A Dictionary
An eager beginner’s trusted cicerone
In the gossamer of abecedarian warrens
An ever-flowing brook beside a book-worm
Slaking his never-ending thirst for a fresh idiom
A writer’s permanent bed-side companion
Blooming in him, on and on,
Novel thought-jasmines
And a poet’s handy spice-box of imagery
For ready use in his verse-cuisine
It’s nothing but our dear dictionary
A word anew when learned opens the gates
To the splendid new world of ken and acumen
Let us master the word, its usage and spirit
Right and perfect and offer to our fellow men
Our best message, sweet, yet candid and straight

Looking For Direction
What does God have to say, have you looked in His Word today?
Where He speaks to men like us, when in Him we place our trust.
However, God will speak to anyone, if you’d like to know His Son,
To know Christ in a personal way, so God can speak to you today.
If you are looking for direction, God’s Word is your best selection,
God’s guide for your daily life, in a world filled with pain and strife.
His Word is more than just advice, as it points all men to New Life.
God left us with His Holy Word, to read anew Truth’s we’ve heard.
God does not leave us all alone, and calls on men to be His own,
He sent The Spirit upon the earth, to give to them a spiritual birth.
The Spirit helps common man, to read The Word and understand,
That The God of all eternity, came to earth to die, for you and me.
God’s Holy Spirit opens eyes, as God changes hearts and minds,
Then He leads men to the place, where they read of God’s Grace.
God’s Word helps us comprehend, what God has done for all men,
That His Son came to earth to die, to provide New Life to you and I.
To some it may be just a book, however it deserves a second look,
The Bible is God’s revelation; God’s Truth revealed to every nation.
Without it many nations perish, without The Word which we cherish.
It is a message from our Creator, to lead us to our Lord and Savior.

The Word
Find the word, understand the word,
Depend on the word;
The word is heaven and space, the word the earth,
The word the universe.
The word is in our ears, the word is on our tongues,
The word the idol.
The word is the holy book, the word is harmony,
The word is music.
The word is magic, the word the Guru.
The word is the body, the word is the spirit, the word is being,
The word Not-being.
The word is man, the word is woman,
The Worshipped Great.
The word is the seen and unseen, the word is the existent
And the non-existent.
Know the word, says Kabir,
The word is All-powerful.
Today... 'The Word
Word of love and the Word made flesh
Word incarnate forever blessed
Word of life and the Word of light
Word of power and Word of might.
Word that was spoken, Word of the Lord
Word of the Law and the Word of God
Word of peace and Word eternal
Word of truth and last Word of all.
Word of wisdom and the Word of healing
Word from heaven, a Word so appealing
Word fulfilling the Word of prophecy
Word of the Spirit and Word of destiny.
Word of exhortation and Word of grace
Word of encouragement and Word of faith
Word of promise and a Word of insight
Word from the beginning and Word of delight.
Word of knowledge and a Word of boldness
Word of peace and the Word of righteousness
Word of the covenant and Word of love
Word of the Father from heaven above.

The Word That Wouldn’t Fit (Fun Poem 25)
A writer’s life is full of woe,
you find a word you like,
then you write something,
and try to fit that word in,
but when you look again.
That word you thought of
it just won’t fit in,
no matter how hard you try it,
that word just will not go.
In a fit of frustration,
you stick it here and there.
Just like jigsaw puzzle
where the pieces will not fit,
so this word will not go anywhere.
In the end you say, “OH heck! ”
Then you put the word
to the back of your mind.
Maybe another day
in another poem,
that word just might fit.
Having said all that,
I’m not betting on it.

Chapter And Verse
I got the dictionary in my hand
But I can't seem to find the word I'm looking for
I've checked every letter, now I'm up to Z
There just ain't anymore
I've got a million choices in my head
If I could only chose the one that says it best
I shelled out a quarter for a greeting card
Now I can't seem to get my pen to do the rest
But I know it all by heart, chapter and verse
I'll quote you any part, every word
But it's so deep inside it can't be heard
I've got the Sunday paper in my hand
And I've been working on the weekly cryptogram
I know there's a message in between the lines
That's the same way I am
I got the crossword puzzle half complete
But now I need another word four letters long
It's just like the way I want a perfect fit
I can settle for less but all of them are wrong
There could be no jealousy over my poetry
It's my weakest quality, no vocabulary
I got the scrabble letters in a pile
But there could never be enough to say it all
I know you don't wanna hear the same old line
So you'll just have the read the writing on the wall

Unused, but perfectly good words
Lonely words, in need of some usage
Perfectly good, yet almost unknown
Let’s take a quick look in my dictionary book
Let’s not leave these words all alone
For example, under A: The word “Abscission”
It’s quite usual to say “leaves fall from the trees”
But we could also say, with utmost precision
We could use a word that we very rarely see
When we say “leaves fall from trees in abscission”
That’s probably the first time… in quite a long time
That word, that means “the natural parting of a leaf from a tree”
That that word, has now… seen the light of day
could become quite common, if used by you and me
I can just hear people exclaiming, as they peer up above
As the fall’s colors fill their vision
“We’re amazed, we’re agog, we’re simply in love
At the trees…in the Fall… in abscission”
We can do it, you and I, we can set this word free
But in our mission, must not show indecision! ! !
We must casually let it drop, in daily conservation, you and me
And this Fall will become filled with “abscission”

the C word
it’s said by women to women
that the most offensive word
(in the english language)
they can be called is
the C word-
this word cannot be uttered by men around women,
it’s said by women to men,
it’s said by men to men
when conversing about the women who told them
amidst other women or
alone
without other women present.
all words stumble round its usage like
a toddler
meandering across a
fresh patch of ice in slippers made of
butter.
as cyanide in your favorite drink or
perhaps something of a barbed wire jockstrap
you know better than to tread that water,
best to swim instead of sink-
but men will call each other this word
like its nobody’s business
especially in england
and it’s laughable
how quickly its forgotten that women still
frequent
these areas said to be inhabited only by those with
penises-
it is still a word isn’t it?
one of many,
whose disgustingness has brought violence with them
for hundreds if not
thousands of years.
so will this word be picked up by women who
feel its usage to be violent, misogynistic & vile,
only then subsequently appropriating it for their own
giving it new meaning?

Fragrance Jasmine ` Vavroovahana Patra
Beautiful silvery woman endowed with a garland of jasmines passes on the way;
The peerless heavenly beauty of the fairy, the fragrance of jasmines brings gay.
Wavy curly crisp hair pervades waves of enchantment;
In poet’s mind plays waves of merriment.
The beauty allures, enthuses the poet with profound pleasure;
Poet’s mind concentrates on the beauty, thinks a beautiful creation is joy for ever.
The Beauty entices with the twinkling of eye;
Poet derives profound pleasure, love affection, gay.
The Beauty is a Deity on Earth;
Is a melodious brook of mirth.
Evaporates the worries, anxieties pervading the fragrance of jasmines with loving conversation for ever;
Beautiful is the creation and unknown creator.
The Beauty of Beauties is the unknown Deity;
Is the Delight of Delights.
God’s omnipresence reveals, pervades through Beauty;
She is a sweet lovely melodious Brook of Delight.

To Her: In Time Of War
Once I made for you songs,
Rondels, triolets, sonnets;
Verse that my love deemed due,
Verse that your love found fair.
Now the wide wings of war
Hang, like a hawk's, over England,
Shadowing meadows and groves;
And the birds and the lovers are mute.
Yet there's a thing to say
Before I go into battle,
Not now a poet's word
But a man's word to his mate:
Dear, if I come back never,
Be it your pride that we gave
The hope of our hearts, each other,
For the sake of the Hope of the World.

Speak The Word
Unsettled hearts
Promise what they cant deliver
Bring me the wine
And the cold night air to clear my head
Gray matter memory house
Master of this trembling flesh
Steady still my doubts
Let me speak the word that precedes bliss
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
These weakened knees
Have not touched ground or pew in ages
I havent bowed my head
I offer thanks to any God or to ask for favors
But watch me now
Im falling down
Praying
To speak the word that precedes bliss
To speak the word
To speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Love love love love love love love love
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word
Let me speak the word

Breaking The Poets Code
To write of each emotion
And so vividly express
Into the mind and heart of others
That all which is written is felt
To tell a simple tale
With such rhythm and colour
That all who come to read it
Swear they to were on the journey
What is this craft called poetry
To which so many aspire
Quietly sitting penning worlds
Flowing each stanza with ease
Like a river across the page
The gentle metaphor graces
Each carefully chosen word
To depict a thought or memory
And express in its verse
That all may feel perhaps see
The word world of a poet
The code of what is writ
Revealed for those who care to see it

The Word I Say
A word is dead
until it's said.
And so I say
my word to you.
And what word is it
I say to you?
I have never had
to think it through.
For it has always been
the word I've said
and will say repeatedly
until I'm dead.
The word I say
is what I feel.
The word you hear
has sweet appeal.
So I give to you
the word I've heard
that always and ever
repeats in my being
like the song of a bird
that sings to its mate
and can't hold back
before it's too late
to hear.
That word is love,
my dear.

Godliness
Riffling through the dictionary
of the mind - or, as the Anglo-Saxons
named it, ‘word-hoard’ -
for a word that exactly matches
what needs to be said,
a word may call out from the page
like that kitten or that puppy
in the pet-shop, which devastatingly
looks you straight in the eye and mutely says
‘Master, treasure me…’
so, the other day, ‘godly’ called to me: as
abbreviated in former times from ‘godlike’;
not a word to suit, say, those fine-minded Hindu pundits
who would want to classify its degrees
of nearness or of distance from the state
of god or gods..
rather, a gentle, misty, English-weather, modest-shining word
which – borrowing a trick from those same
Hindu grammarians – is neither limited, nor unlimited;
or alternatively: is both limited, and unlimited;
allows for small-g god, or big-G God;
allows for frequent changes in the weather;
and thus, will halt at all the stations on the line…
so, stopped in the street by
some presumptuous well-intentioned stranger
with that piercing eye that stoppeth one of three,
enquiring ‘Have you been saved by Jesus yet? ’
we may reply as if we were Dr Johnson
of quirky diction and of his own Dictionary fame,
replying, ‘Sir, my mind has godly inclinations…’
Yes, I’m comfortable with ‘godly’: like
that kitten or that puppy, asking
no more of you than what
shared nature with a smile
feeds and loves..

Word On A Wing
In this age of grand illusion you walked into my life out of my dreams
I dont need another change, still you forced away into my scheme of things
You say were growing, growing heart and soul
In this age of grand illusion you walked into my life out of my dreams
Sweet name, youre born once again for me
Sweet name, youre born once again for me
Oh sweet name, I call you again, youre born once again for me
Just because I believe dont mean I dont think as well
Dont have to question everything in heaven or hell
Lord, I kneel and offer you my word on a wing
And Im trying hard to fit among your scheme of things
Its safer than a strange land, but I still care for myself
And I dont stand in my own light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies like a word on a wing
My prayer flies like a word on a wing
Does my prayer fit in with your scheme of things?
In this age of grand illusion you walked into my life out of my dreams
Sweet name, youre born once again for me
Just as long as I can see, Ill never stop this vision flowing
I look twice and youre still flowing
Just as long as I can walk
Ill walk beside you, Im alive in you
Sweet name, youre born once again for me
And Im ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh, ready to shape the scheme of things
Ooh...
Lord, I kneel and offer you my word on a wing
And Im trying hard to fit among your scheme of things
Its safer than a strange land, but I still care for myself
And I dont stand in my own light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies like a word on a wing
And Im trying hard to fit among your scheme of things
Its safer than a strange land, but I still care for myself
And I dont stand in my own light
Lord, lord, my prayer flies like a word on a wing
My prayer flies like a word on a wing
Does my prayer fit in with your scheme of things?

Having A Good Time
(bliss / kipner)
You read the stars
Everyday in the paper
And believe every word they say
You want to know
If Ill always love you
But I cant see tomorrow today
So, I cant guarantee
A happy ending
The story is always unwinding
But right here and now
It doesnt matter
Are you having a good time
You know that Im no fortune teller
I cant predict
How it will be
You need a love that lasts forever
That far ahead
I just cant see
So, I cant guarantee
A happy ending
I dont know what mightve happen
But this me and you in this situation
Are you having a good time
If everythings perfect
What more could we ask for
Were here and now
Are you having a good time
Youre somewhere off
Into the future
Imagining how it will look
Will we last another chapter
Can we make it last til the end of the book
So, I cant guarantee
A happy ending
The story is always unwinding
But right here and now
It doesnt matter
Having a good time

The First Jasmines
Ah, these jasmines, these white jasmines!
I seem to remember the first day when I filled my hands with
these jasmines, these white jasmines.
I have loved the sunlight, the sky and the green earth;
I have heard the liquid murmur of the river thorough the
darkness of midnight;
Autumn sunsets have come to me at the bend of a road in the
lonely waste, like a bride raising her veil to accept her lover.
Yet my memory is still sweet with the first white jasmines
that I held in my hands when I was a child.
Many a glad day has come in my life, and I have laughed with
merrymakers on festival nights.
On grey mornings of rain I have crooned many an idle song.
I have worn round my neck the evening wreath of bakulas woven
by the hand of love.
Yet my heart is sweet with the memory of the first fresh
jasmines that filled my hands when I was a child.
