memories come with tenderness to play.
Innocent days of joy, that never could slip away.
Shares many a lost smile, extended so generously.
Wiping away, controlled tears that now flow effortlessly.
The tears and all the fears soon will see its end
......when to the angels call our soul will lend,
Make the best of life, with respect, sweetness it must be
To the values of life which should be a great priority...
Memory is a special diary that we carry in our hearts,
Warm and gentle, no careless hands can tear it apart,
Of the Wonder Years we shared with friends, loved ones
A treasured journey under God's glorious golden sun....

The Uncertainty Of Memory
my childhood
yes
MY childhood
as i am fixed
here
the line is dead
oh for a diary
but no one had told me
and no one had said
then
and all those days
kept from the ink of a pen
an itch not scratched
only shuffled faces
in a box
but do the words match?
and do the lives stitch?
together
i am set
to this life
now
and those thoughts moved away
some time ago
from this fractured memory
frame by frame
inventing days to remember?
oh for a diary
just a simple
cardboard box
full of MY days
a book for each year
but maybe it was just
so fucking dull
i try to fill up those spaces
inside this solid warm sparking mass
of my thinking
teased into every corner
of those years
in this place where it all goes on
this well-used filing cabinet
and the lost details
of my childhood
yes
MY childhood
i TRY to be there
i fail
to really be that boy
In my head
at four or five who knows?
the teachers hand
my mothers smile
my sisters face
the house
that boy of seven i was
Elm Park Essex 1961
who was kicking balls
and raiding fridges
for something interesting
and two biscuits made me smile
every day
and of course
the lemonade
on Saturday
and those times of
holding wooden guns
my father had made
lovingly carved
from the noise of his shed
HIS place
he said
in a small bedroom
i moved
too cold in winter
ice inside the window
so downstairs
by the fire i sketched
other worlds
on that white space
killing with a well sharpened pencil
before the uncertainty
of memory
before the correctness
of politics

Children Of The Heart
Have you ever left?
Your childhood alone
Have you ever let?
Your childhood dreams go
I've never really known
The joys a child should know
I've never really seen
What it's like to just being a child
But in each of us there lies
A child breaking to be free
To learn life's mysteries
In child like dream
To run with friends and family
Free just like a breeze
To play in the fields
Of a childhood memory's
What is it really like?
To be a warrior of old
What is it really like?
To be innocent in ones life
What is it really like?
To be a hero in a child's dream
I sigh and often dream
What it would be like to be free
Free of all your burdens
In a child's innocent world
Of dreams
Can you explain to me?
What the mystery a child hold's
Why do we crave
Our childhood of old
I smile and think often
Deep inside my soul
There will always be a child
Bursting forth to be free
Just wanting to let go
There will always be a child
Wanting all their dreams
To fly into a world of fantasy's
And just being free
Smiling softly to myself
I close my eyes and dream
Of when I was a little girl
Reliving all my dreams

The Diary Of Me
Umm pum-pum-pum
Pum-pum, pum-pum, pum-pum
Look behind myself
As I reflect on all the memories
The times they come and go
Lost everything from friends to Family
If I could turn back the hands
There would be some things I'd change about me
I know that my past is not what my future holds
Where I come from
Who could believe
All the pain and misery
Look in my eyes and you'll see
The diary of me
Rewind my life
Just go back and correct all the wrong
And ask God to direct my path
So that I can make it home
And if I could turn back the hands of time
There would be some things I would change about me
But I know that my past is not what my future holds
'Cause
Where I'm from
Who could believe
All the pain, misery
Look in my eyes and you will see
The diary of me
Years ago a child was born (a child was born) (ooh)
And raised without a man (without my... father, and wonder why he's in these streets) (ooh)
My mother's gone (mothers gone, yet still... found the strength to pray for me) (ooh)
But still reached out her hand
Just open the book (na-na-na-na-na-na)
Turn the pages of my life (na-na-na)
And you will read
A true story about one man's journey
Where I'm from (ahh...)
Who would believe, yeah
That all the hurt and pain and misery (ahh...)
Look in my eyes (ahh...)
You'll see the diary of me (pum-pum-pum-pum-pum)
Where I'm from (where I'm from, who could believe) (ahh...)
Who could believe (the hurt and pain and misery)
(Look in my eyes) in my eyes (and you will see) (ahh...)
(The makings of) the makings of
(My diary) my diary
(Where I'm from) look in my eyes (ahh...)
(Who could believe) you'll see
(The hurt and pain and misery)
(Look in my eyes) (ahh...)
(And you will see) yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
(The makings of my diary)
(Where I'm from...) (ahh...)

Memories Of The Roeside
Scenes of a childhood,
Long years ago,
Surface in memory as vivid as snow:
The Mullagh, the Dogleap,
The Wet Wood and the Dry…
Memories of the Roeside
Bringing tears to each eye.
And where are the friends
Of those days before?
Do they share the fond memories
Which I have in store?
Do they think of the Marshfield,
The old Wireless Lane,
Nicholl’s Brae, The Flat,
And the high Rock of Kane?
Do they recall the summers
By the Wee Rock at the Mill,
Or the sports in the Avenue
With many a thrill?
And what of the ‘characters’-
Ah, too many to relate;
It being good fortune
To share partly their fate…
Oh these memories of childhood,
Of school- days, of youth,
I cling to like life, as precious as truth.
And to those still living, my friends of the Roe
I drink you a toast to times long ago.

Awakening
Ageing, I stand on the silken golden desert sand.
A deep breath I take as this vast wonderland
Trembles with turbulence, metals all around.
Caved in by greed and variable confusion found.
Recollecting memories stored with care, tenderly
In the back of a playground mind so preciously
Though grown in separate ways, grown not apart
A beautiful stunning awakening, stealing my heart
A 'chance' again our paths meet so unexpectedly
Childhood days shared carefree and so briefly
Oceans away hearts did not dim nor lose track
Emotions stirred and makes a gentle come back
A friendship blossoms, now so trusting strong.
With the sweetest fragrance of feelings born.
The towering strength you did so kindly lend.
Flowered serenity, hopes, cant quite comprehend.
The journey, oh so long, tiring almost at an end.
Exquisite, like no other, a treasure, the best of friends.
Distance, seas away we remain and may meet not
Hearts, minds now connected, and forget me not.
The curtain soon fall, leaving a stage, lost and bare
Remember 'dearest all' great to know, best of friends care!

Childhoods End (live)
Track 9 _Misplaced Childhood_
And it was morning.
And I found myself mourning,
for a childhood that I thought had disappeared.
I looked out the window,
And I saw a magpie in the rainbow, the rain had gone
I'm not alone, I turned to the mirror,
I saw you, the child, that once loved.
The child before they broke his heart,
Our heart, the heart that I believed was lost.
Hey you, surprised? More than surprised,
to find the answers to the questions,
Were always in your own eyes.
Do you realize that you give it on back to her?
But that would only be retraced in all the problems that you ever knew,
So untrue.
For she's got to carry on with her life,
and you've got to carry on with yours.
So I see it's me, I can do anything
And still the child,
'Cos the only thing misplaced was direction
And I found direction.
There is no Childhood's End.
There is no Childhood's End.
Cos' you are my childhood friend.
Cos' you are my childhood friend.
Oh lead me on.
Hey you, you've survived.
Now you've arrived,
to be reborn in the shadow of the magpie.
Now you realize, that you've got to get out of here.
You've found the leading light of destiny,
burning in the ashes of your memory.
You want to change the world.
You'd resigned yourself to die a broken rebel,
But that was looking backward.
Now you've found the light.
You, the child that once loved,
The child before they broke his heart.
The heart, the heart that I believed was lost
So it's me I see, I can do anything.
I'm still the child.
'Cos the only thing misplaced was direction, and I found direction.
There is no childhood's end.
There is no childhood's end.
There is no childhood's end.
I am your childhood friend.
Oh.. lead me on

When Hopes Are Gone!
A friend shares your laughter and tears...
Lends a helping hand to lessen fears
Friends such, lives on in the heart forever,
...Though they may not end up, together,
Memories of a true friendship will not die,
Their brightest smile will keep it alive.
Holding a special piece of your heart.
Decades distance can never tear it apart.
The tender words that escape their lips.
Flows effortlessly, gently, its at their finger tips
Memories evergreen and oh so constantly lives on..
A strength to move when all hopes are gone..
Nothing seems to be for you and a heartache brings
The voice of a friend in your heart will musically sing! ! -

Friendship A Tranquilizer
Those days of glamour and innocence now replay,
Laughter tears with smile spread across many a day.
Glances exchanged, friends of days that was less forgot,
Some moments of time, engraved a sweetness knew not.
As paths drifted across oceans and the volumes of sky,
Memories darkened fading and unclear as time did fly.
Decades, years, months, did not its beauty ever forget.
Friendly thoughts shared with reservation that was set.
Wondering if it will ever come back to cherish, again.
Now alone a stand, heartaches uncertainty unending pain.
As special memories surface, with many a hidden bliss.
A friendship never was sought, now kind of feels the miss.
A heart embraces, feelings of happiness gently do swell.
A place with dignity and grace a tranquility to dwell

My Diary (Demo Recording)
I looked in my diary, no spaces today,
A life so eventful, stacked with appointments too important to break,
Lunch at the bistro, tea at the savoy cafe,
No time to contemplate the isolation,
No second can be wasted, no space to think because,
My diary is full but my life is empty.
Oh yes, my diary is full but my life is empty.
Its all so contemporary, the sheer pretension of it,
Its all so temporary, but all so shallow really,
Let me look, I might be able to squeeze you in between,
No, my diary is so full I couldnt possibly meet you today,
This evening is blocked out with potential investors in my lonely one-man play,
Perhaps next week maybe when there are fewer functions to attend,
So for now Ill pencil you in,
Between the visit to my doctor, my appointment at the bank,
This time its really crucial, thats why its written in red,
My diary is my life and my life is standing on my head,
Oh my diary is full but my life is empty,
Oh yes my diary is full but my life...
I look at your picture on my bedroom wall,
Im trying to forget you, thats why my diary is so full,
Chock-a-block with engagements but its only for show,
cause Im all dressed up with nowhere to go,
To stop my isolation, keep myself occupied,
My diary is my one salvation,
Names, dates, numbers, but inside I long to cancel all those entries,
My diary is full but my lifes empty,
My diary is full but my life is empty.

A Crying Child
Inside my heart there's a crying child
Still remains the pain of the past
Still is there aline in pain
O, Child don't you know that?
There are truths in life won't be ever changed
All the time they stay the same
All the time they remain the pain
Over and over they revive the ache
O, Child those lost childhood days
O, Child and who can bring back the past
They are unknown inside of your heart
The longing to the unknown
Unlived
Deprived
Strange
O, Lost childhood days
O, Child Cry Cry
May your innocent tears brings back the time
O, Child may a magic take you over there
May the time stops once again right there
May the time washes away your pain
O, Child still there are tears uncried
O, Child still the happiness is lost inside your eyes.

Dear Diary
Dear diary
Today I saw a boy
And I wondered if he noticed me
He took my breath away
Dear diary
I can't get him off my mind
And it scares me
'Cause I've never felt this way
No one in this world
Knows me better than you do
So diary I'll confide in you
Dear diary
Today I saw a boy
As he walked by I thought he smiled at me
And I wondered
Does he know what's in my heart
I tried to smile

Breakin Up Is Breakin My Heart
Roy orbison
I wonder why you threw your diary away
When you walk by I nearly died what can I say
Things were fine, you were mine just yesterday
Now were apart ,breakin up is breakin my heart
I find myself alone at night and then I cry
No tenderness my happiness just said goodbye
Now youre gone, Im alone I wonder why we had to part
Breakin up is breakin my heart, baby
Breakin up is breakin my heart
The love affair we used to share is cold and still
I loved you then I love you now I always will
The day that you found someone new
My lonely world just fell apart
Out of your arms drives me out of my mind
Baby, breaking up is breakin my heart
Baby, breaking up is breakin my heart
Breakin up is breakin my heart
Breakin up is breakin my heart

Seven Days
She was so young and so afraid
Of a world she could not understand
For seven days I held her close
Like a child in the palm of my hand
There were
Seven tears
To wipe away
Seven fears
To keep at bay
Seven words
For me to say
In seven days
The strands of wisdom twist and curl
Soft flame in the warmth of my heart
Oh essential words that lightly fall
Like snow thru the mist of her thought
The gentle rain of innocence
That flows from her ebony eyes
Another secret moment shared
To be part of the rest of our lives
There were
Seven dreams
To live for real
Seven streams
Of hope revealed
Seven ways
Of love to feel
In seven days
We are the only ones who know
Her smile was poetry
Her soul she showed it to me
The dawning of the seventh day
Saw her shine like the radiant skies
I knew that she would leave me then
Bright hope in her ebony eyes
(and now) I watch her dance before the world
Soft flame in the movements she makes
And all those secret moments shared
Stay warm in my thoughts everyday
Remembering
Seven tears
Wiped away
Seven fears
Kept at bay
Seven words
You heard me say
Seven dreams
To live and play
Seven streams
Of hope revealed
Seven waves
Of love we feel
Seven days
Memory of seven days

Let The Tears Dry
Let the tears dry and bring back your smile,
Hear the mountains cry.
The tears will grow where you laid your tears,
Rivers will flow, rivers will flow,
Flow where you rest your fears.
A soul has fled when the blood was shed,
A soul that cared for life so deeply.
The memory will grow in us
And make you and I a family.

She Wrote About Our Mother.
She wrote about our mother and it took me far away
And many, many years in time back home to Claraghatlea
And as I read her letter I fought to choke the tears
For Millstreet, Cork and Ireland and happy childhood years.
She wrote about our mother long under Tanyard soil
And memories flooded back to me of one with ready smile
Of woman who worked hard for us for no reward or pay
The heroine of our childhood years of happy by gone day.
She wrote about our mother with sense of love and pride
And memories flooded back to me and tears welled up inside
For one who done her best for us her very best she tried
And I still feel she is with us her spirit never died.
A letter from my sister in east Rockaway in New York
Reminding me of childhood years in Millstreet County Cork
She wrote about our mother whose passing left a void
And memories flooded back to me and tears welled up inside.

When Two Hearts Say Goodbye
There's no sense in crying
You've made up your mind
And how can I convience you
When it 's all over this time
I hide the tears from showing
Just to play it strong inside
But my heart knows the truth
For every tear I try to deny
When Two Hearts Say Goodbye
I seen you walking along today
You smiled and said hello
My heart knew you very well
As I tried to stop the tears flow
I played it off so damn good
As you turned and walked away
Thinking of so much we shared
And how you thrown it away
When Two Hearts Say Goodbye

Not At All
Let me not pray
To make the dangers run away,
But be fearless in facing bad lack.
Let me not beg
For not breaking heart,
But for the courage enough to face.
Let me not crave
For non-tear page,
But for the smile not to blind.
Tears' diary, Smiles' history,
Which may be better brand?
Choose one and practice.
Neglect one and skip.
I think like breathing breeze's stage show,
All are easy come and easy go.
