Today... 'Commander

A great Leader and Commander was given
charge of leading His people into heaven.
We walk in His footsteps and obey His words
for He is our King of kings and Lord of lords.

'Come and choose this day whom you will serve' we hear
the voice of Joshua calling loud and clear
and joining with him in this response we say
'as for me—I will serve the Lord from this day.'

Examples of His leadership can be seen
in the miracles performed on this worlds scene.
Demonstrating His power as King of kings
and His right to be Commander of all things

Healing the Centurions Servant (Luke 7: 1-10)

'Just say the word and Your great power reveal
for I believe that my servant You can heal.
I'm a man understanding authority
and can recognise it in the One I see.'

These are words the Centurion said to You
for he saw great authority in You too.
As Commander Your authority's not bound
by any earthly barrier or battleground.

The Raising of Lazarus from the dead (John 11: 17-44)

They opened the tomb and rolled the stone away
then they heard Your command in a loud voice say
'Lazarus come out' and before them they saw
he who had been dead was not dead any more.

Healing the man possessed (Mark 5: 1-13)

With this man the demons always had their way
among the tombs during the night and the day.
'Legion, Come out of him' to the man You said
and at the Commanders voice the demons fled.

They had to obey You for You were Divine
and they fled to the hills entering the swine.
Then the two thousand demons ran down the bank
fell into the sea and they all drowned and sank.

Stilling the storm (Mark 4: 35-41)

Petrified in the boat they were panicking
as the waves of the sea came cascading in.
You awoke Lord and then commanded the sea
'Be still, ' You said with awesome authority.

'What manner of man is this' out loud they cried.
Amazed as they saw the wind and sea subside.
The storm was quelled and the wind and rain did cease
the Commander obeyed, they were left in peace.

Conclusion

Mightier than any tempestuous sea
Mightier than clashing thunderstorm is He.
Our Commander God is The Sovereign Lord
all heaven and hell have to obey His word.

Legion

With this man the demons had their way
among the tombs during night and day.
Men chained him attempting to subdue
and prevent what those demons made him do.

Ashamed he cut himself when so distressed
then he ran to Jesus this man possessed.
'Legion, Come out of him' the Master said
and at the Lords command the demons fled.

They had to obey for He was Divine
and fled to the hills entering the swine
The two thousand pigs ran down the bank
falling into the sea they drowned and sank.

The Demons were gone this man was made whole
no more in chains and agony of soul.
So he begged to go with Jesus on His way
But the Lord had a plan for him that day.

Then all dressed and in his right mind went he
through the ten cities giving testimony.
saying 'I came to Jesus all possessed
and now with His righteousness I'm dressed'

To be clothed and possess our right mind
is now possible when Jesus we find.
Let's run to Jesus just as this man did
and from all our demons we will be rid.

Today... 'One To Be Feared

The wind had ceased as the waves subside
for 'Peace be still' the Lord had cried.
Both wind and waves obey the words

The disciples were amazed at what they saw
as they gazed at Jesus eyes full of awe.
The One to be feared was there in the boat
and by His power had kept them afloat.

We fear God and great reverence show
as in the boat sailing through life we go.
The Son of God born to us by virgin birth

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Matthew (Chapter 8)

When Jesus came down from the mountain-side,
A great crowd followed Him, leper beside;
The leper paid Him homage and begged, ‘Lord,
‘If you so wish, you can make me too, clean! ’

So, Jesus stretched His hand out and touched him
And replied, ‘I’ll do it. You be made clean.’
His leprosy had vanished immediately.

Then Jesus told him, ‘See that you tell none.
Go show the priest that you are fully cleansed.
As proof, you offer Moses’ prescribed gift.’

When Jesus entered Capernaum, there came
A centurion who approached Him and said,
‘My servant lies at home Lord, paralyzed,
For days, he’s suffering most dreadfully.’
Then Jesus told him, ‘I’ll come home and cure.’

The centurion replied, ‘O Lord, I am
Not worthy to have you under my roof,
Just say the word, my servant will be healed.’

‘For, I’m a person with authority,
With soldiers many under my command;
I say to one, ‘Go, ’ and he goes at once;
I order another, ‘Come here, he comes;
And to my slave, I say, ‘Do this, he does.’

When Jesus heard this, He was so amazed.
He said to those who followed Him, ‘Amen,
I say to you, in Israel, none I’ve seen,
With faith so strong as this centurion’s.’

‘Many will come from east and west, I say
To sit with Abraham, Jacob, Isaac,
At the banquet in kingdom of heaven,
But the kingdom’s children will be driven,
Out in the darkness where there will be much
Wailing and grinding and gnashing of teeth.’

Then Jesus told centurion, ‘You may go,
Let it be done for you as you’ve believed.’
That very hour, his servant got well healed.

Then Jesus went to Peter’s house and saw
His mother-in-law in bed with fever;
He touched her hand and fever left at once;
She rose and waited upon Him that day!

By evening time, they brought to Him many
Who were by demons, spirits too possessed;
He drove the spirits out by simple words,
And cured the sick and suffering who came.
Thus, Isaiah, the prophet’s words came true:
‘He took our infirmities, diseases.’

When Jesus saw a crowd large, surround Him,
He gave orders to cross to other side.
A scribe approached and said to Him, ‘Teacher,
I’ll follow you wherever, you may go.’

And Jesus answered him, ‘Foxes have holes;
Birds of the sky have nests but Son of Man,
Has not a place on earth, to rest His head.’

One of his disciples said, ‘Lord, let me
Go first bury my father who is dead.’
But Jesus ordered him, ‘Just follow me.
Let dead bury their own dead by themselves.’

Then Jesus and disciples went by boat.
A violent storm then brewed upon the sea;
The boat was hit by waves, He lay asleep;
They came and woke Him saying, ‘Lord, save us!
For, we’re perishing in the stormy sea.’

He asked them, ‘Why are you so terrified?
You ones of little faith! He then got up.
He chided winds and sea and there was calm.
The surprised men then asked, ‘What sort of man
Is this whom winds and seas also obey? ’

They came to other side called Gadarenes;
Two savage demoniacs from tombs met Him.
No one could dare to travel by that road.
On seeing Jesus, they cried, ‘Son of God,
Why have you come into our habitat?
Do you then come to torment us early? ’

A herd of swine was feeding near-by there.
The demons pleaded, ’If you drive us out,
Then, permit us to enter the swine herd.’
Then Jesus said, ‘Go then, and they came out!
The demons went into the swine near-by;
The whole herd rushed down-slope, the steep bank-side
And fell into the sea and were all drowned.’

The swine-herds ran away to town and told
All that had happened to demoniacs.
The townspeople then came to meet Jesus.
They begged Him leave their place immediately!

Today... 'Blessèd and only Potentate

No mortal man can bear the awesome sight
of the One in unapproachable light
Blessèd and only Potentate from heaven
To Him all honour and power is given.

The King of kings and Lord of lords is He
The Omnipotent One no man can see.
To Him shall all the praise and glory be
The One now crowned with immortality.

Sovereign Lord and ruler of all men
Blessèd and only Potentate from heaven.
In God's great plan the time is yet to come
When He shall appear and call us all home.

Then in heaven we shall rejoice and bring
praise and worship to our Heavenly King.
Cast down our crowns as before Him we fall
The Blessèd and only Potentate of all.

There in heaven is the Lamb Who was slain
No other man is more worthy to reign.
He reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords
with the highest honour that heaven affords.

He's mine boasted the grave in victory

‘He's mine' boasted the grave in victory
'He is dead so now he belongs to me'
Mary and Martha gazed on in despair
Wishing that Jesus had been with them there

Then Martha met Jesus coming to Bethany
to share in their deep grief and agony
Then she told Mary who came to see
and fell at His feet weeping helplessly

'Lord if only you had been on the scene
Then Lazarus' death would never have been'
Four days he had lain in Death's sepulchre
far beyond the reach of any earthly care

'Believe in the Resurrection' He said
For He had the power to raise the dead
'Yes I believe that You're the Son of God'
'Whatever You ask will be granted Lord'

'Where have you laid him? ' sadly Jesus sighed
'Come and see, Lord, ' both the women replied.
Seeing their helplessness at the graveside
Deep tears of sorrow the Son of God cried

They opened the tomb, rolled the stone away
Then they heard Jesus in a loud voice say
'Lazarus come out' and amazingly they saw
That he who had been dead was dead no more

'Remove the grave clothing and let him go'
and each semblance of death was removed so
There His power over death Jesus did show
in that town of Bethany long ago

************

I was dead and in sins sepulchre lay
And then I heard the voice of Jesus say
'Roy come forth from the dead', I came to Him
and stood at the cross wrapped in all my sin

He washed me in His blood so pure and clean
I was made the cleanest I'd ever been
Sins linen bands He removed from my soul
and I stood before Him restored and whole

Come witness the miracle taken place
Here stands a poor sinner saved by His grace
For the Holy Spirit has quickened me
And the power of Jesus has set me free

So, grave no longer gloat in victory
You've been conquered by the King of Glory
Death no longer has any hold on me
now that my Lord Jesus has set me free

Today... 'The Amen

We end our prayers by saying Amen.
It is our hearts response again and again.
You are the answer to all that we bring to God
for a life of prayer was the path You trod.

'Amen. So let it be' our spirit cries as we rejoice.
Speak Lord for today we need to hear Your voice
and obey the commands we see in the Book of Life
keeping close to You avoiding schisms and strife.

Oh Faithful and True Witness from heaven above.
Ruler of God's creative work and Lord of love.
We hear Your voice speaking to the church Oh Lord
and submit to the command of The Great Amen of God.

The fear of death was in their eyes

The fear of death was in their eyes
waves filled the boat to their surprise.
Then through the storm a voice was heard
the encouraging voice of the Good shepherd.

He'd seen His sheep struggling with their fear
and came to comfort them and to draw near.
They heard Him speak the words 'Fear not'
and amidst the storm their fears forgot.

'If it's You Jesus' Peter said to the Lord
'Bid me come to You, I'll obey your word.'
The command to come he heard from You
Gazing into Your face Peter's faith grew.

Putting his fears to one side courageously
he stepped outside the boat onto the sea.
Then he began to think 'What have I done'
and took his eyes off of God's Only Son.

He saw the wind and waves come crashing down
and became afraid thinking he would drown.
Taking his eyes off the Lord in horror
distracted by the waves and the winds roar.

'Lord save me' Peter cried out in his fear.
Jesus reached out for He was standing near
and then lifted him back inside the boat
back into safety he was kept afloat.

Sailing this earthly sea we experience fears.
The storms of life can bring such tears.
When He calls us to step out of the boat
eyes fixed on Jesus will keep us afloat.

For our hearts of fear the Lord can transform
and by faith in Him we can face the storm.
With are eyes firmly fixed upon the Lord
we can step out of the boat obeying His word.

Miracles of Christ

Miracles by The Lord were done, through the Power of His Son,
Miracles for all men could see; proving Christ’s Divine Authority.
Sent by God, the Son of Man, with the Father’s redemptive plan,
God’s plan to reach every nation, with God’s only True Salvation.

Christ turned water into wine, to show all His mission was Divine,
Making it His first opportunity, which to authenticate His Ministry.
Five thousand by Him were fed, with two fishes and some bread,
As everyone there was satisfied, without one hungry man denied.

A nobleman’s son, too was healed, by the Son’s power revealed,
And healed at a distance through, power available to me and you.
A man paralyzed was healed in full, by Christ, at Bethesda’s Pool,
This Christ did to the Jews dismay, for it was on the Sabbath day.

One man blind, all of his life, by Christ Jesus was given his sight,
But some men blind spiritually, when they saw, would not believe.
When in the grave, a full four days, Lazarus, by Christ was raised,
Coming forth in grave clothes, from the dead, Christ’s friend rose.

Towards the boat from the shore, on the water they saw The Lord,
He was walking there on that lake, it was Christ, make no mistake.
The above miracles and more, were performed by Christ our Lord,
This so men would believe in Him, Christ, who heals us of our sin.

Submitting To Authority

God commands that we submit, to the Authority of Government,
But to obey God over men, when their ways He would condemn,
When man’s law contradicts, the understanding of God’s Edicts,
So we’re to pray with holy hands, for the leaders of all the lands.

We must consider in the past, when Judgment by God was cast,
He would raise up a leader for, Judgment which He’d soon pour,
And all the law God had ordained, for all believers still remained,
God’s Divine Laws meant to protect, to this day, all God’s Elect.

Even as Israel fell from the Lord, His Law was not to be ignored,
The living under a wicked king, for His own, changed not a thing,
For God’s people were to obey, The Lord, their God, all the way,
To God’s honor and His praise, to be God’s Light in darker days.

With darker times ahead for us, in our God we must put our trust,
Who can change the heart of man, to stop even the darkest plan,
By fervent prayer to our God, He can alter paths the wicked trod,
As their wicked ways He frustrates, by means no one anticipates.

We must submit to all authority, with obedience to God a priority,
Whoever The Lord permits to rule, even if a leader plays the fool,
With man’s foolishness in place, sufficient for us is God’s Grace,
For we know their Foolishness, will fall to Christ’s Righteousness.

Sinking beneath the waves

Battling against the waves we struggled to keep afloat
The winds blew strong and the waves flooded into the boat
The night was far spent and we were tired and weary
then You came walking on the water so strange and eerie.

I wanted to walk by faith and to be with You Lord
so You bid me to come to You and I obeyed Your word.
That first step for me would be a giant leap of faith
but I knew no matter how I felt You'd keep me safe.

Despite that all around me the wind and sea did roar
I wished to walk in places I'd never walked before.
So that great step I took and I was out of the boat
and though the winds and waves bellowed I was still afloat.

But then I took my eyes off You and was petrified
I was sinking beneath the waves, 'Lord save me, ' I cried.
I'm safe now from that raging storm for You heard me
reaching out You saved me from lifes tempestuous sea.

***********

When lifes' waves overwhelm me as sometimes they do
I'm so glad Lord Jesus that I can call out to You.
At times when my faith is weak and I begin to doubt
it is then dear Lord that You reach down and lift me out.

This Spiraling Cliff

mmm
The subject matter and the topic,
You have chosen to discuss
Is most interesting.

You hint,
That a boat floating
Once with an incompetent commander,
Unaware of it floating towards the edge
Of a waterfall cascading at unquestionable speed.
And had been warned of this danger
Should 'not' be the one found at fault.
Because the waterfall at the time of his leadership
Was not as close as it is today?

And the new commander recently taking helm
Who dares to turn the ship away,
From this spiraling cliff
With reason to believe all aboard,
Face eminent and devastating danger?
Because he represents a vision
That has not been collectively decided,
By those wishing to continue sailing
With scheduled social events to attend?

And
Everyone aboard,
Now hears the thunderous roar of this waterfall?
But pretend the evidence of it does not exist?

I'd like to make this suggestion strongly recommended.
And this is hypothetically speaking,
Of course.

'Of course.'

If everyone 'now' hears,
The thunderous roar of this waterfall...
Wouldn't it be to the best of everyone's interest,
IF they paid attention?
And gave the new commander their support?

'In response to your hypothetical suggested recommendation,
To my 'hypothetical' inquisitive mention of this
Of course.
Giving the new commander that much authority,
Would reveal delusions all aboard 'this' ship
I mean 'the' ship,
Wish to keep to themselves without the embarrassment,
Of admitting
They have standards and values,
They would rather keep to impress others who 'may'
Look upon them with less respect!
And,
They would rather try to convince others,
The new commander has weaknesses
Than to confess an apparent ignorance exposed.
And their severe incompetence to address,
Is a confession.

WHO and WHAT are they trying to protect?

'An 'image' of greatness!
Hypothetically speaking,
Of course.'

Sure.
And hypothetically speaking
Where would the lifejackets be stored,
Aboard 'that' fated ship?

'I have no idea.
I am going back to the upper deck,
To attend tonight's activities.'

Isaac Watts

Psalm 29

Storm and thunder.

Give to the Lord, ye sons of fame,
Give to {he Lord renown and power,
Ascribe due honors to his name,
And his eternal might adore.

The Lord proclaims his power aloud
Over the ocean and the land;
His voice divides the wat'ry cloud,
And lightnings blaze at his command.

He speaks, and tempest, hail, and wind,
Lay the wide forest bare around:
The fearful hart and frighted hind
Leap at the terror of the sound.

To Lebanon he turns his voice,
And lo, the stately cedars break;
The mountains tremble at the noise,
The valleys roar, the deserts quake.

The Lord sits sovereign on the flood,
The Thund'rer reigns for ever king;
But makes his church his blest abode,
Where we his awful glories sing.

In gentler language there, the Lord
The counsels of his grace imparts;
Amidst the raging storm, his word
Speaks peace and courage to our hearts.

The Glory of The Lord

The Glory of The Lord came down, in the midst of men, He was found,
When on this darkened earthly sod, men had beheld the Glory of God.
John the Baptist prepared the way, for the Glory of Christ on that day,
When upon this earth came the Light, displayed by God in men’s sight.

When Christ, by John, was baptized, He by His Father was recognized,
For that moment His Father seized, to say, in His Son He was pleased.
Then The Spirit in the form of a dove, descended on Christ from above,
Acknowledging Christ for everyone, confirming that Jesus was His Son.

Through The Spirit of The Lord, the Father and Son are of one accord,
Healing and teaching He’d proclaim, all authority in His Father’s Name.
Christ had spoke with such authority, coming from The God of Eternity,
For all Authority was given to Christ; The Son who came to give us life.

Even when Christ Jesus had died, His Father in Heaven was Glorified,
As this earth quaked down below, many hearts of men began to know,
This was The Christ God had sent, as He had the Temple curtain rent.
As one soldier said with a fearful nod, surely this was The Son of God.

Although that day Christ was killed, it was God’s Word that He fulfilled,
Being buried by men close to Him, in a tomb in the midst of men of sin.
But, much to the surprise of men, in three days, Christ had risen again.
He was resurrected just as before; Glorified again was Christ our Lord.

And Jesus again appeared to those, who heard from the grave he rose,
Appearing to men in a body Glorified, Christ who on the cross had died.
After forty days Christ would ascend, to Heaven as risen Savior of men,
And the Heavenly Glory was restored, to Jesus Christ, the Eternal Lord.

I Found Jesus On The Jailhouse Floor

There once was a time when I was dead inside
I cussed the Lord for the day I was born
And prayed to the Devil to die
Just when I thought the Devil had won
Someone opened up the door
The King of kings
Lord of lords
I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor
Chorus:
Now, he broke the chains that bound me, and now Im free
Today Im right where Mama
Prayed Id be
Im down on my knees
Now I believe
What Mama knew for sure
Hes King of kings
Lord of lords
I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor
Now, if youre in trouble friend, let me tell you what to do
Ill tell you what hes done for me
And I know what hell do for you
It makes no difference what youve done
Youve a friend in the One that I adore
The King of kings
Lord of lords
I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor
Repeat Chorus
Hes King of kings
Lord of lords
I found Jesus on the jailhouse floor

Stepping Out Of The Boat

The fear of death was in their eyes
waves filled the boat to their surprise.
Sailing this earthly sea we experience fears
the storms of life can bring such tears.

Then through the storm a voice was heard
the encouraging voice of the Good shepherd.
He'd seen His sheep struggling with their fear
and came to comfort them and to draw near.

They heard Him speak the words 'Fear not'
and amidst the storm their fears they forgot.
'If it's You Jesus, ' Peter said to the Lord
'Bid me come to You, I'll obey your word'

The command to him then came from You
and gazing upon You Peter's faith grew.
Putting his fears to one side courageously
he stepped outside the boat onto the sea.

****** Many years later

The thought of dying was in our heart
as from Amsterdam we began to depart.
'At midnight my love we will either be
at home, or in heaven the Lord we'll see'

God was protecting us that dreadful day.
The time was not right to take us away
from this earthly scene to be with Him
even though the situation looked so grim.

'That's it' you said 'No more flying for me
Terra firma from now on it's going to be.'
'No more holidays abroad I've had enough
flying for me is emotionally too tough.'

'Let's not go to abroad this year, ' you said.
We'll have a holiday in Scotland instead
It will be better than having to face the fear
of flying overseas to Ghana this year.

Let's send them both a present instead.
Post them some money as they get wed.
Wasting money on air fare is not the way
they will appreciate it much more anyway.

My love, God can send money so easily
but a much more priceless gift would be
for us to go and be present with them there
and in Ghana their special day to share.

As the fear and concern came back again
You heard Jesus saying so clear and plain
'Put fear to one side and fly to them there
I'll be with you as you go so do not despair.'

And then just as Peter did when on the sea
When he heard Jesus say 'Peter come to me'
You put your fear to one side and willingly
stepped right out of the boat onto the sea

The tickets were purchased and all was ready
The pain of the injections a distant memory
Plans have been made, hat and dresses bought
In August to Ghana we go, or so we thought

At that time God's will we did not know
for illness struck just before we were to go.
You were rushed to hospital in great pain
and prevented from getting onto the plane

Storms come along as we walk His way
bringing in their wake doubts and dismay.
You showed great faith to step out of the boat
Knowing the Lord would keep you afloat.
