I Have Been Writing For All My Life
I HAVE BEEN WRITING FOR ALL MY LIFE
I have been writing for all my life
And soon I will be done
And when I am done
What will be with it all?
You live and you try and you try and you try
And you live as long as you can
And you try, or so you tell yourself, as hard as you can
And what it all amounts to
No one knows.
It is a very very large universe
And I am one small one among the billions who have been here
And the more billions that may be here
And in all the sounds and all the furies
My little words may be quiet as a song that has only the melody of death.

I Am Only One Small Name In A Universe
I AM ONLY ONE SMALL NAME IN A UNIVERSE
I am only one small name in a universe,
Of billions of names-
I am only one small bodily being
Where there are billions of billions-
I am a beginning and an end,
As all living things-
A speck in vast spaces whose specks are uncountable-
No one or nothing need save me
No one or nothing need remember me
No one or nothing billions of years hence
Need smile because I was here.
I am so small I need never to have existed-
I am not even here now,
Whoever is writing this
Lost me a long time ago.

We Live In An Old Universe Of Pain And Sadness
WE LIVE IN AN OLD UNIVERSE OF PAIN AND SADNESS
We live in an old universe of pain and sadness
With billions of deaths behind it
And many billions more to come-
Murders in tons
Cruelties beyond conception-
We live in an old universe of pain and sadness
Of life and death
In which cruelty plays its crucial part-
How much less lonely and more beautiful would our lives be
Could we only dream that all beings were only kind
And all touching of others done with love and gentleness.

Billions and Billions
BILLIONS AND BILLIONS
Billions and billions
Of stars in the sky-
Billions and billions
Of people who die.
Billions and billions
We wonder why-
So much and so many
And all passing by.

The Poem I Am Writing Now
The poem I am writing now
does not know if it will be finished
it does not even know if it will be a poem -
it is slowly appearing line by line
and making its own meaning on the page-
Is it worth anything?
will anyone care?
I don't know -
The poem I am writing now
is just these lines
and these lines like all lines
are only small words
in a vast universe
that has long lived
and will probably longer live
without them.
Why then write these words now?
The poem I am writing now is saying,
'I am here now'.
But why should this mean anything to anyone else?
The poem I have written here
is not the poem I would have posted here
It is only the poem I am finishing now
a poem without great love or belief in itself.
The poem I am writing now
is written.

I Have Given My Life To Writing
I HAVE GIVEN MY LIFE TO WRITING
I have given my life to writing
And forgotten almost all of it
Why should others remember
What I do not?
Lines of great beauty are rare
And poets of greatness more so
Why remember my little lines
When billions beat on forever emptily?

Who To Blame But Myself?
WHO TO BLAME BUT MYSELF?
Who to blame but myself?
I did not even know
I was not doing alright.
Who to blame but G-d
For before I was myself
God made me.
Who to blame
When life does not work out
As we wanted it to?
Ourselves?
God?
Who knows?
I am just one small person
In a universe of billions of living things
Billions already dead.
Why is it so important
What I have done or not done?
Why do I care so much now
When I know I too one day
Perhaps sooner than I expect
I will also not know and care?
Oh God Oh God
What is to be done about all this?

This Life Can Be A Battle
This life can be a battle most live from day to day
And for billions of people 'tis uphill all of the way
Yet the longer that we do live the sooner we will die
And in life not everyone is equal unless you believe the lie
That everyone is born equal though with that I can't agree
That does seem patronizing talk or so 'twould seem to me
So many living in poverty and of hope in despair
Believe me 'tis a rat race in the bigger World out there
This life can be a battle for the billions in poverty
You cannot tell these people about equality
Since they would not listen to you in life they struggle on
And any hope of happiness from them seems to be gone
This life can be a battle life's uphill road is steep
And many homeless people without a bed on which to sleep.

Alone, Writing A Poem With A Song
I was alone listening to a love/sad song
Searching, thinking ideas with imagination
To create a story in a form of a poem
Holding my pen and start writing it down
Since I like the lyrics with meaning so i sing along
Imagine life living alone with only a song
No one to talks to wh hears my opinion
Through song I express my emotion
Writing a poem which replies all my questions
And share to people that would give inspiration.
While writing a poem with a sad song
Something came across my mind
Remembered those things I had in my past
Which never get lost, I hate it but it last
My life which is filled with sufferings, I wish it would cast.
Alone, writing a poem with a sad song
My eyes covered by tears and let it fall
I cried and shout out loud to ease my pain
Just like a cloudy sky and pours as rain.
I keep on repeating the whole song till I finished my poem
Feared to forget the words and its definition
I happened to memorize the lyrics and become a favourite
A song that has been part of my life
And makes me live though I am alone.

Not The Poem Then
NOT THE POEM THEN
Not the poem then
Although it can be the poem
Writing
Simply writing
This is the duty and the meaning
And the release from meaninglessness
And the ‘enabling me to go on’
The poem is only one form of it
It is the writing which matters
My life has been this
This writing
Even if it is a poor poem now
As I write these words
I live.

Life Or Death?
Every day we live, we always face death
We get closer to it, every time we take a breath
Life is special but death brings peace
Life brings reality and things you believe
Death is hard for everyone around
Death is quiet, no more bad sounds
Life is also hard, all the things we go through
Life can never be easy, no matter what you do
Death is sad, for those who cry
Death is meaningful, for those who die
Life is a work of art, it's nice to look
Life is full of teachings, like an open book
Death is the new life, might as well be dead
Death is a lot more, for what's up ahead
Life brings new things, always something new
Life brings surprises, something out the blue
Death is scary, nothing we want to see
Death is negative, a place we don't want to be
Life is full of love, with the ones close to you
Life is full of money, for those who sue
Death is empty, nothing compared to this
Death is a lot of things, too long of a list
But life is everything; don't wait till there's nothing left
Death can wait, so don't waste your last breath
So just pick your choice, which one? Life or death?

Writing On The Wall
Words and music by rick nielsen
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
In the midwest and in the east.
Canada, southwest, around the world,
L.a., tokyo, sounds so sweet,
Come on honey, get on your feet.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
The words were oh, so...
The words were oh, so clear.
All right, I saw the writing on the wall.
All night, I saw the writing on the wall,
I saw the writing on the wall.
Lo and behold, heard it on the radio.
It was a long time comin, but it sounds so sweet, come on, man, get off my back.
Saw it at the airport, it was on t.v.
Read it in a magazine, runnin down the street.
Makes no sense, but I hope its gonna last,
The next big thing, I really gotta laugh.
Worked and slaved and played like hell,
Everybodys goin crazy, youre the last to know.
Cant explain it, still a joke to me,
Maybe Im naive, cause its so plain to see.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Its right in front of your face, man.
Played like hell, whoa!
Played like hell, whoa!

In The Long Run We May All Be Entropy
IN THE LONG RUN WE MAY ALL BE ENTROPY
In the long run we may all be entropy-
At the end of the end
We may all be scattered dust-
Ultimately after billions and billions of years
Our earth and our sun and our galaxy
may disappear -
But now
in this small time of our own lives
while we are in the middle still,
Let us love those we love with all our love-
And let us enjoy as deeply as we can the gifts life gives-
And let us be good to one another
And kind as we can be-
Let us find and make blessing of our own time here
Doom or no doom
Final death or no final death-
In our lives
Let us love and be good
with all we have to give.

It Is We Who Are Now
IT IS WE WHO ARE NOW
It is we who are we now
Us in this world as we are now
Which truly matters.
The rest
The billions of years of what will be
Or what was.
All the rest
The billions and billions of people
And minds and nights and galaxies also
All that otherness we will never know
It doesn’t matter.
We as we are in our own lifetimes
With those we love
This is what matters
Only this
Our life our loves
The time we have
Before we won’t have any.

We live on a hunk of rock and metal that circles a humdrum star that is one of 400 billion other stars that make up the Milky Way Galaxy which is one of billions of other galaxies which make up a universe which may be one of a very large number, perhaps an infinite number, of other universes. That is a perspective on human life and our culture that is well worth pondering.

If I Could Only Bear My Own Silence
IF I COULD ONLY BEAR MY OWN SILENCE
If I could only bear my own silence
If I could only be quiet and still
If I could only let the world say itself
Without my commentary,
If I could only be wise enough
To know all my words
‘Vanity of vanity of vanity.
’
Oh again and again and again
As now
I must say that I am -
But in this world of billions now
And billions more before
And billions more after
Why me?
Why my name?
‘Vanity of vanities’
All aloud again.

Perhaps, in retrospect, there would be little motivation even for malevolent extraterrestrials to attack the Earth; perhaps, after a preliminary survey, they might decide it is more expedient just to be patient for a little while and wait for us to self-destruct.

I Come Alive In Writing
I come alive in writing
Even if the writing means nothing to anyone else-
I come alive in writing
Even if I am totally deluding myself as to its value-
I come alive in writing
Even if at times while writing there is an underlying hopelessness and despair -
I come alive in writing
As if writing is what God has given me to do-
I come alive in writing
As if through it I can truly give to and help others-
I come alive in writing
As if life has meaning through it-
I come alive in writing
Even when I sense the writing is not good or great
As I would wish it to be.

Writing The Words
I’m writing this at your funeral.
As I watch all the people in tears.
I wish I could join them,
But I know I have to be strong.
I’m writing this on my hand,
No paper to get it down on.
I want to remember your funeral,
So I’m writing this to honour you.
I’m writing the thoughts that pop into my head,
Making sure they are only the best.
I have to remember,
Because I couldn’t live with myself if I ever forgot.
I’m writing this at your funeral,
As people dropp flowers onto your coffin.
I stand up to dropp my own,
Blue, unlike the others, because I know it’s your favourite.
I’m writing this through the ceremony,
Because if I listen to the words I’ll cry.
And I know I can’t, for you,
I have to keep it together.
I’m writing the words I want to say,
To make people remember how much love you gave.
Because I want them to know,
How much of it you gave to me.
So, I’m writing this at your funeral,
To stop myself from shedding a tear.
I’m writing this at your funeral,
So that I never ever forget you.

Dear Friend
i always love to write, as early as
gradeschool when we were classmates
while you were playing and chasing and stumbling
i just sat on the grass of the playground under a tree and scribble anything
and read a lot about some stories with lots of pictures
and colors of fairies and kings and queens and butterflies and bees,
i do not stop writing, in fact, writing has become my life
that without words i may die an instant death
i dream that i have written novels and stories and lots of poems
i wake up with some ideas like some seeds that i want to sow
and grow in the field and see them become shrubs and trees and forests
and i keep on this life writing and writing and writing and writing
for writing's sake and i wish i may live longer so i may write
some more, some sequels of my love stories and suspense thrillers
and write finally all the poems that are inside my mind
hanging like ripe grapes and creeping like vines on my fence
as i am writing now as you always want to read me
until such time my friend that i will die, or end my life myself (who knows?)
(i will not talk about it now, it is something bizarre and makes me
shiver, but who knows, well you know, all are but possibilities and nothing
but possibilities in this vast wide world of realities and dreams)
there is something i must say somehow
there is something that i must have forgotten, i have not written about myself
i have always written about them, about you, about the world,
please do not refuse me, stop playing with your life,
gradeschool ended
a long time ago, i have one and ultimate request:
write the story of my life, because it is you who only knows about it.

We Can Enjoy Your God Given Write
Writing down your thoughts cleanses the soul,
It can help lift you out of life's goldfish bowl,
Though your words can enrage they may also console,
Never give up the fight.
Life is a challenge for those given the chance,
Your own and others you must try to enhance,
By writing what you feel your spirit you'll enhance,
You will also never lose sight.
You must never be afraid of honest critique,
Though some can make your future feel bleak,
Everyone in life has their troubles to seek,
The written word can and will bite.
Who's to say any poem is better than yours,
Words from the heart are usually what lures,
Others personal opinions are not what obscures,
The writers own inner light.
Never be put off by what people may say,
Some live their lives just to cause others affray,
You will live to fight another day,
Let the fire inside you ignite.
Criticism and praise can help you to learn,
As long as you show all others concern,
Both are attributes we all have to earn,
Your writing at times will incite.
Just remember your poems can cause distress,
If done truthfully your writing you can honestly express,
Regardless of whether it causes duress,
You'll have no need to feel uptight.
The written word can and does bring us joy,
As a weapon it can also be used to destroy,
If you just try your best not to annoy,
‘' We Can Enjoy Your God Given Write ‘'
