Humility

Passion, perseverance and pride
In succession take you to joy.
It must be met with humility.
Your fall is then not ridiculed.

Pride Cometh Before the Fall

Humility was discussing Pride with Heart:
Heart had decided Pride was a great asset.
Discretion chimed in with a hearty disagreement,
“You roll in the pit with this swine! ”
Humility was being denied his rightful place.
Prudence, the brother of Discretion,
Had been outlawed throughout the land
As soon as Pride convinced Heart
That it was he who should take Prudence’s place.
Mistrust had been bound and gagged while he attempted to speak his piece
But Ignorance was allowed to stay.
Knowledge and Experience tried to warn Heart
But he could not see as Pride blocked his view,
Keeping Heart’s attention for his plan.
Now there was only one thing left to do.
Superstition was led to the far reaches of the dwelling
All the while crying out the time old saying,
“Pride cometh before the fall, ” but no one could hear it.
“Ah, ” Pride sighed with relief, “peace and quiet at last! ”
Unbeknownst, there was a rebellious force rising
To defeat that pig called Pride.
He was being a hog with Heart.
A plan was laid and put into play.
There was a knock on Heart’s door and Pride,
Thinking he’d rid this dwelling of rebels,
Gladly offered the guest to enter.
Only, his friend Ignorance was not at this door, no,
Love entered. Pride sprang to his feet,
“You? ! ? What are you doing here? ! ? ”
“I would like a meeting with Heart, if you’d be so kind.”
Heart, having just spoken with Sincere and Individual,
Decided for himself to let Love have his desired appointment.
Heart had a long stay with Love and
With much dismay, Pride knew he had been beaten.
For as the saying goes, “Love conquers all! ”
And now we know: Pride surely cometh before the fall...
Just no one ever mentioned it was the fall into Love.

Humility And Pride

Two emotions deep down inside, are those of humility and pride,
They produce what men may see, in the life of both you and me.
A haughty spirit can sure reside, in a heart that’s filled with pride.
A humble spirit is in you and me, when you’re filled with humility.

You can lift yourself up with pride, but God’s Word is not denied,
And God’s Word is clear and loud, God will humble all the proud.
Men may believe that they are wise; but that is only in their eyes.
For all of pride, my dear friend, by The Lord shall be condemned.

Men who are humble and meek, by proud men considered weak,
By The Lord are never despised, but truly favored in God’s eyes.
The Lord will exalt humble men; for this is in His Word my friend,
They will be lifted up by The Lord, as by God they’re not ignored.

On the cross there was no pride, as Jesus Christ our Savior died.
Christ had displayed for us humility, as The Savior of all humanity.
The Eternal God, far from weak, was to all men humble and meek.
God’s example is for all to behold, and His Word will not grow old.

Friend pride can be a hindrance, to the life Christ has given to us,
Pride will never be used by God, but it shall be judged by His rod.
Allow Christ’s humble spirit within, then you shall be used by Him,
As only a meek and humble life, truly displays the power of Christ.

The humility in action

A great man met his childhood teacher,
Who himself is a renowned teacher.
The teacher’s humility:
You are such a boy
That any Tom, Dick or Harry
Could groom you up.
The student’s humility:
You are such a person
That any Tom, Dick or Harry
Could grow up under you.

Refiner's Fire

Logic has no answers
For such inequality-
Why do good men suffer?
Just a painful reality.

The righteous suffer so,
While the bad remain untouched,
The reasons we don't know
Why we suffer things so much.

To put my mind at ease,
In my prayer He gave me
A glimpse of His masterpiece
A purpose there to see.

'Pain will purify thee
With water of Affliction,
And the bread of Adversity,
Will teach you life's direction.

These came with the fall of man
But they prune you for the best,
Just trust with all you can
And you'll soon pass the test.

All your dross will be removed
When you pass the Refiner's Fire,
And your goodness will be proved
For My Will you will desire.'

When I pass the fire I suffer
But He is in the furnace with me
And I love Him more than ever,
Love as gold as eternity.

---- ----------------
'....but we also rejoice in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope.'

Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth, I fell in love with you,
Without seeing you in person.
Without being born in your days,
With a figure that I carved of you,
Out of manners written in words
By Jane Austin in Pride and Prejudice.
I have cut such a figure of you in my
thought.
Like of which no heroine could match
If she were to enact you in a play.

You are the epitome of pride,
The pride without vanity,
The pride without humility either;
The pride with a royal aura
Without any royal blood.
You have had such pride as forbade
You even to reveal your love
To one you were deeply in love with,
And to one who condescended to love
Till he himself laboured to spell.

Elizabeth, I fell in love with you
For your pride, poise and composure.

Plastic Passion

Plastic passion is a hard to handle
Plastic passion is a sold out scandal
Oh it's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
Plastic passion is the ladies lover
Plastic passion is the marble mother
Oh it's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
Plastic passion is a diamond delight
Plastic passion is the nadir of night
Oh it's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
Plastic passion is a hycoscine heart
Plastic passion is a transparent tart
Oh it's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
Plastic passion is a gold guarantee
The plastic passion is murdering me
Oh it's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion
It's a plastic passion

The Pride That Comes After

It knows it all, it knows it all,
The world of groans and laughter,
It sneers of pride before a fall,
But the bitter pride comes after:
So leave me and I’ll seek you not,
So seek me and you’ll find me—
But till I know your hand-grip’s true
I’ll stand with hands behind me.

It knows it all, it knows it all,
The world of lies and sorrow—
It prates of pride before a fall,
And of the humble morrow;
But shame and blame are but a name,
Oh, heart that’s hurt past curing!
We’ll drink to-night the sinner’s pride,
The pride that’s most enduring.

They know it all, they know it all,
The curs that pass the sentence.
They preach of pride before a fall
And bitter black repentance:
So leave me when my star is set,
I’ll glory that you leave me,
While one has pride to love me yet
There’s nought on earth shall grieve me.

Just Say No To Titles

needing and hating that you need
you loathe the obsession, the compulsion
shorne pride and naked humility
i wove fantasy for my story to excite
to tempt and to attract attention, affection
seducing the seducted and betrothed
i plucked out my eye and forgot to give it to you
i blinded the other one staring down the sun in search of you
chose death over seething guilt and retalitations
the death of the craving for the moon of the stars
shorne pride and humility
sordid affairs in fantasies excite her remorse
needing and hating that she needs

The Proud

Pride exalts itself
It cannot ask for help

It cannot even pray
Humbly kneel today

It never bows to ask
It wears a stoical mask

Pride can breed anger
Can't forgive the offender

It goes for years in heights
A pedestal of Rights

Knows only 'I, me, mine'
As long as Self is fine

No pity, no compassion
Only selfish emotions

It cannot say 'I'm sorry'
Though mistakes are many

It craves full attention
Wearing self-exaltation

Seeks applause of men
Its name up there again

The Spirit, it cannot receive
In self-effort it believes

Not really needing God-
Pride? Makes me so very sad.

'Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.'
(Proverbs 16: 18)

'In his pride the wicked does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.'

A Worthy Man?

The Very Reverend Doctor Green.
A doctor of divinity
This learned cleric can be seen
as lacking in humility.
The Doctor knows or thinks he knows.
The answers to the mysteries
and by his proud demeanour shows
Intolerance is his disease.
Pontificates on the T.V
and denigrates all other creeds
His bloated pride won’t let him see
that different folks have different needs
Is his blinkered attitude
deserving of our gratitude?

Harmonic Creed

the one who knows less
knows more of humility,
the other who knows more
knows less.

the one
applies humility.

the other applies
what humility there is
in respect of
the greater humility of
the one.

Light At Play

I am an object of light and the button,
You have some idea why I am richer than you!
You rest and play as the meanings of your page
At a way called wind.
Adorations are sweetness for the soul
As this closed book shows.
Perseverance and calamity show the mind at work.
When only light appears you are objecting
Like the wind of the weather, and the storm.
Then, so deluded, a night has arrived
For roofs are like them as they give comfort.
I am an object of light so ridiculed
For my comfort, and let us win this reality.

The Two Birds

The eagle and the hawk
all dwell in the sky
and all fly from heights
but the eagle rules and the hawk follows.
Yet they are two birds

The owl and the dove
all fly in the sky
and all dwell in nests
but the dove carries blessings
and the owl carries curses.
yet they are two birds still.

The two birds!
pride and humility
all dwell in our hearts
and sleep in the warmth of our egos
but humility shines while pride fades
There two birds still

The two birds!
sin and salvation
all appear in the world's contest
show casing life and death
but salvation heals, sin kills
yet these are two birds
