There's no earthly way of knowing

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction they are going!
There's no knowing where they're rowing,
Or which way they river's flowing!
Not a speck of light is showing,
So the danger must be growing,
For the rowers keep on rowing,
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing...

The Rowing Song

Round the world and home again
That's the sailor's way
Faster faster, faster faster

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a–blowing

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a–glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing.

Prelude

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're going
Or which way the wind is blowing
Is it raining? is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Oh, the fires of hell are glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing
Yes! the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!
Stop the boat!

and Lethewards have sunk

Plastic patterns swiftly flowing
gladly lend impressions glowing
sometimes faster, sometimes slowing,
constant keeping - not all knowing.
Thus mind radar to and froing -
whirlwind nature, blowing, blowing,
Cupid with his darts arrowing,
and acrostics all a-rowing, -
seeks to answer questions sowing
further questions Time a-mowing
soon forgets, leaves little showing.

It Aint No Big Thing

It ain't no big thing
A & n merrit/hall
You're losing interest in me, and it's showing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
The pain of heartbreak i've just starting knowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
Everyday the hurt grows bigger than before.
But i'll pretend that i don't notice,
If i can hold you one day more.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.

Grew To Believe

I did not awaken with dreams to write.
Or decide I was creative.
I awakened each day trying to fight it,
This appetite I had.
Especially when I thought that I had,
Something I should not want to have.

Few people I knew were encouraged to express,
An acceptance of their gifts.
I grew up in the projects.
And those who were 'different' were made to feel it.

Few people I knew were encouraged to express,
A happiness with talents they possessed.
With a gladness from others...
Who did not address an envy with a jealousness.

But a showing of a knowing that I knew,
Grew...
Inside of me.
Yes,
A showing of a knowing that I knew...
Grew!

A showing of a knowing that I knew,
Grew...
Inside of me.
Yes,
A showing of a knowing that I knew...
Grew,
To believe.

I did not awaken with dreams to write.
Or decide I was creative.
I awakened each day trying to fight it,
This appetite I had.
But...
A showing of a knowing that I knew,
Grew...
Inside of me.
Yes,
A showing of a knowing that I knew...
Grew,
To believe.

A showing of a knowing that I knew,
Grew...
Inside of me.

A showing of a knowing that I knew...
Grew,
To believe.

Mustve Had A Ball

(alan jackson)
Well I mustve had a ball last night
I cant recall what even started out fight
I mustve drank away my blues
cause I dont remember losing you
Well I mustve done the town up right
cause this morning my hats just a little too tight
There aint no way of knowing
But all the signs are showing
I mustve had a ball last night
Well I woke up this morning underneath my bed
And someones in the kitchen sink
With cowboy boots on and nothing else at all
Except my hat turned backway on her head
Well I mustve had a ball last night
I cant recall what even started out fight
I mustve drank away my blues
cause I dont remember losing you
Well I mustve done the town up right
cause this morning my hats just a little too tight
There aint no way of knowing
But all the signs are showing
I mustve had a ball last night
Well my pictures on the table, someone tore it right in two
Well whod do such a crazy thing
Someone took your suitcase and your little car
And I hate it cause the tires are new
Well I mustve had a ball last night
I cant recall what even started out fight
I mustve drank away my blues
cause I dont remember losing you
Well I mustve done the town up right
cause this morning my hats just a little too tight
There aint no way of knowing
But all the signs are showing
I mustve had a ball last night
Well I mustve done the town up right
cause this morning my hats just a little too tight
There aint no way of knowing

But all the signs are showing
I mustve had a ball last night

Time Is a Time Going

Time is a time going
On to the steps all around
From the departure flowing
And needs again to be found
Signs are the pathways tomorrow
Making the destinies road
Feelings of yesterday borrow
And taking of their many load
When time is a time going

Time is a time showing
That has been done before
Nothing to no one owning
Making its settle to score
Rise to times and their sign
Everything comes to unwind
When stumbling upon to align
Which has been before assigned?
When time is a time showing

Time is a time knowing
All that’s been done before?
Fast forward speed or slowing
With nothing to know anymore
The Situations matching all up
Finding a way to survive
Holding its own not at all to stop
That’s what makes it alive
When times are times knowing

Time is a time staying
With its perspective content
On to each stage playing
Onto their purpose and advent
Nothing to take for sure
For so much is far behind
When corners come to allure
To those illusions that are blind
When time is a time staying

Time is a time tomorrow
When much has turned around
And we of those steps borrow
When none's there to be found
Halfway and through the hide
Everything is crocked not straight
Compromised intention inside
To have it all again deactivate
For time is a time tomorrow

Knowing

There is a danger of knowing too much

knowing too much danger

Crossing a road without looking

Taking a risk with your cooking

A danger in knowing

There is a danger in knowing too much

Having digitalised lives

synched to computer

GOOGLED

There is a danger

Is there a danger in knowing?

Too much danger?

Too much knowing?

Too much?

we have/are becoming

More like a shopping mall

Packed full of brands

And gadgets

our apps additives

There is a danger of losing your child

In a shopping mall

Losing your self

In the underground

A danger in knowing

A danger in looking

The sign

The times

Are a changing

A danger of unseeing

Unliving

A danger of touching the edge of extinction

Without feeling

Bottled emotions

Formaladehyde Brains

Mask for a face

Stone for a heart

There is on a lighter note

A danger in eating my cooking

Knowing too much

Too soon

Too late

or a danger of knowing nothing

Simply eating what's arrived on your plate

Dont Stop

The clock is ticking, and Im here wishing
This new found love will find no end
Dont wanna feel, another feeling
Dont wanna know what time will send
I wanna stop, the earth from turning,
The rain from falling,
The wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), stop the hands of time
Hold back the time
And make forever, the same as the moment I felt your love
Youve touched my heart
Erase the pain, the memories, and mistakes I made
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop), my heart from beating
Keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Cant think about tomorrows fears, cause today is here to stay
Clear away all of yesterdays tears, theres nothing to block our way
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing, the sun from shining
Cant find the reason, another season
Could never match a love so pleasin
Dont let it go, no, no, no, no, no
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop)
My heart from beating, keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another day, to keep you mine
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another, to keep you mine

One Step Closer

I'm 'round the corner from anything that's real
I'm across the road from hope
I'm under a bridge in a rip tide
That's taken everything I call my own
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
I'm on an island at a busy intersection
I can't go forward, I can't turn back
Can't see the future
It's getting away from me
I just watch the tail lights glowing
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
Knowing, knowing
I'm hanging out to dry
With my old clothes
Finger still red with the prick of an old rose
Well the heart that hurts
Is a heart that beats
Can you hear the drummer slowing?
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
One step closer to knowing
To knowing, to knowing, to knowing

nothing but the self reflecting
energy eternal flowing
nothing knowing always growing

constant motion without

What waves in space cause worlds to
continuously condense and collide?

How to measure the ceaseless collimation

Row, Row, Row The Boat

Row, row, row the boat,
gently down the stream
of consciousness, and take close note
of things of which you dream
when working gallingly in galleys,
Ben Hur, condemned to row
until the spirit market rallies,
or falls like Jericho.

Slave, slave, slave, keep writing:
wait not for liberation,
and don’t feel crucified while fighting
lack of inspiration.
Be resurrected when unconscious,
keep jester juices flowing,
on auto-pilot, serving Pontius,
rowing, rowing, rowing.

David West, who is printing the galleys of my forthcoming book Legal Friction: Law, Narrative and Identity Politics in Biblical Israel, sent me an e-mail today which read:

And keep in mind Jack Hawkins’ famous advice to the galley slaves in Ben Hur: “You are all condemned men. We keep you alive to serve this ship. So row well, and live.”

Glass walls
Of the candy jar
Showing me the colors
Showing me the shapes
Just showing me...

Glass walls

Just showing me..

Glass walls
Of the computer screens
Showing me the colors
Showing me the smiles
Showing me the love
Even telling me... and nudging me...

It is only the glass... I can touch...!

Signs Of Life

Its been forty days since I heard from you this waiting game...
You put me through
I feel the silence... killing me... day to day
Losin hope, I lose myself, its got me thinkin theres someone else
We need to talk... you give me metaphors, by the way...
What are you tryin to say
Tryin to not think about you
Im not a dead man walkin without you
You know Ill be alright
Im showing signs of life
You left me barley breathin
Ive had time for the healing
Now Ive opened my eyes
Im showing signs of life
Lyin next to me... were you ever mine
Just wasted love and wasted time
Did you ever find what you were lookin for,
The nights you took me breath away
Ill miss your love... miss your touch, but this holdin on it hurts too much
Now its my time to walk away... Ill be okay
Tryin to not think about you
Im not a dead man walkin without you
You know Ill be alright
Im showing signs of life
You left me barley breathin
Ive had time for the healing
Now Ive opened my eyes
Im showing signs of life
Well, tell your friends that you stole my heart
But youll never got a piece of my soul
You took my love, tore my life apart
Theres more to me than youll ever know...
Tryin to not think about you
Im not a dead man walkin without you
You know Ill be alright
Im showing signs of life
Tryin to not think about you
Im not a dead man walkin without you
You know Ill be alright
Im showing signs of life
You left me barley breathin
Ive had time for the healing
Now Ive opened my eyes
Im showing signs of life
Seeing signs of life...

Headed In The Right Direction

Chorus
Headed in the right direction
I can see the light of day
Ive got love as my connection
Theres an angel showing me the way
Been reaching for love all my life
I couldnt find it always one step behind it
Now I know it was mine all the time finally I am
Chorus
Headed in the right direction
I can see the light of day
Ive got love as my protection
Theres no need for me to be afraid
I spend so much time with my head in the clouds
Now that Ive got my feet on the ground
I found that I am
Chorus
Headed in the right direction
I can see the light of day
Ive got faith and intuition telling me that I will be okay
Down the path that I walked there was eyes
Somebody told me that I look like Im glowing
They just dried all the tears from my eyes now I can see that
Chorus
Headed in the right direction
I can see the light of day
Now Ive found my pearl of wisdom
Theres no need for me to be afraid
Headed in the right direction
Theres an angel showing me the way
I have found my inspiration
Headed in the right direction

Wherefore and Whither - 0102 - For Annie Boudet

Now you'd know where fate's flowing if you abide with me,
and wonder where we're going, what could provide the key?

The future you'd be knowing, how will life fare for thee?
but all's in vain, this trowing, when we lack liberty.
Ringed golden debt is owing, yet you remain too free.

The fused frustrations growing attack you, fair chérie,
for Time's swift furrow's showing no longer twenty three.

Though sun each morrow's flowing, it sets too speedily.
There'll be no plights bestowing, lest spite spite enmity,
though sorrow may be sowing, we haste to heresy.

Away you should be stowing all memory of me.

Letting go of the bad and showing the world who i am

I am tired of feeling hurt
I am tired of feeling used
I am tired of feeling unworth
I am letting go of you
I am letting go of pain
I am letting go of shame
I am letting go of darkness
I am letting go of bitterness
I am letting go of all the bad and only waiting for the good
I am taking in the light and coming out from underneath my hood
I will show the world my eyes and my smile
I am showing the world My laughter and ability to be wild
I am showing the world its wrong and that I will go on
I am showing the world I am in control
I am showing the world all the things i'm letting go
I am showing the world my joy and my tears
I am showing the world my screams and my fears
I am showing the world who i am and where I've been
I am showing the world all that i can
I will show the world who i am inside and out
I will show the world i don't care if its me they talk about

Given the Oars to Row

Most who have been there will admit...
Fortunes aren't first recognized.
We are too busy looking for the gleam and glitter!
To impress before an acceptance is made.
These are confessions from those experienced.
Those who have paved,
Their own way.
And...
Have learned from many lessons.

Some await for titles to be sought.
To dropp jaws and bug eyes.
With a round of expressed applause.
Expected.

And those unafraid to claw themselves through tunnels,
Usually find daylight quicker...
Than someone seeking to protect manicured nails.
Or spend time shopping,
For the right survival outfit.

And the ones who sit wishing,
For their ship to sail in.
May lose their opportunity altogether.
Since they mistake someone rowing a boat,
As insignificant.

And the rower of the boat,
Rows away.
Knowing who has the authority,
To evict everyone from their lofty dreams!

Having been given the oars to row...
In any direction desired.
And...
A choice to be selective.

Those decisions to make,
Escapes away,
Eventually...
From the vision of most folks!

'Henry?
Is there any caviar left?
The order I placed for ham sandwiches,
Seems to be a bit late! '

~We are out of all supplies.
The owner of this island should be arriving soon.
He's rowing a boat.
He also comes to invite us to aboard his yacht,
For cocktails later.
He should be arriving soon.
With the provisions.
If you see him,
Overlook his appearance.
They can be quite deceiving,
You know? ~

Rowing

A story, a story!
(Let it go. Let it come.)
I was stamped out like a Plymouth fender
into this world.
First came the crib
with its glacial bars.
Then dolls
and the devotion to their plactic mouths.
Then there was school,
the little straight rows of chairs,
blotting my name over and over,
but undersea all the time,
a stranger whose elbows wouldn't work.
Then there was life
with its cruel houses
and people who seldom touched-
though touch is all-
but I grew,
like a pig in a trenchcoat I grew,
and then there were many strange apparitions,
the nagging rain, the sun turning into poison
and all of that, saws working through my heart,
but I grew, I grew,
and God was there like an island I had not rowed to,
still ignorant of Him, my arms, and my legs worked,
and I grew, I grew,
I wore rubies and bought tomatoes
and now, in my middle age,
about nineteen in the head I'd say,
I am rowing, I am rowing
though the oarlocks stick and are rusty
and the sea blinks and rolls
like a worried eyebal,
but I am rowing, I am rowing,
though the wind pushes me back
and I know that that island will not be perfect,
it will have the flaws of life,
the absurdities of the dinner table,
but there will be a door
and I will open it
and I will get rid of the rat insdie me,
the gnawing pestilential rat.
God will take it with his two hands
and embrace it.

As the African says:
This is my tale which I have told,
if it be sweet, if it be not sweet,
take somewhere else and let some return to me.
This story ends with me still rowing.

I Can't Get Nowhere With You

I can't get nowhere with
I can't get nowhere with
Talk to me
Say things to me
Make me understand you love me
I can't get nowhere with you
I'm saying
You're playing
With my feelings
I'm just praying
I can't get nowhere with you
I put my trust in you
But how you let me down
I tried to treat you right
But you made me look like a clown
I'm showing
That you're going
Tears me up
My tears are flowing
I can't get nowhere with you
