Spanish Peasant

We have no aspiration vain
For paradise Utopian,
And here in our sun-happy Spain,
Though man exploit his fellow man,
To high constraint we humbly yield,
And turn from politics to toil,
Content to till a kindly field
And bring forth bounty from the soil.

They tell us wars will never cease;
They sy the world is out of joint.
How well we Know! But peace is peace
Even imposed at pistol point.
And we have learnt our lesson well,
By many a death, by many a tear;
So let us live a feudal spell, -
The cost of freedom is too dear.

Let us be the cattle kind,
Praying the goad be not a sword;
In servitude obeying blind
The tyrant ruling of our Lord.
His army can be swift to slay,
His Church teach us humility . . .
But never never will we pay
Again blood-price for Liberty.

Peace Will Come

(e) i'm praying for the day, when the (a) whole wide world can say,
That this (e) cruel war it is (b7) o'er,
And the (e) boys who are gone, start their (a) long journey home,
Oh i'm (e) praying for the (b7) day when peace will (e) come.
When the black clouds roll away, and the skies are bright and gay,
And the guns are silent once more,
And the bombs no longer fly, from the planes up in the sky,
Oh i'm praying for the day when peace will come.
Oh there's mother and dad, don't you know they'll be so glad,
To see their son's coming home,
This old world will rock with joy, for that freedom loving boy,
Oh i'm praying for the day when peace will come.
Sweethearts and wives so dear, who have waited for that year,
For their loved ones to return,
This old world will be so gay, on that great and happy day,
Oh i'm praying for the day when peace will come.

Peace

When will you ever, Peace, wild wooddove, shy wings shut,
Your round me roaming end, and under be my boughs?
When, when, Peace, will you, Peace? I’ll not play hypocrite
To own my heart: I yield you do come sometimes; but
That piecemeal peace is poor peace. What pure peace allows
Alarms of wars, the daunting wars, the death of it?

O surely, reaving Peace, my Lord should leave in lieu
Some good! And so he does leave Patience exquisite,
That plumes to Peace thereafter. And when Peace here does house
He comes with work to do, he does not come to coo,
He comes to brood and sit.

The Ultimate Sacrifice

When nations turn from peace to war,
Each soul must question why...
When Death itself is at the door,
To bring its long goodbye...
To think, that leaders lead us all,
To back them to the hilt.
It's then we see our heroes fall,
When each of them is killed...
When little children shake their heads,
Disgusted at such things,
It's right to pray beside our beds,
Condemning what war brings.
The need for guns and bullets grows
And even bombs are made -
Efficiently Man fights his foes
And in their graves they're laid...
Who knows the good they could have done,
If peace had been their lot,
Instead of wars that must be won,
When nations turn from God?
If only love lived in each heart,
We'd share God's Paradise,
Instead of this, new conflicts start
And blood's our sacrifice...
For some, the cost was loss of health...
For some, it's wasted time...
For some, the cost was death itself,
When they were in their prime.
Is this the wisest way to live,
With bombs and bullets, too?
Christ's sacrifice helps God forgive
The evil that men do...

Return To Silence

Return to silence
We need no violence
Fighting for freedom in a restless world
We are praying for peace
Without pain and disease
Heal the world and close your eyes
Return to silence
Return to silence
We need no violence
Fighting for freedom
Return to silence
Praying for peace
Pain and disease
Where is a real paradise
Where is the land without lies
We just have to find a better way
The loss of heaven is the price we pay
No more nightmares each and every day
We don't need any wars
People wanna change course
They want the union of love
Where's a heavenly place
For the whole human race
Without weapons and wars
Every being on earth, needs a dream in his soul
We need our freedom, let loose of control
The older we get the less we see our way
We think of the past, but now we are trapped
And if I want to know why, we are trying to deny
The loss of heaven's road, is the price we have to pay
Stop violence, let's come to one's sense
Return to innocence
Somewhere inside, we still feel to be a child
Where the eyes are big and the problems being mild
If we try to go against, the current of events
Sometimes we gonna loose but we have to take the chance
Always have in mind, things should change in peace
Searching for someone to help, the sad and lonely trough
It can be me or you, so what we gonna do
I have a clue, for me and for you

What Price

What price peace n' freedom?
How much will we endure?
To keep from losing forever
what others suffered for.

Ask first the loved ones
of warriors who went away.
The price they paid as well.
Fearing death's visit day by day.

Consider then those brave ones.
Who without question stepped forward.
Defied and defeated evil's challenge.
Peace n' freedom their only reward.

What price peace n' freedom?
Does the yield equal the demand?
Are we willing to pay the fare.
To keep oppression from our land?

Let us remember well
when these ideals we abuse.
If we are not prepared to pay.
These treasures we shall lose.

Oh, Stop the Wars, Man!

Oh, stop the wars, Man
Let peace prevail again;
Wars bring more death
And destruction, not peace;
Christmas is near-
The birthday of Jesus;
He brings both joy
And peace to good-willed men!

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
For, they are meaningless;
No nation should
Invade the other;
The blood of innocent lives lost
Cries out to God for revenge;
Violence begets
Violence always.

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
And stop the mad killings;
The air and soil
And water get polluted;
What colossal wastes
Of lives, money and materials!
Do leaders know
That wars boomerang?

Oh, stop the wars, Man!
Let nations live in peace;
Nature’s furies,
We must always face.
Use the money
To build the earth,
And help the poor.
Only then, God will bless
Your own country!

The World Needs Peace, Not Through Wars!

What loss of lives and destruction!
Can lives all lost ever return?
How many more will have to die?
Can one man’s death bring back lives lost?
What pollution, a war can add!

Let Cats who declare wars on mice,
Take the blame and pay the price!
War is a gambling game like dice;
War is a futile exercise.

One cannot fight wars with mere knives;
War is a waste of human lives;
Alas, will nations realize
That keeping peace is always wise?

Wars can begin without a cause;
The world can’t have a single boss!
One nation can’t stifle the rest,
Or try to be always the best.

The world body must give OK!
The world must say to wars, all ‘nay’;
For lasting peace, war isn’t the way!
The cost of wars, who will repay?

The world must find out other ways,
Avoiding wars in future days;
Each nation must unmask its face,
And set on peace, its gaze always!

Let There Be Peace

Let there be peace in the world.
Let us all see peace and not war.
For If there is no peace in the world,
Then the world will be no more.
But if we find peace in our hearts
And turn our backs to war,
Then the world will prosper and live forevermore.
For peace is stronger than hate
And hate is weaker than peace.
Let there be peace in the world, let peace never cease.
Let there be peace in the world, let war forever cease.

The Dons of Spain

The Eagle screams at the beck of trade, so Spain, as the world goes round,
Must wrestle the right to live or die from the sons of the land she found;
For, as in the days when the buccaneer was abroad on the Spanish Main,
The national honour is one thing dear to the hearts of the Dons of Spain.

She has slaughtered thousands with fire and sword, as the Christian world might know;
We murder millions, but, thank the Lord! we only starve 'em slow.
The times have changed since the days of old, but the same old facts remain –
We fight for Freedom, and God, and Gold, and the Spaniards fight for Spain.

We fought with the strength of the moral right, and they, as their ships went down,
They only fought with the grit to fight and their armour to help 'em drown.
It mattered little what chance or hope, for ever their path was plain,
The Church was the Church, and the Pope the Pope – but the Spaniards fought for Spain.

If Providence struck for the honest thief at times in the battle's din –
If ever it struck at the hypocrite – well, that's where the Turks came in;
But this remains ere we leave the wise to argue it through in vain –
There's something great in the wrong that dies as the Spaniards die for Spain.

The foes of Spain may be kin to us who are English heart and soul,
And proud of our national righteousness and proud of the lands we stole;
But we yet might pause while those brave men die and the death-drink pledge again –
For the sake of the past, if you're doomed, say I, may your death be a grand one, Spain!

Then here's to the bravest of Freedom's foes who ever with death have stood –
For the sake of the courage to die on steel as their fathers died on wood;
And here's a cheer for the flag unfurled in a hopeless cause again,
For the sake of the days when the Christian world was saved by the Dons of Spain.

G.K. Chesterton

An Alliance

This is the weird of a world-old folk,
That not till the last link breaks,
Not till the night is blackest,
The blood of Hengist wakes.
When the sun is black in heaven,
The moon as blood above,
And the earth is full of hatred,
This people tells its love.

In change, eclipse, and peril,
Under the whole world's scorn,
By blood and death and darkness
The Saxon peace is sworn;
That all our fruit be gathered,
And all our race take hands,
And the sea be a Saxon river
That runs through Saxon lands.

Lo! not in vain we bore him;
Behold it! not in vain,
Four centuries' dooms of torture
Choked in the throat of Spain,
Ere priest or tyrant triumph -
We know how well - we know -
Bone of that bone can whiten,
Blood of that blood can flow.

Deep grows the hate of kindred,
Its roots take hold on hell;
No peace or praise can heal it,
But a stranger heals it well.
Seas shall be red as sunsets,
And kings' bones float as foam,
And heaven be dark with vultures,
The night our son comes home.

Today... 'Author of Peace

No more confusion the world will be at peace
all killing will stop and all the wars will cease.
So do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid
for the Author of Peace the ransom has paid.

The Lord has blessed His people by His grace
and laid down His life for the human race.
Perfect peace now replaces the guilt of sin
and the blood of Jesus whispers peace within.

Sonnet: Whither Global Peace?

The world wants Peace and labours towards it;
Thro' dialogues and joint-efforts and talks;
Security of life's always at threat;
Despite the cost and progress in all walks.

But Peace at what cost, so phenomenal?
And global peace is transient thro' war,
Effects on earth are international,
As Death can be caused from a near-by star.

Some people get too Nobel Prize for Peace;
Fragile and maintained by the Gun's barrel;
with Terrorism now a new disease,
Eluding cure as Nations fall unwell.

How can the world go on without Peace?
And how exorbitant shall be its fees?

The Single Tear Drop of Peace

The Single Tear Drop of Peace

What if all the tear drops, of all the world,
Were added together for only one year?

Peace would spread near and far
With every rainstorm everywhere.

We would have a river of peace,
A pool of tranquility across all oceans.

All seashores would rest in silent prayer
From those whose tears washed hatred away.

All death and destruction would vanish from here
With each and every tear dropp this day.

No more would we kill each other.
No more would we hurt our brother.

No more would wars rain down upon us,
Instead, peace would reign across all lands.

It all started one day with but a single

Ode to Peace

I.

She comes, benign enchantress, heav'n born PEACE!
With mercy beaming in her radiant eye;
She bids the horrid din of battle cease,
And at her glance the savage passions die.
'Tis Nature's festival, let earth rejoice,
And pour to Liberty exulting songs,
In distant regions, with according voice,
Let Man the vict'ry bless, its prize to Man belongs.

II.

Resistless Freedom! when she nerves the arm,
No vulgar triumph crowns the hero's might;
She, she alone can spread a moral charm
O'er war's fell deeds, and sanctify the fight.
O, GALLIA ! in this bright immortal hour,
How proud a trophy binds thy laurel'd brow!
Republic, hail! whose independent power
All earth contested once, all earth confesses now.

III.

Protecting spirits of the glorious dead!
Ah, not in vain the hero's noble toil,
Ah, not in vain the patriot's blood is shed,
That blood shall consecrate his native soil.
Illustrious names! to hist'ry's record dear,
And breath'd when some high impulse fires the bard,
For you shall virtue pour the glowing tear,
And your remember'd deeds shall still your country guard.

IV.

And thou, lov'd BRITAIN , my parental Isle!
Secure, encircled by thy subject waves,
Thou, land august, where Freedom rear'd her pile,
While gothic night obscur'd a world of slaves;
Thy genius, that indignant heard the shock
Of frantic combat, strife unmeet for thee,
Now views triumphant, from his sea-girt rock,
Thee unsubdued alone, for thou alone wert free!

V.

O, happy thy misguided efforts fail'd,
My Country! when with tyrant-hosts combin'd--
O, hideous conquest, had thy sword prevail'd,
And crown'd the impious league against mankind!
Thou nurse of great design, of lofty thought,
What homicide, had thy insensate rage
Effac'd the sacred lesson thou hast taught,
And with thy purest blood inscrib'd on glory's page.

VI.

Ah, rather haste to Concord's holy shrine,
Ye rival nations, haste with joy elate;
Your blending garlands round her altar twine,
And bind the wounds of no immortal hate:
Go--breathe responsive rituals o'er the sod
Where Freedom martyrs press an early grave;
Go--vow that never shall their turf be trod
By the polluting step of tyrant or of slave.

VII.

And from your shores the abject vices chase,
That low Ambition generous souls disdain,
Corruption blasting every moral grace,
Servility that kneels to bless his chain;
O, Liberty, those demons far remove,
Come, nymph severely good, sublimely great!
Nor to the raptur'd hope of mortals prove
Like those illusive dreams that pass the iv'ry gate.

VII.

New Age! that roll'st o'er man thy dawning year,
Ah, sure all happy omens hail thy birth,
Sure whiter annals in thy train appear,
And purer glory cheers the gladden'd earth:
Like the young eagle, when his stedfast glance
Meets the full sun-beam in his upward flight,
So thou shalt with majestic step advance,
And fix thy dauntless eye on Liberty and Light.

Peaceful Prayers

Let there be peace in the world.
Let us all see peace and not war.
Let us all have peace in the world.
Let all our statesmen know no violence,
Let all love peace with warm vehemence,
Let all be clothed with passionate patience,
Let all respect peace with real reverence.
Let peace pervade every political terrain,
Let peace calm the spirits of every domain,
Let peace be at peace with every reign,
Let each achieve peace with poor pain.
Peace, to you we plead: come to us.
Peace, we entreat you: deign on us.
Peace, we want you: envelope us.
Let our homes be adorned with peace,
Let our streets be paved with peace,
Let our cities be set on a hilltop of peace.
Let peace taint our every thought.
Let there be peace, let peace never cease
Let there be peace, let war forever cease.

Philippians In Poetry

Whether I live or whether I die
May Christ be magnified in me
Whether I go to my Father on high
Let Christ be all that they see

I am not afraid to die
I long to be away from this place
I'll take my wings, to His glory I'll fly
That I may behold His face

To live is Christ and to die is gain
For the Kingdom dwells in my heart
No matter what I suffer, no matter the pain
From my Jesus I am never apart

So let men do what ere they may
For I shall suffer for His sake
I will raise my hands to God and pray
For my soul is His and His to take

So let us stand together as one
In the gospel of Christ our Lord
And we shall stand till the day is done
With the Lamb and the Blood and the Sword

Stand fast my brothers and do not yield
When the enemy comes in like a flood
We shall live or die on the battle-field
For we are covered by Emmanuel's Blood

He took on the form of a bondservant
And came in the likeness of man
Glory stepped down into darkness
And the fulfillment of God's holy plan

And He humbled Himself and was obedient
And was willing to suffer the loss
Of His glory and majesty of heaven above
And die, even the death of the cross

Therefore God has highly exalted Him
With the name which is above every name
And forever the name of Jesus
The angels will sing of its fame

And every knee in heaven and earth
Shall bow to Christ the King
And every tongue will confess His name
And all their praises they will sing

So walk with the Lord and do His will
And seek only heavenly treasure
And He will do a work in you
That's His will and for His good pleasure

Children of God, walk without fault
In the midst of a crooked generation
Let your light so shine before men
That they too may find salvation

Rejoice in the Lord always
And lift His holy name
Rejoice in the Lord, the God of all
Who never leaves us the same

You can grow up in the church
And go through the motions
You can sing the hymns
And read the devotions

You can do all of that
And do it with zeal
But if you dont't know the Lord
Then what's the deal?

But just one moment
In His glorious presence
To know who He is
Just know His essence

will render all religion
Perfectly meaningless
As we kneel at His throne
In the beauty of Holiness

Now everything before
We count as lost
As we embrace the throne
As we embrace the cross

This knowledge of our God
To be found in Him
Makes the things of the world
Grow strangly dim

His inpenatrable light
Is what makes this world dim
All that now counts
Is that I know Him

Not that I am perfect
But I press on in
To grow closer to God
To grow further from sin

And now I forget
Those things left behind
I now look forward
For I'm no longer blind

And with those eyes
He has given to me
I look to the Lord
To be all that I see

He fills up my vision
With His glory above
He fills this new heart
With His glorious love

Even though I must suffer
The loss of all things
My heart could care less
To my Saviour it clings

So avoid at all cost
I tell you with weeping
The enemies of the cross
Who would keep you all sleeping

For their end is destruction
And they seek only gold
They will wither and die
As God's judgments unfold

Be anxious for nothing
And stand by His side
Lift your prayers to the Lord
Do not run, do not hide

And everything in prayer
And by supplication
You must fall to you knees
In humble adoration

And with a thankfull heart
He fills you with peace
Lift your hands to the King
May your worship never cease

And this peace that surpasses
All understanding
Will guard your heart through Jesus
With a peace that's outstanding

For whatever things are noble
And whatever things are true
Meditate on these
That's what you must do

Think about virtue
And what's worthy of praise
Whatever things are lovely
Dwell on these all your days

And learn to be content
And walk without need
For the Lord is our resource
He's our provider indeed

And whether we are hungry
Or whether we're full
We will tell the whole world
He reigns and rules

For I can do all things
For Christ strengthens me
He's the King of all Kings
He has set me free

According to His riches
He'll supply every need
He's the giver of life
He's the sower of seed

Emancipation Hymn

Praise we the Lord! let songs resound
To earth’s remotest shore!
Songs of thanksgiving, songs of praise —
For we are slaves no more.

Praise we the Lord! His power hath rent
The chains that held us long!
His voice is mighty, as of old,
And still His arm is strong.

Praise we the Lord! His wrath arose,
His arm our fetters broke;
The tyrant dropped the lash, and we
To liberty awoke!

Praise we the Lord! let ho’y songs
Rise from these happy isles! —
O! let us not unworthy prove,
On whom His bounty smiles.

And cease we not the fight of faith
Till all mankind be free;
Till mercy o’er the earth shall flow,
As waters o’er the sea.

Then shall indeed Messiah’s reign
Through nil the world extend;
Then swords to ploughshares shall be turned,
And Heaven with earth shall blend.

Money Is But A False God

This very word can bring such joy,
It can also cause us such fear,
Lift you up yet it can also destroy,
Make you smile or even shed a tear.

It's something we claim we can't live without,
Yet it causes us all so much stress,
Worshippers of this God are so devout,
Do you love it, they'll always say yes.

Some will have plenty while others do not,
Those without are the most in need,
The ones who have plenty keep all they've got,
They become over obsessed with greed.

This stuff will not make you happy,
Contrary to what they might say,
If you lose it you will feel quite snappy,
It's guaranteed to lead you astray.

It will never bring you love or peace,
That can only come from within,
Without it all world problems would cease,
It's the cause of all major sin.

It's the one true cause of world wars,
Disputes of every kind,
The poor and weak it really abhors,
It can make an honest man blind.

This cannot give you the gift of life,
It won't adhere you to family and friends,
Though it can and will be the cause of strife,
When your life finally ends.

People worship it all over the Earth,
They really need to ask why,
For when it's time for your ship to berth,
It's no use to you when you die.

It can bring down institutions,
Force our world governments to fail,
It causes more problems than solutions,
Yet to some it's the Holy Grail,

It's the root of all evil we know that is true,
Why we worship it is really quite odd,
Health and happiness it will never accrue.
That's why,

What is Peace? ?

What is peace? ?

Peace is when you care for others,
Peace is when there is no violence in the world,
Peace is much more powerful then evil,
Peace is easily found when you give others what you desire,
Peace is the answer to all the wars in the world,
Peace is when there is unity among all the people,
Peace is when your soul can rest,
Peace is when there is hope of good above,
Peace is when there is love for others,
Peace is when there is acceptance in the world,
Peace is bringing joy to the world,
Peace is in helping others

This is what Peace is,
This and much more!
