Vanity Brute
Whenever some friend praised
That my poetry is good
Fuddled; I raise my hand
To check for horns on head
Satisfied; I bruit abroad
“Well! Well! So far so good
Vanity brute hasn’t gone to head
I am still your kind
Eligible to coyly tread
Along with you; ahead”

So Good So Right
This one is special for all the ladies
You never know I was that type of man
So good so right so good so, so good so
right so good so
So good so right so good so, so good so
right so good so
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
But you keep on watching the time,
Wondering what's on my mind
So you say you can't stay too long, cause
You know what I'm all a...
What I'm all about, what I'm all about
I don't have to sing and shout, what I'm
All about
You know what I'm all about
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Yes it's the truth it's the fact, I'm coming
To you straight from
The back in a mastering room style
Don't be shy, don't you lie, look into my
Eye
I'll tell you why, I'll teach you about
Feeling high
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Never before have you seen this, so I say
This feeling sink within my head, oh yea,
Oh yea
Never before have you believe it, so I mean
What I say
You just got to be yourself
Feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
Yea, feel so good about something so
Right could it last another night
A feel so good about something so right
A feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
So good so right so good so, so good so
Right so good so
So good so right so good s, so good so
Right so good so
Yes it is the strife of my life, to explain
What's in my brain
If you believe what I say, baby, baby
A check in, check in, check check, check in
Check in
Check in, check in, check in, a check in,
Check in, check into my hotel
A feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
A feel so good about something so right
Could it last another night
So good, so right, so good, so right, so
Good, so right
So right, I feel so good could it last
Another night
A feel so right could it last another
Night
A feel so good something so right, so
Good
Lord, I said I feel so right
A feel so good, oh could it last another
Night
A feel so right, oh could it last another
Night
A feel so good oh could it last another
Night
A feel so right oh could it last another
Night
So good, o right, so good, so right, so
Good, so good, so right

Put Your Hand Inside The Puppet Head
As your body floats down third street
With the burn-smell factory closing up
Yes its sad to say you will romanticize
All the things youve known before
It was not not not so great
It was not not not so great
And as you take a bath in that beaten path
Theres a pounding at the door
Well its a mighty zombie talking of some love and posterity
He says the good old days never say good-bye
If you keep this in your mind:
You need some lo-lo-loving arms
You need some lo-lo-loving arms
And as you fall from grace the only words you say are
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Ads up in the subway are the work of someone
Trying to please their boss
And though the guys a pig we all know what he wants
Is just to please somebody else
If the pu-pu-puppet head
Was only bu-bu-busted in
It would be a better thing for everyone involved
And we wouldnt have to cry
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Memo to myself: do the dumb things I gotta do
Touch the puppet head
Quit my job down at the carwash
Didnt have to write no-one a good-bye note
That said, the checks in the mail, and
Ill see you in church, and dont you ever change
If the pu-pu-puppet head
Was only bu-bu-busted in
Ill see you after school
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside the puppet head
Put your hand inside

A Good Friend She Was
A good friend she was
Would be there for me
Through ups or downs
A good friend she was.
A good friend she was
We laughed and had fun
Her smile was the best
A good friend she was.
A good friend she was
Her caring was amazing
Her love of life showed
A good friend she was.
A good friend she was
Kept her spirits up in pain
Never showed her hurts
A good friend she was.
A good friend she was
Even up until the end
Put my hand on her heart
A good friend she was.
A good friend she was
I will treasure the memories
Of all the joy we shared
A good friend she was.

Ch 02 The Morals Of Dervishes Story 08
A great man was praised in an assembly and, his good qualities being extolled, he raised his head and said: ‘I am such as I know myself to be.’
O thou who reckonest my virtues, refrainest from giving me pain,
These are my open, and thou knowest not my hidden, qualities.
My person is, to the eyes of the world, of good aspect
But my internal wickedness makes me droop my head with shame.
The peacock is for his beauteous colours by the people
Praised whilst he is ashamed of his ugly feet.
What It Takes To Be A Good Friend
A good friend is always kind,
Should always speak their mind,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.
A good friend is there for you,
They are real, they are true- blue,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.
A good friend will be there when you marry,
A heart full of memories, they will carry,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.
They'll be there if your father dies,
They'll weep with you when you cry,
Their compassion should never end,
That's what it takes to be a good friend.
If a good friend you do find,
Make sure they treat you kind,
Understanding they shouldn't lack,
And they would never stab you in the back,
On top of everything always remember,
A best friend is forever.

Raise Your Hand
Great, great broad, miss janis joplin, please!
If there's something you need,
Hon that you've never, ever, ever had.
And i know you've never had it.
Oh, honey, don't you just sit there crying,
Don't just sit there feeling bad.
No, no, no.
You'd better get up,
Now, don't you understand ?
And raise you hand.
I said, raise, raise your hand.
You know i'm standing about, yes i am.
And i want to give you all my love.
Oh, won't you open up,
I said, open up your heart.
Please let me try.
You'd better be good.
Don't ya understand ?
Raise your hand.
I said, i wanna see it up in the air, babe,
Right here, right now, yeah!
Whoaaaah, yeah!
If you ever, ever need me,
Honey why won't you come and tell me so now ?
Baby if you want to give all of my loving,
I want to let it go.
You'd better be good, don't you understand,
I said raise it, raise it, raise it, raise it,
Raise.
Honey honey what it was
Honey honey what it was
Honey honey what it was
Whoaaaah
Whoaaaah
Whoaaaah
Whoaaaah
Alright
Alright
Raise your hand 'cause i want you to come along,
Raise your hand 'cause i want you to move
Honey groove
Come along, baby
Come, said come, come on,
Come, come, come on,
Come, come, come on,
Come, come, come on,
Hey now now now now
Hey now now now now
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand, yeah,
Raise your hand, yeah,
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand, yeah,
Raise your hand, yeah,
Raise your hand, yeah,
Raise your hand, yeah yeah yeah,
You gotta, hey hey,
You gotta, hey hey,
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand
Raise your hand, alright! awww!

Alright, thank you.

What Does Poetry Mean To Me
What does poetry mean to me
What do I get from a poem
Good poetry is a rhapsody
That makes my spirit roam
What does poetry mean to me
What do I get from an ode
Good poetry is the world to me
It is the mother lode
What does poetry mean to me
What do I get from a verse
Good poetry makes my soul soar free
And lifts the darkest curse
What does poetry mean to me
A sorry sonofabitch
Good poetry grabs me by the balls
And makes my life seem rich
What does poetry mean to me
An ageing U3Aer
Good poetry takes me back to youth
To when I was a player
What does poetry mean to me
A frustrated would-be bard
Good poetry trips not off my pen
It’s far too blooming hard
The Two-Sided Man
Much I owe to the Lands that grew--
More to the Lives that fed--
But most to Allah Who gave me two
Separate sides to my head.
Much I reflect on the Good and the True
In the Faiths beneath the sun,
But most to Allah Who gave me two
Sides to my head, not one.
Wesley's following, Calvin's flock,
White or yellow or bronze,
Shaman, Ju-ju or Angekok,
Minister, Mukamuk, Bonze--
Here is a health, my brothers, to you,
However your prayers are said,
And praised be Allah Who gave me two
Separate sides to my head!
I would go without shirt or shoe,
Friend, tobacco or bread,
Sooner than lose for a minute the two
Separate sides of my head!

Go Ahead On
(madeline bell / dusty springfield)
If youre gonna break my heart
Go ahead on
Guess you think youre kinda smart
Go ahead on
(well youve got another girl)
And youre having fun
(got her head in a whirl)
See what youve done
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
I said go ahead on
(go ahead on)
You never call me on the phone
Make me so sad
Sittin all alone
Feelin bad
(tired of being your fool)
cause you told me lies
(I cant take no more)
Of no alibi
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
For a little while
We had a good thing goin
Everything was peaches and cream
But the devil in you started showin
Do you understand now
What I mean?
You put me down
Every night
If you wanna be a clown
Thats all right
(when its all too late)
Then youll see
(shes done the same to you)
Like you did it to me
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
You put me down
Every night
If you wanna be a clown
Thats all right
(when its all too late)
Baby youll see
(shes done the same to you)
Like you did it to me
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Git, git, git
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Youd better pack your bag
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on
(go ahead on)
Bye, bye, bye
(go ahead on)
Go ahead on

Forever Hasn't Got Here Yet
Girl whatcha talkin' 'bout, I ain't believin' this
I ain't settlin' for none of this foolishness
We can't let a sure thing drown in a puddle of doubt
It's just some rocky road but we've got solid ground
It's just a little bump we can work around
We've got a lifetime ahead so don't go quittin' me now
Come on baby we're still together
This ain't as good as it's gonna get
I swore I'd love you 'til the end of forever
And forever hasn't got here yet
Does it matter girl who's really right or wrong
This ain't the kinda thing we should sleep on
I say we start it all over tonight with a kiss
So slide over here mamma, it's gonna be alright
Let's write it off as just another angry night
I like it better when we're makin' up like this
Come on baby we're still together
This ain't as good as it's gonna get
I swore I'd love you 'til the end of forever
And forever hasn't got here yet
Come on baby we're still together
This ain't as good as it's gonna get
I'll still love you 'til the end of forever
And forever hasn't got here yet
I'll still love you 'til the end of forever
And forever hasn't got here yet
No it hasn't got here yet

Staples
Cause it hasn't been that long
since you almost hit the tree.
Cause it hasn't been that long
since you hit the pole because of speed.
Do you remember
the ambulance it took you there?
Do you remember
they cut your pants your favorite pair?
They shaved your head.
Where's all your hair.
The doctor said,
"We need some staples for his head."
The doctor said,
"Another foot you could be dead."
The doctor said,
"We need some staples for his head."
The doctor said,
"You should have took the bus instead."
All you could hear
was kachunk, kachunk, kachunk.
All you could hear
was the doctor putting staples in this punk.
He could have died that day.
Which means that he would not be here.
He would have gone away,
friends and family we'd shed our tears.
But the good thing would be
is that we would always know.
He would be living
with Jesus Christ in his new home.

Gasmask Revival
Yeah! Youll have to wear this my friend
Youll have to throw rocks once again
Hurry up get yourselves together
Because its for now and for the future
Hold your breath, control your fear
Remember why youre here
Everything else will go wrong
Unless this has settled down
Just keep it in mind
Its a good day to express yourself
Its a nice day to raise hell as well
Thats the way Im feeling too
Youre waiting here and you dont have a clue
Beyond the fence theyre watching you
And there is not much you can do
We are saying no more lies
Tear gas wont make us cry
Stand for your right and yell my son
And dont forget what they have done
No, Im no more a good citizen and never was
Its a good day to express yourself
Its a nice day to raise hell as well
I got hit by a rock on the head
And now Im seeing red

Early Works - Tooter
For Maurice Callard
The Great Gatsby in his forte
from the old man’s tears
to a group twinkling in the garden.
Alas, this is not my exercise,
I am supposing to big head the tooter.
I am supposing to what?
Oh yes, what he represents to me.
Well, let me see
a fellow author, a good-looking fellow.
Yes, I would agree with these.
Now what about his bad points?
You say he hasn’t any.
Well just one or two.
What are they you ask?
You cannot think of any at the moment.
Well, never mind we’ll discuss the good points in some depth.
A fellow author.
Well, yes, he is good in fact,
some might even say quite brilliant.
A good-looking fellow.
Well, with the romantic look of Robert Redford
and ruggedness of Clint Eastwood
need I say anymore?
A good teacher,
I don’t think there are any complaints.
Look, I’ve been going for five years,
but maybe I’m a slow learner!
A very helpful fellow.
Yes, I would agree with this.
I agree with anything,
but above all my comedy
and jest my work purposes.
I find him a good friend and honest critic
no author could ask for more.
25 March 1981
Authors Note:
This was written tongue-in-cheek about my good friend for nearly twenty years. When I read this out at one of his classes, everyone had a good laugh including Maurice himself. To me he was not only a teacher, friend but at times a surrogate father as my own father had no time for my writing. Although he is no longer with us all who knew him, miss him.

Outta Your Head
All the way back in history
how the girl thinks is a mystery
spent our lives cruising the bars
venus girls and the men from mars
So in all this time did you ever think do the girls sees red
when a man sees pink
and your best lovin is in the past and cause somewhere slow is nowhere fast
Your Outta your head
so out of your head
stay out of your head...
your out of your head
so out of your head
bricka bracka firecracker sis boom bah
here comes trouble in a push up bra
his style is sharp as a coffin tack
but out of your box and your way off track
your a mile away on a mental binge
your catasphrophe is of a lunatic fringe
your still put together its tit for tat
you say its all good but its more than that
Your Outta your head
so out of your head
stay out of your head.........
No out of your head
so out of your head
stay out of your head
So in all this time did you ever think think think think
Your Outta your head
so out of your head
stay out of your head.........
No out of your head
so out of your head
stay out of your head

Come out
My sincere prayers
Coming from different layers
Inner outer core of heart
Feeling very nice from start
Ways different but not to part
You got to recover
Not to suffer
You may differ
Still I offer
My sincere prayer
There is good saying
Attention always paying
Foundation stone laying
For better relation and understanding
Good carrying words but not offending
You got to come out
No to simple fallout
Nothing to think about
Think of good future
Good feelings to nurture
You have to march ahead
Cool mind with straight head
Nothing to worry
Not in hurry
Not to feel sorry
You may come out of shock
Sound may not stop from clock
It will not block
Your straight path
If you retain good faith
What else one can pray?
Will it pay?
With new hope and bright ray
You may go ahead and find
Very good people around and very kind
So come out of sick mind
Ways and means find
Shower the love and blessings
You will find world with you
Only trust in Thou

Differences between a Good Friend and a Bad Friend
A good friend would wait for you;
So you could both walk to the bus;
A bad friend would just leave impatient;
“I’d rather go hang with Gus.”
A good friend would help with a chore;
Even if it’s taking out the trash;
A bad friend would just smirk;
“If only you gave me cash.”
A good friend would listen;
To whatever you have to say;
A bad friend would cover your mouth;
“Quit blabbering away! ”
A good friend would say “Come on over.”
Whenever you feel like you’re alone;
A bad friend would yell at your face;
“Just go on back home! ”
A good friend would phone;
To ask how you are;
A bad friend wouldn’t care;
“Wanna go to the bar? ”
A good friend will cheer you up;
Whenever you feel sad;
A bad friend would laugh;
“Well, that’s just too bad.”
A good friend would stand up for you;
When blamed for a crime;
A bad friend would walk away;
“Oh look at the time.”
A good friend would come to your funeral;
And leave flowers in your wake;
A bad friend would blow it off;
“It was his mistake! ”

Love Me - Love My Poetry
I once wrote some poetry - the best,
the finest POETRY
My POETRY came with a capital
"P".
My POETRY was distinguished
POETRY, proper, complete line of
Verse POETRY - honorable,
prehistoric, geographical POETRY
Divine, instinctive, even religious
POETRY -
I sent it to the magazines
The very good magazines
The very best magazines -
They returned it to me every time!
I once wrote some inferior POETRY
Low in style, irregular in measure
POETRY
Undignified, trivial, absurd POETRY
inadequate, mischievous, comic
POETRY
Some stuff like this - A CRIME -
I sent it to the magazines
The very good magazines
The very best magazines
They kept it every time!
Now, I ask of you - my question is
fair and brief - I ask
Of you - your ear I pray and beg you
give -
Shall I write intuitive,
comprehensive, reasoning
POETRY
Specific, Godlike, Capitol
committed POETRY
The sort I think will live?
Or shall I write inferior, very bad
POETRY - the kind that soon is
Dead - and send it to the magazines,
the very good, the best magazines
THAT I MAY LIVE INSTEAD!!!

Success has name
Each success has name
Women are there to claim
Stands like rock behind
Firm but very much kind
Right from wife
To show the meaning of life
To give a company with courage
How best both the ends to meet and manage!
Delightful figure to a small child
Stick on hand but at heart good and mild
No one can control her when turned wild
If honor and pride was to be seen as blind
As daughter too shown enough of affection
No protest to any one if beaten with reaction
Not only equal love to father, mother and brothers
But around all who live in vicinity and as neighbors
Good teacher, good economist and now good administrator
Right from councilor to chief minister and prime minister
Has served the head of the nation and now liberty torch bearer
Women can lead honorable life without any fear
Sky they have explored and proved good scientists
Stood as solid rock and faced rough weather amidst
So to say bow the head to the feat of glorious mother
Be she a lover, friend, sister or in form of any other

Good Love
Everytime I get to see you
I get this feelin
Its so fuzzy inside
And as soon as I walk away from you
Im still tasting your kiss
Saving it in my mind
Its not everyday I find
A guy that makes me smile all the time
Not the way that you do
All the guys I thought I used to love
Compared to you they dont match up
They got nothing on you
I think I found a good good good love
The kind that will put it on you
The kind that you wanna hold on to
I think I found a good good good love
We can be lovers and friends too
And theyll do anything for you
A good love
Baby you got somethin special
That has me thinking of settling down
Youre the one my mama told me
Would sooner or later one day finally come around
I think I found a good good good love
The kind that will put it on you
The kind that you wanna hold on to
I think I found a good good good love
We can be lovers and friends too
And theyll do anything for you
A good love
I think I found a good good good love
The kind that will put it on you
The kind that you wanna hold on to
I think I found a good good good love
We can be lovers and friends too
And theyll do anything for you
A good love
You bring me joy
And you bring me much pleasure
I could never see myself leaving you ever
Your soft touch is good and it cant get no better
You have got my mind so caught up
Im drunk off of your good love
I think I found a good good good love
The kind that will put it on you
The kind that you wanna hold on to
I think I found a good good good love
We can be lovers and friends too
And theyll do anything for you
A good love
