Poems to be rhythmic

Rhymes are the jewels;
Metre is the structures;
Rhythm is the grace;
Words are the clothes;
Message is the soul.
The gracefulness counts.

Dance And Sing

It irks me terribly when someone upsets the natural rhythm
of my sentences when I write a translation, it is a given that
one should say ‘aesthetically pleasing’ as the rhythm is just
right; then grammar-conscious pedantic translators change
it to ‘pleasing aesthetically’

Their insistence on messing up the rhythm so the tongue
falters as lines run on drives me wild with frustration, then
they insist I should reread the unmusical text lacking all
beauty as jargon and grammar rules preclude all use of
galloping rhythm and metre

It feels like they are plunging a knife in my heart when they
destroy the music in words and lines; no need for rhymes
which are infantile, my only dream is speed - cascading
breathlessly until reaching a marvellous end, an
unexpected conclusion

Why do we have to live life in an assembly line of dead
words without the sound of music filling the ears; I accept
being Not Fully Functional if meeting that requirement
means dying inside – I am still too passionate, words
always dance and sing in my heart!

Recipe for a Poem

Weigh a few words of two or more
Add breaking lines to tease
Stir in a message or metaphor
Plus a rhythm that rhymes with ease
Bake with mental expressions galore
Then serve with a blending to please.

Sonnet: My Poetic Evolution

From simple Rhymes that Kinder-gardens teach,
And little songs that children love to sing,
I worked my way, up to what Poets reach,
And tried to soar the Skies with my own Wing!

And then I came to know what metre was;
And Rhythm melody of words and sounds;
And soon I was some kind of Poetic-Boss;
And tried my skill of words in newer grounds!

The old was gold but people wanted new;
I had to write 'free verses' now and then;
My Sonnets sprung with speed and divine hue;
My Wings were strong enough to reach Heaven!

Believe-it-or-not, I'm World's Sonnet-King!
Each Sonnet was just a ten- minute thing!

Every Little Counts

Every second counts
When I am with you
I think you are a pig
You should be in a zoo
I guess I shouldve known
Id end up on my own
Every second counts when I am with you
Every second counts
Every little counts
When I am with you
You make me feel so good
I never felt so new
I saw you long ago
Though you never let it show
Every little counts when I am with you
Every little counts when I am with you
Every second counts
When I am with you
Even though youre stupid
I still follow you
The smile upon your face,
It always stays in place
Every second counts when I am with you

Jones The Rhythm

Rhythm is both the songs manical and its demoinc charge.
It is the original breath , it is the whisper of unremitting demand.
What do you still want to be said of the singer?
What do you think you can still draw from my lips?
Exact presence that no fantasy can represent.
Purveyor of the old secret, alive with the blood that boils again,
And is pulsing where the rhythm is torn apart.
How your singers blood is incensed at the depth of sound.
Lacerations echo in the mouths open erotic sky where dance together,
The lost trenches of rythm and an imploring immobility...
Ladies and gentlemen...miss grace jones...jones the rhythm.
Slave!!
Slave to the rhythm, dance to the rhythm,
Axe to wood in ancient times, man machine production line,
The fire burns, with heart beats strong,
Sing out loud, the chaing gang song.
Never stop the action, keep it up, keep it up,
Never stop the action, keep it up, keep it up.
Slave to the rhythm, dance to the rhythm,
The rhythm...master...master.
Never stop the action, keep it up,
Never stop the action, keep it up, keep it up.
Slave to the rhythm, work to the rhythm,
Dance to the rhythm, live to the rhythm.
Slave to the rhythm,
Dance to the rhythm, live to the rhythm,
Slave to the rhythm, work...to the rhythm,
To the rhythm, work to the rhythm, to the rhythm.
Slave, slave,
To the rhythm, to the rhythm, to the rhythm.

A Poem Does Not Have to Rhyme

There are those who think in order for a poem to have rhythm it must rhyme, but a poem does not have to rhyme to have rhythm.
The rhythm comes for the poet’s soul not the rhyming of words.
The rhythm is in emotions that the poet’s poem evokes.
From a soulful cry to feeling of love and from the passion of hate to the awakening of understanding this is the beat, the rhythm of a poem. Now don’t get me wrong if a poem rhyme and has soul it is cool too, but I just wanted everyone to know that a poem does not have to rhyme.

I Am Rhythm

When I write I feel me moved like emotions of the heart
Ligaments infused as a pen, when I walk on this chart
I am rhythm I potray the movement of dance
Poetry being music rhythm being ink and a pen
I've found dance partners in these metaphors
Similies being our choreographer, can't wait to see what they have instore
As I move to words on this paper following a routine to a show
Avalanche of rhymes break dance like snow
I am rhythm
I deliver these words like cha cha
Sensual sultry movement coming together like a salsa
Keeping you intoxicated as you long for the warmth of a lover
I keep you moved like the beats of drum
Colourful inuendos, knowing spring has sprung
Harmonical expression through the strings of a guitar
Being able to open any door with the keys of a keyboard
I am rhythm but in essence I'm poetry
and as I become poetry
I redefine rhythm

A Big Or Brief Poetry......!

Big or brief, what is poetry?
Poetry is......
Creating beauty out of blemish,
Making order out of disorder,
Producing meaning out of musical words,
Creating Universal truth out of trivialities,
Arranging points out of less known facts!

Is poetry just making rhythm and rhyme
Without meaning, life, force and taste,
Without free flowing musical words,
Without words of music, beauty, fun?

Poetry is free flowing river of words
With full of images, lively and lovely,
Transporting from this world to that world
Forgetting himself and readers here!

Just end rhyme is not enough to make it so;
Internal rhymes make music in rhythm
Making all enjoy music, meaning and ideas!

Poetry is the medium to say complex things
Not possible to say in other forms of language,
Saying unknown things using known things;
It is sound, substance, message and meaning!
And many more matters to many men in the world!

My Literary Friend

Once I wrote a little poem which I thought was very fine,
And I showed the printer’s copy to a critic friend of mine,
First he praised the thing a little, then he found a little fault;
‘The ideas are good,’ he muttered, ‘but the rhythm seems to halt.’

So I straighten’d up the rhythm where he marked it with his pen,
And I copied it and showed it to my clever friend again.
‘You’ve improved the metre greatly, but the rhymes are bad,’ he said,
As he read it slowly, scratching surplus wisdom from his head.

So I worked as he suggested (I believe in taking time),
And I burnt the ‘midnight taper’ while I straightened up the rhyme.
‘It is better now,’ he muttered, ‘you go on and you’ll succeed,
‘It has got a ring about it—the ideas are what you need.’

So I worked for hours upon it (I go on when I commence),
And I kept in view the rhythm and the jingle and the sense,
And I copied it and took it to my solemn friend once more—
It reminded him of something he had somewhere read before.

Now the people say I’d never put such horrors into print
If I wasn’t too conceited to accept a friendly hint,
And my dearest friends are certain that I’d profit in the end
If I’d always show my copy to a literary friend.

Word Storm (The creation of a poem)

I

At first the sky is crystal blue
and the sun hangs high,
in the way that it
always take.

Specks of white clouds appear
and more and more
are creeping near.

The clouds are getting heavy and dark
and suddenly the sky
is filled and the sun
is blanketed out.

II

The screen is blank
and words are sweeping in
till suddenly the image
is near and by itself
become words and lines
and maybe rhymes
and subject and language
and verse structures itself.

Drops of rain
starts to fall
and drops turn into
a blizzard of words,
that finds their mark
and dropp down as sounds
and transforms on paper
to a symphony of words.

The Rhythm Of The Heat

Looking out the window
I see the red dust clear
High up on the red rock
Stands the shadow with the spear
The land here is strong
Strong beneath my feet
It feeds on the blood
It feeds on the heat
The rhythm is below me
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm is around me
The rhythm has control
The rhythm is inside me
The rhythm has my soul
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
The rhythm of the heat
Drawn across the plainland
To the place that is higher
Drawn into the circle
That dances round the fire
We spit into out hands
And breathe across the palms
Raising them up high
Help open to the sun
Self-conscious, uncertain
Im showered with the dust
The spirit enter into me
And I submit to trust
Smash the radio
No outside voices here
Smash the watch
Cannot tear the day to shreds
Smash the camera
Cannot steal away the spirits
The rhythm is around me
The rhythm has control
The rhythm is inside me
The rhythm has my soul

Sonnet- Sonnet Needs Rhymes

Can you a Sonnet write without its rhyme?
Now people want the modern verse that's free;
As ideas get stuck and cramped with time,
A Sonnet's like leafless branches of tree!

A Sonnet's great for men who rhyme too well;
Its beauty lives in metre, rhythm, rhyme;
Yet, it can never run into 'pel-mel';
The sonneteer can write in any clime.

Why abhor rhymes and not a Sonnet write?
Each genre has its rules to comply with;
Why sleep all day and stay awake all night?
Rhyme-play is done by Kindergarden kith!

Why ridicule something you can't do well,
Much things are done by practice, Sonnets tell.

To a Vers Librist

"Oh bard," I said, "your verse is free;
The shackles that encumber me,
The fetters that are my obsession,
Are never gyves to your expression.

"The fear of falsities in rhyme,
In metre, quantity, or time,
Is never yours; you sing along
Your unpremeditated song."

"Correct," the young vers librist said.
"Whatever pops into my head
I write, and have but one small fetter:
I start each line with a capital letter.

"But rhyme and metre--Ishkebibble!--
Are actually negligible.
I go ahead, like all my school,
Without a single silly rule."

Of rhyme I am so reverential
He made me feel quite inconsequential.
I shed some strongly saline tears
For bards I loved in younger years.

"If Keats had fallen for your fluff,"
I said, "he might have done good stuff.
If Burns had thrown his rhymes away,
His songs might still be sung to-day."

O bards of rhyme and metre free,
My gratitude goes out to ye
For all your deathless lines--ahem!
Let's see, now . . . What is one of them?

The Messenger

Anderson/squire/howe/white/sherwood/khoroshev
Judging by the voice
He was free to himself so real
We slaved ourselves to sacrifice
More than that we do not know
Then you hear him on the radio
He would play the sacred themes
That my children sang to me
Amazing as it seems
It was the answer to my dream
His heart that touches me
More than that I do not not know
Then I hear him on the radio
Remembering his every word
That my children sing to me
We have seen the world, this ecstasy
Now my children sing to me
This loving place, beyond belief
You got to stand stand to to together
Keep the message alive
You got to stand stand to to together
To keep the message alive
Spirit up moving, spirit up
Rhythm of sunfire
You got to stand stand to to together
Keep the message alive
Listening for his words
He would speak in ancient verse
So we mesmerize a way to go
Reaching out the universe
Reaching out the universal
Not afraid to learn new words
That our children sing to us
We have seen the world, this ecstasy
So his children bring to us
This inner peace, beyond belief
You got to stand stand to to together
Keep the message alive
You got to stand stand to to together
To keep the message alive
Spirit up moving, spirit up
Rhythm of sunfire
You got to stand stand to to together
Keep the message alive
One voice
One world
One touch
One life... truly, truly say it
One world... one voice
One touch... truly, truly say it
Some people realise
Some people see it
From the beginning
One world... one touch
One voice... one life
One touch... one voice... one world... one life

My Message

Words.
I have written
Spin through the air.
Like reddened leaves
From deadened trees
At Autumns' fair.

Rhymes I hung
On bells that rung.
Reverberate
In a lonely soul.
Somewhere.

So late
In a moonlight dance
Stars explode
To then enhance
True romance in silver plume
That drifts away.
Yet my message that wafts across her room
Will kiss her cheek.
A million miles away.

Devi

Sphere of a sphereless space
Shape of a shapeless grace
Metre of a metreless race
Rhythm of a rhythmless pace
Wherefrom does this soul evolve
Hey! Devi, in and around Thee revolve
Life and death in I resolve
Sin and fear, off Thee absolve

Black and dark Thee in glow
White and bright Thee in flow
Green and red Thee up grow
Pink and blossom aroma Thee sow
Timeless womb of myriad genesis
Timless tomb of final synthesis
Monotheism in polytheistic thesis
Devi, Devi of plentiful Devis

Power of powerful pervasion universal
Mother of finite multitude fertile
Why not, why not o' bountiful
I call Thee my karmic-goal
The filthy void wide within mine
Shackled devoid of pathos by grace Thine
A zing of bliss then strikes me fine
Mother! my ecstatic anthem in cosmic align!
