To fail at the great is greater
I had made several leaps and
The fruit stayed too high to reach.
Had I aimed at those with in my reach
I would have got as many as my leaps.
Losing the formidable is worth many leaps.

my love
as you breathe
in my dream
the sea sings, sighs
plays the strings
of my heart
only you can reach
those heart wrenching
low bass tones
a man's lost voice
from despair
the waves lift, twirl,
surge in all directions
oh, my longing to meet you
since you were gone
a craving for you
reprised so touchingly
by the sea
the volume of my tears
for annabel lee
the wind sweeps
over and over
a friend
the sea leaps, leaps
towards sky
how i desire you this moment
and it rains
your tears
the waves roar, roll,
my longing for you

Love does not see the end
Not bad is the mango from the lower branch
A few jumps and a stick might do.
But all the leaps I did for a high, shy fruit
That slipped off my grips.
Hard to earn is sweet to get.

That's The Way
Just a little every day-
That's the way!
Seeds in darkness swell and grow,
Tiny blades push through the snow;
Never any flower of May
Leaps to blossom in a burst,
Slowly, slowly, as the first,
That's the way.
Just a little every day.
Just a little every day-
That's the way,
Children learn to read and write
Bit by bit and mite by mite,
Never any one I say
Leaps to knowledge and its power;
Slowly, slowly, hour by hour,
That's the way!
Just a little every day.

My Spirit Guide (#1)
In the silence of the
night,
I reach for you.
Like an angel from
heaven,
Shining in all your
glory,
You encourage my
spirit.
I know once again, you
are worthy of all my
devotion, and attention.
My heart leaps toward
you,
Flying on the wings of a
dove.
Without you, I would be
void.

She Leaps
She leaps into the alien heart
of the passerby, the drunk,
the girl who spouts Freudian talk
over Szechuan food.
She is part herself,
part everyone.
'Thank you for writing the story of my life,'
her mash notes read.
& 'Can you tell me how to leave my husband?'
& 'Can you tell me how to find a husband?'
& 'Can you tell me how to write,
or how to feel,
or how to save my life?'
She knows nothing
but how to leap.
She has no answers for herself
or anyone.
One foot after another,
she flies through the air. . . .
She leaps over cracks
& breaks
her father's back.

He that climbs the tall tree has won right to the fruit, He that leaps the wide gulf should prevail in his suit.

What is a general without his troops?
What is a general without his troops?
Whom he knows, down to the last injury
From the naive to the brave
Digging trenches deep within.
Witness to the great reach of humanity
More so than bravery.
On the battlefield.
When one soldier leaps to rescue another
The heart warms, a greater tribute than any medal of valour.
For in the end, what is a man, without a friend?

Earth Hour
by leaps and bounds
the world has progressed
since the industrial revolution
men's life expectancy
has increased so many years
by leaps and bounds too
we seem to be heading
towards a crash between
our own survival and
that of mother earth
earth hour - giving ourselves
and earth - a break
even in this darkness,
earth cools down to lift us
up in a warm efferverscent cheer
we cant help but shed tears
for what we had done to mother earth
and vow to light the coming years
in the darkness of our rooms

I
Like a gondola of green scented fruits
Drifting along the dark canals of Venice,
You, O exquisite one,
Have entered into my desolate city.
II
The blue smoke leaps
Like swirling clouds of birds vanishing.
So my love leaps forth toward you,
Vanishes and is renewed.
III
A rose-yellow moon in a pale sky
When the sunset is faint vermilion
In the mist among the tree-boughs
Art thou to me, my beloved.
IV
A young beech tree on the edge of the forest
Stands still in the evening,
Yet shudders through all its leaves in the light air
And seems to fear the stars -
So are you still and so tremble.
V
The red deer are high on the mountain,
They are beyond the last pine trees.
And my desires have run with them.
VI
The flower which the wind has shaken
Is soon filled again with rain;
So does my heart fill slowly with tears,
Until you return.

The Loss
the sea sweeps
leaps at my feet
as i ask why the loss
of a single soul
would make this
world go so empty
precipitating
all the goodness
it once gave
i could feel
each of my cells
try to burst through
this void to reach to you
to bowl me over
with joy and dance
this heart leaping
with hope again
between the valley
of my mind
our age old laughter
echoes louder
than waves to
a heartbreaking
crescendo

Nameless, Formless, Shapeless
Nameless, formless, shapeless
A fog in the brain
A mist in the eyes
Yet in the heart what vulcan flames
From the interior magma rise and leap!
So poetry is born, my poetry
So my lines arise
The genealogy of my lines lies in the fog and mist
And in the leap-flames in the heart!
By spurts, and then after the spurt
An interval of dejection
Fog and mist and blank
And then of sudden
The light shines at the end of a tunnel
The heart-pump leaps
Fanned by the bellows of the interior magma
That rises and leaps, that pumps and leaps!
So the flower unwinds itself
From its night-cover:
When the dews and the cold drops
Of the oncoming night its veins will freeze
And fast its leaves and petals curl.
So the flower arises from the seed
So the flower arises on its stem
So the stem arises through the soil
Fog and mist and blank
And a heart that bellows
And fans its pump
When numbed and frozen seems
The blue petal of day at touch of dusk.

With Leaping Spray The Sea Explodes
With leaping spray the sea explodes
against a rock, explodes again
just as before with surf
that constantly leaps and fall
while a grove of pines are near to the shore,
and once more the spray
rises up into the air
and fall at my feet like rain.
In my thoughts you are back,
again I feel your soft hand in mine,
as we once had walked along this beach,
but it is only memories of a distant past.
No illness where you could beg in mercy,
could find a new kind of faith,
was offered you and far too suddenly
destiny shattered what we had.
I have a kind of life,
where at times I try to forget
but it’s to no avail as remembering
always comes back.
The waves of the sea still leaps in vain,
coming down in a shower
and you were here and you are gone
while I have pain; life goes on like before.

Why Me?
It is incredible how time flies,
one moment you’re down,
thinking how much lower can I get.
Then someone comes along
and perks you up a bit.
Suddenly from disappearing down
that deep hole in the ground.
Someone ignites a spark
and you start to feel heaven bound.
First one person grasps your hand
and then another and another
reach out to help you.
Soon you have friends so abundant
you are not sure what to do.
Life for some reason is
jumping along in leaps and bounds.
Everywhere you turn
your dreams are coming true
and that is when you ask yourself,
why me?
You are the same as you were yesterday,
so what is happening
and why me?
The answer lies in the future
somewhere out of sight
and you won’t know
until you get there
what those answers are.
