The Time I Like Best
The time I like best is 6am
when the snow is 6 inches deep
which I'm yet to discover
'cause I'm under the covers
fast, fast asleep.

Fast Train
Transcribed from a live performance on february 26, 2000 at the barbican in york, england. the first performance of this new song.
When you been on a fast train
And its goin off the rails
And you cant come back together again
You just start breakin down
In the pourin rain
Cause you been on a fast train
When your love has gone away
Dont it make you feel so sad
And you know Im returnin
Way into the land
And you start breakin down
And go into the pain
Cause you been on the fast train
You had to go on the lam
Cross into no mans land
Aint nobody here on your wavelength
And nobody gonna give you a helpin hand
You just start breakin down
And just go into the sun
When you hear that fast train
And you keep movin along
To the sound of the wheels
Deep inside your heart you really know
You know just how it feels
And you start breakin down
And the deserts reign on the fast train
Youre way over the line
This time youre out of your mind
This time youre out of your depth
And to the window you crack open
Oh but theres nowhere to go
Theres only sleet and theres snow
Keep on movin on a fast train
You hear theyre goin over the line
Oh standin on the edge of the hill
Oh nobody on their wavelength
Nobody to give you a helping hand
And you start breakin down
When you hear the sound
Keep on movin on a fast train
Im goin nowhere on a fast train
Goin nowhere
Goin nowhere on a fast train
Goin nowhere on a fast train
Fast train
Going nowhere
Goin nowhere on a fast train
To the wasteland
To the wasteland
On a fast train
On a fast train
On a fast train
Im goin nowhere
Im goin nowhere on a fast train
Goin nowhere
On a fast train

This Morning...
I awoke this morning blinded by the white
bare trees, plows and 10 inches of snow was all that was in my sight
the wind blew, now watch the feathery snow go
people shoveling and cars driving slow
snow covered roofs and snowflakes falling fast
me just wondering how long this beauty woud last

Green Tornado
Green tornado fast asleep,
Just above your forest sweep,
High above the planes of gold,
Which drought and hunger will evolve.
Green tornado fast asleep,
Underneath the tigers creep,
Through the forest stalking prey,
While far away the dear do play.
For green tornado fast asleep,
You are mother natures keep,
With heart of gold and blood of fire,
The world is yours while men admire.

Fast Train
Written by: myles goodwyn
I read the colors this mornin
I read the colors today
About a man who left from nowhere to be someone
And every day he has to pay in every way
I met a man from new york city
He spoke of things Ive yet to find
A good man driven from his homeland
Tryin to find some piece of mind
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train
Its a fast train

Gratefulness Cripples The Speed
How fast the monkey leaves the lower
that fast it reaches the upper branches.
How fast you forget the old
That fast you get the new,
That fast you grow fast.
The grateful men just linger
Holding the same brnach.

River Shannon
Oh Shannon
I might be dreaming'
The stars fell down on the factory
The cathedrals repeating, the light receding
Bells on another day
Have you ever seen my face
Fast asleep and dreaming'?
Oh Shannon
The lightning' fell
There's an army down by the riverside
But I might be dreaming'
I can see that you don't believe me
And I might be dreaming'
If I dip into your water
Fall through my reflection
I will shadow myself anyway
Have you ever seen my face
Fast asleep and dreaming'?
And it don't seem right
That I don't get no sleep at night
What's the river gonna know about leaving'?
Oh Shannon
The soldiers are coming'
The guns are drumming' the night away
Rain, rain go away
Come again some other day
When I got time for believing'
Have you ever seen my face
Fast asleep and dreaming'?
Yeah! What is there left to believe in?!
Oh Shannon
I might be dreaming'
I might be wasting' my life away
listening' to you
Down on under the streetlight
You shudder and beat
The edge of the waterway
And I know if I had time
I might dive in your water
Lie right down in the evening rain
I just want this pain, pain to go away
Come again some other day
When I got time for bleeding'
Have you ever seen my face
Fast asleep and dreaming'?
And it don't seem right that I don't get no sleep at night
What's the river gonna know about leaving'?
Oh Shannon
I might be dreaming

Johnny Needs A Fast Car
Johnny needs a fast car
Johnny needs it bad
Johnny always do the best whatever johnny has
Johnny needs a fast one
Johnny needs it now
You got to give him something to let him show you how
Johnny needs a fast car
Johnny needs a fast car
Johnny needs a break
Johnny dont need good luck
cos johnny never fakes
Hell always make it look good
Youll always see him smile
Give johnny a few inches and hell give you back a mile
Johnny needs a fast car
Johnny needs a fast car
Tears upon the broken bones of luck that never went his way
Bless this one youll know him by his smile

Onyango
I want to be closer to you than before,
And tell me what to do on this love;
For your love is like the beauty of a woman fast asleep,
But the fast-food restaurants and the sex-shops are not for me.
The windows of the world will hide your face,
But what should i do on this love?
And like the Black Ladies in Texas with untold sotries.
I am the image of my father but i have no shoes on,
You are theimage of your mother and you do have shoes on;
And i am very glad to know you Onyango,
For my love is like the beauty of a woman fast asleep.

Snowing In St. Louis
Today I ate some snow
And I don’t mean
That I did blow.
I restrict myself to weed and rum & coke
Chased with a colt 45.
What is it to get high?
It takes a certain constitution to endure it.
Not all survive it
Some are forever chasing the high
Never enough to be satisfied
You can see it in their eyes.
Heron I have never tried
But once I did tried crack
But found the high
Not worth the cost
The snow has change to sleet
Making pin point sounds in the streets
Covered with the preverbal blanket
That covers everything.
There are foot prints to tell where strangers went
It is now wickedly cold
My bones are nearly froze
The garden is fast asleep
Waiting the break of spring
The winds blow the snow
Into piles at the curb of the streets
Traffic has slowed to a crawl
Birds are nowhere to be found
Neither man nor beasts are on the prow
As the snow silently fall
St. Louis is no stranger to a snowy
Winter cold that blows snow up the nose

Whiter Than Snow
As the snow falls from up above, it falls down on the earth below.
It covers everything like a glove, with The Creator’s winter show.
But peeking out is a contrast of, the dark earth beneath the snow.
Soon the sun will return and then, the blanket of snow melts away.
Although it all was covered friend, the earth below is there to stay.
The ground will be exposed again, as before all that snow did lay.
The snow just like the rain will fall, whether it’s in the day or night.
And the snow creates a quiet lull, as it covers all within our sight.
But the ice and snow in its all, will surely dissipate come the light.
Friend, we also cover up in life, our deepest inner hurts and pain.
The inner anguish and the strife, along with thoughts we disdain.
The pains cut deep like a knife, as deep in the heart they remain.
Hidden deep there is also sin, which is hidden down in our heart.
The sin that is buried deep within, creates a much darkened part.
But men in Christ who trust in Him, God gives to them a new start.
Although ones life is like a harlot, Christ will show you how to go.
And though our sin is as scarlet, He’ll make us whiter than snow.
Christ will give you a New Spirit, and in The Spirit you will grow.
All of your sins Christ forgave, this back on the cross of Calvary.
Now matter how darkly depraved, on that cross He set you free.
It was you The Lord had saved, when Christ died upon that tree.
Your sin He did more than cover, for He has washed it all away.
Friend you will soon discover, that in your heart He came to stay.
There His Peace, He will uncover, to fill your heart night and day.

Fast Girls
Fast girls are true, theyre all you really need
No one that stands more responsibility
If youre afraid bout havin to get too deep
Let me, baby, cure your insecurities
Chorus:
Fast girls, a physical attraction
Fast girls, a one on one reaction
Fast girls, true love is guaranteed
Fast girls are all you really need
Fast girls is true like angels in the mornin
Disappear without a warning
Kinda strange that I cant deny
Sweet and fast, youll never ever say goodbye
Repeat chorus
Breakdown
Fast girls like to take your breath away
Words of love, not affairs of yesterday
If strange desires are toying with your fate
Fast love baby will never let you wait
Repeat chorus

Baby Lies So Fast Asleep
Baby lies so fast asleep
That we cannot wake her:
Will the angels clad in white
Fly from heaven to take her?
Baby lies so fast asleep
That no pain can grieve her;
Put a snowdrop in her hand,
Kiss her once and leave her.

Epitaph upon a Child that died
HERE she lies, a pretty bud,
Lately made of flesh and blood:
Who as soon fell fast asleep
As her little eyes did peep.
Give her strewings, but not stir
The earth that lightly covers her.

It Doesn't Seem It But Believe
It doesn't seem it but believe,
The time has flown so fast.
It doesn't seem it but believe,
The time has flown so fast.
One minute we are wiping a nose.
And the next second...
It seems,
We're now all old.
It doesn't seem that the time has flown away so fast.
It doesn't seem it but believe the time has flown so fast.
It doesn't seem it but believe the time has flown so fast.
Was it yesterday we said hello,
To the one we wanted to do that...good rock and roll.
It doesn't seem that the time has flown away so fast.
It doesn't seem it,
But believe...
The time has flown so fast.
It doesn't seem it,
But believe...
Some thoughts we have we should let pass.
You cain't change a game played when it's over.
Nor can you redefine a lover who has gone to another.
Yes as cruel as it can be,
To see a time we lived to see flee fast.
From a rocking seat!
Yes as cruel as it can be,
To see a time we lived to see flee fast.
It doesn't seem it but believe it that the time has flown so fast
From a rocking seat!
You cain't change a game played when it's over.
Nor can you redefine a lover who has gone to another.
It doesn't seem that the time has flown away so fast.
From a rocking seat!
It doesn't seem that the time has flown away so fast.
It doesn't seem it,
But believe...
The time has flown so fast.
From a rocking seat!
It doesn't seem it,
But believe...
Some thoughts we should have let go pass.
From a rocking seat!
And there we sit by a window looking older.
With plans to feed a cat,
At the back door.
Who meows for leftovers.
It doesn't seem that the time has flown away so fast.

Fast Enough For You
If time were only part of the equation
Then you could draw the boundries of our cage
You wouldnt pile another stone upon me
And Id be happy just to watch you age
But everything is in its own dominion
And waiting in the shallows as I do
Appeases me as water slowly trickles out
Which isnt nearly fast enough for you
It isnt nearly fast enough for you
It isnt nearly fast enough for you
Its what I was afraid of
I stumble into view
But it isnt nearly fast enough for you
It isnt nearly fast enough for you

When Sun peeps through the tattered sky I saw dew on the grass!
Our daughter in Australia sent us a digital camera.
Thank you very much!
I ran to the faraway burial grounds in my dreams
To take a photograph of my poor Mom & Dad!
Then the Cemetery Keeper who's smell of Liquor
Stopped me and said; ' Leave them alone as they're fast asleep.'
Still it's a dilemma the skinny drunkard whether he's dead or alive?
*I dedicate this poem to my shadowy friend Paddy Martin who's fast asleep!
Please have a rest as the War still goes on here and there?

Seven o'clock
When the clock strikes 7
i say to myself that time sure does flly
so fast that i don't even realize wahts going in my mind
i say why does time fly when the clock strikes 7
it dosent make sense because when i look up from my homework
i say it's 8 o'clock and my mom will be home soon
like my aunt use to say time fly so fast
that when i fall asleep its now morning and im starting a new day
wow time really does fly!

Hold Fast To The Right
Come and sit by the side of your mother my boy
You have only a moment I know
And stay while I give you this parting advice
It is all that I have to bestow
Hold fast to the right hold fast to the right
Wherever your footsteps may roam
Oh for sake not the the way of salvation my boy
That you've learned from your mother at home
In your satchel you'll find there's a Bible my boy
It's the book of all others the best
It will teach you to live and prepare you to die
And will take to the gates of the blest
Hold fast to the right hold fast to the right...
[ ac.guitar ]
Hold fast to the right hold fast to the right...
Oh hold fast to the right

The Sleeper
As Ann came in one summer's day,
She felt that she must creep,
So silent was the clear cool house,
It seemed a house of sleep.
And sure, when she pushed open the door,
Rapt in the stillness there,
Her mother sat, with stooping head,
Asleep upon a chair;
Fast -- fast asleep; her two hands laid
Loose-folded on her knee,
So that her small unconscious face
Looked half unreal to be:
So calmly lit with sleep's pale light
Each feature was; so fair
Her forehead -- every trouble was
Smooth'd out beneath her hair.
But though her mind in dream now moved,
Still seemed her gaze to rest
From out beneath her fast-sealed lids,
Above her moving breast,
On Ann, as quite, quite still she stood;
Yet slumber lay so deep
Even her hands upon her lap
Seemed saturate with sleep.
And as Ann peeped, a cloudlike dread
Stole over her, and then,
On stealthy, mouselike feet she trod,
And tiptoed out again.
