Delusion Of Saints

The old pagan burials, uninscribed rock,
Secret-keeping mounds,
Have shed the feeble delusions that built them,
They stand inhumanly
Clean and massive; they have lost their priests.
But the cross-bearing stones
Still foot corruption, and their faces carved
With hopes and terrors
At length too savagely annulled to be left
Even ridiculous.
Long-suffering saints, flamelike aspirers,
You have won your reward:
You sleep now as easily as any dead murderer
Or worn-out lecher.
To have found your faith a liar is no thorn
In the narrow beds,
Nor laughter of unfriends nor rumor of the ruinous
Churches will reach you.
As at Clonmacnoise I saw them all ruined,
And at Cong, at Glendalough,
At Monasterboice; and at Kilrnacduagh
All ruined, all roofless
But the great cyclopean-stoned spire
That leans toward its fall.
A place perfectly abandoned of life,
Except that we heard
One old horse neighing across the stone hedges
In the flooded fields.

Liar

Verse 1:
We found a place to be
So far from despondency
But you found a thousand ways
To shadow up my face
-Your kisses turned from hot to cold
-And I felt like a centerfold
-Cheap 'n' nasty with dirty men
-Lookin' for love
-That they never will get
Chorus:
Sitting in the dark just feeling low
I'm ruined to the heart - I'm on the road
To nowhere - to nowhere
If you wanna lie to me again
There is a rotten place they call the end
Just go there - and stay there
Liar (Oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh)
Liar (Oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh)
Verse 2:
You took a quick escape
But left your lies in perfect shape
As long as my memories live
I never will forgive you
-So if we meet somewhere tonight
-You'd better be set to fight
-In the darkness of missing stars
-You won't see me
-But you'll feel me inside
Chorus:
Sitting in the dark just feeling low
I'm ruined to the heart - I'm on the road
To nowhere - to nowhere
If you wanna lie to me again
There is a rotten place they call the end
Just go there - and stay there
Liar (Oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh)
Liar (Oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh)
-The winds of change blow through my soul
-And the warlords try to take control
-I will never rely on you
-And the pain will hit you
-Shame on you
Chorus:
Sitting in the dark just feeling low
I'm ruined to the heart - I'm on the road
To nowhere - to nowhere
If you wanna lie to me again
There is a rotten place they call the end
Just go there - and stay there
Liar (Oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh-oh oh oh oh)

History Stones People.

History stones people.

They stoned Moses, David and Linclon,
history did that for all to see

Marbel and cement,
that's all it leaves behind
of a long changing life.

Great heroes of time,
fall under the mercy
of the sculptor's knife.

History stones faces,
in a way that would make
ecclestias cringe.
History stones feet,
in a way that would make
piligrims cry.

History stones life
to always stay fresh,
yet, what is life without
the sins of the flesh.

All the radical kids
get stoned
and never change
or even move a muscle.

All the sword raising warriors
history stoned
without blood in their veins.

You can see all the victims
that history stoned
when you walk in the park,
they got kings
and queens
hell, they even got Gods.

They are there captive
in history's stones,
never to be again what they were;
wilting flesh and
breakable bones.

People look up at them
they are victims too.
History's stones fall far,
even on to you.

Those stoned to live
are like the ones stoned to die.
enslaved to the search
of the frozen smile.

Life is a burning bush
that doesn't get consumed.
not a dead rock
or a statue of history.
It's a fusing wind
of happinnes and misery.
An exploding volcano
of courage and fear.
It is the stem of the flower
struggling through the seasons
to stand and bloom
above the drying soil.

Life is the fighting wave
you see at sea
forgotten and denied
by the stones of history.

The Lover's Debt

Never again feeble soul to fall,

One more time in life,

Those misty roads of love,

Alone in the rough,

Ruined is the soul.

The soitude may heal,

My wounds and all my heart tears,

May revive the love fears,

Away from love,

May I can survive,

The strain and the pain,

Love ruined in vein,

All that behind left,

After the brackish love is went,

The pain through the vein, and this is the lover's debt,

Ruined By Love

Ruined by love
Ruined by devotion
Ruined by surrender
Ruined by sweetkiss
Ruined by hugfish.

In the light see the dark
See the sky in the earth.
Stone is disappearing
Blood is transforming
Knowledge is blaming.

Waterless river no use
Lightless sun no use
Airless tornado no use
Skyless earth no use
Earthless sky no use.

Useful everything
With eachother
Corelate cooperate
Cohabitate timely
Simultaneously.

Hate and love
War and peace
Both originate
Both vanish with
Dark and light.

Dark and light
Is in our imagination
No body is there for
Modification.
Life is a relation
In love and
In devotion.

Lying Foxes

1950, Quebec

At the age of twelve he believed all they said
Those sly thieves in robes of false piety
Although some of them now may be dead
They destroyed his views with hypocrisy.

As a boy in that Catholic boarding school
He had trusted the priests were pure, holy
But these foxes had made them into little fools
Deceived into thinking they were giving to charity.

The priests sold them cards of some Chinese children
Saying that these were in dire need of Baptism
His donations could help the lost and forsaken
But they've not been in that land of Communism.

That little choir boy wholeheartedly trusting
Was an easy prey for those priests who deceived
They ruined his faith and now he's forsaking
Even God on whom he must truly believe.

Broken Water

As I stand out gazing at the fantasical landscape before me,
I see the waterfalls breaking water and throwing it around amoung
the glittering, curling plants as they drink the sparkling silver water.
It was breathtaking.
More beautiful than the sunset over pure salt water.
I wanted to touch it.
I wanted to pick the flowers glowing with life and bathein the broken water. Clence my hair under the fall
and air-dry on the faces
of the midnight boulders.
The stones would be cold,
the water would be slippery and stain my skin,
and the flowers would smell as if dipped in summer.
I was going to touch it.
I stepped towards the oasis.
My paradise disappeared out of my reach. Out of Man's reach.
I was left alone. Happiness was no longer in front of me.
My head was spinning.
I was so close to an ecstacy,
but I had ruined it all through my greed.

Everywhere We Go

They took Your commandments off the schoolhouse walls
They say it's a crime to even pray within the halls
But bless the child that lets You in and knows without a doubt
Once You live inside a heart, they can't take You out
We are soldiers of the cross
We've been found to reach the lost
In cityy streets, down country roads
We take You with us everyday, and everywhere we go
Here's to those across the land, working in a place
Where the boss man and the government say they can't share their faith
They know all too well they'll lose their job if they get caught
But to win a soul for Jesus, they will risk it all because
We are soldiers of the cross
We've been found to reach the lost
In cityy streets, down country roads
We take You with us everyday, and everywhere we go
In the God of all creation, we put our faith and trust
And give our lives to You 'cause You gave Your life for us
We are soldiers of the cross
We've been found to reach the lost
In cityy streets, down country roads
We take You with us everyday, and everywhere we go
Everywhere we go

Henry The Hermit

It was a little island where he dwelt,
Or rather a lone rock, barren and bleak,
Short scanty herbage spotting with dark spots
Its gray stone surface. Never mariner
Approach'd that rude and uninviting coast,
Nor ever fisherman his lonely bark
Anchored beside its shore. It was a place
Befitting well a rigid anchoret,
Dead to the hopes, and vanities, and joys
And purposes of life; and he had dwelt
Many long years upon that lonely isle,
For in ripe manhood he abandoned arms,
Honours and friends and country and the world,
And had grown old in solitude. That isle
Some solitary man in other times
Had made his dwelling-place; and Henry found
The little chapel that his toil had built
Now by the storms unroofed, his bed of leaves
Wind-scattered, and his grave o'ergrown with grass,
And thistles, whose white seeds winged in vain
Withered on rocks, or in the waves were lost.
So he repaired the chapel's ruined roof,
Clear'd the grey lichens from the altar-stone,
And underneath a rock that shelter'd him
From the sea blasts, he built his hermitage.

The peasants from the shore would bring him food
And beg his prayers; but human converse else
He knew not in that utter solitude,
Nor ever visited the haunts of men
Save when some sinful wretch on a sick bed
Implored his blessing and his aid in death.
That summons he delayed not to obey,
Tho' the night tempest or autumnal wind.
Maddened the waves, and tho' the mariner,
Albeit relying on his saintly load,
Grew pale to see the peril. So he lived
A most austere and self-denying man,
Till abstinence, and age, and watchfulness
Exhausted him, and it was pain at last
To rise at midnight from his bed of leaves
And bend his knees in prayer. Yet not the less
Tho' with reluctance of infirmity,
He rose at midnight from his bed of leaves
And bent his knees in prayer; but with more zeal
More self-condemning fervour rais'd his voice
For pardon for that sin, 'till that the sin
Repented was a joy like a good deed.

One night upon the shore his chapel bell
Was heard; the air was calm, and its far sounds
Over the water came distinct and loud.
Alarmed at that unusual hour to hear
Its toll irregular, a monk arose.
The boatmen bore him willingly across
For well the hermit Henry was beloved.
He hastened to the chapel, on a stone
Henry was sitting there, cold, stiff and dead,
The bell-rope in his band, and at his feet
The lamp that stream'd a long unsteady light

Rainy Day Women #12 & 35

Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good,
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home.
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone.
But i would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor.
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door.
But i would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table.
They'll stone ya when you are young and able.
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck.
They'll stone ya and then they'll say, "good luck."
Tell ya what, i would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, they'll stone you and say that it's the end.
Then they'll stone you and then they'll come back again.
They'll stone you when you're riding in your car.
They'll stone you when you're playing your guitar.
Yes, but i would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.
Well, they'll stone you when you walk all alone.
They'll stone you when you are walking home.
They'll stone you and then say you are brave.
They'll stone you when you are set down in your grave.
But i would not feel so all alone,
Everybody must get stoned.

Sorry

(shawn camp/wynn varble/brice long)
Ooh ooh ooh ooh sorry, ooh ooh ooh ooh sorry
Well I came home from work in the middle of the day
Two hours early, but a little too late
She was coming down the stairs, looking mighty grand
With a big brown suitcase in her hand
I said, whats goin on, baby, whats the deal
She said, I just dont feel like I used to feel
With the devils own smile right out of the blue
She said, I done went and found myself somebody new
She said,
Sorry it didnt work out
Sorry, guess Ill see you around
She ruined my life, left me broken hearted
And all she had to say was, sorry
Well, I laid awake cryin for many a night
I just couldnt seem to get her off my mind
I went to her, got down on my knees
Said, baby, wont ya please come back to me
She said,
Sorry it didnt work out
Sorry, guess Ill see you around
She ruined my life, left me broken hearted
And all she had to say was, sorry
Well, time went by and my poor heart healed
I found me a woman whos love is real
Man shes a looker, the apple of my eye
And every head turns when she walks by
Well, we ran into my old flame the other day
It blew my mind what she had to say
She said, hello, baby, well how have you been
I was hopin maybe we could get together again
And I said,
Sorry it didnt work out
Sorry, guess Ill see you around
You ruined my life and left me broken hearted
And all you had to say was, sorry
You said, sorry

Bold Sky

For he is awkward from the sky so bold,
Felt happy as a fool so long and hard,
Let poems be! Let strength win debarred,
So great is laughter, then the laugh controlled.
My laughter loves my life to trust as gold,
This sentence came tonight I can bombard,
This yard will show my very old graveyard,
In order to then read my lines, the mould.

This rock I found from skies and earth and storm
Shall feed my life, shall live a long long time,
To still be rocks that warn us for the length now.
My real bread stung by bees not giving form
Is being rocks, the sky so bold and prime,
The fields claw at fire, disallow!

The Palace

1902

When I was a King and a Mason - a Master proven and skilled -
I cleared me ground for a Palace such as a King should build.
I decreed and dug down to my levels. Presently, under the silt,
I came on the wreck of a Palace such as a King had built.

There was no worth in the fashion - there was no wit in the plan -
Hither and thither, aimless, the ruined footings ran -
Masonry, brute, mishandled, but carven on every stone:
'After me cometh a Builder. Tell him, I too have known.'

Swift to my use in my trenches, where my well-planned ground-works grew,
I tumbled his quoins and his ashlars, and cut and reset them anew.
Lime I milled of his marbles; burned it, slacked it, and spread;
Taking and leaving at pleasure the gifts of the humble dead.

Yet I despised not nor gloried; yet, as we wrenched them apart,
I read in the razed foundations the heart of that builder's heart.
As he had risen and pleaded, so did I understand
The form of the dream he had followed in the face of the thing he had planned.

* * * * *

When I was a King and a Mason - in the open noon of my pride,
They sent me a Word from the Darkness. They whispered and called me aside.
They said - 'The end is forbidden.' They said - 'Thy use is fulfilled.
'Thy Palace shall stand as that other's - the spoil of a King who shall build.'

I called my men from my trenches, my quarries, my wharves, and my sheers.
All I had wrought I abandoned to the faith of the faithless years.
Only I cut on the timber - only I carved on the stone:
'After me cometh a Builder. Tell him, I too have known! '

Rolling Stone

Sitting on the front porch,
Waiting for you to come home.
Visions of reuniting in my head.
Only bitter-sweet memories, no holidays, no Christmas trees.
Broken promises I've got instead.
How I used to wonder, "Where did I go wrong?
How you could have stayed away so long?"
Thank God for my mother,
Her's was no easy song.
Thank God that He showed me how to get along.
My papa was a rolling stone.
Abandon us and left us 'lone.
And how he broke my heart and hope; had me loose my faith.
Somebody knows what I've been through.
I've understood, I've been there too.
So let me introduce you to my father, Father.
Your story sounds alot like mine.
It's a story heard a thousand times.
Someone hurting leaves in disaray.
Don't you know that God made you more valuable than they ever knew?
You know you can live past their mistakes.
Oh, how I used to wonder "How could all this be?
Someone that you loved so much just turns their back and leaves."
Oh, you need the lover of you soul and
He is able to take care of you annd
He will never leave.
Your papa was a rolling stone.
Abandoned you and left you 'lone.
And how he broke your heart and hope.
He had me loose my faith.
I'm seeing what you're going through.
I understand, I've been there too.
So let me introduce you to my father, Father.
I was lost and out of controle.
Then He found me and saved my soul.
Let me lead you to the one I know.
He can make you whole.
No longer I wonder,
Solid ground under my feet.
I know what my life is worth,
No longer incomplete.
I just want to tell you,
You are truly loved,
By the Maker of the Heavens,
the Creator of the Earth.
You know He's got His hands on you and
That is more than enough.
My papa was a rolling stone.
Abandoned us and left us 'lone.
And how he broke my heart and hope; had me loose my faith.
Somebody saw what I've been through.
They understood, They've been there too.
They gladly introduced me to my father, Father.
Your papa was a rolling stone.
Abandoned you and left you 'lone.
And how he broke your heart and hope.
He had me loose my faith.

Lost My Faith

We both know
That the harder we try
Can't understand it
We're so caught up in the reasons why
Station to station
And we couldn't even say their names
I realized it
Was just a game
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I can see
That if I stay close to your side
All of my pressures now
I know they will subside
If ever you need me
All you gotta do is fall
I hear you sayin'
That you got it all
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I had lost my faith
Long ago
A stranger so it seems
I lie here for you touch
But what I'd like to know
Is why do I want you so much
You say that's all the same
All through my life
I have
Waited for you
And
Have you waited too
are you feeling what I'm feeling
Ohhhh.... I
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I had lost my faith long ago
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I had lost my faith
Long ago
I lost my faith
I lost my faith
I lost my faith
Ohh love

In Your Time

Words and music by bob seger
In your time
The innocence will fall away
In your time
The mission bells will toll
All along
The corridors and river beds
Therell be sign
In your time
Towering waves
Will crash across your southern capes
Massive storms
Will reach your eastern shores
Fields of green
Will tumble through your summer days
By design
In your time
Feel the wind
And set yourself the bolder course
Keep your heart
As open as a shrine
Youll sail the perfect line
And after all
The dead ends and the lessons learned
After all
The stars have turned to stone
Therell be peace
Across the great unbroken void
All benign
In your time
Youll be fine
In your time

Living Stones

As we taste and see God is good, we become in Christ a brotherhood,
One body of believers in The Word, through the Truth that we’ve heard,
We then become New Living Stones, in Christ, whose sacrifice atones,
Making atonement for all our sin, as God laid all our iniquity upon Him.

Upon The Rock God builds each stone, upon The Savior, Christ alone,
We’re being built into a dwelling for, The Spirit sent by Christ our Lord.
The Precious Stone is Jesus Christ, who gives all believers a New Life,
While Christ alone, is our foundation, the Cornerstone of our Salvation.

God called us out of our darkness, and fills us with His Righteousness.
Called out from the darkest of night, to be filled with His Glorious Light.
We come to Christ dead in our sin, but, made alive with a Hope in Him.
A Rock and Fortress is our God, a refuge to flee to on this earthly sod.

A chosen people, a Brotherhood; a Holy Nation and Royal Priesthood.
God’s Glory dwells within all of us, when in the Rock we place our trust.
A special people by God’s election, then given by God a new direction,
To point other sinners to eternity, to God’s praise, honor and His Glory.

As Living Stones, we proclaim, God’s Salvation, in the Rock of shame,
Shame for all nations who do reject, the One who saves all God’s elect.
And now a Precious Rock for those, who believed in the One who rose,
It is that Rock of Ages that we praise, as Stones living out earthly days.

When The Lamp Is Shattered

When the lamp is shattered,
The light in the dust lies dead;
When the cloud is scattered,
The rainbow's glory is shed;
When the lute is broken,
Sweet tones are remembered not;
When the lips have spoken,
Loved accents are soon forgot.

As music and splendor
Survive not the lamp and the lute,
The heart's echoes render
No song when the spirit is mute:--
No song but sad dirges,
Like the wind through a ruined cell,
Or the mournful surges
That ring the dead seaman's knell.

When hearts have once mingled,
Love first leaves the well-built nest;
The weak one is singled
To endure what it once possessed.
O Love! who bewailest
The frailty of all things here,
Why choose you the frailest
For your cradle, your home, and your bier?

Its passions will rock thee,
As the storms rock the ravens on high;
Bright reason will mock thee,
Like the sun from a wintry sky.
From thy nest every rafter
Will rot, and thine eagle home
Leave thee naked to laughter,
When leaves fall and cold winds come.

The Ghost's Story

All my life long I heard the step
Of some one I would know,
Break softly in upon my days
And lightly come and go.

A foot so brisk I said must bear
A heart that's clean and clear;
If that companion blithe would come,
I should be happy here.

But though I waited long and well,
He never came at all,
I grew aweary of the void,
Even of the light foot-fall.

From loneliness to loneliness
I felt my spirit grope--
At last I knew the uttermost,
The loneliness of hope.

And just upon the border land,
Where flesh and spirit part,
I knew the secret foot-fall was
The beating of my heart.

He Battles His Dogs Of Despair

The years have left him looking gray
And he has known a far better day
Around his balding head he has lost more hair
As he battles his dogs of despair.

Though from it's side effects weight he does gain
Medication it does keep him sane
And though all of his good days are gone
His fight is to keep keeping on.

And to live for as long as he can
For what use is a dead woman or man
So he will live till the reaper's call
The one who claims the life of all.

One who has contemplated suicide
When his will to live all but had died
But he is one who has hung in there
For to battle his dogs of despair.

In life 'tis not easy to win
But he never threw the towel in
He bravely faced life's road ahead
Fortune do favour the brave 'tis said.

Mental illness it has ruined his life
Robbed him of the chance of a wife
But to his great gift of life he says yes
As he battles with illness and stress.
