Rudyard Kipling

The Voortrekker

The gull shall whistle in his wake, the blind wave break in fire,
He shall fulfill God's utmost will unknowing His desire;
And he shall see old planets pass and alien stars arise,
And give the gale his seaworn sail in shadow of new skies.
Strong lust of gear shall drive him forth and hunger arm his hand
To win his food from the desert rude, his foothold from the sand.
His neighbors' smoke shall vex his eyes, their voices break his rest,
He shall go forth till South is North, sullen and dispossessed.
He shall desire loneliness, and his desire shall bring
Hard on his heels a thousand wheels, a People, and a King;
He shall come back in his own track, and by his scarce cooled camp;
There shall he meet the roaring street, the derrick, and the stamp;
There he shall blaze a nation's ways with hatchet and with brand,
Till on his last-won wilderness an Empire's outposts stand!

An Ever Open Door

Desire to live, love and dream
Desire to desire more
Desire is the flirtiest whim
It's an ever open door.
Desire to touch you once
Desire to break into a dance
Desire to hold your hand
Desire to build on sand!
It's an ever open door
You desire and desire more!

Lovedrive

Music :rudolf schenker
Lyrics:klaus meine
A girl to drive a car to love
The music rocks me down the motorway
My whores got wings were taking off
And I cant stop this flight of speed today
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
You drive me crazy babe
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
You drive me crazy babe
The city lights of london town
Are far away my hand is on her wing (on her wing)
I stop the car and she gets down
Id like to show why scorpions got a sting
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
Sweet love, you drive me crazy babe
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
Sweet love, you drive me crazy babe
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
You drive me crazy babe
Its a lovedrive on wheels of fire
A lovedrive just one desire love
Sweet love, you drive me crazy babe
You drive me crazy babe

Burn in Desire

dont play with fire
dont fondle my desire
becasue im burning like hell
inside this shell
ashes of my sin
enticed by what could have been
baby dont play with my fire
you'll burn in desire

i tell you to runaway
with me you wont stay
pure, but burned clean to the bone
with the burning edge in my tone
push you away
dont suffer my stay
just runaway
from the fire that plays
with your heart
your desire

ive caught you
you burn in my fire
cant fight away
what we know
will kill us, but in anyway
we cant let go

cant burn me out
black me out
get me out of your head
why the screaming?
your already dead
from desire
of this fire
kid dont play with fire

you take sin offered in my hand
im only a tease
smoldering what you understand
to a fire that cant please
only the thirst
that hurts
it rips us to pieces

beware of me
ill burn you eyes black
till you cant see
life from lust
or what to trust
i give you desire
now burn in fire

im your simple desire
take me, burn in fire
dancing with tongues of a devil
scorching sins
runaway, and ill take you again

ive told you my plans
but you hold my hand
smoldered by embers in my eyes
i hkkope you know this fire wont ever die
it burns in me
burns me up to death
till all i see
is passion, and death to the rest

take regret with the pain
going to hell
its all the same
driven by sin
all over again
play with fire
consumed with desire

Thats My Desire

(loveday / kresa)
To spend one night with you
In our rendezvous
And reminisce with you
Thats my desire
Oh woa woa woa
To go where gypsies play
Down in some dim cafe
And dance till break of day
Thats my desire
Oh woa woa woa
To sip a little glass of wine
And gaze into your eyes divine
To feel the touch of your lips
Pressing on mine
To hear you whisper low
Just when its time to go
Cheri, I love you so
Thats my desire
Oh woa woa woa
Thats my desire
Oh woa woa woa
Thats my desire

My Desire Remained A Desire

My desire
Remained a desire
Never got fulfilled
So I decided
To make another desire,
I prayed to god
To give me strength
Not to desire
After few days
I asked god
What happened to?
My desire
Of not desiring
God said to me
Since you desired
Not to ever desire
If I fulfill it
You shall not get
What you desired
If I do not fulfill
Your desire
You shall keep on
Complaining
About unfulfilment
Of desire
So my advice is
Desire less
Remain contented
Do not expect much
As expectation breeds
Frustration
And frustration breeds
Anger
In anger one looses cool
Becomes
Rash and purposeless

The fire of desire

Keep alive
In you
The fire of desire
As it only
Brought you to this
Wonder world
And so many
Other great things
Let it be
Any break-through
In science, art or literature
There was a fire of desire
That caused
The event to occur

Keep alive
In you
The fire of desire
But be on guard
To have good control
As the fire
Has the potential
To engulf you
And to devour you
History has
A great list of heroes
Who succumbed to
This very
Fire of desire
Still it is worth
You keep alive
In you
The fire of desire

With lot dreams
In mind
With lot milestones
To cross
With lot wins
To accomplish
With lot days
Ahead
Keep alive
In you
The fire of desire

The Swagman and His Mate

FROM north to south throughout the year
The shearing seasons run,
The Queensland stations start to shear
When Maoriland has done;
But labour’s cheap and runs are wide,
And some the track must tread
From New Year’s Day till Christmastide
And never get a shed!
North, west, and south—south, west and north—
They lead and follow Fate—
The stoutest hearts that venture forth—
The swagman and his mate.

A restless, homeless class they are
Who tramp in Borderland.
They take their rest ’neath moon and star—
Their bed the desert sand,
On sunset tracks they ride and tramp,
Till speech has almost died,
And still they drift from camp to camp
In silence side by side.
They think and dream, as all men do;
Perchance their dreams are great—
Each other’s thoughts are sacred to
The swagman and his mate.

With scrubs beneath the stifling skies
Unstirred by heaven’s breath;
Beyond the Darling Timber lies
The land of living death!
A land that wrong-born poets brave
Till dulled minds cease to grope——
A land where all things perish, save
The memories of Hope.
When daylight’s fingers point out back
(And seem to hesitate)
The far faint dust cloud marks their track—
The swagman and his mate.

And one who followed through the scrub
And out across the plain,
And only in a bitter mood
Would seek those tracks again,
Can only write what he has seen—
Can only give his hand—
And greet those mates in words that mean
“I know”, “I understand.”

I hope they’ll find the squatter “white”,
The cook and shearers “straight”,
When they have reached the shed to-night—
The swagman and his mate.

Desert Rose

Words and music by sting
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
I dream of fire
Those dreams that tie two hearts that will never die
And near the flames
The shadows play in the shape of the mans desire
This desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this
And now she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothings as it seems
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
The rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of love
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
Sweet desert rose
Whose shadow bears the secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume that would torture you more than this
Sweet desert rose
This memory of hidden hearts and souls
This desert flower
This rare perfurme is the sweet intoxication of love

Till

Till these eyes pop out from its sockets
Drop like marbles on the floor
Roll to dust and sand and be gone,
Till my back aches no more with
A thousand needles pricking me up higher
To my neck, my nape higher all over my head,
Till my arms break into quarters of bones
Till my hands disjoin from their fingers
Till this heart burst to segregated chambers,
Till my solid self disintegrates into meaningless pieces
Till everything in me returns to dust flies to air,
I will never cease composing all of you
Words without sounds, sounds without images
I will not
Stop giving you the image that you desire, the sound that would be musical,
To the ears of this world, to the farthest celestial ears of this universe,
My dear words, You all have the right to become my poetry, the poetry.

When You Wake Up

When you wake up
Walk with God,
Desire to love God,
Desire to live and know God

When you wake up
Exalt yourself not,
Not against God,
God, the all knowing God.

When you wake up,
Be not like,
King Nebuchadnezzar,
King driven out, of his kingdom.

When you wake up
Be not foolish
Foolish is he that
He that, argues with God.

When you wake up,
Desire to know,
To know the only way,
TO, The throne of God
Is through repentance

just like us
there's nothing else to discuss

you can play
till your hearts desire, on your break,
a king of diamonds you must forsake

I know you have a hot hand
I know it's on fire
yet, I must take this stand

so get out of that chair

Engineering Desire...

It's like playing games with fire. Desire is little understood
The energy on which its heart relies for food
Is liable to melt down from its own toxicity

Yes, with desire there's much that can go wrong
It can turn out pitifully weak, a hundred times too strong
Or reckless in its hunger for pain and publicity

It's a complex secret formula, so just be sure
To avoid the myriad mistakes that were made before
Like when they tried to build the perfect man

Maybe you could do it in the factories in China
They'll make anything out there and they often make it finer.
If you lack the means to buy it, they'll ensure you can

A few skilled engineers are working deep under the ground
To build a pure state of desire, from substances burned
By love's blue flame, contemptuous of surfaces that rust

But all the corporate alchemists can conjure up, it's clear
Is envy first and foremost, lust for curved metallic gear
Functional at best, corroding most of us.

Desire

A- anita
R- ray
A:- come closer baby
I wanna touch you
cause Im filled with desire
Its burning in the block, with a fever like fire
Desire!
Chrous
A:- oh... theres something on your mind
When you look across the room I know theres something you can find
Oh... youre on the borderline
When I look into your eyes I know theres something on your mind its called desire
R:- desire!
The call of the heart
Fix you up and dish my apart
Attraction, without satisfaction
Sure aint enough, cause you want interaction
Now, not a moment to waste
Hunger in you know wanna to be
Pulling at your heart, buring in your bud
With people like fire, desire
R:- lust, when your body says much
You can wish at a star, but dont trust luck
If you beaten by book, hooked on the draw
Then look for a girl to share your love
Heaven, where the angelsdont go
Heaven, where dicks turn to green
Its pulling at heart, ruuning in your head
Makes your skin scream, uh desire!
Chrous
R:- desess
Leave those bodys alone, you got it on your mind and youre not the only one
Attraction, the kiss of introduction
Look into our eyes and the kiss becomes abduction
Here, where the angels dont go
Heaven and nothing but dicks
You playing with your heart, playing with your life
But you know you got to start, desire
A:- oh... you fill me up
You fill me up
You fill me with desire
Oh... something on you mind
Something on your mind
Hay... hay...
Oh... burning like fire!
A:- yeah! you fill me with desire
You fill me with desire
Hey... boy
Something on your mind
Something on your mind

The Prostitute [ I desire her ]

At night she hawks;
Her pride hidden
Between her thighs.
And I desire her.
.
At corners of
red-light districts;
Her comrsdes,
together with her,
Flaunting their wares,
Caught my eyes.
And I desire her.
.
Till dawn, she
Does her trade,
Giving to every me,
Ready to buy,
The forbidden fruit,
.
And I desire her,
I desire her.

Cassandra

O Hymen king.

Hymen, O Hymen king,
what bitter thing is this?
what shaft, tearing my heart?
what scar, what light, what fire
searing my eye-balls and my eyes with flame?
nameless, O spoken name,
king, lord, speak blameless Hymen.

Why do you blind my eyes?
why do you dart and pulse
till all the dark is home,
then find my soul
and ruthless draw it back?
scaling the scaleless,
opening the dark?
speak, nameless, power and might;
when will you leave me quite?
when will you break my wings
or leave them utterly free
to scale heaven endlessly?

A bitter, broken thing,
my heart, O Hymen lord,
yet neither drought nor sword
baffles men quite,
why must they feign to fear
my virgin glance?
feigned utterly or real
why do they shrink?
my trance frightens them,
breaks the dance,
empties the market-place;
if I but pass they fall
back, frantically;
must always people mock?
unless they shrink and reel
as in the temple
at your uttered will.

O Hymen king,
lord, greatest, power, might,
look for my face is dark,
burnt with your light,
your fire, O Hymen lord;
is there none left
can equal me
in ecstasy, desire?
is there none left
can bear with me
the kiss of your white fire?
is there not one,
Phrygian or frenzied Greek,
poet, song-swept, or bard,
one meet to take from me
this bitter power of song,
one fit to speak, Hymen,
your praises, lord?

May I not wed
as you have wed?
may it not break, beauty,
from out my hands, my head, my feet?
may Love not lie beside me
till his heat
burn me to ash?
may he not comfort me, then,
spent of all that fire and heat,
still, ashen-white and cool
as the wet laurels,
white, before your feet
step on the mountain-slope,
before your fiery hand
lift up the mantle
covering flower and land,
as a man lifts,
O Hymen, from his bride,
(cowering with woman eyes,) the veil?
O Hymen lord, be kind.

Fire (Lyrics)

One, two
One, two, three
Alright
Now dig this trash, baby
You don't care about me
I don't care about that
I got a new fool
I like it like that
I got only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire
(Let me stand next to your fire)
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
I wanna stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Listen here, baby
Arh, stop acting so crazy
You say your mom ain't home
That ain't my concern
If you play with me, ah, you won't get burned
I got only one itchin desire
Let me stand next to your fire
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Oh, let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Yeah, let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Come on let me stand
Let me stand next to your fire
Oh, yeah
Move over, Rover
Let Alice take over
Arh, you know what I'm talkin' about
Get over baby
That's what I'm taking about
Dig this
You gotta give me your money, better save it, babe
Save it for your rainy day
I got only one burning desire
Let me stand next to your fire
Let me stand next to your fire
Baby, let me stand
(Let me stand next to your fire)
Arh, let me stand
Let me stand next to your fire
I wanna get that man where ***
Oh, let me stand
I just wanna stand
Ah, Jimi's rolling over
Hey, hey, K. J
Arh, you know what I'm talkin' about
Huh, yeah, fire
I just, just wanna stand

Failure

THE BOY went out from the ranges grim,
And the breath of the mountains went with him;
With a song in his heart and a smile on his face,
And a light in his eyes for a foremost place:
And the good green earth, and the salt sea spray,
And the soft blue skies, they were his that day;
And, like Eden, ringed with a golden fire—
Afar rose the Land of His Heart’s Desire.
The boy went down to the city’s strife,
And his face was lost in the surge of life;
But a Power that he did not understand
Had nerved his brain and his fighting hand.
And he strove and failed, and he rose and won—
And he failed again ere the fight was done;
But he battled on when the days were dire
To win to the Land of His Heart’s Desire.

And there, in the heart of the stress and din,
’Mid want and labour and wealth and sin,
The strong man struggled with shining eyes,
And forced a passage, and grasped the prize.
And he cried to the Power who had lent the fire:
“Lo! Fame is the Land of My Heart’s Desire!
Give the cup to me with a beaded brim.”
And the Power that he knew not gave it him.

But the air is keen on the Cliffs of Fame,
And the shafts that fly have a deadly aim!
With a foothold scarce, and a sleepless dread
For the gulfs below and the heights o’erhead,
He cried to the Power who had steeled his hand:
“I am outcast yet from my Fairyland!
For Fame is a land where no strength may tire,
But Love is the Land of My Heart’s Desire!”

Then there came to the man all his dream of Love,
With the brow of snow and the eyes of a dove,
With the glint of the sun on her wavy hair,
And her soul as pure as her face was fair.
Like a living lily to him she came,
Till his eyes were wet and his soul was flame,
And she called to him, with an outstretched hand,
And they entered into the Promised Land.

But there came a day when he asked his soul,
“Is this the land, and is this the goal?”
In his heart there lay what his lips denied—
The pang of a hunger unsatisfied.
“For Fame,” he said, “and for Love I wrought;
They are not the things that I should have sought:
’Tis to boundless power that my dreams aspire—
And Wealth is the Land of My Heart’s Desire!”

Then the Power that he did not understand
Gave him ships and houses and gold and land,
And the man’s power grew with each passing year;
But his thoughts were vexed with a sleepless fear,
And his hair grew gray with the iron strain
Of the dread of loss and the lust of gain,
And he bowed his head on his hands and said.
“All things are mine, but my heart is dead!”

And he thought of the boy from the ranges grim
With the breath of the mountains over him,
With a song in his heart and a smile on his face,
And a light in his eyes for a foremost place,
And the good green earth and the salt sea spray,
And the soft blue skies that were his that day,
When, like Eden, ringed with a golden fire,
Afar rose the Land of His Heart’s Desire.

Then clear on his startled ear there fell
A voice like the sound of a silver bell:
“To each is the work that he best can do,
But you turned from the work when it called to you.
And you sought instead for the vulgar praise,
For the lips of love, and for prosperous days.
And with all that the world can give you here,
You have lost the thing that you hold most dear.
For who hears the word that the Gods inspire—
In his work finds the Land of His Heart’s Desire.”

Troy Town

HEAVENBORN Helen, Sparta's queen,
(O Troy Town!)
Had two breasts of heavenly sheen,
The sun and moon of the heart's desire:
All Love's lordship lay between.
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Helen knelt at Venus' shrine,
(O Troy Town!)
Saying, “A little gift is mine,
A little gift for a heart's desire.
Hear me speak and make me a sign!
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“Look, I bring thee a carven cup;
(O Troy Town!)
See it here as I hold it up,—
Shaped it is to the heart's desire,
Fit to fill when the gods would sup.
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“It was moulded like my breast;
(O Troy Town!)
He that sees it may not rest,
Rest at all for his heart's desire.
O give ear to my heart's behest!
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“See my breast, how like it is;
(O Troy Town!)
See it bare for the air to kiss!
Is the cup to thy heart's desire?
O for the breast, O make it his!
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“Yea, for my bosom here I sue;
(O Troy Town!)
Thou must give it where 'tis due,
Give it there to the heart's desire.
Whom do I give my bosom to?
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“Each twin breast is an apple sweet.
(O Troy Town!)
Once an apple stirred the beat
Of thy heart with the heart's desire:—
Say, who brought it then to thy feet?
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“They that claimed it then were three:
(O Troy Town!)
For thy sake two hearts did he
Make forlorn of the heart's desire.
Do for him as he did for thee!
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
“Mine are apples grown to the south,
(O Troy Town!)
Grown to taste in the days of drouth,
Taste and waste to the heart's desire:
Mine are apples meet for his mouth.”
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Venus looked on Helen's gift,
(O Troy Town!)
Looked and smiled with subtle drift,
Saw the work of her heart's desire:—
“There thou kneel'st for Love to lift!”
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Venus looked in Helen's face,
(O Troy Town!)
Knew far off an hour and place,
And fire lit from the heart's desire;
Laughed and said, “Thy gift hath grace!”
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Cupid looked on Helen's breast,
(O Troy Town!)
Saw the heart within its nest,
Saw the flame of the heart's desire,—
Marked his arrow's burning crest.
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Cupid took another dart,
(O Troy Town!)
Fledged it for another heart,
Winged the shaft with the heart's desire,
Drew the string and said, “Depart!”
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)
Paris turned upon his bed,
(O Troy Town!)
Turned upon his bed and said,
Dead at heart with the heart's desire—
“Oh to clasp her golden head!”
(O Troy's down,
Tall Troy's on fire!)

Russia to the Pacifists

1918

God rest you, peaceful gentlemen, let nothing you dismay,
But--leave your sports a little while--the dead are borne
this way!
Armies dead and Cities dead, past all count or care.
God rest you, merry gentlemen, what portent see you there?
Singing:--Break ground for a wearied host
That have no ground to keep.
Give them the rest that they covet most . . .
And who shall next to sleep, good sirs,
In such a trench to sleep?

God rest you, peaceful gentlemen, but give us leave to pass.
We go to dig a nation's grave as great as England was.
For this Kingdom and this Glory and this Power and this Pride
Three hundred years it flourished--in three hundred days it
died.
Singing:--Pour oil for a frozen throng,
That lie about the ways.
Give them the warmth they have lacked so
long . . .
And what shall be next to blaze, good sirs,
On such a pyre to blaze?

God rest you, thoughtful gentlemen, and send your sleep is light!
Remains of this dominion no shadow, sound, or sight,
Except the sound of weeping and the sight of burning fire,
And the shadow of a people that is trampled into mire.
Singing:--Break bread for a starving folk
That perish in the field.
Give them their food as they take the yoke . . .
And who shall be next to yield, good sirs,
For such a bribe to yield?

God rest you merry gentlemen, and keep you in your mirth!
Was ever Kingdom turned so soon to ashes, blood and earth?
'Twixt the summer and the snow-seeding-time and frost--
Arms and victual, hope and counsel, name and country lost!
Singing:--Let down by the foot and the head--
Shovel and smooth it all !
So do we bury a Nation dead . . .
And who shall be next to fall, good sirs,
With your good help to fall?
