ODYSSEY
Glowing like a precious nugget
Straight, taut and his bust thrusted out
Head held high and eyes glittering
As if gazing at a burning wick
Looking like a possessed maverick
He is carrying on his ceaseless walk
The path is rugged and briary
From distance the access road
In a misty mirage shroud
Looks like a blind alley
But when he reached the invious end
The thickets are clearing away
As if he said ‘open sesame’
A jewel-hooded ophidian
Following the steadfast pedestrian
Like a crawling lightning
Though not to his sentience
Floating in air before his face
Fairies with mystical grace
Inveigling him to come close
And immerse in their sensual embrace
Piercing through the earth
A thousand hands uncouth
From abyssal depths
Are trying to pull his legs
And hedge his esoteric urge
Long ago he overcame his five senses
And conquered the six evil Nymphs
His body is just his golden cage
His soul, he well realized
As part of His grand whole
At last is all set to get a release
It is too late for the mundane lures
To intercept his unswerving forage
Having waned under his waxing lore
Nothing is going to stop his odyssey
Nirvana, his destiny, is in proximity

The Goal
ON the grey levels of the plain of life
When, slowly swirled,
The moving hills of morning mist
Hedged in the world—
While yet undared the path of toil and strife,
I found a friend
Whose faith I pictured would persist
Until the end.
Then peered the stooping sun across the plain—
The world he kissed;
In sudden glory shimmering
Flamed all the mist!
The sullen Darkness carried off his slain,
And straight away,
Like a forefinger beckoning,
The white road lay.
Her hand in mine, upon the path we pressed;
Together shared
The flowers we plucked—to find them pain;
And forward fared
Till we stood radiant on the mountain crest;
And still ahead,
Dipping to pleasant depths of plain,
The white road led.
But when I urged her onward to the end
Her heart peered out
Upon the road's unswerving leap
In dizzy doubt.
“Nay, we have reached the highest, why descend?”
Her lips demurred—
And with us, gazing at the steep,
There stood a third.
Her eyes clasped his in an embrace of love.
Said they: “No more;
Here on the crest is our abode,
Our journey o'er;
The goal for you!” So, leaving them above,
I went alone—
And still the arrow of the road
Sped on, straight on!
But darker and more desolate the way,
Until I turned—
Lo, in the halo of the sun
The lovers burned,
High on the mountain-top! Ah, what if they,
By passion kissed,
The goal of life and love have won,
And I have missed?

God gave a Christian a mission,
A sacred destiny!
When greeted with derision,
He offered clemency!
He reached out with his loving hands
Extending Heaven's grace,
Yet people laughed at God's commands
And laughed in this man's face...
But he continued in God's love,
Such that the years rolled by,
Such that God proved His grace enough
And held his head up high...
But one day came when things went wrong,
Such that the poor man wept,
No longer with a faith so strong,
In fact, he hardly slept...
He thought God's ministry was done,
Support had waned away,
That's when he knelt before God's Son
And prayed both night and day...
God heard his prayer and He wept, too,
Then stirred the hearts of men!

Lord, please tune my ears so that they may hear
Words spoken by you that I count so dear
Then open my eyes so that they may see
Opportunities for You to work through me

And please equip my hands to reach and do
Some small work of love and kindness for You
