Marigolds
With a fork drive Nature out,
She will ever yet return;
Hedge the flowerbed all about,
Pull or stab or cut or burn,
She will ever yet return.
Look: the constant marigold
Springs again from hidden roots.
Baffled gardener, you behold
New beginnings and new shoots
Spring again from hidden roots.
Pull or stab or cut or burn,
They will ever yet return.
Gardener, cursing at the weed,
Ere you curse it further, say:
Who but you planted the seed
In my fertile heart, one day?
Ere you curse me further, say!
New beginnings and new shoots
Spring again from hidden roots.
Pull or stab or cut or burn,
Love must ever yet return.

Return!
RETURN, return! all night my lamp is burning,
All night, like it, my wide eyes watch and burn;
Like it, I fade and pale, when day returning
Bears witness that the absent can return,
Return, return.
Like it, I lessen with a lengthening sadness,
Like it, I burn to waste and waste to burn,
Like it, I spend the golden oil of gladness
To feed the sorrowy signal for return,
Return, return.
Like it, like it, whene'er the east wind sings,
I bend and shake; like it, I quake and yearn,
When Hope's late butterflies, with whispering wings,
Fly in out of the dark, to fall and burn--
Burn in the watchfire of return,
Return, return.
Like it, the very flame whereby I pine
Consumes me to its nature. While I mourn
My soul becomes a better soul than mine,
And from its brightening beacon I discern
My starry love go forth from me, and shine
Across the seas a path for thy return,
Return, return.
Return, return! all night I see it burn,
All night it prays like me, and lifts a twin
Of palmed praying hands that meet and yearn--
Yearn to the impleaded skies for thy return.
Day, like a golden fetter, locks them in,
And wans the light that withers, tho' it burn
As warmly still for thy return;
Still thro' the splendid load uplifts the thin
Pale, paler, palest patience that can learn
Naught but that votive sign for thy return--
That single suppliant sign for thy return,
Return, return.
Return, return! lest haply, love, or e'er
Thou touch the lamp the light have ceased to burn,
And thou, who thro' the window didst discern
The wonted flame, shalt reach the topmost stair
To find no wide eyes watching there,
No wither'd welcome waiting thy return!
A passing ghost, a smoke-wreath in the air,
The flameless ashes, and the soulless urn,
Warm with the famish'd fire that lived to burn--
Burn out its lingering life for thy return,
Its last of lingering life for thy return,
Its last of lingering life to light thy late return,
Return, return.

Pull Up The Roots
Hello again
Yes indeed my friend
I can tell
Goin get together again
I could be right
I could b ewrong
I feel nice when I sing this song
And I dont mind
Whatever happens is fine
Baby likes to keep on playing . . .
What do I know, what do I know?
Wilder than the place we live in . . .
Ill take you there, Ill take you there
I dont mind some slight disorder . . .
Pull up the roots pull up the roots
And I know evry living creature . .
Pull up the roots, pull up the roots
And I know you
I understand what you do
Yes, indeed
I put the hat on my head
Come outa your mess
Bring yourself in
I feel nice when I start to sing
And I can see
Evryone else is like me
Towns that dissapeared completely . . .
Pull up the roost, pull up the roots
Miles and miles of endless highway . . .
Pull up the roost, pull up the roots
Colored lights and shiney curtains . . .
Ill take you there, Ill take you there
Evrything has been forgiven . . .
Pull up the roost, pull up the roots
Well I have a good time . . . when I go out of my mind
And its a wonderful place . . . and I cant wait to be there
And I hear beautiful sounds . . . coming outa the ground
Gonna take us a while . . . but well go hundreds of times
Baby likes to keep on playing . . .
What dyou know? what dyou I know?
Wilder than the place we live in . . .
Ill take you there, Ill take you there
And I dont mind some slight disorder . . .
Pull up the roots pull up the roots
And no more time for talkin it over . . .
Pull up the roots, pull up the roots
Well I have a good time . . . when I go out of my mind
And its a wonderful place . . . and I cant wait to be there
And I hear beautiful sounds . . . coming outa the ground
Someone musta been high . . . but I guess its alright

I Shall Return
I shall return again; I shall return
To laugh and love and watch with wonder-eyes
At golden noon the forest fires burn,
Wafting their blue-black smoke to sapphire skies.
I shall return to loiter by the streams
That bathe the brown blades of the bending grasses,
And realize once more my thousand dreams
Of waters rushing down the mountain passes.
I shall return to hear the fiddle and fife
Of village dances, dear delicious tunes
That stir the hidden depths of native life,
Stray melodies of dim remembered runes.
I shall return, I shall return again,
To ease my mind of long, long years of pain.

The return of the native,
Fully teethed I left you.
Toothless I return to you.
Where from I had come,
There to I want to return
In between, I never came back
Nor did I give you any thought.
Which bird thinks of the nest
When he flies in gay?
In twilight, cows return to shed.
As night falls, I return to you.
In your cradle, I was born,
Only where my roots are known.
On return, I shall dropp to you
What I had earned elsewhere
So that, of me, you are aware
And I can pass away with after care.

Burn, Georgia, Burn
Words and music by tim lewis and roger murrah
Atlanta was on fire and so was she the night he left her.
Left her there to bear her pain alone, hoping soon to return.
Burn, georgia, burn.
The roaring of th guns filled the emptiness inside her where once she felt
The pounding of her heart.
When he held her in his arms, tenderness they learned.
Burn, georgia, burn.
He was the body, she was the soul of a love affair the couldnt control.
While the world was falling down around them, they were not concerned.
Burn, georgia, burn.
Winter brought the snow and a rider down from franklin with news of how the
War had taken toll and he would not return.
Burn, georgia, burn.
He was the body, she was the soul of a love affair they couldnt control.
While her world crumbled all around her, she was not concerned.
Burn, georgia, burn.
While strolling through her mind she stumbled on an old, familiar feeling of
How he touched her many years ago and how he made her yearn.
Burn, georgia, burn.

Dead Dream Of Hers
Inside of her a dead seeds held
Inside of her a dream was bloomed
Without a dropp of rain without the sun of growth, she stood and broke her every root, as it ripped away my heart was torn as the rain started to fall it burn my soul.
I hold the rain inside
Pull out the face that brings the best
Her anger, her torn heart does not hide from those whom love. Her roots stay hidden in side of her, Hoping that someday they might just grow.

Mother is the root
.
Mother is the root.
Children are the shoots.
Roots take care of the shoots.
Shoots have no care for roots.
They have other things to care.
Roots don’t bother. Can mother?

Burn That Bridge
Burn that bridge
By: jimmy buffett, michael utley, will jennings
1984
Im not sayin Im scareda you
But your kinda love is somethin new
When I hold you were swayin in the wind
Of all the bridges Ive ever crossed
High and lonesome and wild and lost
I feel this time Ill take it to the end
We dont care what the people may say
If theres a price its the price well pay
Chorus:
And well burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to
Burn it down
Burn it down
We both done our share of runnin around
So we know enough to know the kind of love weve found
Its the real thing and weve got to see it through
Im a singer and a sailor on a midnight sea
(oh captain come and take me on your fantasy)
If were crazy that aint nothin new
cause we dont care what the people may say
If theres a price its the price well pay
Chorus:
And well burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to
Burn it down
Burn it down
Who knows how it started
Who knows it end
The point of no return is waiting
Just around the bend
Chorus:
And well burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to
Burn it down
Burn it down
Chorus:
Yes well burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to it
Burn that bridge when we come to
Burn it down
Burn it down
Burn it down
Burn it down
Burn it down
Burn it down
Burn it down

Hidden Roots
In Memory Of My Late Brother
William Verdun Harris
1941 - 2003
Today my mind seemed everywhere,
but on the job, I was doing.
It started in my childhood
and moved into my teenage years
and finally into my adulthood.
Along the way examining the roots
I had laid down all those years ago.
Unfortunately, they were not firm roots
and I drifted from here to there,
my heart never settling in any place I wanted as a home.
Within me, there was a struggle
and I knew not why, then it surfaced
in between the pages of a letter that came from far away.
It told me something
that at first I could not believe,
of how part of my past had been closeted from me.
I knew then where my roots lay
in a land far across the sea.
I travelled to meet my past,
but sadly, before I could cement those hidden roots
they were gone and part of me was taken away.
Now I often wonder what might happen years before
if I had known about those hidden roots.
How different would my life have been?
There is no way of telling
as I learned to late about those roots
and time has now run out.

Spring
Frost-locked all the winter,
Seeds, and roots, and stones of fruits,
What shall make their sap ascend
That they may put forth shoots?
Tips of tender green,
Leaf, or blade, or sheath;
Telling of the hidden life
That breaks forth underneath,
Life nursed in its grave by Death.
Blows the thaw-wind pleasantly,
Drips the soaking rain,
By fits looks down the waking sun:
Young grass springs on the plain;
Young leaves clothe early hedgerow trees;
Seeds, and roots, and stones of fruits,
Swollen with sap put forth their shoots;
Curled-headed ferns sprout in the lane;
Birds sing and pair again.
There is no time like Spring,
When life's alive in everything,
Before new nestlings sing,
Before cleft swallows speed their journey back
Along the trackless track -
God guides their wing,
He spreads their table that they nothing lack, -
Before the daisy grows a common flower
Before the sun has power
To scorch the world up in his noontide hour.
There is no time like Spring,
Like Spring that passes by;
There is no life like Spring-life born to die, -
Piercing the sod,
Clothing the uncouth clod,
Hatched in the nest,
Fledged on the windy bough,
Strong on the wing:
There is no time like Spring that passes by,
Now newly born, and now
Hastening to die.

Hero's Return
In a time of fear and confusion,
silence charging the air
The sunlight is gone, darkness lives on
in the heart of the dragons lair
Lost in a world of illusions
No trace of the missing ore
Stealing our souls, were out of control,
knocking at deaths door
All our beliefs fading into ashes
Heed the words that we pray
For a Heros Return our hearts still yearn
Rise and conquer, let the infidels burn
Now we charge, the battle is raging,
blood runs everywhere
Our anger is fierce, avenging the years
No time for a final prayer
Behold, the might of the hammer,
elliptical bolts of fire
Theres nowhere to run, nowhere to hide
Youre down to the wire
Somewhere out there lies a new tomorrow
for me and those who believe
For a Heros Return our hearts still yearn
Rise and conquer, let the infidels burn
For a Heros Return our hearts still yearn
Rise and conquer, let the infidels burn
Oooh
Now, Ive returned from a place far beyond
My mission I set, let it be done
We still belive in a brighter future
The dreams are ours to fulfil
For a Heros Return.

The Last Time
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
Like medicine forced down my throat.
You tell me everything that is wrong with me.
Yet you want my understanding,
You want my pity.
Here let me spit in your direction on my way out the door.
For the last time...
For the last time...
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
You want everything from me.
And give nothing in return.
Like a gentleman I turn away.
I can't hit a woman no matter the reason why.
For the last time...
For the last time...
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
Don't worry you'll be just fine.
Living with a porcupine.
A constant pain upon the skin.
pick pick pick.
jab jab jab
stab stab stab...
A numbness in my heart and mind.
For the last time...
For the last time...
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
Like medicine forced down my throat.
You tell me everything that is wrong with me.
Yet you want my understanding,
You want my pity.

For the last time...
For the last time...
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
You want everything from me.
And give nothing in return.
Like a gentleman I turn away.
I can't hit a woman no matter the reason why.
I don't need to cheat never did.
A jealous ungrateful stitch.
Excuse me but stop making these claims.
A plea to stay with me.
I'm sorry but this time it is too late.
Not like so many time before.
It's not my fault I wasn't even keeping score.
For the last time...
For the last time...
I'm gone I'm so gone.
I can't stand this.
Like medicine forced down my throat.
You tell me everything that is wrong with me.
Yet you want my understanding,
You want my pity.

You want everything from me.

For the last time...
This is the very last time

Spring Sunshine
After all the chills and winter blues,
The staying warm and staying in,
Meetings indoors for outside is cold,
Then comes the spring sunshine,
The sun breaks in like a door open wide,
With the burst of sunlight,
That lasting and warm,
Bringing smiles back on peoples faces,
While in the chilling season it brings,
Us all to hibernate and stay in,
Not getting out much as weather is cold,
Until the spring sunshine brings us back outdoors,
It is the time for new growth,
It is the time for new beginnings,
It is the time for buds to bloom,
It is the time for nature to sound its sounds of nature again,
For all the while when we shelter from the chills,
Winter is chilling,
And springs getting ready,
For all the new beginnings,
Brought forth from the old,
Of last seasons blossoms,
Spring will bring new growth from its roots,
And bloom again with spring sunshine rays,
Spring will start again,
And a new year to begin it with,
That starts with first,
The spring sunshine,
Of first days of spring,
That brings the smile back,
To all our faces,
With warm sun rays,
Of spring sunshine.

Better Than The Knife
A woman can cut you up better than a butcher can skin and bone a turkey.
A woman can burn holes in you better than either one of us can iron a shirt.
A woman will first tell you everything, even though you weren't expecting
Then she'll expect all that back and more in return.
And if she doesn't get it
She'll put a knife through you.
Some use a sharpened, shining blade
Others barb their words with
Just the same.
A woman can melt through your heart like acid through wood and grass
A woman can rip the damn heart out through your ass
A woman is more insidious than you realise
A woman is a curse and a blessing twice disguised.
And if you don't expose the hidden truths of your soul
You'd better believe you'll suffer more letting them fly
Out in to the darkness, into the bartenders ear
Wherever they land.

Gone
Save me
From this seasons dead air
Take me
Blind naked scared
Want you to burn me, burn me baby
Cover your eyes with my ashes
Cmon why dont you pray for me
Sit back and watch my divine spark flash
Chorus:
Gone
Good riddance Im gone
Gone in a wasted way
Wasted my way Im gone
Push and pull on me baby
With your fingernails full of fur
I want you to stab me
Do it, do it, cause you know it dont hurt
Chorus
Jinx me, jinx me baby
Beautiful like a fool
Cmon and remove me
Dilated and burned

Sorrow Seeks...
Sorrow Seeks...
Sorrow seeks...
Like the roots of weeds
And as the roots grow deeper
the weight descends
Like gnarled hands grasping at your throat
Choking out the beauty within
A dandelion with a face that glows of golden sun
But within the soil it's roots grow so deep
With one pluck you think it is gone for good
Only to return stronger than before
Sorrow seeks...
Like the roots of weeds

Lets Burn Down The Cornfield
Lets burn down the cornfield
Lets burn down the cornfield
And we can listen to it burn
You hide behind the oak tree
You hide behind the oak tree
Stay out of danger till I return
Oh, its so good
On a cold night
To have a fire
Burnin warm and bright
You hide behind the oak tree
You hide behind the oak tree
Stay out of danger till I return
Lets burn down the cornfield
Lets burn down the cornfield
And Ill make love to you while its burning

The Seed
In the spring
when the air has warmed.
I
planted a seed
a tiny seed.
I
along with my faith
to Mother Earth entrusted it.
I
hoped she would
nourish and coax the blossom
hidden within that seed so small.
To
spring forth in the summertime
with
its beauty its fragrance.
That all may behold and enjoy.
Until
autumn time
when back it returns
to a seed to sleep
to wait.
To be reborn.
