Banned In The U. S. A.
Government of the people
For the people
By the people
[news reporter]:
Earlier today in broward county,
Appalling courtjudges upheld the previousruling
To ban the sale of miami rap group the 2 live crews double-platinum album,
Nasty as they wanna be, in broward county.
[someone else commenting]
We think its the banning of free speech.
First amendment protects material, resultably.
Luke (being interviewed):
We dont talk about, uh, harrassing and sexually brutalizing women in my music, man!
We dont do that in my music, man! Im tired of you saying that!
Verse 1: [fresh kid ice]
Weve got white-collar people trying to grab our style
Saying were too nasty and were 2 live
Corrupted politicians playing games
Bringing us down to boost their fame
They must be joking thinking we will fall
But theyre like flies movin the wall
We stand tall from beginning to end
With the help from fans and all our friends
Freedom of speech will never die
For us to help, our ancestors died
Dont keep thinking that we will quit
Well always stand and never sit
Were 2 live, 2 black, 2 strong
Doing the right thing, and not the wrong
So listen up, yall, to what we say
We wont be banned in the u.s.a.!
Chorus: (3x)
Banned in the usa, I was
[reporter]:
Lukes concerts are for adults
[luke] (being interviewed):
If its an adult show you have to be 18
Our record is a year old, but with all the publicity,
Theres a lot of people ... curiosity is around!
Were selling records to a totally different audience.
I take a precaution that nobody else has not stickered my album, I made
Two versions, two versions two versions..
Verse 2: [brother marquis]
The first amendment gave us freedom of speech
So what you sayin? it didnt include me?
I like to party and have a good time
Theres nothin but pleasure written in our rhyme
I know you dont think well ever quit
Weve got some people on our side who wont take your lip
Were gonna do all the things we wanna do
You cant stand to see a brother get as rich as you
This is the 90s and were conin on strong
Sayin things and doin things that youre sayins wrong
Wisen up, cause on election day,
Well see whos banned in the u.s.a.!
Chorus: (4x)
The united states of america
Government of the people
The united states of america
For the people
The united states of america
By the people
By the people
[luke] (being interviewed):
The show in hollywood, that was for 21-and-over people,
They had police out there, cars of the people coming in the club,
And they still arrested us for performing in front of adults!
[luke] speech:
What is this? ?
Is this not america?
This is not china!
This is not russia!
This is not the place where they brought down the wall, this is america!
We have the right to say what we want to say,
We have the right to do what we want to do,
And what I do in my house, you might not do in your house!
So what I do in my house is my business!
And the simple fact of it all is that we are bonded by the first amendment!
We have the freedom of expression!
We have the freedom of choice!
And you, chinese, black, green, purple, jew,
You have the right to listen to whoever you want to, and even the 2 live crew!
So all you right-wingers, left-wingers, bigots, communists,
There is a place for you in this world!
Because this is the land of the free, the home of the brave!
And 2 live is what we are!

Feel Alright Yall
Verse 1: [fresh kid ice]

Good times are in store, everybody get hype
Motivation of your body is what we do best

Frontin like yourre hard, with a fake gold chain
Tryin to rock the mike, but were on the ball

Verse 2: [brother marquis]
Theyre doggin my mood, but thats all right
Let me discuss and make a fuss with the use of the mike
So as I step to the podium and cause pandemonium
With crowds of people, rockin auditoriums
Screamin, yellin, swayin while Im sayin
My verbal expression while the music is playin
This is for all of yall, I hope you like
This is designed to make you feel all right!

You try to out-recite me, but thats not likely
I can tell whether or not if you hate or if you like me

And Ill do all the things that the people like
Kid ice will excite you when hes on the mike
Its time to act ill and get on the ball

People Like Us
In 1950 when I was born
Papa couldnt afford to buy us much
He said be proud of what you are
Theres something special bout people like us
People like us
(who will answer the telephone)
People like us
(growing as big as a house)
People like us
(gonna make it because)
We dont want freedom
We dont want justice
We just want someone to love.
Someone to love.u
I was called upon in the 3rd grade class
I gave my answer and it caused a fuss
Im not the same as evryone else
And times were hard for people like us
People like us
(who will answer the telephone)
People like us
(growing as big as a house)
People like us
(gonna make it because)
What good is freedom?
God laughs at people like us
I see it coming
Like coming down from above
The clouds roll by and the moon comes up
How long must we live in the heat of the sun
Millions of people are waitin on love
And this is a song about people like us
People like us
(who answe the telephone)
People like us
(growing big as a house)
People like us
(gonna make it because)
We dont want freedom
We dont want justice
We just want someone to love.
Someone to love.
Someone to love.
Someone to love.

Dont Let em Take Your Gun
Ohhh, people why dont you come in here and let me talk to you a while.
Thats right, step right up and listen to a concerned citizen speak his piece.
Ill tell you a little something that my daddy told to me.
My basic fundamentals if you want to be free.
cause son, theres somthing wrong internally.
So, if you want your freedom son.
Dont want your country to be overrun.
You got to keep america number one.
(chorus)
My daddy told me son, dont let em take your gun.
Thats what they tryin to do.
Son, dont let em take your gun.
Theyre takin your bill of rights away from you.
My daddy said son, dont let em take your gun.
Thats what they tryin to do.
Son, dont let em take your gun.
Dont let em take your gun away from you.
Ohhh, this year is our anniversary.
Two hundred years, people weve been free.
Wont be nobody takin over our land.
If everybodys brothers got a gun in his hand.
Im tellin you we learned to fight for justice.
Were willing to die for freedom.
Hand in hand.
You got to understand.
We are american men.
Said they want your gun.
Said they want your gun.
Send em on the run.
Send em on the run.
Hip-hurray for fun.
Hip-hurray for fun.
If they do were done.
If they do were done.

Take A Good Look At Our Home Land
Oh people of America, people of America
Take a good look at our homeland
Do you really understand
Before you finish reading this poem
Do you have a daughter or son
Young people are leaving their home at an early age
Yet, there is a need for someone to be saved
Take a good look at our homeland
Many people are playing in the same band
Along the eastern coast of our nation
What do you see in the making?
Oh America, America, America
Why not be a complete free nation
Do you see this in the making?
For many years our country has been blessed
Now someone inside is making a big mess
Why pick up guns and fight against each other
Why not love as sisters and brothers
Oh something is going wrong today
People are looking the other way
Our POW'S have been freed
Is there another war in the making like most people believe
At Wounded Knee, S.D. our brothers and sisters
Want a little more freedom
Can you see this in the making?
America, America God shared his grace on thee
Yes he shared his grace for you and me
I want you, you and you
To take a good look at our homeland
When you get back will you take a stand?
Maybe you are thinking about playing in the same band
The only thing i ask you and you to do
Love your sisters and brothers
The way God loves me and you

People Hold On
(m. black/j. more/l. stansfield)
Everybodys looking for a meaning
Everybodys doing their own thing
And nobodys solving the problem
Aint nobody helping each other
Some people give into fear
Some people give into hunger
Some of us live for the future
And some of us wonder
Givin into life, givin into love
Maybe theres enough for everyone
Givin into hope, and into trust
Maybe theres enough for everyone
Chorus:
People hold on
Dont do yourself wrong
People hold on
Weve got to be strong
People hold on
Everybodys getting frustrated
Why should we live with this hatered
Weve all dancin on a thin line
Theyre makin out were having a good time
So whos gonna give us the answer
Sister and brother
Givin into life, givin into love
Maybe theres enough for everyone
Chorus
People hold on, people hold on to it
You know you gotta do it
Givin into life, givin into love
Maybe theres enough for everyone
Givin into hope, and into trust
Maybe theres enough for everyone

Short People
Short people
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
To live
They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet
Well, I dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
'round here
Short people are just the same
As you and i
(a fool such as I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(its a wonderful world)
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
To love
They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
Theyre gonna get you every time
Well, I dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
Dont want no short people
round here

Freedom Dance (Get Free!)
When its time to get up youre gonna know it
You gonna get a feeling inside, you gotta show it
Come on relax and put your mind at ease
And forget all your insecurities
You gotta move, nothing can hold you down
And let nothing turn your move around
You start counting up 1-2-3
Come on people just get free
Get free
In the midst of a trouble love
Get free
Gotta find you another one
Get up - come on people just get free
Theres a chance if you open up
Get free
Freedom dance if you open up
Freedom - come on people just
Youve been holding back to long
Now the feeling is much to strong
Take a look at the other side of your heart
And begin to tear the rules apart
No your momma cant help you now
And your daddy cant show you how
You gotta do it all by yourself
And if you need it heres a little help
Get free
In the midst of a trouble love
Get free
Gotta find you another one
Get up - come on people just get free
Theres a chance if you open up
Get free
Freedom dance if you open up
Freedom - come on people just
People listen to me
You dont have to worry - naw, naw
Just get up when youre down
And the whole world around
Will be a better place for me and for you - oh
We got to tell one another
Tell your sister and your brother that
If the world isnt as free like the world ought to be
That the world would be the sight to see

The people of America
We are the people of America
We fly our flags high and
We live in a America with pride
As we hold each other's hend
United is where we stand!
As the TOWERS fell was this the end?
we couldnt tell!
Now we have our act together we
Love each other more then ever!
No one can tear us apart now we
Are joined by the Heart
We saw the terror at ground zero
We all looked forward to
CELEBRATING our Heroes
We are the people of America
We fly our flags high and
We live in America with pride.

Now Or Never
Are we gonna keep pushing our children to drugs?
Are we gonna keep driving them insane?
Are we gonna keep laying empty words and fists?
Are we gonna be remembered as the century that failed?
People of america, when will we learn?
Its now or never, theres no time to lose.
Are we gonna keep sending our youths to war?
Are we gonna keep scaring rice fields and infants?
Are we gonna keep watching dead bodies over dinner?
Are we gonna be known as the century that kills?
People of america, when will we stop?
Its no or never, theres no time to waste.
Are we gonna keep pretending things are alright?
Are we gonna keep our mouths closed just in case?
Are we gonna keep putting off until its too late?
Are we gonna be known as the century of fear?
People of america, when will we see?
Its now or never, weve no time to lose.
People of america, when will we see?
Its now or never, weve no time to lose.
Are we gonna keep digging oil wells and gold?
Are we gonna keep shooting the ones that tries to change?
Are we gonna keep thinking it wont happen to us?
Are we gonna be known as the century that kills?
People of america, please, listen to your soul,
We can change the times to century of hope.
cause dream you dream alone is only a dream,
But dream we dream together is reality.

Miss America
You were the apple of the publics eye as you cut the ribbon at the local mall
A mirage for both you and us. how can it be real?
We love your body in that photograph, your home state sure must be proud
The queen of the united states, or have you lost your crown
Well arent you miss america
Dont you miss america
Wont you miss america
Our love
Well are you really who we think you are
Or does your smile seem to wear you down
Is the girl who you once were screaming jump out
And the dream that you must live - a disease for which there is no cure
This roller coaster ride youre on wont stop to let you off
Well arent you miss america
Dont you miss america
Wont you miss america
Our love
Miss america, miss america
Miss america, miss america
Well its true just take a look - the cover sometimes makes the book
And the judges, do they ever ask to read between your lines
In your cage at the human zoo, they all stop to look at you
Next year, what will you do when you have been forgotten
Well arent you miss america
Dont you miss america
Wont you miss america
Our love

For America
As if I really didnt understand
That I was just another part of their plan
I went off looking for the promise
Believing in the motherland
And from the comfort of a dreamers bed
And the safety of my own head
I went on speaking of the future
While other people fought and bled
The kid I was when I first left home
Was looking for his freedom and a life of his own
But the freedom that he found wasnt quite as sweet
When the truth was known
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
Its in my blood and in my bones
By the dawns early light
By all I know is right
Were going to reap what we have sown
As if freedom was a question of might
As if loyalty was black and white
You hear people say it all the time-
My country wrong or right
I want to know what thats got to do
With what it takes to find out whats true
With everyone from the president on down
Trying to keep it from you
The thing I wonder about the dads and moms
Who send their sons to the vietnams
Will they really think their way of life
Has been protected as the next war comes?
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
Her shining dream plays in my mind
By the rockets red glare
A generations blank stare
We better wake her up this time
The kid I was when I first left home
Was looking for his freedom and a life of his own
But the freedom that he found wasnt quite as sweet
When the truth was known
I have prayed for america
I was made for america
I cant let go till she comes around
Until the land of the free
Is awake and can see
And until her conscience has been found

Love To Hate
Love is a positive vibration
With love you find the good in a bad situation
Everybodys gonna need a helping hand
It dont really matter where you stand
Youre gonna need someone to lean on
Hate is a constant inflammation
A fire thats built on fear and frustration
One mans heaven is another mans hell
Every story has got two sides to tell
Dont let anybody pull you under
Some people just love to hate
They criticize when they cant relate
Some people dont love, they just love to hate
Some people can hardly wait
To tear down what you create
Cause some people dont love, they just love to hate
Somebody attacks without a reason
Hes just trying to drag you down in the hole that hes in
Why are people so negative
I think that everybody ought to just live and let live
We could use a little understanding
Chorus
I guess some people been pushed around
Now theyre trying to even it up by putting somebody else down
I believe that things can only get better
When everybody learns to live together

Land of the Free (c) 3-29-08
Land of the Free home of the brave
Land of disease home of the slave
Freedom of religion Freedom of speech
Freedom of press and freedom to breach
Freedom to steal freedom to take
Freedom to carry guns and Freedom to break
The laws of the man and the laws of the word
Freedom from peace but to still use the bird
The only home of brave and Land of the Free
The land who rules based off democracy
Freedom to starve and Freedom to be poor
Freedom to break and enter someone’s door
Freedom to lay off workers and close off jobs
Freedom to take what they want and to rob
Freedom of abortion Freedom of extortion
Freedom to own land and give everyone their portion
Freedom for action by any means necessary
But what their picture of that can really be scary
Freedom to wage war without our consent for our hours to be spent
Freedom to take our money then make us pay rent
Land of the prospering riches and of those who don’t care for the
People who live in the FREE old America

Man, Not A Myth
[intro]
Ah.. just a minute, erm,
This is a little to controversial, and I don't think.. erm,
We are going to be up and here comes that black
Watch yourself, he is kind of smart, you know...
Verse 1: [fresh kid ice]
This story began five years ago
Took a funky idea and began to roll
By doing something that was never done
While getting paid, still having fun
Being explicit straight from the streets
Not forgettin our roots to an up-tempo beat
Taking what they say just for granted
For us to give up, thats what they wanted
To do it all, wed be taking shorts
cause at that time we were given no thought
To follow another; we didnt see it
Were the example for others to see
In the beginning all we had was a phone
And trust in each other was how we lived on
Word was bond, we relied on true
Faith in each other backed up by luke
Chorus:
We are
Ghetto style
Perched in the south
The king of the ghetto
The man, not a myth
Verse 2: [brother marquis]
The journey was long, but we fought the struggle
We paid off in the end by the bundles
In the beginning, some were against us
But we proved them wrong, and made them envious
So we kept on writing, the public kept on buying
What we were making, they took a-likin
We found the market, hit the target
We started the fire, but its you who sparked it
We stayed independent, and we didnt sell out
We started off with no help from the white house
The plot was perfect, though we needed a gimmick
So we thought up this dance called throw the dizznick
In no time at all, things started growin
Charts were showin that sales were soarin
Then all the talkin, all the squawkin,
They tried to take the name, but keep skyy-walkin
Chorus
Verse 3: [fresh kid ice]
A black thing, from beginning to end
Brothers in the business and loyal friends
Steppin on stages, movin as one
For the money and for the fun
No matter how it goes, how bad it seems,
When once seem down, we all come clean
[brother marquis]
In unity, we all stand strong
We all step together,
No man walks alone
No matter what, they cant stop us
They aint doin us just cause, when its just us
Any circumstance we must overcome
Lets keep the dream alive, and all get some
And never mind those people with the negative vibes
And never mind the people with the evil eyes
cause they all flippin somewhere out on a trip
cause they dont understand the man and the myth
Chorus

Dont Wanna Be Like That
Ok let me tell you bout some of the things Im going through
I know you think that you know but how do you know
That what you know is true
Well maybe its time for getting out of line
It seems like the done thing to do
Some people get crazy
Some people get lazy
Some people get hazy
Some people get out
Take me away I said take me away
I dont wanna be like that
Dont wanna be like that
Now the cocaine dens says welcome
Youre in college now not in school
But Im sorry to say that Im going out to work
While youre going to the swimming pool
Where the l.a. sun can turn your brains
To scrambled eggs its true
Some people get crazy
Some people get lazy
Some people get hazy
Some people get out
Take me away I said take me away
I dont wanna be like that
Dont wanna be like that
Some people think that they know about some girls
Some people think theyre cool
And some girls think they know about me
Some girls think Im some fool
And american girls that put their tongue in your ear
When they talk on the telephone
And the stars only come out at night
When the press and photographers moan and groan
And the playboy centerfold leaves me cold
And that aint cause Im a fag
So you playboys can just go play with yourself
Thats your style
cause thats a drag
Take me away I said take me away
I dont wanna be like that
Dont wanna be like that

In Every Way!
how many people are blind?
how many people are deaf?
how many by choice?
perhaps you still have jobs,
homes, food to eat, medical care.
perhaps you have investments,
a way to retire....
perhaps your family is happy,
and well taken care of...
i hope so for you!
millions of people hurting,
millions in need...
millions of children hungry,
millions who cant get an education.
millions enslaved by poverty,
millions left alone....
people with faces and names.
all of these are normal people.
whatever their language, their religion,
their sexual orientation.
all of these are people just like you.
and many of these have families,
just like you!
is it their fault they're victims?
perhaps they've worked their whole lives.
male, female, young, old.....
all people,
with mothers and fathers....
all people....
and no, America is not free.
the news we watch is tainted.
the truth is hidden from us.
killing people around the world
does not make us free....
books are being banned and burned,
prejudice and discrimination are rampant.
we have forgotten we are responsible for each other,
we have forgotten we are all immigrants here.
there are no illegal people,
all people are just people.
freedom demands equality,
in every way!
