While I Was Driving The Car Back Home

while i was driving the car back home
the town suffered a
blackout, and all that i can see before me
is a sea of darkness but i am not frightened anymore
for i have light within me
or the car perhaps is well conditioned to travel
the tunnel of darkness
without people or in places where everyone is asleep,
somehow
i begin to think what if i am the only one left
in this world
where everyone finally left somewhere to a place
where i have never been to....

and then i begin to think about you.
how can i be so cruel to forget such a lovely person as you?
how could i be so indifferent?

and then i stopped the car and veered my way
back home to you.

I Need to Come Back Home

Home is where the heart is.
That is what they say.
Home is where the heart is.
So let me find my way
back to you.

I've wandered much too long,
seen a lot of sights,
drifted like a boat
'til darkness filled my nights
I've seen too many people
everywhere I've been.
And not one face I've seen
can replace the love I'm in.

*** So I need to come back home to the face I left behind.
I need to come back home to the place I left behind.
I need to come back home and find you once again
and let my wandering end.

Piano interlude

I've searched each place I've gone
never could sit tight.
Left my tracks behind
'til darkness filled my mind.
Guess I can't replace you.
Gotta journey back to you
swallow up my pride.

REPEAT ***

Home is where the heart is.
That is what I say.
Home is where the heart is
So let me find my way
back to you.

Home:

Home…

Home is where you were born.
Home is where you were raised,
Home is were you grew up,
Home was what had shaped you,
Home is what gave you your foundation
And what help you grow into something amazing,
Home is what you left behind to become something bigger,
Home is what you remember many years after leaving,
Home is what you become missing for,
Home is where you crave to be when you're done with you adventures,
Even thought you left home, for another place,
Home has never left,
It's still there,
On the same old street,
With the same old lawn,
With the same old people,
Just waiting there,
For you and only you,
It is there for you and only you,
Because with out it,
Without a home,
You wouldn't have a place to go back to,
A place was you can call your own..well, home...

No One To Run With

By betts and prestia
(c) 1994 sony music entertainment, inc.
Everybody wants to know where jimmy has gone
He left town, I doubt if hes coming back home
Well tony got a job, three kids and a lovely wife
Working at the commerce bank for the rest of his life
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Im gonna hit the road, adios my friend
Go someplace and start all over again
Dont know where Im going, like a gypsy out on the road
Ill go someplace and join a traveling show
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
I think jimmy must have had the right idea
Packed his stuff and he got right out of here
I dont know where hes at but Im sure that hes ok
Now I realize what jimmy was trying to say
[chorus]
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody wants to do the crazy things we used to do before
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore
Nobody left to run with anymore

Only Memories Left

Searching my youth of another day
of time that went away
back in the old home town
with family and friends, brings a frown.

To be home again
of my search I begin
the places I remember are gone now
to progress they have bowed.

So many changes in the city
every thing gone, oh it's a pity
my youth was here for many years
to see how it's changed brings tears.

It's true you can't go home again
to the place it all began
memories is all I have left
to my heart the memories have cleft

Goin Home

Midnight on a southern highway
Dont know if Im going the right way
I havent seen a single sign for miles
All this stormy weather
Keeping us from being together
How long has it been since Ive seen your smile
In this tunnel called the night
I can finally see a light
Ive got a burning deep inside
I thought you might understand
Im drivin as fast as I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my family
Goin home
And I hope that theyre still waitin there for me
In the eyes of the legal tender
Youre the one who must surrender
I think they call it responsibility
Im a man in emotion
With only one compulsion
Ive got to follow these dreams inside my heart
Im not looking for a fight
No ones wrong and no ones right
Maybe we all need time apart
So please understand
Im doin the best that I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my sanity
Goin home
And I hope that its still waitin there for me
Solo
I thought youd might understand
Im drivinas fast as I can
And you said youd wait for me
Chorus
Goin home
Cause Ive been away much too long
Goin home
Going back to the place where my heart belongs
Goin home
Going back where I left my family
Goin home
And I hope that theyre still waiting there for me
Going home
Going home
Yeah, baby

Going Home

Writers: leo sayer & alan tarney
No crying no sighing Im going home
Im leaving no grieving Im going home
And theres no one here
And theres nothing here gonna turn me around
Been a lifetime here full of doubt and fear
Been the talk of the town
Im going home
Im going home
Im going home
Im smiling Im flying Im going home
No sad face no suitcase Im going home
And Im thinking back
To the girl I left is she waiting for me
When I left my heart wasnt in my hands
Is she waiting home for me
When I get home
When I get home
When I get home
I know my friends will be there
And they will welcome me
Ill wash away these memories
From these dirty streets
When I get home
When I get home
When I get home
When I get home
Im dreaming Im scheming Im going home
Im racing times wasting Im going home
And I see my home and I see my dream
I see everyone there
Going right back down to when I was free
And I hadnt a care
Im going home
Im going home
Im going home
And in my babys eyes
I see joy and pride
Uncover all those lies
That I left behind
When I get home
And I see my home and I see my dream
I see everyone there
Going right back down to when I was free
And I hadnt a care
When I get home

Going Back or Staying Here

I can’t fall back
I won’t go back
If there’s one thing I must do
It is to stay here
I’ve got to hold on
Hold out
I can’t fall back
Never go back
I might not escape next time
I can’t go back

Seeping through the cracks
Moving slowly, creeping to me
It wants me
“Come back”, it calls
“You were happy here, you could do anything here”
“We made you who you are”
“Come back”, it calls

Tempting
So unbelievably tempting
I could fall back
It’s just so easy to go back
I’ll let it envelope me
Let it course through my veins
To my brain and heart
Let it fill me up
And explode through me
“Bring me back”, I call
“Bring me back”

Moving faster, sliding on the floor
It screams, “YES! Yes, yes, yes! ”
A foot away it leaps
“Here I come”, I say
Swallow me back into my darkened world
“I’m coming home”
Just close my eyes
“I’m coming home”

Standing still
Nothing moves
Looking the darkness is gone
But something is here
Her arms are around my neck
“I’m home”, she says
I wrap my arms around her
“Yes, you’re home”, I say
Again she saves me
Saves me from going back

She is my light
A little that will never go out
She will never know the darkness in me
But she’ll always guide me home
Because home is only where she is
And the only place I can be safe
Safe next to her
My light, my love

I Wish I Could Go Back Home

Chorus:
I wish I could go back home
I'm so tired of living all alone
I left to sow my wilder seeds
Now look at all the pain I've grown
I wish I could go back home
It breaks my heart to see her cry
That's how I left her when I said good bye
I never meant to be so cruel
How could I have been such a fool
I got scared when love drew close
Turns out her love is what i'm needing most
Instead I'm back out on my own
Wishing I could go back home
Chorus
She waited as long as she could stand
Finally gave up and found another man
And he's getting love that once was mine
I can't believe I've been so blind
What goes around comes back they say
But I'd trade my future for one yesterday
We had a good thing now it's gone
Lord, I wish I could go back home
Chorus
We had a good thing now it's gone
Lord, I wish I could go back home

A step from the darkness

A step from the darkness, into the light
The dark pulls me back, but I chose to fight
The dark is bad, it’s full with harm
It can make you feel at home, with its darkness charm
But I’ve been there for too long, and it’s time to get out
So darkness back away, and hear me shout
I let the light take me, it’s a better place there
Filled with fun and laughter, and people who care
So light lead me to good, take away the bad
I wish to be happy, not always sad

My Home

How do I find my way back?
I've strayed too far from home.
I've gone so many places
for so many days.
I've even been to Rome.

I have seen so many sights now.
It seems to me that somehow
that every place I've ever seen
were places in-between
from the place that is my home.

My search for brand new places
and all those other places
never filled the gap
as I crossed the map,
so far from my sweet home.

For I missed the landscape,
the place that I grew up in.
The old familiar faces
were not in the places I've been.
And now I must retrace my steps.

I've searched this world all over.
Too long I've been a rover.
I'll take a trip on back
for I'm on the wrong track.
I wonder what I'll find at my home?

Nothing seems the same now.
Familiarity has changed somehow,
except for the peace I feel around me.
'Cause in my memory I still can see
the place that is my home.

Keep Driving

Another new york waltz at four a.m.,
In the canyons lost at night
The citys just a jail for me, full of high rise prison walls
And Im riding through this darkness,
cause I know theres life within
And Im searching through the shadows,
Just to find that light again
Keep driving (keep driving),
Let the meter run
Keep driving (keep driving),
Oh the nights not really done
Keep driving
And Im hanging on a memory, and I feel it in the air
Im a prisoner of these lonely streets,
But I know Ill find you there
And oh lord, you look so pretty,
But you can see it in my eyes
And just before my tear will fall, oh you smile and get inside
It seems so real until the light turns green
Dont wake me up, dont ruin this dream, dont take me from my scene
Keep driving, keep driving,
Keep driving, keep driving,
I cant go home, dont take me home, I cant go home alone
They dont tell you when the music stops,
Or how the movie ends
Is it too late once the feelings gone,
To back it up and start it all again?
Oh lord you look so pretty,
And you can see it in my eyes
And just before that tear will fall, oh you smile and get inside
(keep driving) keep driving, driving
I cant go home, dont take me home, I cant go home alone
(keep driving) let the meter run,
(keep driving) dont take me home
(keep driving) ooh, the nights still young
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) ooh find someone,
(keep driving) I gotta find someone,
(keep driving) find someone,
(keep driving) find someone,
(keep driving, keep driving, keep driving, keep driving, keep driving)

Out Of Time

There's something stuck
in my craw.
It feels like a heavy wad of dirt.
I try swallowing it,
and it won't go down.
I fight to cough it up
but it will not budge.
It's blocking my airway
as stubborn and defiant as unforgiveness.
White static noise roars in my ears
as I begin to pass out
and travel through a tunnel of darkness closing in on all sides.
A pinpoint of light is at the end
and I know that I only have seconds left
to let go of my
resentment.

Back Home

(Dolly Parton)
Back home, back home
Yes, I'm going back home
Why I can't believe it's been this long
Since I've seen mom and dad
When I left my mountain home behind
I left them both so sad
My brothers and my sisters that were babies then are grown
Years have past and now at last, I'm on my way back home
Back home, back home
Yes I'm going back home
To the factory smoke and city life, I'm sayin' so long
I've shed a lot of tears through all the years that I've been gone
And I've spent a lot of time a' wishin' I could go back home
I got a letter from mama an'
Mama asked me if I'd come back home
She says it sure is lonesome now
Since all of us kids are all growed up and gone
I just can't hardly stand the thoughts of
Momma and daddy being left there all alone
That's really all I need to know
And now I'm on the road back home
Back home, back home
Yes, I'm going back home
To the smog an' smoke an' city life, I'm sayin' so long
I've shed a lot of tears through all the years that I've been gone
And I've spent a lot of time a' wishin' I could go back home
Back home, back home
Yes, I'm going back home

Starting Over Again

Momma moved out
Daddy sold the house
They split up the money
And went on their way
And all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Couldnt put mommy and daddy back together again
Chorus:
Starting over again
Where should they begin
cause theyve never been out on their own
Starting over again
Where do you begin
When your dreams are all shattered
And the kids are all grown
And the whole world cries
Got an apartment
She moved in with her sisters
Hes scheming big deals with one of his friends
While she sits at home
Just sorting out pieces
Of left over memories
From thirty odd years
2nd chorus:
Starting over again
Where do you begin
Youve never been out on your own
Starting over again
Never any end
What will the neighbors say?
Theyre talking talk, its small town news
Facing fifty years old
Making up a happy home
And this far down the road
You find yourself alone
Two fools
3rd chorus:
Starting over again
Now where do you begin
When youve never been out on your own
Starting over again
Never any end
When your dreams are all shattered
And the kids are all grown
And all the kings horses
And all the kings men
Could never put mommy and daddy back together
Back together, again

I Do Not Correct Mistakes … I Play

it so happens that
i post a poem with some errors
not of feeling but of
grammatical lapses and she is afraid

that people may begin to belittle me for such
unforgivable simplicities of
mistakes unaccounted

but i tell her even beforehand that i am
always unapologetic
even unkind
or indifferent

i am a person who does not go back
to review
and correct errors

i laugh at them knowing that they have deceived
me into such a corruption

somehow life is like that
we rush to get out of a door only
to find the wrong key in our hand
and we are having a hard time
opening that
which we closed
and we cannot enter anymore
except when when we break the door &
open it forcefully
with a hammer

the noise is painful
having to break in
your own room with locks forced open

like an invasion of your own
body destroying it
breaking your heart or
bones
tearing your skins apart
or slicing some flesh
because you made a mistake

i like lapses,
errors are not supposed to be
minded at

life is like that
no crying for what is there already

sometimes
i don't even solve puzzles
i let them be their own problems

as i sit on the sands
watching the sun
set
feeling the cool winds when the
world starts to lose
its light
and surrender all its arms
to the power of
darkness

and when it gets too dark
i begin to play again
like a child left by mother
abandoned
by father

under the moon under the rain
and all alone.
i like it when i listen
to the bliss of my own wild
laughter

Darkness to be made light!

Without darkness where would the light be?
Without hell there's no heaven!
Yes, there is a darkness to be made light again
Anyone who has not suffered with low self-esteem
or depression all know it's an endless fight back
to good health; black clouds flock like vultures
for the bread of our souls
and the flesh of our hearts
to peck out the seed of our visionary eyes.
But we wheeled an axe of our own reasoning
an axe of our own fortitude
it's our own minds insight that threads the pieces
back together like a steel cable car bridge
reaching across the dark expanse of despair
this is when we begin to know ourselves again
our hopes fulfillment, and who we really are!

(dieter bohlen)
Producer for bonnie: dieter bohlen
Recorded in 1994, bonnies last single on the hansa label. this single was to promote the comeback singles collection 90-94. lyrics taken from careful listening.
I dream of home again
A thousand voices call to me
A cry that splits the night
Woke up the soul inside my memories
I chose to walk alone
To search and find my destiny
So many lonesome roads
Lead me away from where I long to be
When I awake and see a cold and empty room
I sit alone and think of places I once knew
The friends that I had loved and left behind
Oh, how could I have been so blind?
Back home
Where all the love is that I need
Where all my family waits for me
Back home
I close my eyes and I can see
Where the river meets the sea
Back home
There is no better place than home for me
cause home is where Ill find my destiny
Im going home again and I just cant wait to see
The folks that I have missed
A mothers tender kiss, so soft, so sweet
Ill hold her in my arms, like Id never let her go
My familys my home and I will tell them that I love them so
Oh I know Ive been away so very long
That I hurt you when I left and I was wrong
And I see that home is where my heart belongs
So hang on heart, cause her I come
Back home
Where all the love is that I need
Where all my family waits for me
Back home
I close my eyes and I can see
Where the river meets the sea
Back home
There is no better place than home for me
cause home is where Ill find my destiny

Soldier standing on the rain

I’m the soldier standing in the rain,
Being paid cold, being paid illness,
At hours of darkness I don’t knock out asleep,
On the daylight I fear booms booming within the ace of me,
Fearing I might die for nothing.

Back home is a land of milk and honey,
Back home is what I may perhaps call paradise,
Back home is they are joyful and amused,
Back home they relax to sleep,
Back home they don’t be bothered a propos my family,
But me I’m here in the rain for them.

Timorous I may bite the dust for nothing,
Afraid I may let my foes comfortable,
Apprehensive I may implant my blood for laughs,
Frightened I may not have a mission, I may be futile,
Nervous I may, because nobody knows I am
The soldier in the standing in the rain.

I’m kicking the dust for nothing,
I’m living for zilch,
For people who don’t worry for me,
For inhabitants who don’t know me,
For citizens who don’t want to know me,
For public who won’t even be at my funeral,
For nation who don’t know a soldier,
I timorous I’m already in dead; I’m living only with flesh,
I’m the soldier in the rain
The author is a soldier dying for nothing and attention!
