Rudyard Kipling

The Tour

Thirteen as twelve my Murray always took--
He was a publisher. The new Police
Have neater ways of bringing men to book,
So Juan found himself before J.P.'s
Accused of storming through that placed nook
At practically any pace you please.
The Dogberry, and the Waterbury, made
It fifty mile--five pounds. And Juan paid!

Arbusto Hotel (a song parody)

tune Elvis' Heartbreak hotel (Chorus 1) [Chorus 2]

Now since Juan left the Pueblo,
He’s found a new place to dwell-
An S.R.O.* in Farmingdale
The Arbusto Hotel

(And Juan is so lonely
Juan is so lonely
He’s missing Juanita
Juan is so lonely, he could cry)

Now Juan waits on the Corner
He’s waiting for a van
They drive away, he mows all day
He’s working for the man.

(And Juan is so lonely
Juan is so lonely
He’s missing Juanita
Juan is so lonely, he could cry)

Since Bush came into office
Immigration laws- a laugh
The rich get their cheap labor
While the Union gets the shaft

(And Juan is so lonely
Juan is so lonely
He’s missing Juanita
Juan is so lonely, he could cry)

Now Juan waits at the Border
Across the Rio Grand [sic]
Juanita wades toward him
With a baby in each hand

[Now Juan isn’t lonely
Juan’s got Juanita
That girl’s Muy Bonita&
Juan’s not so lonely anymore

Now Juan is fat and happy
His life now has a plan
He’s living in Corona
With his large extended Clan

[Repeat 2nd Chorus]

Now Juan is quite unhappy
His futures looking grim
Some Guatemalan immigrant
Just stole his job from him!

Under The Banana Tree

under the banana tree
juan
waited for the
magic pebble
to fall
for him to swallow
on the belief
that
he will turn
into
an invisible
juan

the whole
night
he dreamt
that the
magic pebble
landed
on his mouth
wide open

by an unknown
spell
juan
turned into
a banana
tree

and all
the neighbors
his parents
mourned
for him

at least
one thing
sure
happened
he floated
turned
himself
an
invisible
juan
and he
looks
at all of
them

somewhere
from the
top

they call
it
heaven

On this night
On this night of a thousand stars
Let me take you to Heaven's door
Where the music of love's guitars
Plays forevermore

Eva: Magaldi

Magaldi: Eva Duarte

Eva: Your act hasn't changed much

Magaldi: Neither has yours

Peron: I stand here as a servant of the people
As we come together for a marvelous cause
You've shown by your presence your deeds and applause
What the people can do true power is yours
Not the government's unless it represents the people

Egalité

Juan Lanas, el mozo de esquina,
es absolutamente igual
al Emperador de la China:
los dos son el mismo animal.
Juan Lanas cubre su pelaje
con nuestra manta nacional;
el gran magnate lleva un traje
de seda verde excepcional.
Del uno cuidan cien dragones
de porcelana y de cristal;
Juan Lanas carga maldiciones
y gruesos fardos por un real,
pero si alguna mandarina
siguiendo el instinto sexual
al Emperador se avecina
en el traje tradicional
que tenía nuestra madre Eva
en aquella tarde fatal
en que se comieron la breva
del árbol del Bien y del Mal,
y si al mismo Juan una Juana
se entrega por modo brutal
y palpita la bestia humana
en un solo espasmo sexual,
Juan Lanas, el mozo de esquina,
es absolutamente igual
al Emperador de la China:
los dos son el mismo animal.

Piel Canela

Skin like cinnamon,
Hair raven black.
Softly purring,
And arching her back.
Laying on sheets,
So sparkling white,
Writhing in ecstasy,
And her own delight.
My dusky sorceress,
I'm enchanted it seems,
Every night just past Midnight,
I love you in my dreams.

Making Love In A Parked Car

Making love in a parked car,
Out under the stars.
Fogging up the windows,
Is the best by far.

Always the chance,
That your gonna get caught.
As passers by glance,
Whether they see you or naught.

Rocking the car,
Till people think it's possessed.
Till they hear the moans,
And they smile cause they guessed.

Plain Citizen Juan De La Cruz

he thinks he is part of the government,
correct,
he is part of the people whom the government taxed
taking his money
and later some of his property, his chicken, his pig, his carabao
his plow,
then the government enters into war
plain juan de la cruz becomes the soldier
killing another soldier
in the killing fields in the mine fields he will soon lose his arm
if not both his feet

plain juan de la cruz
then the rebels come, the insurgents, the belligerents
juan de la cruz is not in his house
his wife and children are now the pawns
the victims
the servants
the wife cooks for the comrades the child runs to the nearby store
to buy cigarettes and liquour
then they too will ask for the chicken, the pigs, the carabao,
the rice and some vegetables and beans and
a little money to support their cause

plain juan de la cruz
plain citizen, will he survive the war on both sides?

let us have a sandwich
for a metaphor, this poem looks like it,
plain de la cruz is in between

and he has no choice.

All Women Are Beautiful

All women are beautiful,
I can attest to that.
There are no skinny women,
And none that are fat.

No matter what color,
They are gorgeous to me.
Just like a rainbow,
That beckons to me.

Men certainly are fools,
To pass women by.
They're so stuck on themselves,
That you can't deny.

And I look, at every single one,
And see what they need.
All women like fun,
You just meet their needs.

Godlike

I am very sorry I made mistake
It won't happen again.
You stated king Juan Carlos of spain.

Great really you are great to realised
Your mistake and said these above.

People are really more important.
Save people from severe economic crisis
And do good to people that is permanent.

Doing work for people's welfare are really holy
Than elephant-hunting and making merry.

You King Juan Carlos of spain
Knowledge regain and having human
You are superhuman
You are really Godlike

Thirteen Mile Goodbye

(gary burr/gerry house)
The sign said synonara in the japanese restaurant
The billboard said theres no tomorrow in the christ church parking lot
The laundry mat said, youre all washed up
How can I disagree?
And the street sign
Did everyone know but me?
She must have gone
To a lot of trouble
I got the truth
Right betweent he eyes
Dont know how she found the time
But between her door and mine
Was a thirteen mile goodbye
Now this cant be paranoia
Its just coincidence
At the palace theatre on the corners playing
Gone with the wind
And theres one more grim reminder
Every twenty feet
How come I never noticed
This is a dead end street?
She must have gone
To a lot of trouble
I got the truth
Right betweent he eyes
Dont know how she found the time
But between her door and mine
Was a thirteen mile goodbye
I see the y in the ymca
Ive been asking myself that all day
She put a closed sign on every door
Just to proved the point if I wasnt sure
She must have gone
To a lot of trouble
I got the truth
Right betweent he eyes
Dont know how she found the time
But between her door and mine
Was a thirteen mile goodbye

Byron

To Mr. Murray (Strahan, Tonson Lintot Of The Times)

Strahan, Tonson Lintot of the times,
Patron and publisher of rhymes,
For thee the bard up Pindus climbs,
My Murray.

To thee, with hope and terror dumb,
The unedged MS. authors come;
Thou printest all - and sellest some--
My Murray.

Upon thy table's baize so green
The last new Quarterly is seen,--
But where is thy new Magazine,
My Murray?

Along thy sprucest bookshelves shine
The works thou deemest most divine-
The 'Art of Cookery,' and mine,
My Murray.

Tours, Travels, Essays, too, I wist,
And Sermons, to thy mill bring grist;
And then thou hast the 'Navy List,'
My Murray.

And Heaven forbid I should conclude
Without 'the Board of Longitude,'
Although this narrow paper would,
My Murray.

Venice, March 25, 1818.

A Dream Of Home

This is where I want to be,
where everybody smiles at me.
This stretch of water that winds away,
from west to east and I will say,

If you like fishing this is the place,
to cast your line and slow your pace.
To take in the valley sun,
catching blue -gills by the ton

There's rio-grande perch and bass all around,
sunfish and bluegills and I've even found,
carp and garr all sorts of stuff,
even a big old copperhead in the rough.

I know I am dreaming, but soon I won't be,
and my little stream will be reality,
in McAllen, Texas, it waits patiently,
for me to return, fishing's for me.

The Song Of Don Juan

and let him say
that he knows the ways of the heart
of women and he shows them how big is his heart
loving all of them fairly and thoroughly
(or is it
truly?
not really, for there is this truth inside his heart
still about to unfold
to be freed...)

and he loves many of them, ladies longing for his love
ladies in reds and blues, ladies in stilleto shoes,
lovely ladies in a row, and he kissed and made love
to each of them,
without regret,

to the envy of other men, but what is it really inside
this magnificent don juan, so handsome and so virile
like one loving machine?

pity. love. sympathy. fame. glory. fortune.
sex, desire, lust, the magnanimous don juan
shall have it all
and enjoy what the hands of lust have given him
freely and abundantly
like a bunch of sweet
grapes on his mouth

at the bottom, of all these pleasures, once,
beneath the moon, in the silence of his room
he stares at his masculine body, his thighs, and
strong arms,
this fucking machine

to his chest, there lies his broken heart
still wanting to be held, and still wanting to please
them all

he never had what he loved most
that someone buried in his past, that someone
crying in the grave still calling
for his name

Deportee

The crops are all in and the peaches are rotting
The oranges are piled in their creosote dumps
You're flying them back to the mexican border
To pay all their money to wade back again
Goodbye to my juan, goodbye rosalita
Adios mis a-mi-gos, jesus and maria
You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane
All they will call you will be deportee
Some of us are illegal and some of us are not wanted
Our work contract's out and we have to move on
But it's 600 miles to that mexican border
They chase us like outlaws, like rustlers, like theives
Goodbye to my juan, goodbye rosalita
Adios mis a-mi-gos, jesus and maria
You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane
All they will call you will be deportee
My father's own father, waded that river
They took all the money he made in his life
My brothers and sister come work the fruit trees
They rode the truck til' they took down and died
The airplane caught fire over los gatos canyon
A fireball of lightning that shook all our hills
Who are these dear friends all scattered like dry leaves
The radio said they were just deportees
Goodbye to my juan, goodbye rosalita
Adios mis a-mi-gos, jesus and maria
You won't have a name when you ride the big airplane
All they will call you will be deportee

All they will call you will be deportee

From Rochdale To Ocho Rios

From rochdale to ocho rios
From ocho rios to dorking
From dorking its back to rochdale
From rochdale to ocho rios
You spend half your life in transit
But thats just the way God plans it
Pack a shirt and some fresh pajamas
Thats all you need
Tried to get a flight out to san juan
But air jamaica dont fly on sunday
Gotta get a flight out to san juan
Because I wanna see the mama and the papa
When I look into your blue eyes
I bend the truth but I never tell you lies
I need my lover, I need your care
Understandings not enough to make it fair
From rochdale to ocho rios
From ocho rios to dorking
From dorking its back to rochdale
From rochdale to ocho rios
Asleep in a stream of sunlight
Awake in a dream at midnight
Im rushing to wait for jumbo
Oh where am I now
Tried to get a flight out to san juan
But air jamaica dont fly on sunday
Gotta get a flight out to san juan
Because I wanna see the mama and the papa
A dressing room so far from home
A corridor with a broken telephone
I wanna call but I got to go
The curtains up and its time to do the show
Show time!
I just got in to the city
Yeah, its so insane
But the man with the suitcase
Is on the road again
Tried to get a flight out to san juan
But air jamaica dont fly on sunday
Gotta get a flight out to san juan
Because I wanna see the mama and the papa
Asleep in a stream of sunlight
Awake in a dream at midnight
Im rushing to wait for jumbo
Oh where am I now
You spend half your life in transit
But thats just the way God plans it
Pack a shirt and some fresh pajamas
Thats all you need
Everybody sing!
From rochdale to ocho rios
From ocho rios to dorking
From dorking its back to rochdale
Oh where are we now
