The Consolations For My Mediocrity
There are many consolations for my mediocrity-
Most are like me
Very few are great-
I tried and wrote what I had to-
I did not give up-
Greatness is a gift of God
I was not given-
A petty person's consolation
In the end perhaps too the greatest
Will know oblivion-
And last and in the end
There is no consolation for having failed.

Sonnet: On Greatness
Greatness is not a thing, much like an art;
Some man turns great if on it he stumbles;
His greatness ceases, if he thinks, he's great;
Great is he truly who tho' great, humbles.
Greatness is not true greatness, self-proclaimed;
Greatness is not what world showers on us;
Greatness is neither got by being claimed.
Greatness is not achieved by making fuss.
Greatness could come if world decides to give;
Greatness will stay if God blesses our work;
Such greatness, God-destined comes while men live;
Greatness can grow even without much luck.
Greatness doesn't come to everyone on earth;
Some men are made great; some are great by birth.

Sexual Trauma
Extensive damages of tissue
And many blisters
It's a picture of a woman
Scared...and alone
-Light doesn't bring consolation
All- embracing pain in the face
Intensified by incomprehension of situations
Breathing space pain again
fleeting dream and nightmares
...Darkness will bring consolations...
Hardly palpable caress
Touch and crawly feeling of the body
In convulsive thrills
Streaming with perspiration and suffering
...Terrible scream...
A raped woman can't see the torturer
She feels his squalid sperm
No! It's absurd
Istn't it true
-Light has brought consolation
But for whom

Just Punishment
At least I have made myself into the
most unlovable person who has ever
been, some consolation indeed; I am
a scoundrel at work, taking up space
and oxygen, at home I'm too pre-
occupied to get anyone's attention
Only when I became resigned that my
daughter would smash her car could I
relax while she charged all obstacles,
refusing to change gears even when
the car stalled; I cried in despair as
my son bicycled home in the dark
The only consolation I got was that he
promised not to do it again - I give up
tried in vain to attain spiritual growth;
I am the worst person I know - the
sooner I give up wrong ideals and
attempt being the worst delinquent
The world has ever seen, the sooner I
would be happy again, emitting such
a low vibration, it will take a million
lifetimes to take me to a higher
plane; every friend I have
dreamt of, every ideal
Destroyed by MYSELF spiritualists say,
claiming we create our own reality, my
feelings inform me I have created the
worst nightmare - losing family and
friends - according to twin sis, my
dad feels the same about life
I wish I could share my pain with him
but he is out of bounds; just my luck
that us two scoundrels may not meet
again, such just punishment…

Consolation Cannot Be The Prize
Sad and angry, consolation
cannot be the prize,
though neither zeal nor agitation
can help to amortize
the feelings of despair and grief,
or blow away the blues
when desperate with disbelief,
and sad from self-abuse.
Agitated with great zeal,
prizes in your grasp
are, when you’re sad and angry, real
as air that makes fish gasp.
My friend Barbara Burbanks, shocked by my poem “Autobiography, ” wrote to me: “You keep writing poems about sad relationships and sexless lives, ” so I decided to write an upbeat poem for a change, but this is what emerged. The poem, revised on 11/30/09, was inspired by words spoken on the BBC regarding the poet Christopher Hill, who was giving a lecture about “Coriolanus” in the Purcell Room of the Royal Festival Hall:
The American critic Hugh Kenner once criticised Geoffrey Hill's poems by saying that language should not be agonised over like Christianity is. It is, I think, Hill's distinction that in volume after volume from the early 'For the Unfallen' to the recent 'The Triumph of Love', he has shown not only how that agonising might take place, but has proved its necessity in our modern world of atrocity and horror amid the failure of adequate response by the professional religious. 'What is the poem? ' asked the narrative voice at the end of 'The Triumph of Love.' What figures? And the response that voice supplies is, 'say a sad and angry consolation.' The voice goes on, 'that's beautiful, once more a sad and angry consolation.'

Great consolation may grow out of the smallest saying.
Sharing The Ultimate Gift
I want to share a special gift with you that God has given to me,
This gift like most others that you will receive is absolutely free.
However unlike other gifts that you may have received in the past,
This special gift and this one alone through all eternity will last.
Although you can't see this gift, it's the greatest you can receive,
This gift is not in a box, but in the heart of all those who believe.
And even though this gift is one of a kind and very special indeed,
You'll surely want to give this gift away as soon as it is received.
Don't be concerned about giving away something you didn't use,
For God said “Blessed are the feet of those who bring good news.”
This gift will surprise you on the day you decide to give it away,
You won't feel any loss at all with more to give the following day.
My friend you will be Eternally Grateful when you finally choose,
To truly embrace but give away this gift that you can never lose.
By now you know this gift is none other than Jesus Christ the Lord,
And your faithful sharing of this gift, by Him, will not be ignored.
For our Great Blessed Hope, who through the ages many have adored,
At His return will bring to all His faithful, an Everlasting Reward.
So the next gift you receive and think you'll treasure forevermore,
Remember that the only truly lasting gift is Jesus Christ The Lord.

My Petty Greed
People with petty greed ~ how much do they get
Not all people have big-sized greeds
We very ordinary
bunch of people with petty greed
Don't even have courage to feel big-sized greed
My petty greed has often been met
by petty donors
Twice or so I was saved
by the God on my shelf
After safe escape I gave a smirk
Indulged a bit in intellectual conceit Ah
Escaped narrowly honour is saved
Yet my petty greed was not quenched
Even now I make rounds to petty donors
Ah they too are small-time people
They too live within limits
How can they give their all
Even if they give do I have the guts
to pull all up to the roots.
Can people with petty greed geta full amount
Very ordinary person I
pulled by petty greed
Ever go round and round
Come back home take bath daily
Light the lamp on my shelf
God keep saving me
Very ordinary person, me
haven't even got the courage
to feel big-sized greed.

Moments With Me
I am not able to enjoy
The moments with you
And it is misfortune.
Everything passed
I remained alone
Looking empty sky.
Great consolation
You are with me
And I am in consonance
With you only with you
And only for you.

Never Say Die
Oh who took that shot
Well I couldnt say, I was already down
Oh who set me up
Well I couldnt say cause I saw no one around
Now Im lyin here in desperation
I had it all worked out
Everything I hear is consolation
Ive got this feelin you should never say die
In my fantasy
There were days to come that I wanted so bad
Someone sold me out then it all was done
That dream was all that I had
Now Im lyin here in desperation
I had it all worked out
Everything I hear is consolation
Ive got this feelin you should never say die

Macy's Day Parade
Today's the Macy's Day Parade
Night of the living dead is on it's way
With a credit report for duty call
It's a lifetime guarantee
Stuffed in a coffin "10% more free"
Red light special at the mausoleum
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed to you
What's the consolation price?
Economy sized dreams of hope
When I was a kid I thought
I wanted all the things that I haven't got
Oh but I learned the hardest way
Then I realized what it took
To tell the difference between thieves and crooks
Lesson learned it was me and you
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed
Cause I think 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known
Cause now I know it's all that I wanted
What's the consolation price?
Economy sized dreams of hope
Give me something that I need
Satisfaction guaranteed
Cause I think 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known
And where it goes
And I'm thinking 'bout the only road
The one I've never known
And were it goes
And I'm thinking 'bout a brand new hope
The one I've never known
Cause now I know it's all that I wanted

Consolation
I put my arms around you, your body stalls and droops
I give you consolation but theres nothing I can do
Estranged I listen to a voice so scared
Like a martyr from another world, I no longer share
The anguish of a thousand days, the fear of life like everyone
Against there is no chance to swim, you have to simply drift along
Everyday the sting moves deeper, one day it will reach your soul
Its near so close at hand for everyone
No more consolation, no more aggravation,
No more I am making changes for everyone
Your eyes are breaking, the curtain is to drop
You want her here but you never begged before
If I could only scream and silence your voice
I might achieve to wake you up and make you come to a stop
When my world is quiet and no one fills my head
I give it one more thought and put it back to bed
Everyday the sting moves deeper, one day it will reach your soul
Its near so close at hand I hope you understand
No more consultation, no more aggravation,
No more I am making changes for everyone

Inside The Lonely Train
inside that lonely train
a man finds consolation in his black dog
but soon
life will be over as the train reaches
its destination too
death, oblivion, annihilation
on a global destruction
that even to his dog
a man cannot hold on to an intimacy
sooner, not later, everything ends
no dog, no man, no cockroach shall be spared
no virus, no germ, except perhaps
the truth, the word
not even this poem, this poet
or its reader too, because
it shall be.

Gift
There are many gifts;
we give one another,
but the greatest gift
anyone can receive
is the gift of unconditional love.
It comes in many forms
from that which we give our partner
and that which we give our friends.
We receive it readily
always never trying to abuse
the trust that comes with it
when we receive
the greatest gift
of unconditional love.

Poetry As Constellation
for Karthik,
'...descend, and of the curveship lend a myth to God.'
You hear
'consolation'
as 'constellation'
when I explain
a poem is a
consolation
work that I
am compelled
to
as a lover
is to traces
pointing
beyond sighs
and windows
where
Arcturus
stands
poised
wheeling
in night's
patient
slow round,
his arrow
strung
forever
ready to
swiftly fly
as am I
along the
spatial curve
of your
arching
thighs.
Thi s, too,
taut,
restrained,
breath held
in perpetua's
swollen
lips of
release -
If you
could only
see what
I see in
your eyes
when the
arrow
finally
flies

If done in time
Little appreciation
Timely consolation
Small
Encouragement
A pat on the back
A warm hug
A kiss on the
Forehead
A small gift
A sweet smile
A patient hearing
A right advice
Heart felt
Thanks and sorry
Can do wonders
If done in time
Can turn enemy
Into a friend
Motivate people
To do their best
Give solace
To their hearts
Help them achieve
The unachievable
Win people
