A view of the queue...............

I'm sitting outside a café
as my feet are killing me
from walking too much,
I've heavy bags and it's hot.

I watch a queue for Vue - Cinema,
they're showing Avatar.
The queue is getting longer
and people start to sweat.

A couple of guys down the front
start making whooping noises,
loudly, like they're apes.
I don't get it, at first,

but then I notice they're behind
a black man and they're
gesticulating to him.
I begin to feel uneasy.

The black man is big and stocky,
he ignores the thugs
but they won't stop.
People in the queue do nothing.

There's an old couple standing
next to the black guy.
The old lady starts to fidget,
she moves towards her husband.

The queue still does nothing
and the black guy stands stock still,
like a ship that's sailed into harbor
big and grand and masterful.

His invisible flag is flying high
and he stands there proud and firm.
The little old lady is still fidgeting
and the thugs are making ape noises.

The black man does nothing
and the queue does nothing.
Me, I watch from the café
and I do nothing, I'm scared.

People passing by start to gawp
start to stare and the queue does nothing
The little old lady starts to shake,
she's looking pale. She fidgets.

I get up from my seat in the café,
I will have to walk past the queue,
the thugs and the black guy.
Instead I walk right up to them.

I go up to the biggest thug,
say, "excuse me for interrupting".
Then I pick up my very large bag
and swipe his evil face with it.

I didn't know I had it in me,
I'm that sort of woman!
I'm shaking; He staggers back;
__________ and does nothing.

Q

I join the queue
We move up nicely.

I ask the lady in front
What are we queuing for.
'To join another queue,'
She explains.

'How pointless,' I say,
'I'm leaving.' She points
To another long queue.
'Then you must get in line.'

I join the queue.
We move up nicely.

Dead End Job

Words and music by The Police
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
The queue gets longer everyday
I just ain't no time to stay
I ain't gonna run away
All I want to do is play
Don't wanna be no teacher
I don't wanna be no slave
I don't wanna work no assembly line
A' like my uncle Dave
The queue gets longer everyday
I just ain't got time to stay
I ain't gonna run away
All I wanna do is play
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
The queue gets longer everyday
All I wanna do is play
I just ain't got time to stay
But I ain't gonna run away
Don't wanna be no millionaire
Don't wanna own no mint
I don't wanna be no tax exile
And I don't mind being skint
The queue gets longer every day
I just ain't got time to stay
I ain't gonna run away
All I wanna do is play
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
I don't want no dead end job
I don't wanna be no number
The queue gets longer everyday
I just ain't no time to stay
I ain't gonna run away

Ant's Queue

ANTS’ QUEUE

A demon garbed as human
Raped a lame and naive woman
The earth didn’t crack

Maimed was a common man
When for justice he raised slogans
Heavens didn’t go down

Goes on the long ant’s queue
Even when one ant is trampled
Under savage hooves

No stopping; no looking back
No nerve to swerve; to rebel
They yearn to live; to survive
As long as they can with no strife
No airs about their ancestors
Who together slew a vile serpent

Care not of what they can attain
United when they retaliate
Plead they, with dour candour
“Ants cannot fight wild beasts”

Goes on the long ant’s queue

A life of standing and waiting

Standing in the bus queue
it's twenty minutes late again
when you get on the bus is full
public transport what a pain.
Standing in the post office
fifteen minutes just for a stamp
stood in a long line of people
now my back hurts it must be cramp.
Standing at the railway station
waiting for a train that's been delayed
and when it finally bothers to arrive
we're told there's an engine fault I'm afraid.
Standing in a queue outside the cinema
been looking forward to this film all day
but after waiting patiently for half an hour
I'm told it's now full so I have to go away.
Standing about and queueing is what we do
I wonder if it's like this in Heaven when you pass away?
knowing my luck I'll be in a long line of people
only to be told your in the wrong place so go away!

To be left out in the blue

They came in numbers
In big figures

Drawing a long line
Like flocking to the shrine

I stood under the trees near the park
Looking and figured what went wrong with my luck

Why I wasn’t in the same line
Queue for so long but still feeling so fine

With their hands holding the cards
Cashing out new notes that’s so hard

Smells anew
Only a few

Like me who’re not in the queue
Would be left out in the blue

Cuz I don’t have the card
To make the cut

How Kin Ye No Get a Single Fish in a Glezga Chippie?

'Can I just have a single fish? i.e. just ONE, not TWO? '
This simplest dietary wish, was holding up the queue.
'Am sorry, a single fish is aye two! Are you friggin' huvvin' a laugh?
Even if ye huv a simple Fish Supper, ye're still getting one and a half! '
'But two fish is too much fur me' said Anetta, 'The fat joost goes straight tay ma hips.
One and a half wi' nay batter is better, but I really don't want any chips'
The queue was soon catching that trouble was hatching.
The hungry man's patience could not see the joke.
'Oi missis, if this is whit huzs yer brain scratching,
buy the single, eat wan, 'n leave wan in the poke! '
Unflustered, she mustered another suggestion, 'Hauf a single? ' the strange request came.
'Oh fur God's sake...Aw right, anythin' else ya wee $hite? '
'Aye! Ma wee brother here, wants the same! '

Thank You For...

Thank you for walking
Thank you for spending one day,
With a stranger
Good morning. hello! choose a color, carnation
Well walk along.
Down round the pond, up the hill bricks and steeples
Its not all gone... I recall
Thank you for walking
Thank you for spending one day,
With a stranger
Thank you for talking
And showing the way to a stranger
Wining and dining (what a september)
From bags by the river ( I shouldve worn a sweater)
A sun, sail, song (its cooler up here)
We sat on a wall (oh my)
Rest our feet (just a little longer)
Touch our noses
Then slow poke on... oh, I recall
One red carnation
The color for april
And apples
And wine
I suppose it was white... but I needed the rhyme.
As I packed up to leave oh, I noticed the fountain,
The statues hand.
There in her bronzed, moistened, palm
Red carnation
Without you there... I recall

World's Slope

Try to solve the mystery
Go through world's history
And discover the clue
That's hidden in queue
And try to find the reply
And answers of the WHY
That come as to us in hope
Slipping through world's slope
And know that it is true
And hard to find the hue
That's hidden in an hour
That show us day's power
And tell us how to survive
In each moment of life
And now to discover clue
That is hidden in queue
Go through world's history
To solve this world's mystery.

What Are We Doing

What am I doing in a place like this
When its painfully clear that my face dont fit?
What am I doing acting identikit,
When all I want to do is to be the opposite?
Why am i, why are you,
Whos pretending just whos fooling who
Do we go our way or join in their merry queue.
What are we doing in the pouring rain
Walking hand in hand, I gotta be out of my brain.
What are we doing, is it all for show
Are we drifting along, going along with the flow.
I dont know, I wish I knew
Is it me or you whos fooling
What a bore, wheres the door
Are we just for decoration?
What am I doing to you?
What are you doing to me too?
What are they doing to us?
Someone help me, tell me truly.
What are we doing in a place like this
Trying to prove to the world that we really exist
Standing around with all the egotists
Sticking out like a zit knickers all in a twist.
Why are we? I dont know,
Are we merely going with the flow
To prove, who we know
Or drifting along acting a part in a show?
Why am I going through this?
Why are you going through this too?
What are they doing to us?
Someone help me, tell me truly.
So do we go our own way
Or do we join their merry queue
Pretending its o.k.
Them or us, whos fooling who?
Why are we standing in the acid rain
Watching industrial waste trickling down the drain?
What are we doing under the nuclear glow
What we all gonna do? where we all gonna go?
What are we doing?
What are we doing?

Johannesburg

There are mini-bus taxis everywhere
hooting, swerving, stopping anywhere
and people on the street
shouting to each other
as if they are not
in talking distance,
but as if everybody is deaf.

Some hawkers are selling
sweets, cigarettes and newspapers
while others are cooking maize,
porridge and eggs.

Youngsters stand next to
parking meters showing
open parking spaces
and demanding money
to watch vehicles parked there.

Some hobos sleep
in tattered blankets
and smell of wine
and liquor and the sick
sweet odour or retching.

Prostitutes walk up and down
street corners in mini skirts
and t-shirts
with nipples showing through
and have hello smiles
plastered across their faces.

Some gum sniffing children
beg at traffic lights
with twisted arms and legs
and other beggars
have posters wishing you well
or telling you to go to hell.

People queue in lines
waiting for busses
and some stand smoking
while they talk
and businessmen, lawyers,
soldiers, secretaries
are walking quickly past
with briefcases, satchels,
and handbags

and on the sidewalk
there is urine,
blood, vomit, some rotting food
and smoked cigarettes
and everywhere signs
of a city in a country
that is falling apart.

Too Late To Say Sorry

“Let me in, ” said the man as he rattled the gates.
“Go away; ” said Peter, “you’re not welcome here.”
“Let me in I say, ” said the angry man once more.
“Move on you’re causing a queue, ” said someone near.

“Shut your mouth, ” said the man rattling the gates.
“Go away; ” said Peter, “you’re wasting my time.”
“Hey you, the one with the mouth holding up the queue
you belong in hell with the rest of your kind.”

“I’m not going to hell, ” said the man at the gate.
“You have no choice the gates aren’t open to you.”
“I admit I was evil once, but that was before I died
I’ve changed and I want to start anew.”

“Your fate’s been decided, ” said a voice from behind,
“You may as well accept what’s coming to you.
You have to pay the price for the evil you’ve done
and there’s no way to escape what’s due.”

“Why won’t you listen to a man that’s made mistakes?
I’ve admitted my guilt although a little bit late,
no one deserves an eternity of pain and torment.”
He then slowly disappeared to seal his fate.

Memories of Love

I still remember the day I met you,
You were sitting in a cafe, with a friend or two.
You looked up at me,
With those big eyes of yours.
And I could suddenly see,
I was in love for sure.

We hardly talked,
Just standing there.
You just looked at me,
And of the world, I became unaware.

I left a moment later,
I was to meet a friend, I met her.
But my thoughts were still with you.
dreamed of those moments few.

With a heavy heart the next day,
I passed the same old cafe.
But you were still sitting there,
As if u had appeared out of nowhere.

I blinked my eyes to make sure,
But you didn't disappear.
Instead jumped up with a smile,
And I felt like dancing for a while.

We sat down together,
In that misty weather.
And talked for hours on end,
ill darkness decided to descend.

Oh! What a day that was,
I will never forget because,
That day I realized,
Love is heaven on earth in disguise.

Road Works

I think we’d all agree that Britain’s road works,
Whilst ongoing, offer up little in the way of perks.
You know that it will all be worth it in the end,
But, being caught in them drives you round the bend.

You sit there in the queue – cars nose to tail,
And you speed along as fast as a garden snail!
You’re in a rush and need to be somewhere quick,
But, forgetting the works, this was the route you picked.

For ages, there’s no movement from your steering wheel.
Angry and very frustrated is how you’re beginning to feel.
‘Come on! Come on! I haven’t got all day! ’ you silently say.
If you’d chosen another route, you’d now be on your way!

You’re feeling really tense and have a terrible headache,
But, quite a while longer, this situation is going to take.
To be able to get out of this mess, you well and truly yearn,
And wish that you were able to perform a cunning U-turn.

But, now you’re here, you have to sit and wait.
You glance at your watch, hoping you won’t be late.
You can feel your blood pressure steadily rising.
In the circumstances, I guess it’s hardly surprising!

You try to calm down, so a tune you begin to hum.
On the steering wheel, your fingers manically drum.
You grab the steering wheel and swear and curse.
You dearly wish that you were allowed to reverse.

Finally, the lights go green and you’re on the move.
You’re back to your old self and back in your groove.
Upon your face, there slowly appears a smile
But, it’s taken you twenty minutes to drive a mile!

From the traffic queue, you’ve now been freed,
And foot on accelerator, you pick up speed.
You now feel fully invigorated and alive,
And off into the sunset, you happily drive.

Breaking Into Heaven

Ive been casing your joint for the best years of my life
Like the look of your stuff, outta sight
When Im hungry and when Im cold
When Im having it rough
Or just getting old
Listen up sweet child of mine
Have I got news for you
Nobody leaves this place alive
Theyll die and join the queue
Better man the barricades
Im coming in tonight
Had a line of my dust, outta sight
When I wander and when I roam
Ill find a soul I can trust
Im coming home
Listen up sweet child of mine
Have I got news for you
Nobody leaves this place alive
Theyll die and join the queue, sing it
Im, Im gonna break right into heaven
I cant wait anymore
Heavens gates wont hold me
Ill saw those suckers down
Laughing loud at your locks when they hit the ground
Every icon in every town
Hear this your numbers up
Im coming round
Listen up sweet child of mine
Have I got news for you
Nobody leaves this place alive
Theyll die and join the queue, sing it
Im, Im gonna break right into heaven
I cant wait anymore
How many times do I have to tell you
You dont have to wait to die
You can have it all
Anytime you want it
Yeah, the kingdoms all inside

Death is fun an

emblazoned on the door

they paid the guide
some money
then lay down excitedly
in the cubicle to have
a five minute fun of death
a queue has formed

the guide at the door says
