New York's Dilemma
Out on the streets of New York,
The first appearance of morning,
A preliminary warning
That a new day has begun
While my expectations rise high
As numbers filter through my mind,
Avenues and streets become a network
When studios and skyscrapers somehow
Coincide to take me anywhere
When my heart desires...
Weary faces passing through
The cross-road of the world,
Holding frozen thoughts and muted words,
In the very heart of Times Square,
Some looking happy or tired,
These faces are clear signs
And must be read quickly
To learn their story hidden behind
Or absolve their tiredness or vitality...
I hold my head down
So as not to give myself away,
Relieved to be among strangers
Who do not understand-so readily,
The natural disturbance
Of my presence-or the glance
That permits no admittance...
Practical concerns I put off for a while
For this is the right place
Though I have arrived a bit late
To capture the original chance
To be myself at a glance...
Here-is no more crowded
Than anywhere else
When the greatest pressure
Is a throng of questions
That elbow me alone in a room,
Watching my every move
As anyone I ever knew
Was constantly demanding:
'What do you do? '...
Here I am, always rushing and late
And always in the same place,
Frozen in time and space,
Boundaries I can no longer delineate
When I am daily struggling with my fate...
This is the dilemma of New York,
Honestly expressed my dear folks,
The reality everyday I must face...

Take One More Chance
Ooh, I dont understand,
In this crazy world we live in,
Just look around, is it true?
No one gives a damn.
Trapped in a world of illusion,
Is it too late for us, ooh?
Baby, well never know why were stranded here,
Lost in this crowded room,
I noticed you the minute you came into view.
But youre so hard to me,
Oh, why do I care for you so?
I never ever doubt, my love,
The time is oh so right for love.
Take one more chance, this is the last dance.
Take one more chance, this is the last romance.
I dont understand,
Been avoiding me all evening.
Each time I looked you just dance,
Again on the floor.
Like life itself had no meaning.
If I could touch you,
But oohooh, deep in my heart I know,
Theres a destiny,
Through all this sadness I see.
Its not too late to change, my love,
Tonight the stars are made for love.
Take one more chance, this is the last dance.
Take one more chance, this is the last romance.
[one more chance] take one more glance and give our life a chance.
[one more chance] take one more glance and give our life a chance.
[one more chance] take one more chance, this is the last dance.

My Daily Routine In New York
Early in the morning
A rude awakening at the sound
Of the alarm clock...
Trying to steal an extra
Ten minutes of sleep
But it is time to get up,
Time to go to work...
Soap and towel handy,
While in the shower,
Listening to Billy Joel
Or the morning news...
Traffic and weather reports,
While drinking coffee
And smoking a cigarette...
Quickly going through the newspapers
To faithfully read my horoscope...
My everyday routine in New York
Rushing again to go to work...
'Good Morning' intended
For the whole week
Hoping not to miss my train
Avoiding to be reprehended
for being late...
Meeting so many strangers
Just like me
Dragging smiles or sleeping faces
Exhibiting a great deal of effort.
People leering hopefully for attention,
Expecting a suggestion
At the slightest flicker of an eyebrow...
I haven't started my day work
And I want to go back home to sleep...
That is my daily routine in New York...

Across A Crowded Room
Two hearts are beckoning
from across a crowded room.
Two faces glance
with a distant stare,
but will theirs eyes see
what their hearts feel there.
Strangers, who are only yards apart,
yet only faintly see the other.
What finger of fate
will chance to get them
to see one another
finally getting them together?
Maybe if cupid is standing close
loaded with arrows in his quiver,
he might sent an arrow to one
and another to the other.
Then their far away glances
might fall on one another.

A Dare Mind Escape
Whenever I feel very low,
Tired and rushing against the crowd
In this big jungle of concrete, steel
And glass called: New York City,
It comes to my mind one wish:
To climb the Empire State Building
Like King Kong did with bravery! ..
Once all the way on the top,
A higher and quieter place,
Where I may stay unmoved
By the world down below,
I would feel totally free
Like a melancholic and soft wind…
My words may become softer,
Fluttering the breeze
And well protected in my new nest,
Where nothing can reach me,
Out of sight and touch of the crowd,
I would most likely realize
The World is not so tough…
People below behave like horses,
Clicking heels against tracks
Of pavement led by reigns
That I cannot clearly perceive…
These people seem to glide
On railways of motion,
All riding a freight train
Of contemplation…
Surprised perhaps to be noticed
By the people down below,
I cast a warning stare
Through the fading distance,
Silent detachment
And separate defiance of a struggle
Blended with a non reconciled pain…
Tired by the everyday routine,
I hope I can find peace and security,
All the way up there on my new nest
Where I would have the chance
To discover the real secret of:
Distance, Height and Space…

Its Too Late To Change The Time
[intro]
Too late
Too late
Too late
[verse 1]
In this automatic age
We shop through the yellow page
Gone is the corner store
There is a supermarket there for you
People give way to change
But feelings remain the same
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
Well its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[verse 2]
Its a new day, a new age
A photograph just taken, is ready one minute later
Cars are bigger and better
But the manufacturers sastified never
In a world full of crime
I cant let you think thats right
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
No, no
[bridge 1]
So you wanna be a star (so you wanna be a star)
You are who you think you are (ah think you are)
You dont have to go further
Than my loving arms
[chorus half]
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[bridge 2]
Are you sure you wanna go to new york city (new york city)
Where girls make it big if theyre pretty (if they pretty)
Let say you get that penthouse view
But whos gonna love you the way I do (just the way I do)
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time, no
Too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time
Its too late, too late to change the time
Ooh, too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
Yeah, yeah, yeah

A Tempered Tantrum Girl
Irene was her name,
Everyone knew about her strength
And we were nervously waiting for her...
We knew she was dangerous
And could cause tremendous damages
To our Cityscape...
We paid careful attention to details
Given to us by the weather's men
About her scaring approaching...
She was mad, mean and strong
And did not care
If we were children, old or young...
She was leaving her devastating traces behind
And New York City she was going to hit!
For human lives she got no regard
And only one mission she has in its mind...
From afar we heard her angered voice
And anxiously we got prepared
For an unwanted visitor to come...
The wind was carrying her message:
'I am coming' 'I am coming'
We had no other choice
But to get ready to face a naked truth...
The City's lights started blinking
Like a first sign of was coming...
We all suspected she was nearby
And got ready to face her fury...
A tremendous scaring sound
Vividly announced her presence
And we were left to the mercy of the Lord!
To taste the bitterness of the truth...
Rooftops flown away,
Trees knocked down to the streets
While neon signs dancing in Time Square
Like kites flying in the skies.
Felt was the pounding of the heavy rains
That almost drowned New York State!
New York came to standstill
But nevertheless, we all survived
With a few exceptions...
Now, it is time again to assess the damages,
Call the cleaning crews,
To restore services for subways and buses
And keep the city moving!
Today, only one thing remains to be said:
'Thank God, it could have been worst!
Love and Peace for always! ...
(Inspired by the hurricane IRENE...)

A walk in Manhattan
Faces that float in rivers of people I meet; I see and pass
Throngs thrust through bustling city, buzzing noise and broken roar
Faces that come and go; faces I see and lose in windows glass
All portraits new I will never see again; I have never seen before
Strangers of all ages and all human specimans encounter my pace
The comers and the goers, marches of face to face
Parades of face after face in string of dazzling colors ware
An endless human streams too busy world to stop and stare
An ant hill city of maddening crowd’s ignoble strife
With sober ambitions without boundaries into all four winds to stray
Along cool sequestered decorum of life
All morals bent with insentient apathy out of way
People in rows, crowds in queues, clans in knots
The famous the anonymous, the have and the have not
Diamonds and ashes in street ashrays
while corners vendors and nooks players reciting their pray
Have you ever imagined how much you can tell
In the instantaneous encounter of human eyes
In ants path where no words are exchanged like soundless tale
You have the brief glimpse of a moment to pierce one's fragile disguise
Hurry, capture, net the rushing secrets of joy, agony and indifferent fatigue
Feeling crying, characters shining from all garments, styles and hidden places
A strode of strives and struggles in all passing faces
Walking, rushing ecstasy of success and the scare of failure and critic
On brandished high heels fashion ladies treat
With the rhythm of sculptured legs on stone walk beat
Tall on burnished hooves astute lawyers; vain confidence that the world fate
Is in their crocodiles leather-ed suitcase encapsulate
In this worlds of stage a middle age woman passes upon whom I gaze
The measures she takes to hide her waning beauty leave me amaze
She is all wrapped in colorful deceit and counterfeit labors
That so immodesty displays nature’s gone favors
With its fallacious arguments of colors and elaborate cloth
Is to the senses cunning counterfeit and cynic loath
Rushing people in elongated avenues; restless streets flocks
I froze for a moment in trepidation and fear of thee
In the meeting of our eyes lock in streets shaded oaks
I can tell, you can tell, as much, so much of me

New York
New York, New York
A city that breathes endlessly
Dollars are spent carelessly
New York, New York
A city of squares and blocks
And the Stars roll and rock
While tourist flock
Like sheep cornered in squares
Entertainment, clubs and theatres
Is all that seems to matter
Twenty four seven
Alive in heaven
New York
A taxi takes you round and round the blocks
I end up in Madison Square
Where I started out twenty minutes before
But who cares?
This is New York
Every where there are open doors
New York, New York
A city that never sleeps
Everywhere you must leave a tip
But this city is worth the trip
New York, New York
A city of numbers and avenues
And elongated queues
It is true
I see now, I know now
About what they say about New York!

Intermission
If the world should end, and we both die tonight.
Id have no more time to say the things I might.
Had I known that this last hour would come so soon.
Id have spent the last year speaking just to you.
And theyd be awkward all the things I would have said.
And thats the reason they have not been spoken yet.
But they mean too much to let them go unheard.
Even if I cannot really find the words.
Everyones moving
Im standing still
I stand frozen, stooped in headlights and I watch.
As fate rolls up near and strikes me where Im stopped.
So I look as all Ive wished for fades away.
Because fear grabbed a hold and kept me stuck in place.
But now I swear to everyone Ive broken free.
And most of all to you I vow to be
The best of everything which I know that I can.
Because now Im sure Ill always understand.
Times never frozen
I will move on

Haunted By Their Memory
Why with all the faces that we knew,
does a few seem to fill our thoughts
and haunt us sometimes for days.
The problem with these faces
they are of friends who faded away
and will not be seen again.
Is this our memory telling us
we should have been closer then
and not let their friendship drift away?
That we should have kept in touch more.
Spoke more on the telephone,
and wrote a letter or two,
maybe even visited from time to time.
Now we are haunted by their faces
for things we should have done, but never did.
Is this our punishment for not making the time
to keep in touch with them
that their faces haunt us.
Punishing us on a daily basis
knowing its too late now,
as they are no longer with us.
Could it be they are there as a lesson to learn?
That when something rare comes into our lives
we should embrace it strongly and not turn it away
for it will never come back.
Once it has gone from us
all we will be left with is faces
and haunted by their memory.

A Heart In New York
New york
To your tall skyline I come
Flying in from london
To your door
New york
Lookin down on central park
Where they say you should not wander
After dark
New york
Like a scene from all those movies
But youre real enough to me
But theres a heart
A heart that lives in new york
A heart in new york
A rose on the street
I write my song to that city heartbeat
A heart in new york
Love in her eye
An open door and a friend for the night
New york
You got money on your mind
And my words dont make a dimes
Worth a difference
So heres to you new york
New york
Now my plane is touching down

New York Morning, Glimpse of Beauty
Sunrise, and I read the New Yorker magazine
its poems not of the city, even might
have written them myself, it seems
The heat grows, I toss out the New York Times
Vade Mecum of commute, tired of the weight
of business and estate, pages that I never use
And now the New York streets, unforgiving
red-light-jumping cars, pedestrians running on
adrenalin and wheels, upending
all the slow, a boy on crutches
baby carriage
scattered in their haste
to steal a march upon
the New York morning sun
And even those possessed
of lifetime wage employment can't resist
the caffeine-driven New York state of mind
the traffic cops, tabloids and terror plots
I tell myself, look up, construction in the sky
precise design and accident, human-conceived
magnificence, the fragile towers, peaks
beloved Chrysler spire, a beauty glimpsed
at last, the New York windows to the sun
and clouds where passengers no longer fly.

A Poet's Confession
Time is passing inadvertently
But to me, the hours seem longer
When you are no longer by my side,
Making my heart sad and lonely...
I can honestly confess
That I can still hear your voice
Through the happy birds
Singing by my windows
Early in the morning
And I can still see your smile
Stamped in the flowers
Of my now saddened garden...
In every clear night,
I can see in the Moon and Stars,
The clear reflection of your face
While finding inspiration
In the very scent of your face
Still preserved in the pillow
That you left behind in my bed
When you decided to depart
From our nest, for always! ...
A this very moment,
I don't have an idea
Of your feelings or whereabouts
Or in whose arms you find refuge
Or in whose lips, you calm your thirst,
Neither whose foreign hands
Are now re-drawing your soft body,
While I am only feeling your caresses
Through the soft wind
Blowing by my empty dwelling...
Now, fully aware that time
Neither forgive or forget anyone
When leaving its unreleasable marks
On those who dear to defy...
I must confess therefore,
That I feel young again,
Every time I think of you
But also, I feel very old
Whenever I realize
That I am without you!

Celebrate
Refrain
Celebrate
Every night and day
Celebrate
Never runaway
Celebrate
Wake up its not a dream
Its never too late
This life is for free
When youve got the key
To reality
Lets celebrate
All the dreams come true
Just for me and you
Lets celebrate
C-Teil:
Be yourself and youll see
The best things in your life are free
Dont give up, stay alive
Honesty can make you survive
Rap 1:
Can you see all these people
Walking through the streets of life
Without a smile in their faces
how can they survive
Its a dangerous world they are living in
Between imaginations and expectations on their way
To the point of no return
They only live once and have to learn, your
Life is too brief to waste time for hate
Its never too late to celebrate
Rap 2:
Reality, is what theyre looking for
Love is what they all adore
Feeling like a bird in a cage
covered by a curtain flying into a rage reaching
The point of no return
Let it burn, let it burn
They only live once and they have to learn, your
Life is too brief to waste time for hate
Its never too late to celebrate

Better Weather Here Than Somewhere Else
It's a Northern winter wonderland
Happy couples walking hand in hand
Department stores aglow with lights
Christmas trees always in sight
Snow falls down on New York City
Snow falls down on New York City
It's true that the place is lit up bright
And maybe the streets look amazing at night
And while the country can seem kind of plain
Alabama's got sunshine when New York's got rain
Frost on rooftops and gifts with bows
Teddy bears in shop windows
Santa in the mall with children on his lap
So much to do, so many presents to wrap
And snow falls down on New York City
Snow falls down on New York City
It's true that the place is lit up bright
And maybe the streets look amazing at night
And while the country can seem kind of plain
Alabama's got sunshine when New York's got rain
There's no white Christmas for Dixie this year
But we don't need snow to bring holiday cheer
Maybe we're simple but we still do our part
To keep Christmas a tradition that lives in the heart
So let the snow fall down on new York City
Just let it fall down on New York City
New York Morning, Glimpse of Beauty (alt/beat version)
Sunrise, discarding New York magazine

With That First Glance
With that first glance
I knew I was hooked
I didn't have a chance
You truely are worth the look
I start to frown when you look away
I gues away is where you'll stay
Why would you care about me
It just don't seem
For when you pass by
My heart stops beating
I thnk of you everyday
the thought of you never goes away
For so long I've hidden away my heart
But something happens when I hear your voice
Feelings and wants come rushing back
Even though I never had a chance

Inside the classroom
Empty Faces
stare back at the desk
they sit in
those are the tired ones
Faces Full
of happiness
laughing at a joke
their friend just told
those are the happy ones
Faces of Concentration
trying to reach their perfection
by completing their homework,
Homework
no one else seems to be doing
those are the determined ones
Everyone
every few seconds
glance at the clock
hoping the class will be over
but to them
it won't come soon enough

That's When You Know
for everyone
the story goes
there's a special someone
to make them whole
someone to give their heart completely
and you may search
high and low
and when you find your angel
and when you know
then you finally get that feeling
it'll be as clear as the air you're breathing
that's when the world feels small beneath your feet
its when the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and there's nothing that you can rise above
that's when you know that you're in love
who can tell the time and place
when you see your soul reflected in their face
it'll be a spell you're under
and it'll hit you just like thunder
that's when the world feels small beneath your feet
it's when the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and when you hold them in your arms and cant let go
that's when you know
for all of my life
I have been searching
for something I couldn't find
but now that I know that you are the one
I understand
I read the signs
cos now the world feels small beneath my feet
and all the stars above are only just out of reach
when you feel you're alive for the very first time
and there's nothing that you can rise above
that's when you know that your in love
