Robert Frost

Mowing

There was never a sound beside the wood but one,
And that was my long scythe whispering to the ground.
What was it it whispered? I knew not well myself;
Perhaps it was something about the heat of the sun,
Something, perhaps, about the lack of sound--
And that was why it whispered and did not speak.
It was no dream of the gift of idle hours,
Or easy gold at the hand of fay or elf:
Anything more than the truth would have seemed too weak
To the earnest love that laid the swale in rows,
Not without feeble-pointed spikes of flowers
(Pale orchises), and scared a bright green snake.
The fact is the sweetest dream that labour knows.
My long scythe whispered and left the hay to make.

Lighthouse

The lighthouse lost its light on her a long time ago
She got so used to it, this long and winding road
I'll never ever let you go, oh
I can't believe she whispered to me
I don't wanna breathe
Oh no
This ship of fools sails west by night-time and by day
Circumnavigates her globe like a bullet gone astray
Come on home baby, where it's safe
I can't believe she whispered to me
I don't wanna breathe
I don't wanna breathe
Even if you drink from the chalice of cheap escape and fade away
I'll never ever let you go
I can't believe she whispered to me
I don't wanna breathe
I don't wanna breathe
She whispered to me
Now I can't believe she whispered to me
Oh lord, lord, lord

Speak the truth and you'll be heard.

She told me she cared,
I knew she lied,
She told them she cared,
They knew she lied,
She said she wanted me to be the best,
I knew she lied,
She said to them she wanted me to be the best,
They knew she lied,
She whispered she loved me,
I knew she lied,
She whispered to them she loved me,
They knew she lied,

She pretended everything when I was there,
She pretended to love me,
She pretended to care,
She said she wanted me to be happy,

We all knew the truth was not what she speak,
We all knew the truth was just about to leak,
We all knew the truth would come out,
We all knew the truth, with no doubt,

She was just like the people surrounding,
Pretending, acting, lying,
So the truth is what I spoke when I spoke to her,
I told her the truth is true, the truth is fair,
I told her...

If it's a lie, don't say another word,
However, speak the truth, and you'll be heard,

To lie to someone who truly loves you for you,
Is one of the most cruel things you can ever do,

To let them believe what you say to them is true,
When really all your thinking about is you, you and you.

I shall make some slips no doubt, and shall perhaps talk in second-hand language, but not for long: the living image of what I saw will always be with me and will always correct and guide me. Oh, I am full of courage and freshness, and I will go on and on if it were for a thousand years! Do you know, at first I meant to conceal the fact that I corrupted them, but that was a mistake — that was my first mistake! But truth whispered to me that I was lying, and preserved me and corrected me. But how stablish paradise — I don't know, because I do not know how to put it into words. After my dream I lost command of words. All the chief words, anyway, the most necessary ones. But never mind, I shall go and I shall keep talking, I won't leave off, for anyway I have seen it with my own eyes, though I cannot describe what I saw. But the scoffers do not understand that. It was a dream, they say, delirium, hallucination. Oh! As though that meant so much! And they are so proud! A dream! What is a dream? And is not our life a dream? I will say more. Suppose that this paradise will never come to pass (that I understand), yet I shall go on preaching it. And yet how simple it is: in one day, in one hour everything could be arranged at once!

Her Image

He stared at her picture everyday.
It was something he would always do.
It helped him to remember her lovely face
and helped him make it through
lonely nights without her
and hours that kept him blue.

He saw her image and he remembered
when the picture was taken.
They were so in love. Then she fell ill
and now his heart was achin'.
He kissed her image
and whispered goodnight.
He'd been forsaken.

Her picture was now his prize posession
for it's all he had of her.
Gone was her touch. Gone was her hair,
the strands of it still in his sight.
Gone was the sound of her voice
that always whispered in the night
'I love you.'

Dream A While With Me

I dream of rainbows, Bright in the sky,
I dream of lightning, together we cry,

I dream of flowers, I feel such delight,
I dream of spiders, and I scream with fright,

I dream of fish, swimming in the sea,
I dream of sharks, coming after me,

I dream of lambs, frolicking around,
I dream of wolves, Hunting, no sound,

I dream of children, several of them ours,
I dream of them waking, Being up for hours,

Stay with me forever and together we’ll cope,
Because when I dream of you, I dream of hope,

Dream awhile with me and together we’ll see,
Not all dreams are bad, so dream along with me.

Blind!

A red-roofed house is shining to the skies;
A house red-roofed and brilliant in the wind:
A house of colour filled with wandering eyes;
And all the eyes are blind.

A gentle sound of moving fills each room:
A sound of hands, - dumb hands that touch and pry:
A sound of fingers feeling in a tomb
Before they close and die.

A hundred windows face long rows of flowers-
Long rows of flowers, and flowers that sway and dance
Where lidded eyes can gaze for hours and hours;
Blue eyes that shut in France.

To C

To Callista:

Your memory is with me
though you lay there smiling in dream.

I smell of the meal you cooked.
It is here, in the air, though it is long gone.
The sound of the music is in the walls;
Though it is silent but for your whispered breath.
Your sensitive eyes that, last night, looked on
With an invisible humor, are tight and smiling;

I remember those eyes and want them open now
Because they remind me of a home that I never knew.
There is a lovely pleasure in you,
That I do not even recognize;
It is all I can do to not hold you right now.

Though that is not enough.
And I can’t go back;
I don’t know what to do anymore.
Because you are sleeping and when you awake,
I lose my mind.

Even now, as you lay making a perfume of my life,
I see you walking, changed, with lavender flowers in your hand.
All joy and humor replaced by a reckless drive.

I miss you already,
Even as I watch you sleep and smile.

Forgiven

I dreamed so dear a dream of you last night!
I thought you came. I was so glad, so gay,
I whispered, 'Those were foolish words to say;
I meant them not. I cannot bear the sight
Of our dear face. I cannot meet the light
Of your dear eyes upon me. Sit, I pray-
Sit here beside me; turn your look away,
And lay your cheek on mine,' Till morning bright
We sat so, and we did not speak. I knew
All was forgiven, so nestled there
With your arms round. Swift the sweet hours flew.
At last I waked, and sought you everywhere.
How long, dear, think you, that my glad cheek will
Burn-as it burns with our cheek's pressure still?

Whispering Promises

whispering promises is easy to
do
many times they never come true

the one whispering promises
is not sincere

playing make-believe with your
ear

lots of voices hum a tune
whispering promises forgotten
soon

truth is absent from the start
a game of words played with a
heart

lying tongues have a cruel bite
whispered promises in the night.

from Me You Will Get Love

I want you to believe,
From me you will get love.
I will even repeat it,
If needed to hear.
Whispered close.
Or Loud and clear.

'From me you will get love.
From me you will get love.'

For so long I have wished,
For the right one to give it.
For so long in the giving...
The wrong ones misunderstood.
And me and my love,
Was shoved away and dismissed.

From me I give this.
Since you have been my gift.
And I recognize it to behold.
To cherish what I have been blessed with...
To receive in the sharing.
And in the sharing of what love is!

I want you to believe,
From me you will get love.
I will even repeat it,
If needed to hear.
Whispered close.
Or loud enough to know it is clear.

'FROM ME YOU WILL GET LOVE.
FROM ME YOU WILL GET LOVE.
FROM ME YOU WILL GET LOVE.'

Every second.
Every hour.
Everyday throughout the year.

'From me you will get love.
From me you will get love.
From me you will get love.
From me you will get...
LOVE! '

Belong

Her world collapsed early sunday morning
She got up from the kitchen table
Folded the newspaper and silenced the radio
Those creatures jumped the barricades
And have headed for the sea, sea
Those creatures jumped the barricades
And have headed for the sea
She began to breathe
To breathe at the thought of such freedom
Stood and whispered to her child, belong
She held the child and whispered
With calm, calm; belong
Stood and whispered to her child, belong
She held the child and whispered
With calm, calm; belong
These barricades can only hold for so long
Her world collapsed early sunday morning
She took the child held tight
Opened the window
A breath, this song, how long
And knew, knew; belong

Was it a dream or a vision

In my lonely thoughts i saw,
A woman of purity and tenderness,
Walking towards me with precision,
Holding my right hand with descretion,
Was it a dream or a vision?

My heart skipped a beat,
My eye skipped a blink,
I lost my concentration,
Her beauty none can describe,
Her modesty i honoured,
Her skin so soft and tender,
Was it you or another,
A dream or vision?

Her lips i reached,
The vanillia of my saliva,
The smell of love was in the air,
The distance knew us not,
Was it you my love,
Was it a dream or a vision

She took me by the hand,
Whispered she loved me,
My ears could not contain,
I shivered with amusement,
The sight of beauty beyond doubt,
Uncovering her destiny to me,
I think it was you my love,
But my thoughts never knew,
Was it a dream or a vision

A Flower In The Summer Sky

a pink flower
across the open sky
a beautiful sunrise
a night sky vanished
a beauty hazed by yellow rays
gone too soon
gone too soon..
the flower embrace
embraced me with warmth
it was there
though 'was faint
heard the wind
heard it said
'i did'
heard it said
'did you? '
i whispered
whispered softly
whispered to it
whispered..
'..with all my heart.'

inspired and for a flower in the clouds during a beautiful summer, when you had stolen my heart.

Sons Of The Silent Age

Sons of the silent age
Stand on platforms blank looks and note books
Sit in back rows of city limits
Lay in bed coming and going on easy terms
Sons of the silent age
Pace their rooms like a cells dimensions
Rise for a year or two then make war
Search through their one inch thoughts
Then decide it couldnt be done
Baby, Ill never let you go
All I see is all I know
Lets take another way down (sons of sound and sons of sound)
Baby, baby, Ill never let you down
I cant stand another sound
Lets find another way (sons of sound and sons of sound)
Sons of the silent age
Listen to tracks by sam therapy and king dice
Sons of the silent age
Pick up in bars and cry only once
Sons of the silent age
Make love only once but dream and dream
Dont walk, they just glide in and out of life
They never die, they just go to sleep one day
Baby, I wont ever let you go
All I see is all I know
Lets take another way down (sons of sound and sons of sound)
Oh baby, baby, baby, I wont ever let you down
I cant stand another sound
Lets take another way in (sons of sound and sons of sound)
(sons of sound and sons of sound)
Baby, baby, baby, fire away!

At Last

O the years I lost before I knew you,
Love!
O, the hills I climbed and came not to you,
Love!
Ah! who shall render unto us to make
Us glad
The things which for and of each other's sake
We might have had?

If you and I had sat and played together,
Love,
Two speechless babes in the summer weather,
Love,
By one sweet brook which, though it dried up long
Ago,
Still makes for me today a sweeter song
Than all I know-

If hand-in-hand through the mysterious gateway,
Love
Of womanhood, we had first looked and straightway,
Love,
Had whispered to each other softly, ere
It yet
Was dawn, what now in noonday heat and fear
We both forget-

If all of this had given its completeness,
Love,
To every hour, would it be added sweetness,
Love?
Or ill
With thee? One wish could I more sweetly tell,
More swift fulfill?

Ah, vainly thus I sit and dream and ponder,
Love,
Losing the precious present while I wonder,
Love,
About the days in which you grew and came
To be
So beautiful, and did not know the name
Or sight of me.

But all lost things are in the angel's keeping,
Love;
No past is dead for us, but only sleeping,
Love;
The years of heaven will all earth's little pain
Make good,
Together there we can begin again,
In babyhood.

Beyond Belief

“You’ll never believe, what it is that I see”
Said the old man just before he died

He squeezed my hand tightly, as he whispered lightly
And he pulled me down to his side

“I wouldn’t have believed, ” he said with a sigh
As I put my ear close to his lips

His dim eyes brightened, as his hand slowly rose
he pointed into space with thin fingertips

“It’s not…not at all, what you’d think it to be, ”
He whispered, as his hand… slowly fell to the bed

“We were wrong, all of us wrong, It goes on you see! ”
Barely audible now, slowly lowered his head

I put my hand on his brow, my cheek against his… tenderly
I could sense the ebb of his final tide

“You’d never, …ever believe, what it is that I see, ”
His eyes closed…he smiled…then he died

The Wreath Of Forest Flowers

In a fair and sunny forest glade
O’erarched with chesnuts old,
Through which the radiant sunbeams made
A network of bright gold,
A girl smiled softly to herself,
And dreamed the hours away;
Lulled by the sound of the murmuring brook
With the summer winds at play.

Jewels gleamed not in the tresses fair
That fell in shining showers,
Naught decked that brow of beauty rare
But a wreath of forest flowers;
And the violet wore no deeper blue
Than her own soft downcast eye,
Whilst her bright cheek with the rose’s hue
In loveliness well might vie.

But she was too fair to bloom unknown
By forest or valley side,
And long ere two sunny years had flown,
The girl was a wealthy bride—
Removed to so high and proud a sphere
That she well at times might deem
The humble home of her childhood dear
A fleeting, changeful dream.

No more her foot sought the grassy glade
At the break of summer day;
No more neath the chesnut spreading shade
In reverie sweet she lay;
But in abodes of wealth and pride,
With serious, stately mien,
That envy’s rancorous tongue defied,
She now alone was seen.

But was she happier? Who might know?
Wealth, fortune, on her smiled;
Yet there were some who whispered low
That she, fates favored child,
Oft pressed her brow with a weary hand,
In gay and festive hours,
And fain would change her jewell’d band
For a wreath of forest flowers.

#9 Dream

So long ago
Was it in a dream, was it just a dream?
I know, yes I know
Seemed so very real, it seemed so real to me
Took a walk down the street
Thru the heat whispered trees
I thought I could hear (hear, hear, hear)
Somebody call out my name as it started to rain
Two spirits dancing so strange
Ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
Dream, dream away
Magic in the air, was magic in the air?
I believe, yes I believe
More I cannot say, what more can I say?
On a river of sound
Thru the mirror go round, round
I thought I could feel (feel, feel, feel)
Music touching my soul, something warm, sudden cold
The spirit dance was unfolding
Ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
Ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
ah! bwakawa pouss, pouss
