Rest, Sedoka

Demand of workers,
for extending rest period,
caused industrial unrest.

Management feared,
rest and unrest both resulted;
fall in productivity.

Opposing Forces

You should want to be,
At your best when tested.

Those who do,
Get no rest to pester.

And those who don't,
Agonize to manifest unrest...
Somewhere allowed.

You should want to be,
At your best when tested.

Those who do,
Get no rest to pester.

And those who don't,
Agonize to manifest unrest...
Somewhere allowed,
To be carried out.

As divisions join opposing forces,
To ensure taxpaid dollars...
Are freely spent by police,
Called to fleece a few folks...
While getting over duty pay to referee.

Rest on their Souls

Rest on those soldiers who fight a way called war,
Like them and loathe them as much as law,
But altogether celebrate the taste of battle
That is pungent on the mouth of the passer-by.

Rest on the lovers of unrest, of cauldron, of stupor,
On the lovely rest that requires our understanding,
A loan has been committed of strength and justice,
Of war and peace, and of law there is one.

Rest all days then and there for always those who die,
For their laughter is smaller when fresh with life,
They want to retreat into the wilderness.
They would love a little loneliness and misery.

Such is martyrdom to those who object,
On the last one warrior who fitted succulence
In his mouth with a chewing action -
The blame is on him, when he will be general.

Easier to Digest

Civil unrest
Civil war
Civil chaos
Or...
My personal favorite,
Civil disobedience!

Which of these has more flavor...
And yet caffeine free?
More taste,
And yet less filling?

'I vote we go with civil unrest!
It's easier to digest...
And maintains that robust appeal.'

Now we are getting somewhere!
And you George...
What would you like?

~Just pass me the vodka!
No rocks! ~

Go to Work!

Go to the score, go to work,
While my feet arouse the comfort
By sitting down, by lying down
And resting.
When do roads build a future?
And when does rest happen to unrest
On the world’s shoulder?
On this part of the body we raise a doubt
Of sudden thought, of a blind attack
On the rest of the world we live in.
This score is leaving its mark
On the real right world.
Go to the end of this world to deliver
Its message as a rainbow does
With splendour.
Go to work on this day!

Courage Gained

Written: 2/16/12
About: DaNaizsha Perez

As I sit here and stare longingly into your pretty eyes
I feel as if I've been living a lie
Wanting what I can't have is tendency number one
It's why I'm writing poetry for you after vowing I was done
On Valentine's Day I wanted to nurture and hold you in my arms
For when you're around me the world can do no harm
But what happens when the girl you want desires someone else
Do you stay quiet keeping your true emotions to yourself
Or do you spill your guts and hope for the best
Hoping for some kind of response to cure the unrest
Unrest from a mind that's obviously obsessed with you
Unrest from a desire that's obviously not new
Whether that response comes in the form of a yes or obviously a no
I will always and forever care about you so
I can never tell you this face to face
So here in my poetry has to be the place
Where I've gained the courage to tell you words long past due
Where I've gained the courage to tell you the words: I love you

Rosa On The Factory Floor

She moves with machinery for the fancy sports car trade.
Part of the industrial process: she sees that they stay made.
She works from early a.m.. they work her to the bone.
When I call her in the evening, shes too tired to lift the phone.
Damned if Ill wait for her, and Ill be damned if I dont.
Damned if I only see that rosa on the factory floor.
Signed on for the duration. they say she came from the east.
With her tool bag and her coveralls, to pay the rent at least.
She doesnt talk with workers on the rest of the line
And over in the canteen, shes alone most of the time.
Somewhere in her history is a lock without a key.
She doesnt trust the management--and she wont trust me.
Were two different animals. we live jungles apart.
She circles round her freedom and I circle round her heart.

It was a major dream come true at last. In many respects, Jerusalem is a very modern and important story about people in a period of transition, with all the unrest that permeates society on the eve of a new century. The big life issues are at stake.

Acidic Sea

The Acidic Sea

All those nice villas along the coast are empty safe for stray cats
and those too poor to live inlands, because the sea stinks like
bouillabaisse gone off. Marine life and sea plants have died out
too much acidity caused by industrial man, and now it is too late
to clean up the mess. Fish in tanks are guarded well and so dear
that only the very rich can afford to eat, say, bacalao; we have to
eat fishcakes that consists of ninety eight percent mashed potatoes,
the rest is cod skin. Cod liver oil is the cure all medicine, it’s very
expensive and only the well off can afford to buy it, and they,
the rich live years longer than the poor. This has raised concern
and social unrest, politicians on the left, insist the poor too has
the right to be given a teaspoon full every morning; mind there is
synthetic cod liver oil on the market, but it tastes awful. Seagulls
and terns have adopted well have earth hued feathers, sit in carob
trees, sharp eyed keep and eye for scarps of food and scare tiny
tots with their inane pirate shrieks. From safe distant, when wind
is calm, and on romantic, moonlit nights, the sea looks as beautiful
as described by marine biologists in fairytale books.

Sneaky People

Sneaky people are seldom direct.
They are the ones who whisper into ears of others,
To effect destruction at the cost of someone's happiness.
The 'sneaks' are looking for something that stirs unrest.
Since they believe their own deceits.
And they spread this like a diseasing pest at their best.
You know the rest.
Sneaky people will smile and grin and do someone in!
And wont suspect this to be shown and known.

Fewer Questions To Ask

The more my mind expands,
Into a broadening clarity that connects...
I see how easy it is for many to invest,
Their time in unrest and acceptance of evilness.

In seems those choices are purposely met and kept,
To perpetuate and manifest as necessities.
Since those who are left asleep to stay that way,
Have fewer questions to ask or demand to be answered.

First day

I see you found my underground
Help yourself to guns and ammo
Nothing here has ever seen the light of day
I leave it in my head

It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life

You'll remember me, for the rest of your life
You'll remember me, for the rest of your life

It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life
It's the first day of the rest of your life

Domino

Dining on the minus sign.
Dollars dwindling.
Leaving many to feel swindled.
And the pressures of the times grind.
People try to dismiss the pissed feeling.
'Issues' carried seek others to use!
To dump confusing abusive excuses.
Domino...
The slow fall comes,
To those perplexed.
Domino...
Shows upon those doorsteps.
As the stumbling to avoid,
A growing unrest...
Knocks to shatter a peace that's kept,
With foreclosures to consume,
Consumers of their valuables...
Along with dwellings they treasured,
As their safety net of nests!
Domino takes.
And leaves nothing for them left!
Gone are family heirlooms...
Auctioned with the rest!

Just Like All The Rest.

Just like all the rest, oh girl what have you been through. How can you say such things when you don't know. Hasn't he told you. I'm a train wreck. A man looking for a little substance in my life. And again you say like all the rest. Girl you must be so blessed to say that to me. For i know what i need and so must you. Cataclysmic was the time when we met. I was weak, so were you. I was looking for somebody. So were you. Still i hear you say just like all the rest. I must confess. When worlds collide. And tears fall that we try to hide. Always the better person. So rehearsed. So well versed. I can say just like all the rest. You left in such a mess. And you will still never know. You got to give someone a chance before you just let go. Just like all the rest are words i shall never forget.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Wanderer's Night Songs. (From Goethe)

I.
Thou that from the heavens art,
Every pain and sorrow stillest,
And the doubly wretched heart
Doubly with refreshment fillest,
I am weary with contending!
Why this rapture and unrest?
Peace descending
Come ah, come into my breast!

II.
O'er all the hill-tops
Is quiet now,
In all the tree-tops
Hearest thou
Hardly a breath;
The birds are asleep in the trees:
Wait; soon like these
Thou too shalt rest.

The Day of Unrest

There ain't enough of strikes an' things,
There ain't enough of strife,
There ain't enough dislikes an' things
In this 'ere modern life:
'Ow can we 'ope to 'ave unrest
When blokes don't know that they're oppressed?

On Sundees they enjoy theirselves,
An' rush from trams an' trains
When they could best employ theirselves
Be strikin' off their chains:
'Ow can we bid their chains begone
When blokes don't know they got 'em on?

Give us a chance to speak with 'em,
An' tell 'em 'ow they're cursed.
Give us an hour a week with them
So they can know the worst.
'Ow can the crowd know they are slaves
Unless the agitator raves?

The people's too contented, like,
Too much inclined to smile;
An' views should be presented like
To make 'em scowl a while.
Let's 'ave a day of real unrest
Just once a week for the oppressed.
