Robert Louis Stevenson

Love's Vicissitudes

AS Love and Hope together
Walk by me for a while,
Link-armed the ways they travel
For many a pleasant mile -
Link-armed and dumb they travel,
They sing not, but they smile.

Hope leaving, Love commences
To practise on the lute;
And as he sings and travels
With lingering, laggard foot,
Despair plays obligato
The sentimental flute.

Until in singing garments
Comes royally, at call -
Comes limber-hipped Indiff'rence
Free stepping, straight and tall -
Comes singing and lamenting,
The sweetest pipe of all.

These Roads

Walking thru these streets
meeting crossroads of hope and some of loss
will i take the right road
will i venture into the curves and bumps carved into the foundation formed from years of repetitive travel
I am not the only one who travels these roads
passing by with tears in their eyes are ones who travel with hope in their hearts to find that glimpse of happiness and sanity in for which they look
I must indure my sentance of weary travel
my friend we shall not travel this road alone
take my hand for we shall walk this road together till we reach the end.

Shut-Up And Smile

It's not the end of the world
In fact its not even the end of the summer
But thank God the TV is on
Cause theres no way we could know
Anything thats going down
Or How we're supposed to be feeling about it
I can't tell you how much I wish we could Shut up and Smile
Yeah
Sail around the world and tell them all to keep singing it
La-la-la-la-la
All we need's a hamony and we'll convince the world to sing
La-la-la-la-la
Throw your arms around someone (Throw your arms around someone)
Maybe spread a little love
I know it sounds a little dumb (Maybe I'm a little drunk)
But all we need is some ice-cream and a hug
Take a good look around
Does life really suck? Are we just complaining?
I hope that this mic is on (testing 1,2)
Cause I'm on a role here
I hope this is making some sense
I hope that you'll throw up your hands and sing it
And tell all the haters that they should just shut up and smile
But all we need is some ice-cream
All we need is love and beer and old school medal and holiday cheer to be happy
All you need is someone near (like ben & jerrys)
To hold you close and pretend that they care
Cant we all just get along now?
We found something that we've all got in common now
We can hold hands
Do kegs dance
Water ski it sounds great to me now
Sail around the world and tell them all to keep singing it
La-la-la-la-la
All we need's a hamony and we'll convince the world to sing
La-la-la-la-la
Throw your arms around someone (Throw your arms around someone)
Maybe spread a little love
I know it sounds a little dumb (Maybe I'm a little drunk)
But all we need is some ice-cream and a hug (X4)
All we need is love and beer (X4)

Daily Our Love Does Somehow Increase (Wreathed Octave)

Daily our love does somehow increase
with some gentle ease you charmingly smile
and a while feelings linger and do not cease
and I have peace as I travel mile by mile
while nothing can beguile the joy you bring
as love is happening and you become part of me
and I am free as the birds that happily sing
free from every sting as life is what it has to be.

Minstrels Song

Words a simple song
A minstrel sings
A way of life in his eyes
Hear the morning call of waking birds
When they are singing, bringing
Love - love.
Everywhere love is all around,
Everywhere love is all around.
Now the winters gone
Cold wind has blown
The endless stream in our lives
Where the minstrel sings
This simple song
Hes always bringing, singing,
Love - love.
Everywhere love is all around,
Everywhere love is all around.
Listen to the one
Who sings of love.
Follow our friend,
Our wandering friend,
Listen to the one,
Who sings of love.
Everywhere love is around,
Around, around.
Here the nations sing
Our minstrels song,
As he walks by in their lives
Soon the spring will come,
And everyone will all be singing, bringing
Love - love
Everywhere love is all around,
Everywhere love is all around.
Listen to the one
Who sings of love.
Follow our friend,
Our wandering friend,
Listen to the one,
Who sings of love.
Everywhere love is around,
Around, around.

Travel to the place...

Travel to the place
Where mind set to peace,
No one can see,
Feel us free.

Travel to the place
Where we can breathe,
Fill our desire,
We wish; we aspire.

Travel to the place
Where we have silence,
Flower of fragrance,
And nature to admire.

Travel to the place
Where we can write,
Lines of rhyme,
At any time.

Travel to the place
Where we have enough space,
Work without race,
No tension on face.

Travel to the place
Where we can dance,
Sing at glance,
Bit of time to romance.

Travel to the place
Where we spread love,
Freedom to serve
And land to move.

Travel to the place
Where we can live,
Of joy and sprinkle its grace,
And do anything, anywhere.

Robert of Lincoln

Merrily swinging on brier and weed,
Near to the nest of his little dame,
Over the mountain-side or mead,
Robert of Lincoln is telling his name.
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Snug and safe is this nest of ours,
Hidden among the summer flowers.
Chee, chee, chee.

Robert of Lincoln is gayly dressed,
Wearing a bright, black wedding-coat;
White are his shoulders, and white his crest,
Hear him call in his merry note,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Look what a nice, new coat is mine;
Sure there was never a bird so fine.
Chee, chee, chee.

Robert of Lincoln's Quaker wife,
Pretty and quiet, with plain brown wings,
Passing at home a patient life,
Broods in the grass while her husband sings,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Brood, kind creature, you need not fear
Thieves and robbers while I am here.
Chee, chee, chee.

Modest and shy as a nun is she;
One weak chirp is her only note;
Braggart, and prince of braggarts is he,
Pouring boasts from his little throat,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Never was I afraid of man,
Catch me, cowardly knaves, if you can.
Chee, chee, chee.

Six white eggs on a bed of hay,
Flecked with purple, a pretty sight:
There as the mother sits all day,
Robert is singing with all his might,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Nice good wife that never goes out,
Keeping house while I frolic about.
Chee, chee, chee.

Soon as the little ones chip the shell,
Six wide mouths are open for food;
Robert of Lincoln bestirs him well,
Gathering seeds for the hungry brood:
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
This new life is likely to be
Hard for a gay young fellow like me.
Chee, chee, chee.

Robert of Lincoln at length is made
Sober with work, and silent with care,
Off is his holiday garment laid,
Half forgotten that merry air,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
Nobody knows but my mate and I,
Where our nest and our nestlings lie.
Chee, chee, chee.

Summer wanes; the children are grown;
Fun and frolic no more he knows;
Robert of Lincoln's a hum-drum drone;
Off he flies, and we sing as he goes,
Bob-o'-link, bob-o'-link,
Spink, spank, spink,
When you can pipe that merry old strain,
Robert of Lincoln, come back again.
Chee, chee, chee.

For You Mother

FOR YOU MOTHER

Here is a little poem,
to a mother sweet and mine,
I hope when this poem reachs you,
that you are feeling fine,
I know you're in the old southwest,
Arizona to be exact,
in sunshine and warm air, although,
it is not always so, this I know is fact,
I know you're always a lady.
as sweet as you can be,
and mother I'm so happy,
that you belong to me,
of all my friends and relatives,
neighbors and all the rest,
it is my own sweet mother,
that I love the best,
when are you coming,
to visit for a while,
when at last I see you,
then I can really smile,
I know you like to travel,
our wild west all o'er,
I hope that soon you'll travel,
straight to my front door,
I love to see the sparkle,
in your brown and loving eyes,
in your heart I know,
is a love that never dies,
I hope you come a calling,
and set my heart aglow,
I really want to see you,
because I miss you so.

Marvellous Travel

I travel with my eyes,
Watching those silently cry,
Asking themselves the question why,
Someone left them without saying goodbye;

I travel with my thoughts,
I travel with my pen;
To write about children, women and men;

I travel with my voice,
I travel with my hope,
That something new, would spring into my horoscope,
Whether in Asia, America or Europe,
There'll always be something interesting to scope;

I travel to many different places,
Mix with many races,
Identify tribesmen by their faces,
And little girls by their laces,

I travel without money,
So, please listen to my testimony,
The good, the bad and even the ugly,
Every experience is worth life's journey,

For I'll always be marvelled,
When ever I travel.

Singing Tree

(words & music by owens - solberg)
Youre the one who beckoned the wind
And fanned the flame when our love began
So dont pretend you dont know me
Our names are carved on you, singing tree
Oh singing tree
Sing to me
Call your friend
The roving wind
Maybe he can find my love
And bring her back, singing tree
Your leaves have turned from green to blue
Sometimes I think you loved her too
But since she left and our love died
You stand petrified, singing tree
Oh sing to me
Singing tree
Call your friend
The roving wind
Maybe he can find my love
And bring her back, singing tree
Oh sing to me
Singing tree
Call your friend
The roving wind
Maybe he can find my love

For Someone Special

To be a ladies man is not in my background
And one with more appeal than me quite easily found
And though I've never sent you any flowers
If thought time could be measured I've thought of you for hours.

I love you for your bright and cheerful way
The way you smile and laugh and say good day
Your friends all say how wonderful you are
And to find your equal one might travel far.

And with those sentiments I must agree
For you have been such a dear friend to me
A role model on whom I can depend
And I hope you'll always be my trusted friend.

So many people speak so well of you
And to your many friends you've remained true
And to help others you've gone out of your way
It's no wonder people nice things of you say.

Of singing your praises I could never tire
And you'll always be the woman I admire
And I'll always love you for the way you are
And to find your equal one might travel far

A Song For You

(leon russell)
Ive been so many places
In my life and time
Ive sung a lot of songs
I made some bad rhymes
Ive acted out my life in stages
Ten thousand people watching
But were alone now
Im singing this song for you
I know your image of me
Is what I hope to be
I treated you unkindly
But darling cant you see?
Theres no-one more important to me
Oh, baby, cant you please see through me?
cause were alone now and
Im singing this song for you
You taught me precious secrets
Of the truth withholding nothing
You came out in front
I was hiding
Oh, but now Im so much better
If the words dont come together
Just listen to the melody
cause my love in there hiding
Ooh, ooh
Oh, I love you in a place
Where theres no space or time
Love you for my life
You are a friend of mine
And when my life is over
Remember when we were together
We were alone and
I was singing this song for you
We were alone
I was singing this song for you, oh
Singing
I was singing, singing, singing, singing, singing this song for you
Oh, yes
Singing this song for you

Mean Attitude

Mean Attitude

Early morning, birds were singing;
Got out with my luggage bag swinging
Marched towards my village bus stand
To have a travel of short distance.

Standing among the bus stop crowd;
I watched over their attitude.
Without stopping busses passed,
And the hope of travel ceased.

A voice came from the multitude;
The drivers against whom it grumbled,
For steering buses straight ahead,
As their patience disappeared.

Living in a Democratic Land,
With his Right of Speech at hand,
Against the busman he scolded;
To my wonder many men followed.

As the people long for sun
When there is a constant rain,
Every soul there prayed to God;
Then stopped a bus with thin load.

The congregation rushed forward
To travel on the bus onward.
Some were seated, some stood to smile;
I too entered to travel the mile.

Peaceful travel for a while,
The journey was not broken still;
Happy chats and standing sleeps,
Till it braked for some more men to creep.

A voice came from the standing crowd,
The driver against whom it grumbled;
For stopping bus to have more load.
To my wonder many followed.

My thought ran to analyse,
The one who longs for Paradise;
But blaming others for everything
While he can’t do anything.

Ignorant of the troubles of his neighbour
That the urgency of his labour
Made him grumble on his wait,
When the buses ran through straight.

He uttered as a ‘holy man’,
When the bus braked for other men.
Forgetting his wait so long
Hated them to come along.

One who forgets the past so easily
In his life he acts so crazily.
Even when his hair turns to gray
Many a time he falls a prey.

Then one who is not satisfied
Can never be ratified
As one among the human
Ah! His attitude is so mean.

Let There Be Peace

Everlasting Father, we come to You in our need.
Create in us awareness of the massive forces
That threaten our world today.
Grant us a sense of urgency to activate
The forces of love, of justice, of kindness,
Of peace, of togetherness.
Where there is armed conflict, let humanity
Stretch hands across oceans and create
Dialogue for peace with security.

Where there are divisions, let unity prevail.
Place hope where there is despair.
Formulate a plan that the strong may
Design programs to help the least amongst them.
Where there is poverty, let there be room
For dignity to come forth and mitigate despair.

May good practise of people of the world
Look to You for guidance and protection.
Teach us Your spirit, for it is only in
Your love that the world may gain peace.
Let cowards tremble at Your call.
Your will must be done, so let it be!

Blue

Every day it seems my smile's a little harder
And every day, i seem to laugh a little less
Living this way, it seems my sky's a little darker
You went away and left me lonely in success
(can't you see i'm falling apart) (repeat)
Can't you see what's happenin' to me
Take this hand and show my fingers where my heart is
Understand, you may just save me from despair
Watch this man, you'll see he can't stop what he has started
Take this hand, you'll see right now there's no-one there
(can't you see i'm falling apart)
You laugh at me as i fall
(can't you see i'm falling apart)
Just tell me, tell me, give me one good reason
Armed with love, i could save my heart
But on my own i just can't make it
I'm too weak to fight, so take it
Armed with love, i could save my heart
But instead i watch you die
Armed with love, i could save my heart
But on my own i just can't make it
I'm too weak to fight, so take it
Armed with love, i could save my heart
Tell me why an i so blue.

America the USA

The greatest of them all
One that will never fail
Try to give it your best
It will always be above the rest

When you go across the lands
You know you are in good hands
As you travel along the way
Everyone wants to say hello

Every mile you travel will be great
The scenery will be amazing
All the different birds will be singing
What a joy it is to be on your way

Every day has different weather
You will enjoy the great change
Everyone will agree with you today
Even if you have a long delay

For love of you my lute was strung

FOR love of you my lute was strung,
When singing days were fair and young,
When life and hope and song were new,
And all were sweet for love of you.
For love of you from June to June
My heart beat to a triumph tune,
And music rose by sea and land,
In answer to a victor's hand.
For love of you from sun to sun,
I strove to sing when songs were done,
And on each failing string my tears
Burnt silence, through the empty years.
But broken now 'neath evening skies,
My lute for ever tuneless lies,
And I but mourn the songs I knew,
Which were so sweet for love of you.

176.The Gift Of Miracles

For the life so static
Hope is the wing
Perching in the soul

Learning from yesterday
Living for today
Hope is for tomorrow

Hope is the dream
Of the soul while awake
Dancing without music

Hope is a pillar
That holds up the world
Waiting for lifting people so high

Hope begins in the dark
Steering for the dawn
Driving mission success

Flight not from pleasure to pleasure
But from hope to hope
As nothing is left to gape

Humanity being ocean
A few drops dirty
Doesn’t turn it filthy

More pleasant to travel
Than the road built in despair
Though destination is same
